Sunny Smith the baby of the Smith family, a ball of sunshine to everyone around her. Still dealing with the fall out of her longtime boyfriend Hassan's death. Losing herself in the chaos of a mess that Hassan left behind, she struggles to return to the woman she once knew.
Paisley Smith the elusive Smith sister that isolates herself after years of misjudgment from her family. Ready to free herself from her past bondage she finds her inner voice, ready to stand on her own two feet.
When these two sisters run into cousins Pharaoh and Cairo it's not love at first sight. Pharaoh the oldest is an alpha male that doesn't deal well with disrespect. Crossing paths with Sunny leaves him with a bad taste in his mouth.
Cairo the calm cousin isn't available for love. Stuck on the woman that has his heart. He only offers one night stands. What's he to do when he crosses paths with Paisley and she has him breaking all his rules.
As soon as I finished Faded Memories of Love, I knew immediately that I would be taking a deep dive into this authors short catalog. And I have a feeling, a time will be had! This book started a little heavy, and i thought it was going to be an emotional one but nope - the drama started unfolding and I was hooked. There’s a heavy dose of comedic relief and I was literally laughing out loud so many times, especially when Seven snatched Sunny’s wig off her head in public LMAO! The main male characters are cousins, Cairo and Pharoah, and the main female characters are sisters, Sunny and Paisley. And it was Pharaoh for me! *swoon* I can’t imagine any other woman for Pharaoh but Sunny; she was the female version of him. Their storyline was so chaotic and toxic but they worked so well together! Cairo and Paisley were in a very sticky situation, because Cairo was anti-love and grieving. I felt Cairo was content with coparenting, until he realized Paisley was a darn good woman! The book was a page-turner; it had drama, healing, humor and a happily ever after. I enjoyed going on this ride with these characters and I am looking forward to knowing more about Serenity’s journey.
This book had so much going on. Everybody was toxic and out of control. I laughed so much because of the outrageousness of all the characters. I did enjoy all the drama of the story but I honestly never really got to the point of rooting for the couples. I'm so glad it ended and there was no cliffhanger, but the drama with Rainee could have been explored more. It kind of just got put as an afterthought and that was the meat of an entire storyline.
This story was so good , filled with drama , mess, love just all the things . I really enjoying diving in to this story . & my first read from Ni’ssan I must say well done . All the character was pure enjoyment but it’s Sunny & Pharaoh for me! But Paisley & Cairo they was something also! Read!
Good read, both couples were enjoyable I kind of wish each would have got their own story so that the reader could get a more in depth feel for their relationship . The ending was very rushed and it seems like there wasn’t really a lot of effort put to wrapping up the plots (like the storyline with the dad, like what’s the deal with that ! ). Overall I would recommend the book !
This was a fun rollercoaster of emotions and relationships. I gave it three stars because the characters were inconsistent throughout. It was a lot of flip flopping and hypocritical actions that were hard to follow along. We meet Sunny and her sister, we also got the older sister which don’t get me wrong she added to the story and I’ll definitely read her book BUT, I feel like the author tossed her in there lol. Like we got drama and baggage from our two main Female leads. The two MMc’s were a mess and while I get the author was trying to make them funny they were obnoxious. I never felt, saw or could imagine the “love” as described in the novel. Like I’m sorry this may have been better split into seperate books because Sunny had MADDDD SH*T going on. I also couldn’t get with Cairo because he was doing everything a boyfriend would but then acted weird about Paisley’s feelings, then was judging her TOO harshly for me. I really couldn’t understand his mental nor his actions. Man admitted to being a cheater and playing the “love of his life” finds out she wasn’t as innocent as he believed and was vowing to never love again. Like SHES DEAD BOZO and you was a cheater this not the hill to die on.
Overall there was too much story, too many characters and not nearly enough depth for what all was going on. This needed to be two seperate books FOR SURE. We did get a happy ending for our two couple but too much was left up in the air, while I’m aware we’re getting another story I feel like the loose ends here shouldn’t run into the next book.

