The moment I met Davide Valenti, I wanted him.

He was alluring in the kind of way that makes good girls like me want to break all the rules.

So I did. I broke my rules for him, and in turn, he gave me what I craved.

Hearts and Flowers.

Yet I wanted more. I wanted to know him, claim him the same way he had claimed me. But you can't claim that which doesn't exist. A mirage. A man who showed me one face while showing the world another. A complicated man. A dangerous man.

Now I'm caught up in his world. Trapped under all that is dark and dangerous. From hearts and flowers to guns and knives.

I want out. But I fear it's too late.

★★★★ 4 Stars! ** It's LIVE on Amazon !!

"Sometimes love just happened. Exploring the whys of it was an exercise in futility."

Romance. Passion. Intrigue.

Blurred Lines by Jennifer K. Brand is a fast-paced, passion filled standalone romance filled with action and suspense. The prologue immediately grabbed my attention and I stayed invested in Lori and Davide's story until the final page. The combination of romance and intrigue made this a unique and thrilling debut and I'm already looking forward to more of this author's work in the future!

When 27 year old lawyer Lori Brinkley goes on a week long vacation to Barcelona, she never expected her life to change so irrevocably. What was supposed to be a vacation fling, turned out to have some unexpected life-altering consequences...

"'Operation get the hottie manager in bed' was now in full swing."

From the moment she meets the handsome hotel manager Davide Valenti, she's attracted to his charming gestures and alluring appearance. So, when he asks her out and diner turns into a night full of passion, she's determined to take advantage of their shared attraction and enjoy her time with him, just for a week. Never could she have guessed, her one week of fun would come back to haunt her in the most unexpected ways.

Lori was a very straight-forward, feisty heroine and I really admired her ability to remain so level-headed, even in the most stressful or dangerous situations. The fact that her POV was written in first person, while Davide's was written in third person, made it easy for me to relate to her.

Then there's Davide, who starts off as the typical charm-your-pants off bad boy with his adorable smile and irresistible looks. At times, he could be a real jerk, but beneath his tough guy exterior he actually has a kind heart and ultimately, all he wants is to protect Lori and keep her safe from his violent world. Because of his past, I was really rooting for him to finally get his happy ending with Lori by his side.

From hearts and flowers to guns and knives, Blurred Lines is one thrilling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat with it's many twists and turns. And in between all of that the passion and growing feelings between Lori and Davide provide a "lighter" distraction from all the action and suspense.

"I didn't realize how utterly empty my life had been until you showed me what I could have."

The law-abiding lawyer and the reckless mobster son... could two opposites like that ever make it work? Or are their world just too far apart to ever be united with each other? Read the story, and find it out for yourselves! ;)

Recommend read - no cliffhanger.

REVENGE

Ok hmmm well this was different!! Wasn't at all dark like I thought it was going to be, but still a good read, got a bit bored with it in the beginning just wasn't to sure where the story was going to go but about half way it started picking up and I became absorbed with it..This book pretty much had it all though, passion, romance, suspense and a shit load of action..

CAPTIVE

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We first came across Lori at the beginning of the story where she's bound in a dark windowless room, she recalls taking a stroll then the next minute wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings, which all point to Davide (Operation get the hottie manager into bed) who she had a brief if somewhat steamy affair whilst on holiday abroad..

HE WAS THE SON OF A DRUG LORD OR MAFIA DON

A year goes by and Lori returns to Barcelona in the hopes of finding Davide and rekindling their attraction, this is where things take a turn for the worst!!

We both lived on opposite sides of the world, we would probably never see each other again. And we were both content on that fact. Until I wanted more.

blurred lines

Blurred Lines by Jennifer K. Brand is a suspenseful action packed romance tale that will is filled with twist and turns. Lines become blurred as to who to trust and what secrets are yet to be exposed when romance begins to bloom for Lori and Davide.

