More to Lily

Rate this book
Six years later, I see him again, nursing a black coffee in the front of my usual coffee shop.

The same arrogant curve of his lips, but something different in his eyes. I didn't recognize Mason then – didn't remember the night six years ago when he'd sneered at me in a mansion's dimly lit foyer, practically calling me a gold digger before I fled into the dark.

That day in the coffee shop, I did what I always got exactly what I wanted.

One date.
One night.
One morning after.

Then I heard a name I hadn't thought about in years. Miles – my old friend and Mason's brother.

And suddenly, I remembered everything.

They say time changes people, so I gave him a second chance. But as I tagged along with Mason to Italy, his hand in mine, I wondered if falling for the man who once pushed me away would be the biggest mistake of my life – or if worse mistakes were waiting for us in the rolling hills of Italy.

One thing's for I should have known better than to trust a man who let me walk away once before.

More to Lily is a contemporary millionaire romance. It's book two in the Hearts & Havoc series, but can be read as a standalone.

K. Jaspersen has always been a storyteller at heart, but it wasn't until the summer of 2023 that she truly discovered her voice as a writer. After years of taking a break from reading, several books reignited her passion and one in particular sparked a creative fire within her. Inspired by the authors she loved, she set out to write her own novel. Less than nine months later, Ace of Palms was born – a debut that took shape during the quiet moments between toddler naps and long nights.

A stay-at-home mom, she balances her writing with the joyful chaos of raising two young children in Arizona, where she lives with her husband and ever-growing menagerie of pets. Writing has become a way for her to carve out a space for herself amid the whirlwind of family life, while dreaming up swoon-worthy romance stories. Her next book, More to Lily, an interconnected standalone, is set to release in 2025.

The story starts with a flashback to when the fmc, Lily, is in college. She is close friends with a guy named Miles. They go out to party one evening and Lily ends up meeting Miles’ brother, Mason. He’s super rude toward Lily and she can’t stand him.

Fast forward 6 years later she finds herself drawn to a man she sees in the coffee shop and ends up going home with him eventually. All seems perfect until little details start coming together and she finds out the man she has started to like is none other than Mason from 6 years ago.

I really struggled to get into this book. There wasn’t necessarily anything I didn’t like, but the story never caught my interest. The plot just felt very slow and I found myself forcing not to skim. I kept waiting for a plot twist or something to add to the story and around 70% things kicked up a little, but the ending just didn’t do anything for me unfortunately.

I really didn’t understand why Lily held such a big grudge toward Mason just because he wasn’t the nicest to her all those years ago. And she continuously called him a liar and kept telling him he never changed every time a problem arose in their relationship. The miscommunication was a hard no. The story seemed a little rushed and I personally couldn’t connect with the characters. I’m hoping there is a book for Miles though because the small snippets I read about him intrigued me.

Thank you to K. Jaspersen for allowing me to read this arc. These are all my honest opinions in this review.

More to Lily is a structurally outstanding pattern on love that is interrupted, uncovered, and unraveled among the ruins of memory! K. Jaspersen writes with the tortuous precision of a writer who recognizes the quiet gravity of eye contact, names, and silences, the prose in this contemporary romance lies in the line breaks and in the quiet moments between regret and restoration! Time in Jaspersen's hands feels liminal, like a fogged mirror capturing bits of who we were and could have been, the book is an exploration of resistance, in allowing someone back into the spaces they once vacated!
.
Lily's personality is dazzling in her restraint, she wants without begging and remembers without unraveling, her thoughtful elegance has an intellectual fascination, how she curates her emotions, how she shapes her yearning into self-respect, her one-night stand with Mason is a delicate rebellion gorgeously detailed into a very steamy prose! When the name Miles enters the room, it is less a plot twist and more of an echo, a spectral reminder that love, like trauma, often waits until we are delicate enough to experience it again, the Author stitches this with such frigid intensity that the fire is barely noticeable until the heart is reduced to ashes!!!
.
Mason is presented as an apology in the process of formulating, his arrogance has been smoothed down by time, guilt, and the fragility of second chances, he handles Lily with emotional detail, as if he is well aware that he is carrying something sacred and burning! Their vacation to Italy is packed with wine-soaked confessions, shaky trust, and the unbearable weight of what could happen next. This is about whether love can withstand the heights of its own story!
.
K. Jaspersen's More to Lily is a romance that flows like poetry while bruising like memory, the language is elegant, but never distant. Every line, flashback conversation between them is well-thought, controlled, but aching from what isn't said. It is a cerebral love story in which the brain is unable to strangle the emotion, yet it enhances its sting, this is a novel for people who have loved with their entire brains, only to discover that the heart remembers more than it should!!! The Author knows how to arrange a masterpiece with compelling prose and mind-blowing beautifully stunning setting, this was absolutely masterpiece romance!

