James Patterson's hilarious story of perseverance and courage shows everyone's favorite troublemaker, Rafe Khatchadorian, the star of the Middle School series, learning to become a leader at long last.
After a rough summer, Rafe is heading back to the dreaded Hills Village Middle School, the site of the very worst years of his life. And as if that's not bad enough, he's learned that he's going to be held back a year unless he can prove himself on an outdoor survival excursion--complete with dangerous white-water rafting, dizzying rock climbing, and fanatical counselors. Rafe and the rest of the pack of "delinquent" trainees are forced to cooperate as they prepare for the final a solo excursion in the deep woods. Can Rafe come out of the experience in one piece? And if he does, he go home as the same insecure kid?

When I first started reading this book, it seemed boring. Once I got a little ways into the book, it started to get good. The book is about this boy named Rafe, who's school had gotten burned down. So, he had to go back to his old school: HVMS. He got expelled from that school once already, and he needed back into the school. Rafe and his mom, went to the school and they talked to the teachers about getting him back into the school. The only way he could get back into the school is if he goes to camp. At that camp you live in the woods. You have find your food and cook it yourself. When Rafe arrived at the camp, he realized he wasn't the only person/ kid their. When the sergent talked they had to be quiet. He had to get 20 tags in 1 or 2 weeks. He does it, he gets all 20 tags. When he gets home,he gets back into the school and lives a happy life for long......

P.S. I liked the book!

Rafe Khatchadorian wanted to get into hills Village Middle School and make his mom proud. But Rafe had to go to The Program to make the principle accept him because Rafe got expelled, so Rafe got 20 tags during the week of the program and did a excellent job of show Fish(the director) that he really wanted to be accepted in school. Then, Rafe got accepted in school, but he had to go to a special class and they needed him to be enrolled in some repeat. Middle School: Save Rafe! is about Love, committed, and persistence.

Save Rafe

Date: 15/10/14
Section: 6-3

The book Middle School: Save Rafe is good for several reasons. The first reason is that the book describes the typical teacher. For instance, when all English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers broke their hands because they couldn’t stop putting zeros in Rafe’s grade book. Another reason this book is good is because the way Rafe shows his feelings when he is so sad. For example, when Rafe’s mother told him that he would go back to Hills Town Middle School, rafe lost his mind. That is why I like this book.

In the beginning of the book, Rafe has two characteristics. The first characteristic of Rafe’s is to be a loser because he is acting weird. For instance, when his mother told him that he would go to Hills Town Middle School he started acting crazy like a fireball. The second characteristic that Rafe has is always getting sacred. For example, when Rafe did not want to see a teacher of Hills Town Middle School. He was so scared and starting acting differently and like a coward.

As I continued reading, the story was beginning to feel adventurous. It started when Rafe and his family was going in the car for vacation. Rafe was terrified when he was traveling with his family. His family terrified him with the horrible songs they were singing. Another reason why he was terrified is because his family was going to drop him off to go to outdoor camp with other kids. Rafe is scared from the beginning. When he saw the bus that will take him to camp, he wanted to faint. This is an adventure for Rafe becuase he is out of his comfort zone.

While reading, the author continues his development of the character of Rafe to the reader. Rafe is beginning to label himself as a loser at school. Rafe drew a comic book about his life and his problems with girls. He wrote about an imaginary girl named Winnie that is his "girlfriend". However, Winnie doesn't know that she is his girlfriend yet. To deal with his girl problems, Rafe writes these comics from his imagination. Rafe continues to be creative and write comics about his problems in life. Rafe also begins to think about problems that do not even exist yet and create comics about these made-up situations. The experiences of Rafe are enjoyable and exciting to read.

In continuation of my book, Rafe's vacation was in a camp. Before Rafe had to go, he said goodbye to his family and especially to his mother. Sergeant Fisherman, the leader of the camp welcomed Rafe's mom and told her that Rafe was the last student to arrive. By the time that Rafe had to go to the bus he was trying to hide in differents ways. First, by making the Sergeant think that Rafe's sister was himself. Lastly, by hiding in his mom's van. This is the experience that Rafe had with Sergeant, Fisherman.

