Waiting For Them #1

Trial by Errors

Rate this book
It was hate at first sight—until she set him on fire (literally).

Jade Parker is a messy, button-mashing arcade owner with an aversion to authority. Sawyer Phillips is a rigid lawyer whose idea of fun is a properly scheduled dinner to rank the state’s best burgers. Their blind date is a disaster, and they’d be happy never to see each other again—if not for the fact that Sawyer is the insufferable brother of Jade’s best friend's fiancé.

When they’re roped into the glamping trip from hell for a surprise proposal, chaos is inevitable. However, forced to play nice and share a tent, Jade and Sawyer quickly realize they might hate each other less than they thought.

But back in the real world, old wounds, meddling exes, and a looming legal battle threaten to pull them apart. Between lawsuits, unresolved baggage, and a suspiciously persistent purple sweater, Jade and Sawyer will have to decide if love is worth the risk—or if their relationship is just one big game over.

Perfect for fans of witty banter, forced proximity, and sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance, Trial by Errors is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy with plenty of heart. Expect grumpy/sunshine tension, nerdy pop culture references, chaotic camping disasters, and just the right amount of steam.

If you love opposites-attract stories featuring strong heroines, emotionally guarded heroes, and a found family of meddling best friends, this book is your next must-read!

A nice little break from reality.
I found the story funny, but did think the characters were a bit immature.
The back and forth nature of their relationship and unwillingness to admit their feelings was drawn out a bit too long for me. And I don’t know that I’d label it as enemies to lovers, enemies is a pretty strong term for their single meeting before resolving their problems.
Entertaining overall though. 3.5 stars

I chose this book because of the comments I read - “so funny”, “laughed till I cried”, “great characters”, “loved the banter…”. I have to say I may have laughed ONCE, found the “banter” to be boring and oftentimes, it didn’t make sense to the point I had to read parts over several times trying to figure out what they were talking about. Basically, I found this book to be tedious!
There were numerous mistakes throughout the book - words missing, words in sentences that didn’t belong there, and contradictions - Parker tells Sawyers she hates wine but later it’s mentioned she’s drinking wine and has a wine collection. She’s on birth control but next we find (SPOILER ALERT) she’s pregnant. And several others.
Luckily the explicit sex parts I could page through (and they were quite lengthy), which helped get me through the book faster. Really, I don’t need pages and pages of description of Sawyer taking Parker to Pound Town!
Why didn’t I stop reading it? Cuz I was trying to figure out what the point was of this book! Tried to find some kind of a storyline! Never found it.

It was a fun read, with the banter and crazy characters. The concept was nice but could have been delivered better.

But, there is a limit on the level of immaturity at the age of 30.

This one went a little far. Even the moments that were supposed to be serious were made way to lighthearted and immature.

I wanted to see these mature characters acting mature. It rarely happened.

Now to the dialogue. It was in some places awkward, and I had to read sentences over and over just to make sure what I was reading was correct.

Not for me:
I unfortunately found this to be extremely immature. The characters were supposed to be in their thirties but came off as a lot younger. What may be humorous to some, came across as silly and rather pathetic to me. I consequently had a hard time connecting, not only with the characters but the story as a whole.

This was an entertaining rom-com that strikes a great balance between humor and heartfelt moments. The story is told from two perspectives, offering unique insights into both characters' thoughts and emotions, which I really enjoyed. The dual narrative added depth and made the relationship development feel natural and authentic.

The chemistry between the leads is fantastic, and their journey from hesitation to connection felt genuine. One of the book’s strengths is its character development—each character is complex, with believable insecurities and emotional baggage that made their relationship struggles relatable. This depth is often missing in many rom-coms, and it was refreshing to see it handled so well here.

While the story includes explicit scenes, they weren’t my personal preference, and I chose to skip over them. However, for readers who enjoy that aspect, these moments are well-written and fit naturally within the storyline.

Overall, Trial By Errors is a charming and engaging read with memorable characters and a storyline that feels authentic. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance with substance, humor, and a touch of complexity and open door spiciness.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book to review. There may be tiny bits of plot points but no spoilers.

I liked that the two main characters were so different - and the banter and FMC voice was fun against the MMC opposite personality.

There were a few twists and turns in the plot and a couple came up a bit short for me, with one resolution feeling especially rushed It could have been removed as it wasn't needed.
There was a good chance to get to know the characters and to be invested in their lives which a lot of times reads like actual conversation instead of someone writing it.