On a week long work trip to Barcelona, Lori Brinkley is an upcoming lawyer at Miller & Miller. While on vacation, Lori decides to let loose and is immediately charmed and drawn to Davide Valenti, the hotel manager. Within a week, passion blooms between the two but Lori’s stay in Barcelona is coming to an end. So Lori’s vacation fling come to an end. Or does it?

A year has passed and it seems Lori can’t shake away the possible feelings that she has for Davide so she heads back to Barcelona and begins her search. Well unfortunately for Lori, asking around for Davide led her to some unforeseen trouble. Bound and gagged, it seems Davide is not the man Lori fell for. The lines of love and work obligations becomes blurred when Davide’s secret identity and what he does for a living begins to unravel. Will Davide risk his identity and secret affairs for Lori, the woman who has gotten under his skin?

Blurred Lines was an action packed romantic suspense that kept readers guessing on what will happen to Davide and Lori. I did enjoy the book but I found myself not really understanding the emotional connection of Davide and Lori. They did not lack in physical connection but I wanted to know more of Davide and why he was drawn to Lori. Besides, endless amount of orgasms and sex, I think the emotional connection was the missing piece in making this book a 4+ star book.

I am not going to rate this book.

When i read the synopis i was like

But i am sorry to say i didn't feel any connection with the characters or the story.
Maybe it's just me but

of the stereotypical bad guy/kidnap/good "smart" girl romance.

Somewhere in the future i might give this book another try....

The story is okay...
After she was released from captivity and went back to New York, I kind of just breeze through. Then he went to New York to see her from afar. They had arguments, he left her coz he wanted more. then he came back again. blah blah blahh...

Everything was just a blur, I just skipped and read here and there, I just usually read the conversations but skipped the 'gang' part coz it didn't interest me at all..

When Raf died and Hector said it wasn't him who killed Raf, I knew that Raf isn't dead.

I loved how part of the story turned a little dark and the while mystery.
Lori meets Davide while away in Barcelona. They spend 6 days together. One year later, Lori cannot stop thinking about Davide and decides to go back to Barcelona to find him. In the process, of looking for Davide, Lori is kidnapped and she discovers Davide is not who he said he was when they first met.
Lori is a professional. An attorney for a big law firm in New York. At first I was not sure if I would be able to understand why a professional would go chasing a guy that she met a year before and had a brief fling with. However, the author did a great job connecting me to Lori and Davide. There was a lot of chemistry between these two characters. Lori is kidnapped during her search and that is where the story takes off. What I want to add is that I felt the real connection and feelings that Davide had for Lori during the period she was kidnapped and she was learning about who the real Davide was.
Some of my issues are that I am getting tired of the stereotypical best friends like Macy. Even though Macy is married, you would never know. Her verbiage screamed “slut.” She got on my nerves immediately.
This is a nice read with romance, suspense, and action.

This book was a huge meh to me. I fell asleep while reading it which is never a good case when it comes to me 'cause I never do that.

The heroine confused me 'cause for someone who's proud of / in love of herself, she exudes insecurities. She apparently has C boobs and beautiful skin and hair and good blowjob skills but she was also very virginal. Or maybe I'm just being judgmental. Whatever.

The plot is a tad bit clichè and the writing's okay.

Overall it is a 2 for me. Sorry.

The law firm Lori works for has just won a big defense case for a suspected mafia leader Raffaele D'Amato. As thanks, he sends the members on his team to a five star hotel in Barcelona. Lori and her best friend Macy are doing some serious drinking and dancing and decide to find Lori a man to have a fling with while there. Lori is hesitant against the idea until she comes face to face with Davide. Davide introduces himself as the manager of the hotel. After Lori finally agrees to go out with him, they start a week long hot romance where she begins to fall in love with him. She wants more and believes Davide does too but leaves and goes back to New York after he tells her not to make it more than it is.

The book starts out with Lori being kidnapped after she's come back to Barcelona a year after the week affair looking to reconnect with Davide. She can't forget him no matter how hard she's tried. She learns the hard way that Davide isn't who she thought, but is somehow connected to the mob.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but you'll learn about Davide and who he really is and the reasons for him being in Barcelona. It's not all it seems. You'll get to witness him struggling with his feelings for Lori which as it turns out, aren't one sided. There are twists and turns, a number of shady characters, guns and murder, and secrets. But at the end, you'll get a happy ending in this stand alone.

