Being the town’s grumpy recluse never bothered me. Until she came back.

Liam Keaton

Since taking over the family’s inn, I’ve been left behind. None of my brothers offered to help. Leaving me to shoulder the weight of saving the inn.

The town has dubbed me an unapproachable lost cause. But no one knows what I’m dealing with. The pressures to succeed and keep the family dream alive has turned me into someone I don’t recognize.

That is until Violet Turner moved back to town and turned everything I thought I wanted upside down. Now, the inn isn’t my sole focus. The woman who shined a light onto my darkness has stolen my focus.

Violet Turner

New York was never my dream. It was my mother’s and stepfather’s. When Gram’s bakery flooded from a burst pipe, going back to Balsam Cliffs was a no brainer. I couldn’t leave her to figure it out on her own. My dream has always been to run the bakery with her.

Summers with Gram were my favorite. Having Liam as my best friend was the cherry on top of the sundae. Too bad my mother stopped me from coming back all those years ago, it left me without the chance to say goodbye to Liam. He’s always been in the back of my mind as the years passed.

But I don’t have to wait too long to figure out what he’s been up to because he’s still here, running the inn. Only he’s different than the boy I used to know. His black cat personality follows him around like a raincloud.

When an idea strikes that will help gram and I stay in business, and allow me to get closer to Liam, I have to take a chance.

All I need to do is find the courage to ask an old friend for a favor.

This is a super fast easy read that I really enjoyed!
My favorite was that the MCs were not pining away for each other secretly for more than half the book. They picked up almost right where they left off when they last saw eachother. (childhood best friends)

There is a bit of mystery when Andrew enters the chat, and that really helps to keep the book going and the reading easy. It gets spicy pretty quick and the spice is sprinkled throughout but not in an overbearing way.

I love that it was based around Valentine’s Day because it was such an easy backdrop to get behind! The small town vibes and my girl were immaculate.

J. Hutchison does it again! I am already so in love with the Balsam Cliff Series. Obviously, I love a good small town romance!

After being childhood best friends, Violet hasn’t been back to Balsam Cliff for 10 years. Liam is the grouchy, now man, that is miserable without his best friend. After Violets grandmother’s bakery floods, she returns to help. Can Vi turn the big bad wolf into a man that smiles again?

I absolutely loved everything about this book. The way the book is written I felt like I was right there in the small town of Balsam Cliffs. The love story between Liam and Violet was so fun to watch unfold. This was such a happy fast paced read. I loved all the characters in the book and can’t wait to see what is in store for the next book in this series. This series is going to be amazing.

This book was a delightful read. Violet was determined to help her gran fix her bakery after it is flooded, so she returns to Balsam Cliffs, ditching the city and school she hates. The plot was well developed, and I enjoyed reading Liam and Violet's journey, especially when they have to deal with some issues that arise, especially when Violet's mother was involved.

Thank you for the ARC.

I am glad I decided to pick up this book from a new to me author. It was a pleasant surprise kind of read. I love the characters and the storyline, anytime I get to visit a new small town, sign me up!

Liam and Violet take us on a journey to a second chance. Violet returns to Balsam Cliffs after a time in a city she has come to hate. Realizing after 10 years, it is time to return home.

I read this book in about a day, it was hard to put down, because I needed to know what was going to happen.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

A grumpy/ sunshine story always warms my heart. I also love the stories where someone returns to their small town to find their childhood friend there, living their life, an adult version of the person that they once knew. That’s exactly what was in this book. I did appreciate the different take where the FMC actually really wanted to return home but was prevented by her mother. This book gave me all the good feels and didn’t feel like the same old story rehashed. This book was not too long but long enough that I really felt a depth to the characters, especially the main ones. I felt like it read quickly and had a slight slow burn, although the MCs were both able to acknowledge their feelings for each other fairly quickly. This gave all the small town feels, a touch of angst, and you just can’t beat the grumpy reclusive man having to plan a Valentine’s Day dance with a bunch of women because he is actually too nice to say no.

The main characters in this book were so cute. Liam was that sexy, muscular, lumberjack type. But my favorite thing about him was that he didn’t realize how wonderful he was because he was different than his siblings. He often pointed out that they were all jocks and his whole life he was overlooked for them. He preferred to do woodworking, and who doesn’t love a man that is good with his hands. I love that he was different but still so masculine. Violet was adorable. The best thing she ever did was find her strength and break free from what her mother wanted for her to do what she wanted. She was sweet, but still so strong. When she wouldn’t put up with Liam’s alphahole posturing, she showed that she wasn’t the simple people pleaser that she had always been.

