Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.
This was such a fun and spicy romance! Alejandro and Jasmine have clear chemistry from the get go and have almost a forbidden romance due to their working situation.
Firstly I loved the setting of this book - Spain and Jamaica are the perfect pick me up locations to read about in a very cold January.
I liked the slow burn and tension that built up between our two main characters, it felt very believable considering what we learn about there situations and love for the job they do.
Overall this book had all the best tropes - forbidden romance and only one bed, and a perfect swoon worthy MMC. I look forward to reading more from Olivia Spring.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book!
This book is between a 3.5 and a 3.75 stars for me.
This is a dual POV, age-gap coworkers romance, set in Spain and Jamaica. It was a cute fun, quick read, set in some lovely locations. The chapters were short, which really kept the story moving along quickly. I enjoyed that both characters were recovering from their own difficult past relationships, which affected their dynamics and what they wanted out of each other. A lot of the dialogue is sorta on the nose and everything is spelled out in detail (especially the flirting), but all in all that didn't affect my enjoyment of the book too much.
Reverse age gap with the "only one bed" trope? Count me in! This book was a true Jamaican delight. I couldn't get enough of the mouthwatering food and drinks that had me craving more, and the vivid descriptions of the Jamaican beaches and weather made me feel like I was right there. Jasmine and Alejandro were both strong, compelling characters, and I found myself really rooting for them. And a special shoutout to Bob – he was such a fun and memorable character that added a lot of charm to the story.
I personally loved Stella and Max’s story but was excited to hear more about Jasmine and Alejandro. The Love Hotel is opening another property in Jamaica and the two head there to assist the staff. Will they be able to keep their hands off one another to follow Hazel’s rule? This steamy second book is a fast paced, romance with a whole lotta steam! 🌶️🌶️
The first thing I had to note down before I even finished the book, so I remembered, was LUCY PEARL! What a band! When this came up, it gave me all the feels and reminded me of a time in my past, and since then, I have played the album on repeat!
Anyway, the book! Oh, I love this series, and I hope we have more to come, too. It really is romantic and breathtaking, and why can't there be something like this in the world? It is such a happy and feel-good thing to do and have, and the sizzle! I've been dying for this book ever since I read The One That Got Away, and we were given that cliffhanger!! It was most definitely worth the wait! I love Jasmine!
I had to listen to the audiobook as Chloë Sommer is amazing and she gave Jasmine life! So much life! I could imagine some of those scenes might have been fun to record 😉
Just a wonderful time in Jamaica and I loved Bob! He made every page he was on, so much fun and he made me smile. He was just an absolute delight - is there a book about him in the works?
So many tropes, obstacles and morning/afternoon/evening delights. Jasmine is one lucky lady. But I cared about both these characters as they step into uncharted territories. It was beautiful to watch this love blossom and to feel a part of their story.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book!
The second book, What Happens in Paradise, from Olivia Spring’s Love Hotel series, follows Jasmine, a hotel guest manager known as the “Love Alchemist” for her matchmaking skills. However, workplace romances are strictly forbidden. Despite this, she finds herself drawn to Alejandro, a charming sous-chef, forcing her to choose between her job and her feelings.
This was such a sweet and romantic read! I love a good age gap, and the forbidden workplace romance made it even more exciting—I was hooked from the start!
The short chapters kept the pacing fast and engaging. I liked that both characters were healing from past relationships, which shaped their dynamic and what they sought in each other. While the dialogue was a bit on the nose and everything—especially the flirting—was very spelled out, it didn’t take away too much from my enjoyment.
I adored this one!! After meeting Jasmine in book one where she helped Stella and Max reconnect, I was super excited to get my hands on an ARC to read Jasmine’s story.
Jasmine is such a beautiful character, I love that she is such a strong, independent woman. Alejandro is also such a loveable character and that is something I really embrace when reading Olivia’s stories.
When Jasmine and Alejandro are asked to travel to Jamaica to support the opening of a brand new Love Hotel, both of them are nervous at having to spend so much time with one another seeing as they are attracted to each other.
I loved the buildable romance in this, the experiences they had honestly made me feel like I was right there with them! The build up to the spice was everything and I love the way Olivia writes romance!