I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

More to Lily is the second book in the Hearts and Havoc Duology, written by K Jaspersen and is the story of Lily and Mason.

For those who havent read the first book in the duology, Mason is Miles big brother, who runs the family company. Little does Lily know, that they will most likely cross paths in the nearest of futures and her life will be turned upside down.

If the first book did not spark a little of outrage in you, or even make your eyes tear out, then this one will surely do, because the road to a fairytale love, is paved only with unsuspecting twists. Both for us readers, as well as for the characters themselves.

This story is bound to make you scream and throw your kindle ( hope not though). It will make you only to brae you eventually, it will make you laugh like crazy.

I loved how the story played out, though I gotta admit that at some point I wanted be able to step into the story and shake some sense in some of the characters. K. Jaspersen really has a way to play with your mind and feelings in this book.

⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up)

I received an ARC of this book and was very excited to get into it. I mean a second chance romance in Italy?? My Italian self needed it. I’m sorry to say, I just struggled really badly with this book.

The beginning (6 years ago flashback) started off nicely and I thought it was setting up for a solid plot. But alas, I was mistaken. We meet Lily (FMC), Paige (Lily’s best friend), Miles (Lily’s party friend), and Mason (MMC and Miles’ brother). The first half of the flashback started setting up the story and I had high hopes for something dramatic in the second half but ????? Lily held a grudge all those years for THAT? Listen, I’m the queen of holding grudges but oh my god she acts like Mason murdered her puppy or something. Be so for real right now babe.

Also, take a shot every time someone sneers or their eyebrows do something and you’ll die within the first 20 pages from alcohol poisoning. Why is every action so overly descriptive?? Sorry, I’m ranting here.

The plot was all over the place and the spice was very mild. The most redeeming thing for me was the epilogue and the little full circle moment they had. Very cute and fluffy. Also, Miles as a side character was cute. Would’ve loved to have a secondary story where him and Paige ended up together. I feel like there’s a really sick plot in there dealing with Paige’s heartbreak and Miles’ excessive partying, but unfortunately that can’t happen. Sigh.

Thank you so much to the author, K. Jaspersen, for giving me the opportunity to ready your book.

This second chance romance was so good! I really enjoyed reading and getting to know the characters more. The female main character,Lily was someone I could relate to in certain ways. She has a lot of confidence but she also overthinks which is something I do a lot so I love to see that representation. The dynamic between her and Mason was very cute and you can really tell how they feel about each other. I also really like the description used throughout the novel, it was so vivid that I could picture exactly what she was describing and could see it very clearly! This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone, I read this one before the first and didn’t feel like there was any information I was missing from the first book!

Thank you so much for the ARC ღ

~ More to Lily is an emotional and engaging romance, with slow-burning tension, fun dialogue, and lots of vulnerability.

~ From the start, Lily is a character you can’t help but root for—smart, shaped by tough experiences, and just messy enough to feel real. After getting laid off and still dealing with past heartbreak, she literally falls into a world of secrets, wealth, and a strong attraction to Mason Moore.

~ K. Jaspersen’s writing is heartfelt and immersive, smoothly switching between Lily and Mason’s points of view. The author blends flirtation with deeper themes like addiction, cheating (from a misunderstanding), and family pressure.

What I liked:
• ✨ The chemistry between Lily and Mason. The enemies-to-lovers dynamic works really well.
• 👭 Lily and Paige’s friendship. Real, messy, and supportive.
• 🔥 The romantic tension. The banter and attraction are addictive.
• 🧠 The emotional weight. It’s not a shallow romance—there’s more depth than expected.

What didn’t work as well:
• Some emotional moments (especially around Miles) felt a bit forced or overly dramatic.
• The pacing dips a little in the middle, but picks up again with strong payoffs.

Tropes:
☑️ Enemies to lovers
☑️ Grumpy x Sunshine
☑️ He’s a billionaire with a secret
☑️ Alcoholism & recovery themes
☑️ Fake perceptions / real feelings
☑️ Found family & second chances

📌 TW: Graphic sexual content, strong language, alcohol addiction, cheating (from misunderstanding).

Thanks to K. Jaspersen for the Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed being included in the group.
=========================================

Mason joins the great company of “Dream Book Boyfriends” everywhere. Who wouldn’t want a man that will take you to see the most beautiful places in the world and make you feel like you are the most important thing to him? Mason - you set the bar very high for real men.

Lily demonstrates what it looks like to be a confident woman who goes after what she wants.