This is my third read from this author focused on the same characters. I will say the storytelling improves with each book. Yet, I wish the author would stick to one central plot, because each book consists of messy plots. Along with some major drama at the 80% mark.
Again, this interconnected series is more urban fiction and less of a romance. The stories are messy, missing a trigger warning, and full of bird behavior. But it is entertaining, just don’t expect to full in love with character development. All of the characters are birds, males included, and none of the behaviors improved.
There is a lot of double talk; characters saying what they won’t go for or do. Then within the next breath doing the very thing. Very annoying.
The two main couples were an improvement from the previous book; and still I didn’t care if they worked out or not. Cairo was fixated on a ghost. Nothing about the Alana storyline surprised me. But it fell flat, because for Cairo to be that in love. And you dogged this woman out and now you have all this resentment. Enough so, that you blame all women for the failings of one relationship. What?! How does this make sense? Most of the book was him in love with the ghost and ghosting the heck out of Pai. And then judging her for actions.
Whereas Sunny and Pharoah were backwards. Nothing about them made sense, just a bunch of insults and drama. He dogged this woman out and then one night in the club decided he wanted her. Well actually he decided he would have her, but she not have him. Nope, no romance.
Again- despite all the ridiculousness. This was entertaining and I would read Serenity’s story. She’s older, I’m hoping her story is cleaner and more mature dialogue. Less chaotic drama for the sake of filler. I would love to see these characters evolve and fall in love on page.
Y’all this book was such a good read especially if you’ve read about the other supporting characters. To see my girl Sunny of all people get her HEA was everything for me. If anyone deserved one it was her. I truly couldn’t believe Paisley was caught up with Galen’s sorry behind for so long and the minute she tried to leave him he did the unthinkable.
I’m so glad Cairo stepped in the day he did because although it was rough af in the beginning, he was who she needed. Watching Cairo care for Paisley the way he did and the way he fell for her without even trying and despite how much he fought it. WHEW!!! They literally loved each other whole. They healed the broken parts of themselves without even knowing they were. I rooted for them so hard. Paisley deserved the love she tried to give to sorry behind men and I’m glad Cairo saw her worth and showed it to her as well.
Y’all the fact that Pharaoh saved Rainee then turned around and was always arguing and bickering with her momma was wild to me. You could see the attraction between him and Sunny but they were so stubborn. They fought it so hard until they couldn’t anymore and then boop, they in a relationship. LOL! Sunny needed Pharaoh and vice versa. Watching them build their relationship and date each other was exactly what the other needed.
Enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The chaos, the drama, the delulu mess, the laughs, the sex, the bickering, but most of all, how everyone found love. Great job Miss MaMas!
Soooo, I usually do not like reading the urban fiction genre because I am not a fan of the B-word and N-word used as terms of endearment and disrespect. I also do not like the portrayal of brown/black people. I understand the culture, but I do not ascribe to that. With that being said, I kept hearing about this author and wanted to give it a try. For all the things I did not like, some of which I listed above, I did like the plot of this story. I can see why this author is talked about. She gives out the messy and the nasty alongside the drama and the alpha men who can shut it down. I've seen people in the cycle depicted in the story. Ni'ssan gives a reality check to help others see their way out. There was minor editing issues, even one place where the wrong name was used. But overall, it was entertaining, just not something I could submerse myself into often. Solid 3 stars despite my dislikes.
This book should have been named " Chaotic Lives or The Dramatic Lives of the Smith Sisters or The Chaotic Smith Sisters & the Men that Fell for Them"
Each sister had a chaotic, messy story, the oldest- Serenity's story was not as clear cut but still hinted to be messy. The Smith Sisters daddy was definitely the King of messiness. It was one of the main reasons why they had low self-esteem & had men in their lives that they would not entertain if they had that self-esteem.
The new men in two of the Sisters, Paisley & Sunny, Lives were related to each other & had craziness with them also. The difference between the two was that the men had more common sense than the sisters did.
