Dark Fractured Hearts #2
The Song in My Soul
Accompanying the band, Dark Fractured Hearts, on tour, I find myself swept up in a whirlwind of fun, romance, and steam with my – count them – four new partners. They are everything I could have dreamed of and more. However, it seems four isn’t enough for me or them. As two more good men work to become mine, navigating the complexities of my expanding relationships is hard enough without the added threat of my looming ex.
With my persistent stalker dangerously close and playing twisted games, the band experiences a barrage of security threats, and I find myself caught between my growing love for my men and the need to keep them safe from the danger that I brought to their door. Just when I think my happily ever after is in sight, my psychotic ex escalates, plunging our world into chaos.
Will we be strong enough to withstand a maniac hell-bent on tearing us apart?
The Song in My Soul is book two in a medium-burn, why choose romance trilogy with dark themes and intended for an adult 18+ audience.

NEVER in my life have a read a book that makes me so mad. WHO DID IT!? I guess I won't know until the next book comes out so please Layla hurry!! I definitely have my suspicions though. The epilogue left me with more questions than answers definitely but still worth the read. This book just like the first had me at the edge of my seat and also only took me a day to read (LESS THAN) it was that good. I most definitely will be on the lookout for when the third book is announced for this amazing trilogy. Again I say these boys will have a special place in my heart forever. GIVE BECCA A BREAK! All in all this was an excellent read and I 100 percent recommend this trilogy so far.

UMMMM I NEED BOOK 3??? LIKE NOW.
The last 15% was so intense I’m still struggling to put my thoughts together, the suspense!!!! The twist at the end? WHAT!
This one had some good spicy scenes which I devoured. I loved watching the characters grow and the emotional depth portrayed between the characters. It’s a good RH, why choose book that I found different to others. More slower and more character focused getting to know each of the boys a bit better.
I love the exploration of healing throughout this book & the way each character is written so well. Highly recommend this way & I will be closely watching waiting to get my hands on book 3!

I am going to be completely honest when I say, it’s not the book, it’s me. Which unfortunately led to a DNF.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series, the FMC is a sass ball and the boys fall over themselves looking after her. If you like books with the instalove trope, why choose with a smorgasbord of hot men, and a touch of drama this is for you.
For me personally, I needed more. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of very dark and pitch black romances along with horror so when I say this book wasn’t for me, it just genuinely wasn’t my hitting kinda tropes. This is why I still have it two stars even though I didn’t finish it (and as I said, the first book was so fun).
Thank you to The Barry Agency and Layla Landon for gifting me the ebook. I voluntarily reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are that of my own, and this is my honest review. ❤️

Book two in the To the Beat series picks up right where book one left off and thank god, because that cliffhanger nearly killed me. We finally get more insight into Becca’s backstory, but now I’ve got so many new questions… especially about “SS”.
One of my favourite parts of this book was getting to know all of Becca’s boys better, not just emotionally, but practically. We got to see the ins and outs of their daily routines on tour and what life is really like behind the scenes. It made their world feel so real, and their bond with Becca even deeper.
Also… four boyfriends wasn’t enough? Try SIX. Absolute chaos, but I ate up every second.
Layla delivered again. Emotional, spicy, messy, and addictive. I’ll be waiting (impatiently) for book 3!

Where can I find so many attractive men who just want to give me love and affection??
These men are all you need.
I need the next book, I need to know what happens next and see justice be served! (Hopefully)
I feel so many things when reading this story! There are so many twists and turns. So many secrects and hidden motives!
I don't know where to look 😜
The story thickens here from the first. There is so much happening, so much to take in... and so many hotties to imagine 😆
The love and devotion of these men to Becca are so heartwarming and an emotional rollercoaster.
Peter is a douche canoe and crazy man, but he really does play the villain so well.
Such amazing character development for all of them. It is amazing 😊 It was thrilling and exciting.
Thank you, Layla, for the chance to ARC read this story.