I've learned two lessons from my reading. First, is to never go to a camp because the leader could be mean or maybe will not let someone do what they want during their vacation . For instance, when Sergeant Fisherman was being mean by telling what will happen in the real program and also by annoying children all day long. The second lesson is to always defeat your fears and never give up. For example, when Rafe was scared of the camp and gave up, I didn't agree with his decision. I wanted to be in his place and defeat my fears right away. That are the two lessons that I've learned.

In continuation of my reading, Rafe had problems in his camp. When the campers arrived at the Rocky Mountains they had packed up. Sargent Pittman had warned them that they had to take what they need to have during the whole week because they have to take their backpack all the time. After calling the name of every camper, Cowereder announce the program to be done for whole week. Then, Fish told them their first obstacle out of seven in the whole week. The first obstacle was called the tower. The rule of the game is, campers need to get on the top have their dinner in five minutes but, if one of them misses to get his dinner, everybody will their lose dinner. As timer started, every campers got there dinner easily except Rafe because it took him so long to get on the top. Until one more minute left Rafe fell down and everybody had lose dinner. That is the first obstacle that Rafe had to defeat.

In this reading Rafe has two characteristics. The first characteristic that Rafe has is to be a loser. For instance, When Rafe was too scared to go to camp where they had fun and that could push him to the maximum. Another characteristic that Rafe has is to be weak and not strong, as I remember in the beginning of the story. For example, When Rafe could not save a cat that was in a branch of a old lady. That are the characteristics of Rafe.

Friday, November 14, 2014

In continuation of my reading, Rafe could not able to cope up many activities in the camp. One reason why Rafe can't cope in the camp is because he can stand it. For instance, when Sergeant Fish gave the campers a instruction, Rafe quoted and left until Fish found him in the middle of know where. Another reason why Rafe could not adopt to be in the camp is because he could not stand without eating. For example, when Fish told the campers could not eat Rafe was the only one who was dyeing of hunger like a loser. That is the ways why Rafe has many difficulties to be adopt to the camp.

In those passing chapters Rafe has many characteristics that he showed. The first, characteristic that Rafe has is he is not a hard worker. For instance, Rafe doesn't want to try anything and keeps on quoting sometimes. The second, characteristic that Rafe has is to not respect his self and thing of him-self in a negative way that will lose him hope. For example, when Rafe could not talk with Carmen he was stating thinking in his mind that he is a loser and not be a man like the other campers. Those are the characteristic of Rafe in the following chapters in the book.

Middle school save rafe is an adventurous story about a boy trying to move past his obstacles such as school, camp, parents, and principals. Rafe is known as, the school's most outgoing prankster, but in my eyes, rafe is mostly known for misbehaving. Rafe was so caught up with trying to look cool by misbehaving he missed his last chance to behave correctly before he was sent off to the concentration camp. Sadly rafe didn't learn his lesson the first six times he was suspended, Rafe is issued to a concentration camp due to misbehaving so much in school. Rafe has to overcome his fears of being alone and not being funny to others. And as if that’s not bad enough, he’s learned that he’s going to be held back a year if he doesn't survive in the camp filled with dangerous white-water rafting, rock climbing, and bossy counselors. Rafe and the rest of his pack of “delinquents” are forced to cooperate so they can pass the final test, a solo excursion in the deep woods.

I had to say, I’m a fan of the Middle School series and I love Rafe’s character; artistic, wild, curious, and all of that. You see how that gets him in trouble, how that gets him to experience different things, and more.

However, this one, nothing was wrong with Rafe, but the plot was really boring. I didn’t enjoy this one; it’s my least favorite one out of all of them! It’s boring, stale, and I feel like it was just to pump out another Middle School series. I was disappointed! I can’t remember what happened!