This was a cute story. Alejandro is a chef and Jasmine is a manager of the Love Hotel. Their relationship is forbidden and they fight the attraction for so long. I enjoyed the language barrier between them two. I felt like the beginning was a little slow, like it was too much wording that dragged on but as the story continued it began to improve. I enjoyed the passion between them as well. Reverse age gaps are always so cute. I enjoyed seeing Alejandro show Jasmine how much he thought she was beautiful. Her insecurities were not going to deter him.

Talk about a couple with chemistry, Jasmine and Alejandro have instant attraction in this workplace travel romance! I think people will root for this couple and their will they or won’t they but they have to relationship. I loved reading about their couple adventures in Jamaica. It made me want to travel there too. I think my friends will also enjoy that she is older and close to 40 years old. Thank you to author Olivia Spring and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read this early for an honest review.
This book is actually book two from ‘The Love Hotel’ series but can very easily be read as a stand alone but does contain a few recurring characters and continuing storyline. And to be quite honest they are such amazing books why wouldn’t you want to read them all!!
Right from the very first page i was absolutely cackling with laughter and i knew instantly that this book was going to pull me in and swallow me up whole!
Even at the very beginning of the story i was intrigued and couldn’t wait to find out what Jasmine’s back story was - i just needed to know all about her!!
This book is set in London, Spain and Jamaica and through Olivia’s wonderful writing style, i honestly felt as though i was there and i could imagine all these amazing places.
Alejandro was not only very swoonworthy but was extremely funny too. He was hilarious when he kept getting confused over different words and phrases!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really enjoyed being immersed in all its heartwarming goodness.
It was funny and romantic and hot and spicy and sensitive and full of the most amazing sounding food!
What Happens In Paradise contains some of my most favourite tropes - age-gap, only one bed, workplace relationship and each of them was written perfectly.
This was an absolutely wonderful, sizzling read and perfect for a spot of armchair travel too…….
I did love the concept of this book. The 'Love Hotel' was really fun, and I Ioved the different names the hotel had in place of staff roles, like a 'Love Alchemist'. I also enjoyed the fake dates our main characters had to go on to explore romantic options for the guests. Unfortunately my praises go a bit downhill from here on. I struggled with the writing style of this book, and felt the characters could have been stronger.
My first critique is a small one, but as I take notes while I read, and this is something I jotted down, I figured I'd include it - I felt a little uncomfortable with the way Alejandro and his sister spoke to each other. They seemed a little too comfortable talking about him being intimate. Alejandro's character is a very honest one, and he says he owes that to his sister, so perhaps it's just the way they've grown up or maybe their culture, I'm unsure, but maybe a better character for those conversations could have been a close friend of his.
Now onto what I disliked about the writing style. I found the sentences too short at times, without some of the embellishments and descriptions that can help bring the writing to life. They felt a little too simple or basic to me, describing too normal of things that the characters were doing, and I found the way things were explained too repetitive at times. Instead of furthering the detail and deepening the emotions described, the feelings felt more surface level and obviously stated. The impact of some scenes fell a little flat. And at other times there were too many filler sentences that described basic actions.
Overall, I found the author was overexplaining a lot of unnecessary things, and under describing what was important, for example, a lot of the scene setting/environment felt a bit empty for me, so I couldn't form a full image.
For other people this might be fine, and maybe not something they'd notice, but I feel I personally need a bit more detail to imagine the scenes more vividly in my mind, rather than just focusing on the characters conversations, which honestly contained too much back and forth of pleasantries, which got quite boring to read through so often.
A lot of scenes in this book were 'told' to the reader and not described. So 'we did this, then that, then this too'. I found myself feeling disconnected from the book, and the romance particularly, as I hadn't experienced it alongside the characters.
Characterisation-wise, I found Jasmine too indecisive to the point that it became a little annoying. She was constantly filled with regret but kept making decisions she knew she would end up regretting. I understand it was part of her character, but I found it frustrating to read as I went along. With Alejandro's character, I found he was simply too polite. It became monotonous, and felt robotic. I liked his character at first, and do think he was wonderful, but he lost personality and excitement for me.
Towards the end of the book, the firing and unfiring felt very unrealistic to me. It happened so fast there was barely time to process it. The build up to their romance was very long, but the 'conflict' of the novel was too fast and disorientating. The Manager then being fired instead of the two main characters made zero sense, as she'd only been doing her job, while Jasmine and Alejandro had behaved inappropriately with company money. I think this resolution could have at least worked better if there was simply more time to sit with it.