Recap: I read this book in one night. It felt okay, it has certain part that my heart screams amazing but other than that, it just okay. I am comfort reading this book, nothing heavy. No scary killing and no prostitution, none. I mean, they have the business but no characters are mentioned in the prostitution. They actually tried to stop it. I know, it feel weird but still, you need to read the book. You still want to know who is Raffaele and why Davide is in two organisations.

Wow! Just wow!

What more could you want from a book?

Sex? Yes
Mystery? Yes
God like man? Yes

I loved this book right from the start, she had me hooked from the very first chapter.

You get thrown into the deep end right from the start, all the emotions are right there, you can feel them, taste them, like you are right there in the book.!

It starts off with a dramatic scene, someone has been kidnapped, they are sitting in a dark room going through all the phobias of what they could possibly have or been going through!

Now this person was trying to remember what they had done, if anything.

They kept wondering why they weren't panicking, it must of been the shock, of course they were just a normal person.

So of course you're probably wondering who has been kidnapped!

I was shouting already by this point, the suspense of not knowing who was in that room was killing me!

Male or female?
Young or old?
Innocent or guilty?

And then something happens, something to shed light on a matter, someone comes into the room to ask one of the most important questions and that is recurring throughout the book.

"Well, start by telling me why you were looking for Davide. What do you want from him? How do you know him?"

The person, yes person we still don't know yet!! Seems to be somewhat relived by this question, they could at least answer this question.

But who is the mystery person that walks in and who is Davide?
And of course, who is the hostage?!

So we find out the hostage is our beautiful if not slightly shy leading lady, Lori, and she is on holiday, in Barcelona, due to to one of her company's clients, who just so happens to be the biggest client!!

Lori is a law student, she works for a prestige law firm, Miller and Miller in New York, this is how we come across Davide.

Now Davide is a hotel manager, he is our leading man, but all is not how it seems with him, he is hiding a deep, dark secret which makes him all the more appealing and Lori agrees, who wouldn't?!

He's tall, well muscled, and has beautiful green eyes and dark hair, yum!!

Davide spots Lori dancing with one of her work colleagues and friends, Macy, and he instantly wants her and Lori wants him to!

He finally manages to get her on her own, so they go for walk, then come across somewhere to sit and chat where things progress, she can feel the jolt electricity as their fingers brushed, and she felt the zing when their lips touched.

"God, you smell so fucking good"

She leans in closer and and Davide took this opportunity to explore her body but it all became too much and she bolts! Yes bolts!

I was swooning here!

She makes it back to bedroom unscathed and without bumping into Macy who would all the details and lets be honest, who can blame her?!

The next morning a knock awoke Lori,
"Buenos Dias Senorita, Senor Valenti sent this up for you".

It was an envelope.

I was extremely curious here," Lori, I hope I didn't scare you off last night. I'm sorry if I did. I was hoping you could join me in the private dining room for breakfast. I need to apologize in person, Davide."

Wow! I was smitten but he is as sweet as he is making out?

As Lori goes down to meet him she bumps into Macy and promises to feel her in later on.

So she finally finds him and just stares and who can blame the girl?!

She leisurely checks him not realizing he had finished his phone call, she looks up to find him studying her, a small smile on his lips.

"It's going to be really hard to apologize if you keep looking at like that" he smiled, this time a full on the lips, blind them with my colgate white teeth of a smile.

"Maybe I don't want you to apologize. Maybe I want you to continue where you left off".

Davide lets out a ragged breath and stalked towards her, but before she could even complete that thought he had pounced on her and she was flat on her back!

His mouth was hungry and searching and his hand was on her calf was starting to move up her thigh and she could feel his growing erection and lets just say he was endowed down there!

