"I may be a spinster, but my heart is far from silent..."
Miss Sylvia Sheffield has resigned herself to the quiet life, serving as a companion to her elderly aunt.
Unseen, untouched by love, she finds solace in her books... until she crosses paths with Wesley Montclair, the Earl of Melwood.
Drawn to her quiet strength, he becomes the one man who sees beyond society’s rigid rules. But will the unforgiving ton let them defy fate and find their own happy ending?
"The Earl’s Demure Spinster" is a fascinating Regency romance story, approximately 62,000 words long, and a captivating read. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. If you love Regency and Victorian-era romance, this novel is for you.
This is a take of a spineless hero and a lackluster heroine. This novel felt as if it were composed by an AI generator. It was unnecessarily repetitive, and the plot dilemma was resolved in such an unrealistic way. I labored through it, hoping that it would improve. I would strongly not recommend this novel.
I felt the story was a bit repetitive. The heroine is a sweet young lady now living with her aunt. The hero seems a bit spineless at times and has an over domineered mother who knows who he should marry. He is drawn to the quiet heroine. His mother is cruel to her and the turn around at the end didn’t seem to fit.
At first I really enjoyed watching Sylvia and Wesley’s relationship grow. As the story progressed I found myself becoming very frustrated. Wesley was a BARON, an adult man who could not stand up to his overbearing mother. I understand respect and duty but at what expense? I almost put this book down but I continued and was happy to see this innocent young lady get her HEA.
Orphaned girl meets young man with a formidable mother who is not fond of her, pushes him to marry a diamond he doesn't like. Meanwhile, the girl is being pursued by someone with questionable character.
Clean, forgiveness, not judging unknown, feeling bullied, loss, love,
Silvia was raised in bath, by her father, when he died, she went to live with her aunt Grace. I'm London for the season, she got ridiculed for not being of high ton. When she met Wesley the Viscount life gets more exciting. And although a rival and the lords mother will try to keep them apart. Love has no status, and it will prevail. Thank you ♥️
The main male character is incredibly week. He can't stand up to his mother or for himself in public. His sister is rather superficial.
While the story line had the making of a nice novel, there was a lot of bolstering by repetition, hammering home the same thoughts or descriptions again and again just to increase the volume of the book.
A romantic story with a collection of characters from a determined, scheming mother, a spoiled debutante, a handful of true friends, and sweet woman looking for love, an unsure Earl, and a scoundrel to boot. A simple plot leading to a happily ever after.
This book was a little hard to keep reading since the man would not stand up for himself even though he is a duke. Although in the end things change for a happy ending.