But overall all it was a fun read, with interesting side characters, loved that it took place in a throwback nostalgic 80's style arcade that also was a restaurant/bar.
Sawyer and (Jade)Parker were fun to read about and the way they supported each other through some hard situations was true to life.

This was my first beta copy of a book and I am glad to say it was worth the read if you like opposites attract scenarios.
I think this is just the beginning for this series and I am interested to know who's story comes next.

Trials by Errors is a soul satisfying read full of complex characters with realistic flaws whose lives are filled with both disappointments, and heartache along with happiness and joy. This is my second book of Andrea Geoppert's and am now a solid fan of her writing.

Jade Parker and Sawyer Phillips, the main characters, are opposites in almost every way who must come together, after a disastrous first meeting, to plan a romantic event for their brothers. He is a successful grumpy lawyer and she is a nerdy owner of a local bar/arcade. Jade and Sawyer are intelligent, driven individuals who bury their broken, unhealed pieces. The supporting characters play a pivital role in the story and they add layers to the emotional moments, pulling the reader's emotions to the surface. I was totally engaged in this book and as much as I liked Sawyer and Jade as individuals, I loved who they were together. I will admit that I was in tears in certain parts and laughing out loud in others and it was perfectly balanced and authentic in every possible way.

I received an advance reader's copy and am leaving a voluntary review based solely on my reading experience.

Trial By Errors is a romance novel that is dual POV.

Wade Parker and Sawyer Phillips cross paths when Wade's best friend and brother, Davie, sets them up on a blind date that goes horribly wrong. Wade is a quirky and independent woman who owns an arcade. Sawyer is a serious and uptight lawyer.

This situation sets the stage for a series of misunderstandings and humorous encounters. They do start bonding during a movie night and a mandatory work retreat for Sawyer’s law firm.

The book explores the complexities of their relationship as they navigate their differences and past hurts. The story is filled with humor, witty banter, and steamy romance. There are several laugh-out-loud moments, particularly during the The romantic tension between the characters is palpable, leading to several passionate encounters. The story also features strong supporting characters.

Three and a half stars.

This book came to me through Voracious Readers, this in no way affects my review.
This is my first book by Andrea Goeppert, and I enjoyed it. Jade Parker and Sawyer Phillips are thrown together by Sawyers brother, in the guise of a blind date. They don't like each other! But, maybe.they do?
Sawyer has issues he needs to address and just isn't dealing well with life in general, Jade isn't much better, and has decided that her love life is never to be since her last boyfriend got her friend pregnant and married her. So, really neither of these two are a great candidate for romance.
But, they haven't met each other yet!
Meddling friends and family, and true love come through in the end.
This was a good read, but I did find myself getting confused with characters, I personally need a good description so i can picture the characters, but that aside it was a really enjoyable read.

This book was quirky and funny. I enjoyed reading it. I loved the serious moments and the comedic bits in there. The story follows Jade Parker and Sawyer Phillips as they attempt to hate then jump each others bones. Both have their own personal demons to deal with if they want this thing to work. The author has great comedic timing in the book and the events mostly flowed naturally. This book is great if you would like a funny HEA romance story to read with some spice. Although as listed in the title, there is some trial and error going on. My only complaint with the book was how quick Parker gives up and needs to be reminded to fight for the relationship when a possible hurdle from Sawyer's side appears but when she messes up she wants to fight for the relationship. Especially towards the end. When you read it, you'll know what I mean. Enjoy the book.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

3.5⭐️

I enjoyed this read overall, especially the cute dialogue and the undeniable nerdy vibes that made the characters stand out. The story delivered a fantastic HEA ending that felt satisfying, with some realistic emotional moments sprinkled throughout, adding depth to the romance.

However, I did notice quite a few typos and grammatical errors (about 17 in total), which slightly detracted from the reading experience.

Barry's character, given his pivotal role in the conflict between the FMC and MMC, could have benefited from a bit more development to deepen the emotional reaction towards him and his impact on the story.

Additionally, the teaser for Grace's story felt somewhat underwhelming. A stronger setup here could have built more excitement for the next book in the series.

Overall, a charming and enjoyable read with room for improvement in editing and character development. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

This was a very fun, silly romcom with lots of heart. I absolutely love the character Jade Parker, and identified with her a lot. I also loved the bickering between her and Sawyer, as well as the interactions with Davie. The book was fast paced, even if the relationship started at a snails pace (it is enemies to lovers after all!)

The nerdy references throughout the book were fun, but they did feel overdone in the first third of the book—enough that I was rolling my eyes quite a bit and sighing “yes she’s a nerd, we get it!”

