The Night Talks: A dark poetry collection

Rate this book
"The night talks, unbound, scoring truth in words." The Night Talks takes the reader on a journey through the long night, giving voice to the person we are in the dark, vulnerable to the invisible, the past, our beliefs and ourselves.

Caelan Scott uses elements of myth, horror, religion and bittersweet hope to explore the nature of humanity, hoping to anchor those without the words to explain what plagues us in the dark.

I enjoyed THE NIGHT TALKS immensely. This beautifully written collection is both emotional and cerebral simultaneously. I'm looking forward to reading more from Scott. Highly recommended!

Although I love reading I hadn't picked up a book in a very long time, let alone something that doesn't really call to me, such as poetry.

Picking up this book however from the first few pages had me completely absorbed and has given me a new found appreciation for poetry. This book really does highlight a lot of internal thoughts many people aren't vocal about in the light of day, or to people we are close with, as I went through the pages it was like many of my own inner demons had been given a voice.
Though at the same time made me feel less alone in having them, comforted even. To have a book that really ignites your interest and resonate with you at the same time is truly special.

I really can say that I recommend this book, not just for the captivating words but also for the fact that it's so honest and genuinely thought provoking. Definitely a book you would want to sit with during a quiet evening with a hot drink and a blanket!

Caelan Scott's first collection is a fascinating journey into the night and all the unfolding darkness within. It's been a long time since I've read a new voice in poetry whose writing is so immediate, captivating and immersive. The poems cover a wide breadth of the human experience and resonated deeply with myself as I'm sure it will with any readers who like to delve into the shadows. Their evocative language was a joy to read and The Night Talks is highly recommended to anyone who likes to delve beneath the magic and mystique of the nocturnal.