I think this novel had a really fun premise, and a cool twist on the 'fake dating' trope. The writing style not being my favourite could be just myself, but I do think the characters need to be stronger, with less indecisive and more separate personalities. They were too nice, and scared of stepping on each others toes, making them lack individual personalities.
Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to review this!
*I received this book as an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review*
I missed the boat for the first book in this series, but will certainly try to read it in the future. I loved the premise of the Love Hotel chain and was even on board with the kooky job titles, such as guest relations being known as Love Alchemists! I didn’t even experience a single eye roll, well maybe just a couple of tiny ones! The setting at the beginning of the book is Spain, and that is delightful but short-lived as our heroine, Jasmine, is tasked with helping to set up a new venue in Jamaica. The only complication to this plan is that her secret crush, Alejandro, the sous-chef, is going with her. He’s younger and devastatingly handsome and has made it clear that he definitely feels the same way about her. However, inter-staff relationships are forbidden and being caught is a sackable offence. What a premise for a spicy rom-com! There is plenty of sizzle but not to the detriment of a really adorable love story. The chemistry between Jasmine and Alejandro is clear, but so is their reluctance to jeopardise their careers, so an opportunity to explore their feelings away from the Spanish observers is too good to miss. I really liked getting to know Jasmine and understanding her reluctance to risk her heart and her job gave me a clear insight into her character. She was determined to rise through the ranks and make a success of the hotel concept that had taken a chance on her. Alejandro, on the other hand, was willing to take risks and had a confidence that was both beguiling and super sexy. His skills in the kitchen were stifled by his domineering head chef, and he also had an overwhelming desire to reach an improved grade within the hotel, maybe even become a Cuisine King. Yes, he was younger than Jasmine but that didn’t concern him even slightly, he knew what he wanted and was determined to claim her as his prize. Once they reached Jamaica, their resolve began to disintegrate, and all bets were off. So buckle up and enjoy the chemistry between this couple of lovestruck employees. I’m pretty sure that you’ll be looking for a return booking.

💬 This was a cute story. This is the second book in the series, and I was introduced to the MCs in the first book called The One That Got Away. (Also a cute story!)
Mostly I just feel neutral about it, it was an enjoyable way to pass the time but there was nothing that particularly stood out except that it was a little repetitive in spots, like when it switches perspectives and the other person basically reiterates what happens and it got a little old with Jasmine constantly talking about how she can't give in and be involved with Alejandro.
The side characters like Bob are fun and endearing, and I liked how we got to see the MCS experience some of the romantic excursions that hotel guests would go on. I think this would be the perfect beach read, it's funny and sweet and romantic.
The next instalment in the spicy Love Hotel series from bestseller Olivia Spring. Find out what happens in paradise in this working together forbidden romance. This time we are following Jasmine and Ale as they try to stay away from each other even though they are being thrown together at every moment. What happens in paradise… stays in paradise!
This romcom had me laughing out loud and cringing in embarrassment for the characters. The author's writing is effortless, making the absurdity of situations feel authentic. Beyond the humor, the story delivers heartwarming moments and swoon-worthy scenes. The perfect blend of spice, romance, and comedy makes this book a must-read for fans of the genre.
If you're looking for a lighthearted, engaging romance with a dash of spice, this book is for you. With its relatable characters, witty dialogue, and heartfelt moments, it's a true page-turner.
I look forward to reading all Olivia’s future novels and highly recommend to all spicy romance loving friends. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I requested and received an advance reader’s copy from NetGalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I struggled with this book unfortunately. I thought the storyline and characters were likable, and really liked the ‘love hotel’ concept. However I wasn’t a huge fan of the boss - employee dynamic and I didn’t like how Alejandro’s chapters were written in quite a different style which made the book feel like it didn’t flow as well as it could have.
What a fun read. I loved the concept of the love hotel so much. I also enjoyed the romance and these characters in there. My favorite character was obviously the fun taxi driver. Im not sure exactly why, but i did feel like something was off/missing. It might be that these characters weren't relatable to me. Nonetheless, it was a good read, and i do recommend.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc of the book!