I enjoyed the progression of the story in book two. I think the plot is well thought out and well written so that nothing is given away. I was very happy that both Larry and Mika have officially joined the harem, yay! (Seen it coming though ahah) The character development for all the guys is great while they work together to help to navigate Becca’s ptsd from her past relationship, we also learn more about the guys individually which I love.Lucas is still my favourite but Mika is sneaking up to a very close second. I enjoyed that even though Becca is on the road with the guys she is still working on her novels and not letting the rockstar life take over. The epilogue is diabolical though and now I’m sulking in the corner and waiting for book three!
p.s Peter is a dick

This books picks up right where the last one left off. I swear it never stops for this crew. One thing after another. Had me making some guess along the way and had me flipping through them pages like the book would disappear if I didn’t get through it in time. Her relationships are continuing to grow and new ones develop. I like that each relationship is moving at their own pace and doing their own thing. I will say maybe my favorite part of this whole series so far is the onesies that Lucas wears. I’m constantly searching when reading to see what he’s going to wear next. I definitely giggled and fanned myself a bit and had a few what the heck moments while reading this. Sooooooo many questions. And that epilogue!?!? The gasp that came out of me at the end of it all. Lord have mercy.

The Song In My Soul was a fantastic follow up to The Beat Of My Heart!
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the way the relationships in the Harem evolved slowly and organically, I love the way the guys dote on Becca, and the banter was great.
Poor Becca just can't catch a break!
The who-dun-it cliffhanger at the end???? I do have a notion of who it is. Hopefully, we dont have to wait long for book 3.

“He stole my voice once. He won’t take my song.”
The Song in My Soul picks up exactly where To the Beat of My Heart left off - with Becca facing the sudden, chilling reappearance of her abusive ex. What follows, however, isn’t an action-packed thriller (at least, not at first), but a much more character-driven exploration of healing, love, and chosen family.
Where Book 1 introduced us to the band and Becca’s first steps into her unconventional relationship, Book 2 slows things down, and I actually really appreciated that. The emotional depth in the evolving relationships between Becca and her boys is front and center, and Layla Landon doesn’t rush it. We get to spend time with each of the men, learn their histories, see their insecurities. And yes, maybe a couple of new faces seem ready to join the mix. 👀
This instalment is less about suspense and more about connection. With the band, the music, and the growing polyamorous dynamic. The romance is slow and natural (a rarity in the why-choose genre), and the spicy scenes were beautifully written and emotionally grounded. That said, readers expecting the stalker subplot to drive the narrative early on might be surprised. The suspense element doesn’t truly return until the final stretch of the book.
But when it does? Buckle up. The last 15% is intense, fast-paced, and full of tension. And it ends on a twist that made me immediately wish Book 3 was already in my hands.
Overall, this was a strong second book that deepens the emotional core of the series. It may not be packed with action, but it’s laying the groundwork for something big, and I cannot wait to see where it all leads next.

⚜️ Book Title - The Song in My Soul

⚜️ Rating - ⭐️
⚜️ Some Genre/Themes/Tropes: Adult Fiction, Romance and RH
I received a eBook via The Berry Agency. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.
This is the second book in the series, continuing on from the events of the first. Look, I rated book one two stars, but I still wanted to continue to see if the story picked up, if the plot developed further, and if it could draw me in more. I’ve had books where I didn’t enjoy the first one, but grew more intrigued as the series progressed and they have become some favourite reads.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t continue with this one and ended up DNF-ing at 56%. I just couldn’t connect with the author’s writing style. It felt too repetitive, with a lot of “I did this, I went there, I felt…”. Also constantly a train of thought or scene would go incomplete. It threw me out of the story constantly. Unfortunately, the writing isn’t for me.
I wouldn’t recommend this book to others at this point in time.
I want to say thank you to the author and The Berry Agency for the copy.
Note (How I rate): One is DNF. Two is got there but struggled. Three stars is a good, enjoyable read. Four is an excellent read and five is a comfort read that lingers with me for life. My five stars can be imperfect but to me they hit right.