This book is a fun and funny book to read. It is stereotypical about how schools are expected to be but in a bad kid's perspective. It gets over exagerated at times but it is so funny and a good book to read in general. I would recomend this book.

For my January Book of the month I chose the book Middle School: Save RAFE by James Patterson. I read this for my free book for the year. This book is about a middle schooler named Rafe who is always in trouble. In previous books he gets expelled from his school and goes to a Visual Arts school. But in this book his Visual Arts school get shut down before he can go back next year. He is forced to go through a camp so he can go back to his old middle school. Read the book to find out what happens at camp.
The strengths of this book are that it is funny but at the same time teaches you life lessons. One weakness is that it is a little under age for me but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I would rate this book 3 out of five stars just because it was okay but I have read better and it was below average on my standards. I would recommend this book to someone younger than me who likes short funny books.

This series of books, targeted at Middle School aged kids, is exemplary. The language, experiences and friendships of the kids are spot on for this audience. The illustrations take the text to a whole new level and are jammed-packed full of emotions, action and just loads of fun! I really love them a lot and having taught that grade level for many years know from personal experience that the kids would get a kick out of them too.

"You heard me"! Mom shouted on the other side of the door. "YOU'RE GOING BACK TO HILLS VILLAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!!"

Here begins the new adventure of Rafe Khatchadorian who was terminated from Hills Village Middle and from two other private art schools. Oh my! Backed into a corner, with no other options before him, he bites the bullet and he and his mom go back to his old school to re-enroll.

This may not be as easy as it seems because the harsh (almost cruel) administrators at HVMS are out to get him. Their names say it all, Mrs. Stricker and Mrs. Stonecase....now who wouldn't want them running your kid's school? The only way for Rafe to come back without having to repeat last year's work is for him to successfully complete "The Program." Now what in the world does that entail ? It is a bootcamp of sorts which requires perseverance, courage and it is mandatory to complete no matter what. Rafe knows it is his only hope of getting back into that school and even more importantly not to let his mom down once again. He accepts the challenge (rather reluctantly at first) and man's up to the tasks ahead of him.

Upon his arrival at the camp he sees a motley crew of kids indeed. He recognizes crazy, delinquent, major loser and then there is himself. His leaders are cold-hearted and authoritative and give no lenience to the pack. This is what is expected of you, now carry it out and get it done pronto. No if and or buts accepted. You fail to show initiative and complete what is set before you...bye bye.

The morning wake up call goes like this....

"Good morning, Cockroaches,
"Time to mow down another challenge, " Sarge Fish said, "Move, move, move, move, moooooooove."

The challenges set before the group require teamwork, trust and successfully completing the task to acquire coveted tokens which ensure you a ticket home. Failure means being expelled from the program and ensuring that you will spend a minimum of four years back in your middle school. Will Rafe make the cut and be a success? As the challenges become more and more difficult can he complete the tasks set before him and earn another token?

Through all these hardships and tough-love scenarios Rafe has an epiphany. Why in the world would he ever want to mess up his life back home with a warm, dry house to live in, lovely home cooked meals compliments of mom and of course the fact that she is always there to to help deal with and solve his problems. He decides then and there to make a life change....one for the better and make everyone proud of him. He realizes he has value and worth and his self-esteem grows inside giving him the knowledge that after completing The Program he will succeed at Hills Village Middle school too.

