Sogo is best friends as well as the right hand of Yamato, the leader of a group of professional punishers called The Team J.A.T. They've known each other since their high school days. Sogo catches Yamato having sex with Hyoudou, the Karate's team captain and the two's relationship soon becomes estranged as Yamato thinks Sogo suddenly dislikes him.
Even so, they eventually work it out and Yamato decides to tell Sogo everything. An everlasting bond develops between them as they share their past and secrets. But an unexpected call could change everything...
Sogo's story which started in Border Volume 4 finally completes!
Kodaka-sensei made her debut in 1989 with Sessa Takuma! in Shounen Champion. Today she is one of the most popular Boys' Love authors. She is famous for her work on designing the characters for Triple X's BL anime Boku no Sekuhara (My Sexual Harassment) and is also the beloved author of Kizuna.
Matoh Sanami taught her how to draw using a shoujo-style. Sanami Matoh and Kazuma Kodaka are actually very good friends.
It's been a long time since I read the previous volume, but I mostly was able to get back into the story.
The thing is, there are many things I love about Kodaka-sensei's writing, but there are just as many things I don't like. I'm just not a big fan of the bulky manly guy/very small, almost childlike feminine guy. (see also: the couple in Kizuma I *didn't* like) So the omake with Will was a bit.. well.
(I used to love her manga a lot in the beginning of my manga-reading career. I still like them, but I've found other mangaka whose works I can love more easily and wholeheartedly.)
But the core relationships, and especially Sougo and Yamato's, are lovely as ever. I have to say the series feels a little.. unplanned, but whatever, I still enjoy reading it. But there isn't a lot development, strictly speaking, especially considering how long we have to wait for a continuation.
I like the characters and the art, and that's good enough for me. I am curious how this'll all end up at some point.
I re-read the other volumes before I started this one and it reminded me how much I love this Manga and the characters. I don't know if I was just really emotional while I was re-reading them but each of the characters fates and life stories made me cry at one point.
Volume 5 is the continuation of Volume 4, showing us Yamato's and Sougo's past, how they met and how they've become friends. I love their story very much. The flashbacks should now be completed and the next volume will probably show us how their story continues in the present. I didn't mind the detailed flashbacks one bit because one thing that I usually like to criticise about a story is the lack of a chance to actually get to know the characters better and get an inside look about why they act the way they do.
An excellent addition to the series. The flashback of Sogo and Yamato's high school days ends well despite the tragedy. Then there is the funny resolution to Hyoudou and Jin's story. And a hot side story of Yamato and Will going on a date to finish off the volume. In the author's note, Kodaka reveals how difficult it's been trying to pair Yamato off. XD
Yamato and Sohgo's high school story, their friendship, is really sweet, but I was mainly happy with how Jin and Hyodo's story ended, at least for now. Though I wish we were given a more serious story for Tamaki since he has been sidelined for 2 volumes now...
Yamato loves Sogo so much it hurts. Sogo does too. Jin and Senpai finally faced their feelings after many years. Even though at one time Senpai loved Yamato. Yamato does finally tell Sogo about Will. They go back in the story to when he was alive to a date they had that was so special to Yamato. But then we see almost as much BL sex as #1. I've liked all the stories but come on I just want to see Sogo and Yamato hook up. Hope there is one more!