This was such a cute holiday romance story set in Spain and Jamaica. Alejandro and Jasmine have both gone through life changing events, but have then each a different outlook on life. Alejandro wants to enjoy every moment he has because you never know when it will be your last. Jasmine is more on the guarded side and scared to bring her walls down. Alejandro was able to help her see the value in stepping outside of your comfort zone and he is the epitome of a green flag!
The chapters were on the shorter side, so it made the story move so fast that I read it in one sitting! I loved this book and will definitely read more from Olivia Spring!
Olivia Spring killed it once again. This is book #2 in her The Love Hotel series. I absolutely devoured this book. The chemistry between Jasmine and Alejandro was off the pages. The reverse age gap was fun to read! I cannot wait to read book 3!
Thank you Net Galley, Olivia Spring & Boldwood Books!
I enjoyed this book. Jasmine and Alejandro work together at Love Hotel. They are both attracted to each other but there is a strict rule within the hotel that employees are forbidden to date. Jasmin and Alejandro get selected to go help open a new Love hotel in Jamaica for 2 weeks. Their attraction starts to grow as they spend more time together and they are finding it hard to not act on their feelings. They go do excursions together and try out restaurants. They try to hide their attraction for each other but it becomes impossible and they decide to have a fling while there....what could possibly go wrong? This is an reverse age gap romance. Overall, I thought it was a quick cute read with some spice and would definitely read more in this series.
Loved this fabulous spicy story so much! Forbidden love and an age difference made this romance more interesting than your usual, will they won’t they ones. Two strong characters who tried to resist each other for the sake of their careers, it was entertaining seeing them slowly come together. Gorgeous settings too, and some interesting trips out made this book a real page turner! Definitely moments that were very raunchy but still fun to read without being too graphic. Such a satisfying summer themed book that warmed my heart up nicely and was a pleasure to read. Extremely hot hot hot!

The second book "What Happens in Paradise" belongs to the Love Hotel series by Olivia Spring. The plot tells of the hotel's guest manager, Jasmine, who happens to be a talented "Love Alchemist", a nickname, which she got for her perfect matchmaking. However, match-making among workers is forbidden without exception. Jasmine, however, becomes extremely attracted to Alejandro, an appetizing sous-chef. Yet she has to resist her feelings towards him and adhere to her work duties. Upon the agreement with the manager of the hotel, Jasmine goes to open a new hotel branch in Jamaica. She sees this as an excellent chance to keep away from Alejandro. However, her scheme turns into something quite different once she gets the information that Alejandro will also be with her for a total of 2 weeks. The sultry Jamaican sun, which was the setting, became a minor thing. Additionally, the professional secrecy was not adhered to because they had decided to have their vacation, though secretly.
Jasmine is a determined and passionate girl who is very attached to her work and the guests' happiness in the hotel. Some of the techniques used in the narrative are the multi-perspective approach and the use of flashbacks, which... together the readers are given a wealth of information through these means about the characters, their backgrounds and motivations. Most of the dialogue is normal and, in turn, reveals character relationships.
The story is evenly managed. It has ordered, clear, and interesting concepts that keep the reader engrossed. Each chapter leads smoothly to the following one, which in turn, has a good balance of slow and fast rhythms. The text is easy to read, as the prose is clear and the idea is explained logically and unambiguously."What Happens in Paradise" is an interesting and heartwarming romance which also combines the ideas of forbidden love, self-discovery, and the festive spirit. I loved this age-gap romance! The story is told from the alternating perspectives of Alejandro and Jasmine, both employees at a hotel chain that specializes in creating romantic experiences for its guests. Jasmine, in guest relations, coordinates romantic excursions, ensuring guests have the best experience, while Alejandro is a chef in the hotel's restaurant. Alejandro is kind, ambitious, and has a sexy accent. Jasmine, who hasn't dated since her divorce, finds everything she wants in a man in the handsome Alejandro.
However, there's a twist—Jasmine is Alejandro's boss, and office romances are strictly forbidden. Jasmine tries to resist the fiery passion she feels for Alejandro, but his charm and sincerity make it impossible. Despite his desire to give her everything she's ever wanted, Jasmine is afraid they'll lose everything they've worked for in their careers.
Jasmine and Alejandro's romance is both sensual and sweet. Jasmine, initially reluctant to let love in, is shown by Alejandro that he's looking for more than just a quick fling.