Jade and Sawyer had good character development, but I wish some of the other characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. Similarly, some of the conflicts could have been expanded upon (I won’t go into detail because spoilers!), but sometimes it made the story feel rushed.

The ending was perfect, including the continuing of chaos. I definitely look forward to reading more in this series!

Overall, I’d give it a 4.5, with a spice rating of 2. There were some open door scenes, but not a ton of in depth details. It’s more of a plot driven book for sure!

Some of us need a break from our daily lives now and then and I will say that I got it coming from this author. Andrea Goeppert shocked me with the sweet, funny story that consists within. I can't imagine working with my ex only to start dating someone incredible right in front of him. I'm not to ashamed to say that I would be more than willing to rub it in his face (since in my story, it'd be all his fault we broke up!)

Watching these two get thrown together time and again was more than hilarious, especially when they try to fight the underlying attraction. It's easy to say "No" when you think they're all wrong for you but how fast things can turn when it turns out that they're Mr or Mrs Right!

I give it a 9 out of 10, and that's only because I want MORE! Can't wait to see what comes next.

Jade and Sawyer both had a lot of issues. As is often the case with older (30’s) people, they are somewhat set in their ways (Jade is nerdy and chaotic, Sawyer is rigid and regimented) AND they both have baggage. Jade has created her dream business but is stuck with her cheating ex as a partner. Sawyer is divorced and suffered a devastating loss. However, Jade’s best friend and Sawyer’s brother are in love so they need to learn to deal with each other. Jade brings feelings and chaos and fun to Sawyer and he teaches her that love and commitment isn’t a trap but support and belonging. Lots of ups and downs and sometimes they were pretty juvenile for 30 year olds, but a wonderful found family full of love.

Andrea Goeppert latest book Trial by Errors is a fun, easy to read romantic comedy. The story is about Jade Parker and Sawyer Phillips two opposites who are forced together when their brother and best friend become engaged. At the beginning of the book, they are enemies who eventually become lovers. The story has some very funny scenes and some surprise twists and turns that the reader would not expect. There is also a cameo visit from (Grayson, Maddie, George, and Miranda) characters from Andrea’s book Sighs by the Sea. I was pleasantly surprised to see them in Trial by Errors. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that there will be more stories featuring these characters. I would rate this book a 4 to 4 1/2.

Enjoyable, amusing rom-com. I really enjoyed this story of complete opposites Parker – who owns a bar/arcade and is a total nerd, and Sawyer – grumpy lawyer! The laughs start when her best friend & colleague, Davie and Sawyer’s brother Jack set them up on a blind date – which doesn’t go well. I liked that there is chemistry between them right from the start despite how hard the two of them fight it. Throw in a hilarious accident with marshmallows round a campfire, Davie & Jack’s romance, and Parker’s poisonous ex and you have all the elements of a classic rom-com; however, there are some serious moments in the story, such as when a tragedy from Sawyer’s past is revealed – adding variations of light and shade within the plot. An enjoyable read.

This was such a cozy comfy romance read and story.

The fmc is the owner of an arcade. And the mmc is a lawyer.
They get set up on a blind date but there is some misunderstanding and the date doesn’t go well (wrong time, only one of them taught it was a date).

So there is hostility.
And then she finds out the guy from the blind date is the brother of her best friends boyfriend. And they have to help plan the proposal!

It’s set for a fun ride. And both the characters have so much growth and the story is greatly written.
They have banter and chemistry!
A camping trip where a lot goes wrong but also a lot goes right.

I enjoyed the story so much!

Jade loves working at the gaming bar she owns. Sawyer is a lawyer who has never played a game in his life. These two are definitely opposites but they are thrown together over and over. Can they find a common ground despite their tough pasts that threaten to keep them apart?

So, this book was definitely a slow start for me and I almost thought I would have to DNF it…but then it all started to click. I realized me liking the book was kind of an enemies to lovers situation much like Jade and Sawyer. The banter started bantering and I fell for them as a couple while they were falling in love with each other. I was rooting for more even as the story began to wrap up. 4.5 stars!

This is one f those books you begin and wonder about, but then you realise your giggling under your breath. The story revolves around Jade Parker who prefers to be known as Parker and is a bit of a nerd, with a heart of gold. Sawyer Phillips who is a straight thinking work oriented lawyer. When these two end up been put together unwittingly the outcome is very funny. But Parker loves her best friend who wants to propose to Sawyers brother and they both would do anything for them. Sit back and enjoy the hilarious misfortunes they both have. But in the end do these two opposites end up as more. Or will their past relationships spoil any hope of a hea.