I have had the opportunity to read a good amount of this author’s books, and I have almost come to expect the amazingly sweet but masculine men as well as the sweet but strong women. And Hutchinson absolutely did not disappoint with this story. The spicy build up was hot and when the characters got to more spicy scenes, they were absolutely explosive. This book was sweet, spicy, well written, and gave me the warm cozy feels like sitting by the fire reading. 😉 This was a perfect book for the Valentine’s season, but also if you just want a sweet cozy romance with a grump and sweetheart.

Liam and Violet were childhood best friends and were inseparable every summer that Violet went to stay at her grandmothers in the small town of Balsam Cliffs. It has been ten years since they have seen each other, when one summer, Violet just stopped visiting. Now Liam has taken over his families Inn, and in those years, has become the town's grump. Violet has been living in New York, going to culinary school, and living in an apartment that her mother and stepfather pay for. The only problem is that she hates living there and mostly the people her parents make her surround herself with. Her dream has always been to move to Balsam Cliffs and help her grandmother run the bakery. When she gets a call that the bakery gets flooded, she takes that as a sign and packs up her things, and drives out to help her grandmother.

Being back in Balsam Cliffs brings back so many memories for Violet, especially those spent with Liam. When Liam sees Violet for the first time in ten years, those teenage feelings come rushing back, and it gets harder to hide when they have to work together. Liam and Violet are perfect for each other, and I loved that them getting together didn't drag on for the majority of the book, and they were able to pretty much jump back in where they left off years ago. The only problem is that they each have their own insecurities, which causes them to jump to conclusions and run away instead of communicating and getting straight answers.

I really enjoyed reading how they all came together to help each other out. The bond that Liam has with his brothers and sister is amazing. I loved how they also came together for Violet when they realized who Alexander really was. That whole twist was crazy and so is that part of Violet's family. I can't wait to read the next book, because it seems like we will be getting a story about Emma and her mystery man, who I believe is not so mysterious, if you figured it out in the last couple of chapters.

Made For You is book one in the Balsam Cliff series and it was the perfect opening to this series. It was sweet and cute with a dash of suspense that just hooked my attention after a few chapters. This book follows Violet who is finally returning to Balsam Cliff for the first time in years and has no plans of moving back to the city her mother made her stay in. Liam is the grumpy, a*shole lumberjack, who owns the bed and breakfast in town that his family started but it’s off to a rocky start with all of the renovations that need to be completed.

Liam and Violet were best friends every time Violet came to town for her summer breaks they were attached at the hip and everyone knew it. They both had crushes on each other then and they still do now but Liam has no idea how to go about it and screws everything up in a matter of days. I loved the slight suspense in this book and not knowing who the “bad” guy was working with and never having clear answers. The side characters were amazing and hilarious, they had me laughing at some points. The meddling townspeople were top of the list and I loved every single moment they stuck their nose in Liam and Violet’s business. Overall this book was amazing at times I wished these two had better communication skills and actually talked but I think in order for the story to work they needed to be this way. I loved that Violet didn’t just fold to Liam and let him get away with things and stood up for herself.

Please check trigger warnings before reading! If you are looking for a sweet, quick, childhood friend to lovers, small town romance check this one out!

Loved this book, it was such a cute, captivating, and gripping story. I love a good small town romance book with a friends to lovers and it’s always been you tropes. Finished this in less than one day, couldn’t put it down, it was so good 😫🙌🏼. I love Liam and Violet’s love story. It’s sad that they were separated for 10 years, but I’m happy that they reunited and were able to rekindle their relationship. Even though they’re were some ups and downs throughout the their story. They have always known that they were it for each other and that there has never been anyone else. I definitely recommend, 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️’s. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Also love Gran ( Violet’s grandmother), she has always known that they were meant for each other. Since they were little kids, Gran approves of their relationship.

Violet is sweet, caring, loving, thoughtful, talented, and affectionate. She’s always wanted to stay in Balsam Cliffs and run the bakery with her grandmother but her mother forced her to move away to New York. Now she’s back and she’s determined to stay.

Love Liam, he is super sweet, thoughtful, kind and caring. He’s also hardworking, independent, stubborn, possessive, protective, and prideful. He has low self esteem and insecurities about himself that he has to work on. Yes he makes some mistakes but he makes it right.