By the time this had registered his hand had found its intended destination, the pleasure she felt short-circuited her brain, you see, Lori had not had sex in a while to the point where she had named her purple dildo Jake, yes ladies, Jake! And as much as she loved him he was nothing on Davide!

Jennifer has a way with sex scenes that will make you hot and bothered and maybe panting, she is not crude, she is steamy and hot, she knows what we want to read without the crudeness.

Lori becomes lost in the pleasure that he lavishes on her, she can't help it, he knows all the spots and presses them all!

Now, who doesn't want this bloke?!

Lori soon becomes aware of the cutlery digging into her back and staggers up from the table and they decide to move somewhere more comfortable.

Lori decides to return the favor, she bends to release him from his trousers which brings her eye level with cock.
She takes him to the back of throat and cups his balls, she feels heady with power. Giving head was paradoxical that way. Being on your knees while bringing a man to his.

Jennifer really has hit the spot with the sex scenes, she injects the right amount steam leaving you wanting more.

They spend more and time together, getting to know each other, and Lori gets too attached she knows it has to end and soon, she flies back to New York soon, and Davide becomes withdrawn, closing himself off and maybe this is for the best.

But is he going to be easy to forget?

I get a feeling that Davide is a hard man to forget, but maybe Lori should try.

All she wanted was for him to honest with her. She wanted not be the only wanting more, but they say actions speak louder than words.

After she returns back home, Lori throws herself back into work, trying to forget him but she can't, so Macy tries to take her mind off him.

She decides that is girls night out.

Me, you and Jose.

"Who's Jose"?
"You know, my best friend Jose, who never comes by without his buddies salt and lemon"

This spells trouble for Lori but it is much needed, she needs to stop moping, shes never going to see him again, or is she?!

So the night progresses and Lori spills but Macy also has news, Lori has got a promotion, but is this good or bad?

And what cost?

Due to her promotion Lori finds out some interesting facts, facts that lead her to Davide and Raffaele D'Amato.

But as first thought, all as not as it seems and Lori soon find herself in hot water.

"So it is said that if you know your enemies and yourself, you will fight without danger in battles. If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose. If you know neither yourself nor enemy, you will always endanger yourself."

How true this turns out to be for our poor Lori, but she is completely unaware of the danger she is putting herself in and consequently Davide.

Lori has discovered who Davide really is but she can cope with reality of it all?

Davide watches Lori, but he just can't take it anymore so he goes up to her door but Lori has other ideas concerning this, she has had enough of his coming and going in her life.

"You leave now, you don't come back Davide."

She hardened her stance, she had to show him she was serious, she was not going to be his plaything anymore, it hurt too much.
He was taking a piece of her every time he left, he was breaking her.

Things turn from bad to worse for this couple, can Davide fix it or is it all too late for them?
Too late for Lori?

Davide managed to fix but Lori was still wary, can she trust him? He's left for good, she needs to believe him, she loves him.

"He was it for me. This was it for me. Permanent. Lasting. Persisting. Enduring. Unfading."

Can they overcome the troubles thrown their way?

Will Davide's past catch up him?

This is their story, read it or miss it.

This book is steamy and full surprise, it will intrigue you and have you begging for more.

It's heartbreak and hell, it's love and hope, fear and trust.

I dare you not to cry, laugh and shout at these two.

When a client from Lori Brinkley’s law firm treats Lori and her team to a trip to Barcelona, little did she know that her life would be forever altered. It’s there on her relaxing escape that she meets Davide Valenti, the mouth-watering hotel manager who sweeps her off her feet in a week of passion. When her time in Barcelona came to an end, Lori left a part of her heart there with Davide, and her return to the normalcy of her life in the states didn’t ease her pain. A year later, when she finally had enough wondering “what if?,” Lori packed up and went back to find the man who she just couldn’t forget. What she found there was not what she expected, though, and she was hurled into a world of danger that she never signed up for.