Thanks again to The Berry Agency for an ARC of this book by Layla Landon.
The song in my soul continues on from book one which ended on a cliff hanger, the start of this book felt like a bit of a letdown in terms of drama. It was kind of a non event in a way. I did again inhale this book, I love the whole concept of it but things were missing here and there for me.
Becca’s Harem grows from four men to six but it is a very medium burn on that front. I do like all the male characters, I feel like they all provide different things for Becca and in the story itself but again I would have loved a few more chapters in their POV.
I did find a few things predictable and I was hanging out for some more interactions between Larry, Lucas and Becca but I assume that will come in book three. Whatever spice scenes we did have in this book were well written though and easy to visualise.
Overall I would continue with the series because I would like to know how it all ends.

Thank you to The Berry Agency and Layla Landon for gifting me this book to review.
While I did enjoy the 2nd book in the series I felt that it was to much like the first book, also alittle flat.
I was hoping for something different with the storyline or just a different feel.
The story itself was good....
i mean, 1 girl and 6 guys and so much love... There's a lot to like.
It was also a very slow burn with some of the guys. and I'm torn about this... One part is like, Yes take it slow and get to know each other.... then the other part of me is like " Just take him (or them) already.
There will be another book in the series and I will be reading this as I would like to see way it goes.
If you like these tropes
*Why Choose
*RH
*MFMMM
*Rockstar
*Abusive Ex
*Stalker
*Past Trauma
100% give this and also the first book - To The Beat Of My Heart - a read.

The Song in my Soul is the sequel to To the Beat of my Heart and follows Becca, and her band of lover boys ON TOUR.
I tried my hardest while I didn't enjoy the first book in the series I had hopes the writing style and dialogue would mature, and the characters would have the opportunity to be further developed - I felt they were quite one dimensional and lacked depth.
Unfortunately I'm going to soft DNF'd this series, I couldn't get past the writing, dialogue and character dynamics - it all felt so forced and ultimately made me cringe a bit.
Thank you The Berry Agency for the e-arcs of To the Beat of my Heart and The Song in my Soul.
I'm might pick this up again one day!

ARC REVIEW: This is book two in this whychoose rock band / romance writer trilogy. It does have some dark parts to it, but most of it is these 6 guys trying to love this curvy romance writer who has had a rough past that has come back to haunt her. These are good, but I honestly can only give them 3/5⭐️, 🌶🌶🌶. To me, there is too much fluff, and it could be condensed down to maybe just the 2 books total. But still check them out.

I enjoyed this book! It had all the great elements that it did in the first book - the humour and the romance (love the MMCs!!) - but boy it really ramped up in the last few chapters. The ending has left me wanting more - I can’t wait to read the next book!
The FMC is sassy and I absolutely love the Aussie humour in this series, not to mention the gorgeous MMCs! Definitely recommend if you want an easy and funny read and you like insta love/reverse harem tropes ☺️

Okay, so you know those books that are just pure, unapologetic escapism? This is one of them. Imagine getting to tour with a rock band and not having to choose just one guitarist to crush on... you get the whole band, plus a few extra for good measure!
This story is a whirlwind of fun, steam, and "why choose?" romance at its finest. The main character's life is basically a daydream come true with not one, not two, but multiple dreamy partners who all adore her. But of course, it's not all backstage passes and happy endings. Her psychotic ex is lurking in the shadows, and the danger he brings is seriously intense.
It's the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and suspenseful. If you're looking for a reverse harem romance with a great balance of heart-pounding tension and heart warming moments (and a seriously creepy villain), you've got to pick this one up. Just be ready to binge it in one sitting

Thank you so much to Chloe from the Berry Agency for my eARC - I am thankful but my review and opinions are still my own 🫶🏼
This book is a RH romance featuring a plus sized FMC and then five? Men. While I’m sure this book will find its audience it was not for me, I didn’t connect with the writing style and in all honesty found some things quite repetitive.
I do hope this book finds its target audience but unfortunately it’s not for me!

The continuation of Becca’s reverse harem world moved us through added spice but throwing in danger from the abusive ex mentioned in Book 1. Each character is built out so much more than I the first.
Enjoyed this book as much as book one.