He’s a grumpy lumberjack and Violet calls him Big bad wolf 🐺

Made for you by @author.jhutchison was the cutest ya’ll! 🥹 this was a 4.5/5 for me 💗 Thank you to @torchlitink & @author.jhutchison for allowing me to read this e-ARC. It was a true honor!

This was definitely giving off hallmark vibes with a hint of spice which I love! I’m obsessed with Liam he is your total grumpy x jealous but when it comes to closed doors 😏 you already know! lol

Also that kitchen scene 👀👀 I was all in for it! 🔥

When he respond back to Violet’s Bad Wolf comment & says “Why? If I’m the big bad wolf I could eat you all up” or when he says “Use me, Beautiful” 👀🔥 one of my favorite quotes in this book! 😍

I love how this was a childhood friends into lovers story. That is honestly one of my favorite tropes in a book and this book was just cute overall! You got your lumberjack x baker which is why it felt like a hallmark movie to me especially this takes place on the coast in Maine where Liam owns a Victorian Inn and then you have Violet who comes back to visit Balsam to help with her Gran’s bakery shop.

I would highly recommend reading this book especially if you’re looking for a cute small town romance that is a quick read ✨💗 this book was definitely cozy and sweet and I think you would love it to! 🥰

Small town, friends to lovers with a kinda twist of second chance and absolutely amazing!

Liam and Violet have been best of friends since they were little kids and Violet would come visit her gran in the small town of Balsam Cliffs. Then one summer she never came back. After years of wishing and hoping she would come back, Liam’s behavior changed, he become known as the town grump over the years. Always working around the Inn he now runs on a full time position. He never expected to see Violet back in their small town. When he gets talked into helping with the Valentine’s Day dance he gets a shock of a lifetime.

Violet has always loved visiting her gran and helping out at her bakery, so much she plans to move and help her run the business. She is tired of being a pawn in her stepfather’s and mother’s life. So she finally decided to live for herself and leave New York City behind her and go help her gran remodel the bakery.

I loved these two. The way they just kind of pick up right where they left their relationship, just add in more spicy stuff lol. You can tell they are meant for each other. I did love how Violet made Liam work for her.
Now bring on the rest of the Keaton family!!

A huge thank you to the author and @torchlitink for this free eARC!

This was a super cute super quick read with all of the great tropes! I really fell in love with the town and felt like the authors descriptions really helped to transport you into the world.

The absolute standouts for me were Liam's siblings.
Liam (bless him) has a lot of negative (wrong) feelings about himself and how his siblings perceive him but his siblings just care too much about him. They're so fun and written so well, I'm super excited to see
where the next book goes when it follows Liam's sister.

The above being said, there was something missing for me with this story, I didn't connect as much with the MCs as I would have liked and the romance did occur really quickly without much build.

If you want a quick read, that's easy to follow with the above tropes then this will hit the spot

Made for You by J. Hutchison is a heartwarming small-town romance with cozy vibes, childhood sweethearts, and just the right touch of sweetness.

As the first book in the Balcam Cliffs series, it follows Liam & Violet, bringing their second-chance love story to life.

💖 What I Loved:

✅ Cozy Feels – The warmth in this story is just priceless! It wraps you up like a comforting hug.
✅ Small-Town Charm – Nosy yet caring neighbors make Balcam Cliffs feel so real and inviting.
✅ Emma Stole the Show – She stood out the most for me, and I can't wait for her book next!
✅ Low Drama, High Heart – The story kept it simple, which made it an easy, feel-good read.

❌ What Didn’t Work:

⏳ The Beginning Felt Rushed – I wish the foundation of Liam & Violet’s story had been built up more before diving in.

Made For You by J. Hutchison

Small town vibes, with all the feels. Grumpy × Sunshine, a second chance at what could have been.

I love small town romances especially when theyre filled with all the meddling neighbors, outsiders stirring up more trouble, and nosey family members.

Liam is the towns grumpy recluse working himself to the bone just trying to get his family's inn out of the red and follow his dream. Violet is the girl from his past who he spent his summers with until she just stopped coming.

With a second chance will his grumpiness scare her away. Will they give into their feelings and give themselves a second chance. Or will a man connected to her step father ruin it before it really begins? Will egos and trust issues get in the way?

Liam is the sweetest grump. And wat hing him navigate all his feeling and grow into himself and learn to let others in is amazing to watch. I loved the banter and watching his relationship grow with Violet. And find true happiness. This was a sweet small town romance. And I can't wait to see more from the Keaton family and this series.

