Frankly this book surprised me in a couple ways. First, because I'm not a fan of the sport of boxing, and wondered why I decided to read it. Secondly, it's a stunning example to many that determination and hard work, plus the aid of faith and good friendships can be the encouragement needed to fulfill ones desires. That encouragement and message of devotion is so often needed especially by young people.

Though relatively short, this story is heartwarming. Thoughtfully enjoyed the relationships that developed between Roman and his newfound friends. The trainers surely knew their stuff and could size up the opponents Roman faced. I really liked the backstory of Roman and his wife but truly wished this storyline was more fully developed. Mainly because I found it interesting that a violinist and the big guy built so loving of a relationship.

As for the ending... very mixed feelings. Yes I know it is God's will. And sometimes God answers our prayers very differently than we expect.

Great book for kids. Like the focus of the book on Alaska and Fairbanks. I want to know what happens to Roman.

Not really a boxing fan but ....

It was an entertaining read. Quick, with not a whole lot of fluff, it gets straight to the point. The ending was good!