So, the premise of this story had me intrigued, because I love the whole “Rico Suave is actually a bad, bad, boy” concept. Lori’s questionable decision to go all the way back to Barcelona for a guy she only knew for a week aside, I was excited for the thrills and drama that I knew would come with her finding out Davide was not what he seemed. Davide did a complete 180 from the man she’d met, going from sexy romantic to coldhearted bastard in a blink. He was between a rock and a hard place, having to pretend to be the lethal monster he was meant to be while at the same time wanting to keep Lori safe from his world. The question was whether or not he could be convincing enough to protect her without blowing his own cover, which meant a whole lot of tension between these two lovers.

While I liked the push-and-pull of Davide having to play two sides, the emotion behind what he and Lori were supposedly feeling was lost here. Lori came across as too needy and oblivious at times, and for an intelligent successful attorney it annoyed me that she was so naïve. Davide was so drawn to her and she to him, but all they really seemed to have was a great physical chemistry that at times was over the top for their situation. I wanted to feel their connection so I could get more into the story, but it just wasn’t there for me. I did like the action and unexpected turns, though, so all in all it was an enjoyable read!

Quotes:

“You really have to stop sneaking up on me,” I said smiling. “Now where’s the fun in that?” he asked leaning to kiss my cheek.
I was starting to love this very European gesture. ~Loc 342

I knew he felt it. But it was as if he didn’t want to put a name to it lest it become real. Every time he touched me I felt it had become more. But he never said those words and I was too much of a coward to. So just like him, I stuck to showing him without the words. ~Loc 631

No, it was not love. He was way too practical for such an impulsive feeling. Yet whatever it was, he’d felt drawn to her. It was the goodness that shined through her. It resonated with everything he wished he’d been, had he been given the chance. ~Loc 1248

Blurred Lines, Jennifer K Brand.
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

The book plunges straight in with lawyer Lori having been kidnapped, but she has no idea why? It's clear she's been sucked into some high crime problems, and they think she knows more about the man she had a one week fling with than she does...
Then we go back a year, and Lori and her friend Marcey are part of the team that have just been involved in getting a high profile client cleared of any crimes, and as a thankyou he's paid for them to have a week in a 5 star hotel in Spain. Macey tells Lori its time to foregt the 80 hour working week, and to get her vagina dusted off and in use...and right on cue she's asked to stay and have a drink with a sinfully sexy man. It turns out he's the hotel manager, and they spend most of the week making love..then she has to leave. She tried to suggest they keep in touch, feeling it was more than a fling to both of them, but Davide turns cold. “Don't make this more than it is Lori” he warns. Harsh, but its a side of him we'll see much more of.
A year on and she's trying to find him at the hotel, unable to let go of what they had. No one knows him though, and then suddenly she's caught. Trapped and wakes tied up in a cold, mouldy, dank, windowless room. It's clear she's in real danger, but what on earth has she done – and how can she get out of it?
Well, that sets the tone of the book, moments of sweet love, interspersed with lots of danger, puzzles to work out, double dealing, drugs and sex trafficking, and the usual immoral, underbelly criminals that frequent this world, who will turn instantly if the price is right. No-one can be trusted. When she finds Davide is part of it too she's heartbroken and yet....sometimes he's the tender, sweet, loving man she knows, others he seems happy to discuss how best to get rid of her with the gang leader, even if it means death. She's terrified, can she escape? Is she going to get raped, trafficked, killed? It doesn't seem like Davide is the man she thought he was, and she's got herself in a real mess.
It's a novel full of drama, crime and all the death that brings, people who are not what they seem, help from unexpected sources, and so much emotion and action. Poor Lori – all she wanted to do was see if her holiday romance could be more, and look whats happened to her. Whatever the result her life is changed for good.
I enjoyed this read, enjoyed the way I tried ( unsucessfully ) to work out just how Davide was involved, who he really was, what was gong to happen. Like lots of NA romances the reader needs to suspend realities and accept whats happened as real, not get bogged down in whether events could happen that way – just enjoy the ride, after all its Fiction!
Stars: great fun, four stars.

3 1/2 stars

One of the first things that draws me to a book is the obvious, the synopsis, but the most important thing are the first several pages, because if the beginning is too slow, there's a good chance I'm not going to continue. Well, Blurred Lines was a perfect example of how a book should begin. You're immediately plunged into Lori's kidnapping, which raises loads of questions and makes the book more appealing.