This book is perfect, I was absolutely obsessed with Liam and Violet. Their childhood friendship getting to bloom into something beautiful ten years later, I’m a fan! Violet hasn’t been to Balsam Cliffs in ten years because of her mother and who she married. Violet realizes shes not on the path she would like to be and she finds out her grandmother is in need of help so she drops everything to go back and help her fix her bakery. Liam has been the recluse grump ever since Violet didn’t return to spend summers with her grandmother in the cliffs. They both get the shock seeing each other after 10 years and things pick up just like they left off. Their journey into finding their place in each others life’s now ten years later, there was a lot more adult emotion for it. I couldn’t put down the read at all. I have to go back and re read the series with the rest of the Keaton brothers because you will see past characters in this story but its not required to read them to understand Violet and Liams journey in this book. Keep up the great work, J Hutch!

This was a sweet small town romance story about childhood friends to lovers. Grumpy vs. Sunshine / Lumberjack vs. Baker!

I love the characters & I even love Grumpy Liam. There is just something about him taking over his family’s inn & working so hard to keep the inn going! He’s grumpy, strong, hot & hardworking! Violet is a beautiful ray of sunshine! I was rooting for Liam & Violet. The tension, the chemistry, the heat & the spice between them. Behind Liam’s grumpy & tough exterior.. he’s truly sweet, especially with Violet. Their connection has always been there & it’s obvious! I love them together, so cute! Liam’s siblings are funny & they definitely made this story fun! & the last 3 chapters .. oh my heart 😍🥰

So well written & easy to read. I was engaged from start to finish! Overall this was truly a beautiful sweet story!

This is a cute story (with a little spice sprinkled in) about two childhood friends in a small town that get a second chance at love. As I have recently renovated my dad’s childhood home that was in disrepair because of his illness, I really related to Liam. It is hard to be stuck with all the work and responsibility of “saving” the family even it if it is your dream. And, like Violet I moved away only to find out my small hometown was not so bad. All together these characters were well-developed, flawed and relatable.

I loved the chemistry between them, and how Violet made Liam really work for what he wanted – both at the inn and with her! I also appreciated the use of food as a love language. I wish I had someone that would cook for and bring me food!

This is a sweet, fast, feel-good read. I do have to admit the miscommunication trope was slightly overdone for me but liked the nostalgia of the quaint inn and the childhood romance.

This was such a sweet story! This is my first book by this author and definitely will not be my last!

Liam is struggling to keep his family’s inn running. Every single day he works himself to the bone trying to keep his head above water. He’s known around town to be very grumpy. All it took was Violet returning to their hometown to make him smile again.

Violet was back in Balsam Cliffs to help her grandmother run her bakery. She couldn’t be happier being back home. Running into Liam again made her realize that her heart has always belonged here.

I loved Liam and Violet. She was able to break through his grumpy exterior and make him smile again. Liam’s siblings had me laughing with the way they kept giving him a hard time about Violet. I truly hope they all get their own stories. Overall, I loved this story so much!

This was such a cute fast read! I absolutely loved Liam & Violet. This was a second chance romance which I’m a complete sucker for. This is a small town friends to lovers. Although we start the story with Liam being a grump, he quickly turned his attitude around once Violet came back. The way he won her over were total swoon worthy moments. Violet had this awesome bubbly attitude that just made everyone gravitate toward her. The only reason this wasn’t a 5 star for me is because I wish there was just a little more relationship building on page. Yes they were childhood friends but 10 years had passed so it would have just been nice to get more in dept conversations between the two. However this story was still great regardless & can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

This review WILL contain spoilers. Read at your own risk!!

I started off really loving this book. I loved the town and the whole premise of "big city girl goes back to the small town" and the second Chance romance set up. It was all so charming and cute...

And at 35% the miscommunication trope set in and basically continued through the entire book. The second one miscommunication would be resolved another would spring up. Unfortunately there is no bigger turn off for me in a book than adults not communicating.

What I did like: the town, the Keaton family dynamics, Gran, the kittens, the vivid descriptions of foods and the use of food as a love language.

If you don't mind miscommunication you would probably enjoy this book quite a bit. Overall, it was an easy read. It just wasn't to my taste.

Liam and Violet are childhood friends but they lose contact when she leaves their small town to pursue her culinary studies in New York City, at her mom’s request. When her grandma’s bakery is in trouble, Violet finally heads back to Balsam Cliffs after almost a decade away.