She has to work with her ex and his new wife which is so hard but things may get more complicated. She is set up on a blind date and it ends very badly and she hopes that is the last she would see him again. Unfortunately life has other plans for them both. It will get worse when they are forced to spend time in a tiny tent. It seems fate has plans for the both. A lovely tale of finding love in the last place they expected

Trial by Errors was a super quick, easy, fun read! It ended up blending all kinds of tropes including enemies to lovers, opposites attract, forced proximity, second chance. It sounds like a lot, but the writing blends them together seamlessly and was a really fun contemporary read. I would definitely recommend to all my romance lovers!

Spicy - 4/5
TW - death (mentioned), toxic ex, mild violence (punching)

Opposites … may find things in common …

Seems like all of Jade Parker’s friends have found their better halves, so he best friend send her on a blind date with Sawyer, a divorcee who’s not really into relationships. He screws up their first meeting and loves it! … but there is attraction between them.
At the beginning the book is quite fun to read, towards the middle it got a bit of a bore, but the story finishes off strong with some curveballs that are real unexpected.

Parker owns a grill and arcade. Her best friend Davie fixes her up with his fiancé, Jack's brother Sawyer. To please Davie and Jack, Parker and Sawyer agree to go on a glamping trip so Parker and Sawyer can help with a proposal trip. Sawyer is divorced and Parker's fiancé got her best friend pregnant so neither are interested in a relationship. The four day glamping trip had a lot of humor. Being together seemed right but it took a lot of energy. Great book with lots of love, humor, and friends supporting each other.

Trial by Errors is a romance comedy book about Jade Parker and Sawyer Phillips. Jade is a gamer nerd who owns her own arcade bar for adults while Sawyer is a big time lawyer. Jade's best friend is marrying Sawyer's brother and the two work to hook them up. I enjoyed seeing them together, but at times they seemed a little too immature. Neither of them wanted to just use words to communicate and it led to a lot of misunderstandings and resentment. Overall it was an enjoyable read but I could have done with the adults in their mid to late 30's to actually act their age.

I always enjoy nerdy romances and this was a good one. I especially loved that the female character was the ultimate video game nerd (she owns an arcade bar) while Sawyer (male) doesn't even know how to play video games. The banter between these two is great both as enemies and as they transition to lovers.

My only complaint is that the names are both unisex and the POV switches between them, so several times I got confused as to who was who. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received a copy of the book from Voracious Readers Only. It’s a cute romance story that’s fairly predictable. Jade and Sawyer are thrown together on a blind date by Jade’s best friend. They appear to be diametrically opposite from one another. Jade is a strong, intelligent and independent woman who co-owns an arcade bar with her ex boyfriend. Sawyer is a reserved and somewhat serious man who’s a lawyer. There’s a few side stories that tie into the plot and they are fairly interesting. So, will Jade and Sawyer end up together? Read this romance story to find out!

Talk about all the feels! This book will make you laugh out loud, mad, cry, leave you a little breathless and warm your heart. Love Sawyer and Jade, he's a little bit of a jerk at first glance and she's more than a little bit of a nerd but they're both so much more than that, love how their written. Some of the side characters are a little annoying but they don't distract from the story. It's a great little story, worth the read.

This is a lovely contemporary romance

All of the characterisation is spot on:

Parker & Sawyer are excellent female & male leads - passion, attitude, human errors, the lot.

Davie, Jack, Grace are brilliant secondary characters - sass & support all around!

The minor roles (Audrey, Richard, Maggie, & Erica - even Barry) are all drawn perfectly for what part they play & how they play it.

The romance is delightful, the sadness is moving, the intimacy is steamy, and the humour is uplifting.

Lovely book!

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers. This book had me hooked right out of the gate. It was witty and endearing actually making me laugh out loud multiple times. The author’s writing style brought the story to life. It exceeded it’s description. I have to admit I procrastinated on reading it for a bit but it turned out to be fantastic! AND I found out there are more books in the series. The story is complete, they are spin offs of the other characters so you can have a complete plot from just this book. I highly recommend! Enjoy!

I liked most of this. Sawyer and Parker were totally opposites, but their dynamic works,
I don't get this "BFFs" who keep secrets from each other thing. I like it when characters confide in their best friends.
There were a lot of humorous moments in this, but it started to verge on it felt like the universe was trying to keep them apart. The epilogue was very sudden and felt out of place.
Davie was kind of an intrusive friend and I didn't get their dynamic.