My wanderlust and desire to see beautiful places was certainly encouraged while reading this book.

I will say the writing style and word choice as a whole makes this book accessible to almost any reader and can be enjoyed by anyone. That being said, the lack of complexity made the story fall flat and feel one-dimensional for me in some places, but not all.

I felt the character development could have used more attention because while the story plot was alluring, I didn’t feel myself deeply rooting for the characters.

The “big conflict” seemed to go on longer than necessary and could’ve been resolved with a simple face-to-face conversation and “trust until proven otherwise”. Maybe that’s my realistic brain butting in to my reading experience.

All in all, this book had a handsome book boyfriend, a confident female lead, a dream vacation, and a happily ever after. Read it and make your own opinion!

The Hearts & Havoc duology wrecked me in the best possible way.
If you love emotionally messy characters, dangerous chemistry, and second chances that shouldn't work but somehow do, buckle up.
Ace of Palms pulled me in from the first page with that eerie palm reading and that bar scene in Nashville 👀Like yes, please, give me mysterious strangers, unresolved trauma, and a man who might just ruin your life or make it better. The slow unraveling of Paige's past and the electric tension with her not-so-random stranger?? Chef's kiss.
Then comes More to Lily and just... wow. It's six years later, and the vibes go from moody Nashville bars to Italian dreamscapes, with all the heartbreak and unresolved tension in between. Lily is a force, and Mason? The perfect combo of broody and infuriating. Watching them circle each other-with that one night hanging between them and the past creeping back in-was addicting. And the emotional payoff?? I was on the floor.
Both books can be read as standalones, but honestly, reading them together adds such depth.
The themes of memory, mistrust, love, and redemption are woven so beautifully across the duology.
Highly recommend if you like:
✨ Second-chance romance
✨ Millionaire angst
✨ A little mystery and a lot of heart
✨ Characters who feel too real
✨ A swoony escape with some bite

Each book 4⭐️ Duology 5⭐️

This is the first time that I read a book by K. Jaspersen and it did not disappoint!

Personally, the running themes for me while reading this book is "don't judge what you don't understand", and "people can change for the better".

I would say that both themes apply to Mason where he was dealing with family matters which made him act the way he did in the past, but then he did a 180 which made him a better man.

With Lily, I would say that the first theme applies to her. My initial reaction was "hmm I don't like that" when she was looking at things that weren't really for her and how she reacted the way she did in Italy (not saying more to avoid spoilers), but then after reflecting a bit more, I realized that it was because of her experiences in the past and how that made it harder for her to trust people. Also, Mason was the "bad boy type" when they first met so that added up to the situation.

I do love how confident Lily is and is not afraid to let other people know what she wants, and I love how Mason opens up when he's with the right person.

Overall I enjoyed it, and would for sure read more from Katie! ❤️

More to Lily is for you if you like stories with:
- second chance romance
- opposites attract
- dual POV
- he falls first
- love abroad (Italy)

Thank you so much again for the opportunity to be a part of the ARC team!

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. While this is the second book in the duology - you don't need to read the first book and in fact, I feel personally after reading the two (Ace of Palms I read in preparation for this ARC read) that this one is better before the other. But I digress just a bit. Overall there was alot that could have been really good - our MC's met by chance 6 years prior and let's say Mason was a different person than. And after their first date - Lily realizes he's the brother of her college best friend Miles. They take a trip to Italy together for Mason's business - where there's ALOT of miscommunication that causes them to break up. There's alot of non verbal communication that goes on - smirks, lifting eyebrows and the like. And most of the story is told via each MC sharing with us. Overall, I think I just prefer my MC's to tell us their story via actual communication with each other with less internal monologues.

I really enjoyed this book.

Lily met Mason 6 years ago and it was not the most pleasant experience for her.
Little does she know, the guy she met at the coffee shop, the one she decides to shoot her shot with.. is the one and very same .

That is just too bad because the chemistry, banter and s3x was just amazing.

Mason is also equally surprised and shocked he didn't recognize her. He feels awful for how he behaved all those years ago and his introverted self cannot miss this opportunity to make things right and also hopefully make her HIS.

Great banter and chemistry, with some drama towards the end.

I hope the series continues.

Many thanks to K. Jaspersen for the ARC/opportunity to read an share my thoughts.

Such an emotional and captivating read. I read and loved Ace of Palms, was looking forward to reading More to Lily. This second-chance romance had everything—drama, longing, and plenty of twists that kept me hooked.