I absolutely loved that the main characters are people of colour, which added a rich layer of authenticity and depth to the story. Alejandro was born in Spain, and Jasmine's family is from Jamaica, bringing unique cultural backgrounds that enhanced the narrative. The settings in Spain and Jamaica added to the romantic allure, making the story even more captivating. I love Caribbean culture, and the references to Jamaican food, dance, and music were really interesting. I plan to check out the songs mentioned in the book. These elements brought the story to life and made it a truly engaging read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the chance to read this novel before its release. Definitely check this one out! It’s spicy and sweet all in one.
I’ve finally completed this wonderful journey. Because this book is exactly that: a wonderful journey to places I haven’t had the chance to see physically yet, but I had the privilege to explore and savor. With two characters I loved deeply and a story that kept me hooked from the first page to the last.
This is What Happens in Paradise, the second book in the The Love Hotel Series, set in a hotel that offers its guests the incredible opportunity to find their soulmate and experience love in all its forms. Although I haven’t yet read the first book of the series, The One That Got Away, I can’t wait to catch up on it, because I loved every aspect of this book and I want to dive back into this captivating world, even though with different characters. So, I’ll tell you that if you want to read What Happens in Paradise before the first book, you can absolutely do so without any issues, as the author made sure to write this book in a way that it can be enjoyed independently, while still hinting at the previous book’s story and characters, sparking curiosity and making you want to start the first book too.
I can’t help but give five stars to this wonderful book, which might even deserve an extra point, especially for its male lead, Alejandro. With his depth, tenderness, and thoughtfulness, he will completely steal your heart. Jasmine, you are one lucky woman!

Olivia Spring’s What Happens in Paradise is a trope-tastic contemporary romance that sizzles!
Hotel guest relations manager Jasmine is not called The Love Alchemist for nothing. Working at the Spanish Love Hotel is a dream come true for Jasmine and although she makes the perfect match for her guests time and time again, she is strictly forbidden from finding her own Mr Right among her fellow members of staff. Jasmine has never had a problem with this – until she claps eyes on drop dead gorgeous sous-chef Alejandro, who has awakened feelings deep within her that have been hidden for ages!
Although the attraction between them is mutual, Jasmine and Alejandro know that they cannot act upon their attraction for one another. Keeping each other at bay was possible at the Spanish Love Hotel, but it becomes increasingly harder to stay professional when they are both sent to Jamaica on a work trip. Forced together under the red-hot Jamaican sun, resisting temptation quickly proves impossible. A secret fling quickly ensues, but with their work trip coming to an end, Jasmine and Alejandro realise that the last thing they want is for their relationship to come to an end.
Will they choose their jobs over their hearts’ desire? Or will they find the strength and courage to fight for a future together?
A sun-kissed romantic tale that makes for the perfect escape during the cold months of the year, Olivia Spring’s What Happens in Paradise is a fun, flirty and feel-good read with a smart and sassy heroine and a swoon-worthy hero readers will fall for. The ideal pick-me-up for readers looking for a romance that will sweep them away, What Happens in Paradise by Olivia Spring delights, entertains and captivates.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Olivia Spring has never disappointed me. And she still hasn’t ! What happens in paradise is a sexy, steamy and fun story about Jasmine who’s supposed to be focused on her career and Alejandro who also needs to focus on his career. When they get put into a forced situation where they not only have to work together, but also test out romance, the sparks start flying as if they never left. AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. The funniest part is that they are attracted to one another, and have been for a long time.
I adored the way this story was set up. Going to Jamaica to build a new love hotel, and testing our excursions to see if couples will like them is PRICELESS! It was the perfect set up and I just loved how it kept me on the edge of my seat. Jasmine, tried so hard to deny everything she was feeling, but the charm of Alejandro kept reeling her back. II loved both characters so much. Their backstories really made me understand why they tried so hard to deny their feelings. Alejandro had lost so much, and Jasmine did as well. It was beautiful to see them work through this together and build a connection of their own.
Jasmine did slightly annoy me about the age thing, but I could understand her fears. But that man just wanted to love her and she needed to just let him. Lol
I don’t like Hazel. It was also very wild how she micromanaged everything.
Overall, this read was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I loved the culture aspect of the story. It was very fun to see Jamaican culture being infused in the story. From the food, to the locations, and facing. It felt very nice to see this in the story.
Thank you Olivia for this wonderful read!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