Lori is a young professional who wants to be spontaneous and have a one-night-stand with the hot hotel manager where she is vacationing. Davide's dark, sexy, and mysterious nature is just what Lori needs to shake up her by-the-rules life. Davide and Lori instantly hit it off and end up spending the rest of Lori's vacation together, but when Lori suggests that she wants more, Davide is hesitant and Lori puts on her big girl panties and returns home.

Lori can't seem to get Davide out of her head and decides to return to Barcelona to find him. Her inquiries about Davide's whereabouts make her a target by a cartel and she is kidnapped. This is where it starts to hit the fan because one of her kidnappers is Davide.

Davide protects Lori from the rest of the cartel members and plans for her escape, but in the meantime, he spends as much time with her as possible, knowing he'll never see her again once she leaves. This is where I felt a connection between the H/h. They get to really know each other and as they do, their desperation to stay together grows and they treat each moment together as their last.

Davide is a hard man, groomed for cartel life, with one goal, revenge for the death of his former lover, but he knows if Lori becomes his, she'd become a target, so when she is released from captivity, he tries his best to forget her.

Lori tries to go back to her normal life, but Davide's enemies come for her, knowing she's Davide's weakness. Lori was a strong character who had her man's back, even when her life was on the line. Her loyalty and sacrifice were admirable. Davide let down his guard and Lori helped heal his broken heart. Lori became his family and his best friend. She made him want to be a good man, someone she wouldn't be afraid to love and Davide fought to keep Lori, even when there was a chance she couldn't deal with his true nature.

This book was like an action movie, car chases, kidnappings and torture. There were also some great twists. Just when I thought I had things figured out, I was shoved in another direction.

What sort of an ending was THAT??? Is there gonna be a sequel?? If yes then WHY??? What's the need?? If no then WHY couldn't the author just clear up the story in this novel????
and there were some really weird things in the novel. for starters,
Also, I was annoyed to know that our hero and Lori's boss had the same name: David. Like, woman, don't you know girls DIG to have heroes with unique names or at least names that aren't common enough that even the old BOSS is named the same??
Anyways, I liked the story. I hated the whole stuff mentioned in the spoiler and I hated the name shit but still, a nice try to give us a good plot. I REALLY hope there's no sequel and that the author clears up the end through some short story or some blog post because I HATE it when authors just start writing sequels although they aren't needed.

Blurred Lines by Jennifer Brand is a fast paced, romance, thriller. Lori Brinkley works for a lawyers office in New York City along side her best friend Macy. Raffaele D' Amato, one of their biggest clients has paid for the team to spend a week in Barcelona, Spain. While there Lori meets the hotels general manager, Davide Valenti. Lori begins to have feelings for Davide by the end of the week and really wishes she didn't have to head back to New York. She tries to get Davide to keep in touch and even visit, but he will not commit to something, anything. A year has past and Lori finds herself back in Barcelona looking for Davide. No one has ever heard of him or seen him. Lori is then kidnapped because she is asking about Davide.

Davide Valenti is part of a criminal group that Davide is trying to avenge his last lovers death by going after the group that killed her. In doing so he has put Lori at risk. Lori is being held by his boss. Davide forms a plan to get Lori out of there before they decide to kill her. Davide has to risk his life to save Lori's but is it too late. Someone always has to pay for the crime.

" I came to Barcelona because I couldn't stop thinking about you. A whole year and all I could think about was you." Her voice quivered, but she went on. "You can pretend nothing happened between us. You're good at pretending, I see that now. but not even you could wish away those six days we had. I see it in your eyes, they meant something to you to. SO go ahead and do whatever you want with me, but you'll regret it Davide."

I would recommend this book to my friends.

DNF at 25%

Needs cleaning up. Author is clearly not American, though she insults on writing from an American woman's pov. I was bored and the lack of editing and abundance of mistakes were too much for me.
