Before the changing of tides, there is always silence. A prolonged silence to warn people about what’s coming, an insufferable silence that promises pain, and an epic silence that guarantees an event that will carve itself into history. For Choi Yoori, the changing of her tides has started. No matter how hard she tries to escape from her crime-ridden past, the shadows of her former self – the notorious Queen of the Underworld – continue to torment her existence. Earthshattering secrets that An Soo Jin took to the grave has resurfaced, imminent danger from a once distant past has reemerged, and an end that Yoori will never see coming is approaching. As the finalities of her borrowed time approaches, Yoori continues to fight with everything she has to hang onto the one she loves most in this world – the King of Serpents. It will be a battle of a lifetime that will carve itself into history, for if she loses, it will ignite the greatest war the Underworld has ever seen.
I wanted to love this book more but I started hating Yoori. She was mean stubborn and let's not forget a tease. I was waiting for that "well played" moment by the author where you hate the entire book and the ending comes and blows you away and changes the 4 stars to five stars yeah didn't happen. I hate So Jin and to have to read her view kinda sucked. I also hate that the authors website isn't updated and I can't find when the final book will be published and may be starting to think it may never be... Ugh
You know when you just can't seem to put down a book once you start reading? This series did that to me.
I'll say this again - I first stumbled upon this way back before it was published to physical copies, shared by a very dear friend of mine.
I absolutely LOVE this book. I got sucked up so badly once I start and it only took me a bucket of tears and a whole round of roller coaster of emotions to make me halt my reading for the day.
I felt the butterflies, the tension, the suspense and hurt I experienced while reading this book was indescribable.
This book is definitely the full course meal. Everything starts adding up. Characters' true faces get shown. Hidden groups emerge from the darkness. It's what I've been waiting for since Book 1 and it makes me equally excited to know there will be a forth installment soon. If there wasn't, then I guess I'll just have to deal with the cliffhanger ending.
Yoori and Taehyun's love continually struggles and their weaknesses and outside factors get the best of them. It's might seem annoying (the make-up & break-up routine) but I like how unsteady their relationship is. I also enjoy how they aren't finished finding out who they really are and until they do, they can't really be with one another.
Am I sadistic in wanting more detail in the torture and fighting scenes? I sort of wanted more from them. The dialogue still needs work. It reads a little awkward like if this book was translated from another language to English. Do continue reading though, especially if you've picked up he series this far. I have a feeling blood will shed and it'll be from a great fight.
I don't see this as a book series at all. I realize that it was first posted of some kind of a fanfiction website. And even though this HAD to go through editors, it still feels like it belongs in a forum.
"Welcome to the Underworld" looked like a promising story but damn this whole series feels like a draft. I like reading drafts. Drafts prove you've made a progress. This? This went through publishers. Did they not give critique? Did they only care about the fact that this was a popular fanfic which had a lot of readers already? An existing fanbase guarantess money but jesus-freaking-christ. This is at the same logic and writing level as Fifty Shades of Grey. Which is bad.
I'm going to finish the last book and then I will hate myself a bit more.
OMG!! THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ THIS YEAR. THE ENDING GOT ME LIKE "IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!" I COULD NOT DROP THIS BOOK. PICKING UP THE FOURTH ONE AFTER I FINISH WRITING THIS COMMENT.
This turned up into an effin soap opera. Even her brother is scheming, come on! The last few chapters saved the entire book for me. An Soo Jin is back!
OMG!!!! What an absolute devious plot. A lot of Cho Yoori's alter ego's past An Soo Jin has been finally revealed here of what went down three years prior...and man it is something that I never anticipated. First off the relationship between Cho Yoori and Tae Hyun has been severely tested to the limits until finally another dark secret of Soo Jin has been spilled...one that finally broke them apart. So I was crying ugly when I realized that their Paris was doomed to fail from the beginning. But as Choi Yoori lay down broken, so does Soo Jin emerged and we are taken back to the time of the events that led Soo Jin to be Cho Yoori. It was filled with lies, betrayal, shocking truths and brutality that only a revered Queen of the Underworld would undertake. But even the best laid plan can go awry and meeting the Prince that Soo Jin has been anticipating three years prior would be so intertwined with her present life in ways she never anticipated. To be honest i am actually looking forward to how this meeting between Soo Jin and Tae Hyun will go down and who will ultimately get the throne for the one true God of the Underworld. The ending was such a freaking cliffy but it was brill and so I can't complain much except to say that I want the next book now!!!!!
This book needed an very hard editing team, there is so much filler i want to take my eyes out. The mistery was gooood so goood, but christ everything else suuucks. Plus, it could have happened anywhere, there is nothing that makes the place seoul, except when they say its seoul. They are supposed to be bloodthirsty gangs, but we never see that. We onlu see/know thatsoo jin is merciless, but we are supposed to hate her and cheer for yoori. But tae hyun and the broders are as violent as she, but we never see that so they csn be "the good bad guys". Plus, the choices yoori makes are so dumb, she knows its dumb but she does it anyways This had potential but it went to hell swiftly and without stops.
This series gets better and better. the plots get better, the drama epic and the characters?? Wow!!! I feel like I've been living in an American Korea since I started with this series and I am so glad I started it when all the books are out. I'm loving this one.
To my over romantic friends...this is more a drama/thriller/fantasy/non-fantasy category with a love interest...but a really good one!
Can this book get any better? I'm once again thrilled to be reading Con's book again and let me tell ya, it's amazing. I bought this book the second she released it and this is such a plot twist! This book is definitely a 100/5. ^_^
Fuck yes!!!! Yes, yES, yes yes yes YES!!! Do I even need to mention that this was so, sooo much better than second book, better by miles in fact. GOD. This was grEAT, like uuuugh yES. Do I make sense, of course I do.
I loved how we find out the story behind Yooris past actions as her former self. I felt like the story stretched way too long in showing her relationship with Tae Hyun. I loved the moment when her former self arises out of the dead and how she manipulated so many situations.
Finally Soo Jin returns! I wonder what she has in her mind. Will she return back to her normal self or does she still love Tae Hyun? I really can't wait for the last book! Hope it comes out soon.