Despite the time apart, their friendship is reignited easily and soon both of them want it to become more. But Liam has his insecurities to overcome.

The inn sounds lovely and I enjoyed seeing grumpy Liam change his ways and learning to earn back Violet’s favor. Despite that, he knows her so well and gives her the best gift possible at the end. Similarly for Violet, she had to learn to trust Liam as well and to decide for herself whether to remain in Balsam Cliffs.

The book was a pretty quick read and it sets the story for Emma’s turn next.

Made For You is the first in the new Balsam Cliffs series!! Once I started this book it had me hooked from the beginning and kept me interested throughout. This book was a first from J. Hutchinson that I have read and makes me want more!

Liam has taken over his family inn while none of his other brothers wanted it. Liam is determined to make the inn succeed and keep the family legacy alive. Liam realizes that Violet, his childhood best friend, is back in town. Violet recently found out that her Gram's bakery flooded from a burst pipe and gives her a perfect opportunity to go back to help. Violet ends up running into Liam who she hasn't seen in years. Her mother wouldn't let her say goodbye to Liam before dragging her off to New York. She realizes he took over the local inn and makes a proposition that would benefit both of them.

There are aspects of this story that I liked a lot: small town romance, childhood best friends, quiet but hot MMC. My main issue was the way some of those tropes felt like they didn’t really pay off.

The good: the beginning of the book does a great job establishing the characters, the world, and the relationships they have. It’s a small town romance, so everyone knows everyone. The initial meeting after all these years was so cute!

The bad: this story relies heavily on the miscommunication trope. In a way that, even for a romance, felt unnatural. Someone says something that seems out of character for them but makes you mad? Better not speak to them for a week. It made the middle of the book pretty frustrating.

Ultimately, if you like small town romance and can handle miscommunication, this story is probably up your alley!

The grumpy recluse reunites with his childhood crush, the upbeat and ever-sassy baker. Violet and Liam are cute, and their story is even cuter. I thought a lot was going on between the bakery, the inn, the overbearing parents, the loss of virginity, and the weird guest… but it all comes together, and I realized that each piece played a role in getting to the HEA. I just thought some of these things that seemed like a big issue were resolved so quickly as if it didn’t really matter that much. IMO, things were moving fast in this book. A lot quicker than I would have liked. Nevertheless, I would like a grumpy inn owner of my own, also named Liam, and everything will be right in the world.

Thank you @author.jhutchison & @torchlitink for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This story was absolutely adorable! It had all the cozy and heartfelt Hallmark feels, but with a nice touch of spice. The male lead is a carpenter with a passion for woodworking, while the female lead is a talented baker. They were childhood friends who reunite after a decade apart due to Violet's mom relocating her to New York. Grumpy Liam is just the cutest character, especially when he makes gifts by hand—such a sweet touch! The supporting characters were fantastic too, with Gran stealing the show. She was so wise and perceptive about everyone’s true feelings.

Set in a stunning Victorian inn nestled in the Balsam cliffs, the vivid imagery and the detailed description of the location and elaborate Valentine’s party were truly captivating. I really appreciated the author's attention to detail.

I can't wait to see what happens next in the series!

Made For You is the most beautiful tale of childhood friends to lovers.
Liam is the hottest, most grumpy, lumber snack ever. Violet is the feistiest sunshine! Together they are a match made in Heaven! Their connection is something that every relationship needs. And the sexual chemistry/tension was sweat worthy.

Their relationship was by no means flawless and there were some times of trust issues that had to be worked through. But overall this story was written in the style of perfection by J. Hutchison!

This was such a sweet, fun, and quick read. It was such a cute picturesque town and setting. I’m always sucker for the small town “Gilmore” type towns and I felt like Liam was the grumpy Luke in this book. I was able to binge this book in one setting and like all the side characters too!

I enjoyed the friends to lovers trope, grumpy vs sunshine, the old town people and all the banter between the siblings. I’m excited to read more about this sweet town and learn more about the other siblings. I highly recommend this one!

I really enjoyed reading Made for You - the main characters are so relatable, and I caught myself rooting for them throughout the story. It had me going through so many different emotions and I couldn't put the story down because I had to know the end! It is very fast paced.

Violet comes back to small town Balsom Cliffs after 10 years to help her Gran with her bakery after a pipe burst and ruined the store. While there, she rekindles her friendship with, now inn keeper, Liam. The book takes you on a beautiful, bumpy, love filled ride!