Please read this book...especially like I did, a buddy read. A buddy read will bring such a great discussion about this world that the author created.
This was such a good read sisters Sunny,Paisley and Serenity loved each other unconditionally but their father unknowingly planted seeds of lack of self worth…all these women loved their men but never put themselves first it took the least expecting men to help them see their own value their own mistakes…Cairo was pining over a dead women and Pharaoh had issues from childhood trauma but once found love they loved hard…..now there were some hints about Serenitys story and I can’t wait especially this read about this 12 year old child Elisha spilling beans about…
This was my first read by this author and I loved it! There was so much mess and family drama. Sunny, Pharaoh, Paisley and Cairo were such complicated characters but I loved both couples. Cairo and Paisley’s story was my favorite though because it included one of my favorite tropes and Cairo was so tormented. Watching him find the peace he was looking for was so rewarding. I definitely will be going back through Ni’ssan catalogue to get the rest of the family stories.
Up until the end this book was like a 4.5 star read. The ending made me feel like the author struggled with if she wanted to give one of the couples an HEA & then decided at the last minute that she would so she just put it in the epilogue. I feel like if she wanted them to have an HEA their story could’ve been written slightly differently. I loved the overall plot & the characters though. There is minor editing errors as well (those types of things don’t bother me too much but fyi).
Buddy reading this book with the booksplosive girls and it was definitely a ride. Seems like the whole black was smashing each other. The drama was dramaing.
But who too the cake was Cassidy.. character was straight grimy.
Rylann was a much need surprise. Only one seems to have any sense. Glad Pai and Cairo doing their thing because I was like poor baby confused, don’t know what he want.
This was a good an amazing read. It was funny and relatable in a relationship aspect. And childhood traumas. Loved how their relationship developed despite all of them not really looking or wanting a relationship due to their past experiences. But to see how they overcame their differences and healed each other was amazing…. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work… I hear there’s a part 2 coming so I can’t wait to read it…
It was an ok read, a lot of family mess going on which made it entertaining, there wasn't really any plot per say but still made for an interesting read. This was my first read from this author and I def want to read more, to get a feel for her writing.
P.S: May Alanna rest in hell for the flaw shit she did.
Whew chile! This was a wild ride that I found myself not wanting to get off of! Soooo much drama from beginning to end. Loved it. I definitely feel like I wanted more of each couple’s journey separately. Hopefully there’s a book two because I’d love to read it!
It was a lot!!!! I love this book right here because it was messy. If you know me then you know I am in for a good messy book. Ni'ssan did an amazing job keeping you guessing and entertained throughout this entire read. It was a goo time and I'm not mad at it.
I’m sorry but I definitely do not like Sunny. Her whole disposition threw me off. Then Paisley and Cairo both needed some serious counseling but for different reasons. Paisley didn’t love herself and Cairo was in love with a ghost. Overall, it was decent.
Wow that mother and son was both crazy. How could you do that to your own grandchild. The whole family expect Mya was off. I loved them sisters, they all was about that life. Their father was a piece of trash.
Great read. Loved it, from start to finish! The audacity from some of the characters…goodness! My mouth dropped open more than a couple times while reading this! lol Loved the back and forth banter. Glad it came full circle. Can’t wait for what’s to come 😊
This was a great read. The way Cairo stole Pai’s heart literally was crazy. Women singer caught up on the lies they want to ignore from me the way Pai ignored all the signs with Galen and Sunny ignore the signs from Hassan, but unbeknownst to them both, love was around the corner.
I love how Pharoah applied pressure on Sunny. They were definitely a good match. Sunny needed a man that would protect her heart. Hassan and his family, minus the sister, was mental. I can’t imagine a grandmother being that deranged.
Now the sisters’ dad was a hot ass mess and trifling. Not only was he an effed up father, he was an effed up husband. I hurt for Serenity. The way she loved her parents and to find out the truth about their characters was heartbreaking for her.
I hope to hear more about these characters in another book.