Lily and Mason’s story starts with unresolved feelings, a past encounter that left its mark, and a reunion that stirs everything up again. Mason is the one who once pushed Lily away, but now, years later, he seems different. As they reconnect, secrets from the past resurface, making their relationship even more complicated. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I loved watching them navigate their feelings, doubts, and the risks of falling in love again.

Italy's beautiful setting added to the romance, giving their journey a backdrop full of emotion and intensity.

💗ARC REVIEW: More To Lily by K. Jaspersen

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨More to Lily was such a great read! I finished it in one day! I laughed alot! The FMC, Lily, was a lot of laughs. I don’t think a character has made me laugh as much as Lily did. She’s spunky and goes after what she wants. The MMC, Mason, was complete opposite. He’s quiet and reserved, but it’s usually the quiet ones you have to watch out for 😉.
✨I just loved getting to know the characters and how their relationship blossomed. I also loved the drama that came with their relationship. Overall, this was a great read and I would highly recommend it!

If you like contemporary romance with spice and minimal plot, easy read, give this a shot. A perfect easy read for the beach.

This book starts off strong but then I felt it fell a bit flat for me after the flashback ends.

This is a multi POV book with an on again, off again romance due to miscommunication and past events.

I found it difficult to relate to these characters. I like Miles as a side character but the main characters, Lily and Mason just didn't hit it with me.

I prefer more angst and slow burns in my books, so I do feel it's just my taste that didn't mesh with this book.

After reading the first book in this series, Ace of Palms, More to Lily was a good sequel going into more detail about the other characters we had heard about in the first book. It can also be read as a standalone book which I liked! This was an easy read romance with some light spice and a happy ending. Most of the book focuses on getting to know the main female/male characters and their pasts, then after Lily is invited to Italy we got to experience some plot twists and see if the couple ended up together and how their story would end. If you like a strong outgoing female character lead then you will enjoy this book. Overall a great job for an up and coming author!

First off, I was given an earlier copy of this book as an ARC.

This book feels as though it should be the first in the series. As Lily has the first relationship between her and her BFF Paige. Paige's story is in Ace Of Palms. I'm unsure why the stories were written this way but they were. Lily and Mason's relationship has a past, present and future. They way they work through it seems too "easy" for the things that happened in their relationship. It was also all major fault on Mason and him trying to win Llily back. Again, I saw the twist coming early on, but there was no second twist like in Ace Of Palms.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I received this book as an advance review copy, and while I enjoyed it, I don't believe it functions as a sequel to *Ace of Palms*. If you were to choose between the two to read first, I would recommend reading *More to Lily* first; trust me on this one, as the books are interconnected, with characters appearing in both stories. Lily and Mason's story was sweet, but having read the first book in the duology, I felt it somewhat lacked impact. I still rated it four stars because the story was well-written and enjoyable, but I believe I would have appreciated it more had I read their story before their friend Page's story.

The characters felt real and relatable, especially Lily’s honest narration. The author’s inclusion of cultural details and a glossary for Italian terms added authenticity and depth. The story’s emotional moments hit home, and the portrayal of complex friendships was a highlight.

However, the plot followed a fairly straightforward path and didn’t surprise me much. I would have liked a few more twists or unexpected turns to add tension. At times, the pacing dragged, which made parts of the story feel slower than necessary.

This contemporary romance is the second in a duology, but can be easily read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed the story - filled with misunderstandings and second chances, it was a quick, easy read. There’s a CEO billionaire, a surprise trip to Italy, membership in the mile high club, family meddling, and lots of discussion of various spirits and wines. It’s definitely an insta-attraction type thing with wide open doors. I have no hesitations recommending this to any lovers of contemporary romance.

It took me awhile to get into this book. The writing itself was decent and made the book flow quickly. However, I didn't really like the characters. They scoffed/sneered a lot and it drove me nuts. It made them seem sarcastic or rude in moments that it didn't really make sense for them to be doing that. The plot picks up around the 70% mark.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this in exchange for a voluntary, honest review.

I received this novel as an ARC from the author. Thanks for sharing this creation with me!

More to Lily was a fun read that I enjoyed but at times I struggled to keep reading because some of the “conflict” in the story felt unrealistic. Overall, I do think that I would keep reading from this author, though!

Lily and Mason were a likeable couple and the “spicy” scenes were well written, but more of a moderate spice and weren’t the focus of the novel, which is what I prefer to read!

I really enjoyed this book, enemies to lovers but more miscommunication than enemies, Lily encounters Mason at a low point in his life, he certainly made an impression.
Six years pass and a change encounter, sparks fly but can Lily forget the Mason from her past.
I loved mason he knew he was flawed and will admit it, he falls hard for Lily and is determined to show her how he has changed.
A book of getting over the past in order to move forward.