In the book "Middle School:Save Rafe!", the story is about a guy who gets into trouble a lot at school. He is very talented at his art skills so he went to a school for artists. But his school had to shut down because it wasn't a successful school. Because of that, he had to go back to the middle school he hated he most. When he got to the school it was actually like a boot camp for kids who are trouble makers. So, he has to survive there by doing activities, and when the activity is done right, you get a tag. A tag represents how many activities you've done, the goal is to get twenty by the end of a week. But you have to get 20 tags by the end of the camp, so if you don't get 20, you will have to get a punishment or redo the camp. The main characters/protagonists of this book is Rafe, Carmen, Burp, DJ, Thea, Veronica, Arnie, Diego Sargent Fish, Rafe's mother, and Rafe's grandmother. The characters in these book seem real to me because kids actually get into serious trouble and they do serious punishments for that. The main character Rafe to me is a guy with and average height, black spiky hair, with a innocent look. In the book, Sargent Fish said,"If you let someone walk all over you, that's your choice." This quote is significant because it tells the reader advice about how you shouldn't let people walk over you, but if you want it to happen it's your choice. Rafe gets paired up with Carmen, "snake girl", and they had to do activities with their buddies. For example, picking up the trash, but Rafe does Carmen's work to help her out. This shows that Rafe is nice enough to do his partner's work but he seems gullible enough to do her work so she doesn't blackmail him. I liked this book a lot because it's funny, imaginative, and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read this.

I gave this book 5 stars because it was outstanding. I read the Middle School series book and James Patterson books. His books are interesting to me. After being kicked out of Camp Wanamorra, Rafe goes back home and just before school starts his special arts school closes down. Rafe has to go back to Hills Village Middle School, where he was expelled in 6th grade. However, they don't accept him unless he passes some camp activity, so he has to get through all of this horrible stuff. I don't know why James Patterson books always catch my attention, but like all of his other books these are great for me to read. They include funny parts, not-so -good parts and ok parts. There are sad parts and then the best moments I have ever read. However, I probably won't go any further with these books because they get to easy to read and I need to start looking for better parts. But, still these were the best books that I have ever read in all the books read. Well done James Patterson, another great book done!

When Rafe Khatchadorian's art school closes down, the troublesome boy finds himself once again headed to Hills Village Middle School. Too bad the new administration has decided that Rafe's expulsion still stands unless he completes a week-long outdoor adventure called The Program. Will Rafe end his rule-breaking ways and learn to get along with authority, follow directions, and make connections to help his group complete their tasks, collect their tags, and go home again? Will he continue to go against the grain just for the thrill of breaking all the rules? Rafe's future is in his own hands. He'll have to step up, face his fears, and prove to himself and everyone else that he can be successful to get back in school and get his life back. Rafe's voice is true middle school and the drawings and comics add to the humor as Rafe finds his way through the wilderness of life.

In my opinion I liked the book. There's other books. This was my first Middle School book that I've read the book has a lot of pictures, and comic books. The main kid in the book if Rafe. I know I know it's a weird name that nobody would think of. The thing is, is that Rafe has gone to a bunch of school. He always ended up breaking the rules in every school. Rafe has a "little" crush on a girl named Julie. Julie is always nice to everyone at her school. But anyway back to where i was, sense Rafe was a "bad" kid they sent him to a camp play. The principal gave Rafe and him mother a Pan flint that looks like its really fun. The actual reason why Rafe went there is because, Rafe needs to learn how to be more calm down and know the rules everywhere. I give this a 4 star because is funny and for the people who like funny and "action" if I can say. The people should read it.

Rafe has been expelled from Hills Village Middle School, and the school he was going to go to has closed! What is he going to do? He takes a test - a survival test - to get back into Hills Village Middle School. The problem is - his partner is Carmen, the 'Snake Girl'. He does all the work and gets half the credit, fighting for twenty tags so as to pass this extreme test.

This extremely brilliantic amazing book is hilarious! You have got to read it! Rafe is a very funny character and the adventures he goes on to get into school are insane! This book keeps you occupied for hours, and you will be upset when you finish it!!

This book is very good. But i mostly loved it because of the pictures. It has comics too. (spoiler alert) The middle school he was currently taking shuts down forever so he has to go back to the middle school he hates. But since he got expelled from the past, he has to do this one week thing. It had mostly comedy in it but there was also some action/exercise and i guess a little love. cause one girl in the program tells him "you're cute." but he doesn't like her.
Overall I loved this book. I would read the next book if he is making one.
