Clever and Charming...

Clever, because the author brings us many rhymes, riddles and mysteries our dear characters must solve to win the big prize. Or bring villains to justice.

Charming, because when Darcy gets a second chance at wooing and winning his hearts love, he brings the charm!

I had a smile on my face through just about the whole book. There are several new characters and each one adds to the overall story line in the most perfect way to round it out, and create a humorous buffer, or they are a foil to add tension, which our dear couple had to suffer through - will they/won't they...

The story doesn't end with the win. New elements are introduced to complicate the path to our dear couple's happy ever after.

I loved this story and enjoyed the little surprises the author sets up for the reader, and how all the threads were woven together in the end.

5*

Life is a constant oscillation between the sharp horns of dilemmas. — H. L. Mencken

Like everyone, a certain Miss Phoebe Armstrong has crossed paths with many people. Some of them left lasting memories of kindnesses. These people are the beneficiaries of her will.

Miss Elizabeth Bennet is included in the Armstrong will. So is Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Miss Armstrong intends to leave most of her worldly goods to only one person. In order to choose that person from among the beneficiaries, she has devised a series of clever puzzles that must be solved. Contestants will be housed together and see no one outside of their group.

Usually, the main problem with conundrums is we don’t bring to them enough imagination. — Thomas Moore

Imagination is required to work through the conundrums in Miss Armstrong’s puzzles. Elizabeth starts strong, but the ultimate solution will take time.

Of course, the most pressing conundrum for two of the contestants is strictly between them – can they overcome the disastrous proposal at Hunsford and build a lasting love?

Will you be carried off by this wind coming at us? Or stand and face it? — Jennifer Nielsen

In a break from the chase for the prize, we see Darcy struggling with Numerophobia. Instead of the number 13, Darcy is haunted by the number 11.

Quote from the book: His appointment was arranged for eleven o’clock that morning, and, coincidentally, eleven minutes remained before he should sally forth. Were he the superstitious sort, eleven might be his unlucky number ... at eleven months of age the young master had nearly succumbed to the measles … In July of the year eleven, Darcy had installed his sister, Georgiana, at No 11 Chapel Place in Ramsgate … just five weeks past, on the eleventh of April — after the woman Darcy loved had scathingly refused his offer of marriage — he had left Rosings Park a mortified, bitter, and heartbroken man.

I’m a conundrum. Or an enigma. I forget which. — James A. Owen

At one point, I thought the Happy Ending Music would soon begin playing. I looked at the progress bar. Only 65% finished! It ain’t over til it’s over! Keep reading to the end!

Loved it!

You were the enigma
I wanted to see through,
The code to unlock your heart,
I wanted to decipher.
For you were a conundrum
who desired to be answered some day.

The author's story description is very complete in giving the reader an outline of the story's premise. Plus there are a number of very long reviews which add details to that. So I will not add a long review to those others.

I did like the contest between the five people to win an estate and monies and must say that I was completely lost as to what the clues alluded. I particularly loved Elizabeth's motive in that she was thinking of her mother and sisters and providing for them if/when Mr. Bennet died.

This also gives us a Darcy with a second chance to win Elizabeth's hand and then found it rather amusing that Papa Bennet refused to give permission or his blessing for ODC's marriage.

The villain(s) in this story are not Wickham and Lady Catherine but I won't spoil that part of the story for you.

This story does give us romance as we read of Elizabeth's and Darcy's interactions.

I have read almost all of this author's stories and enjoyed those.

Let the games begin. May the best man or woman win. It was a contest of sorts. Miss Phoebe Armstrong had died and had placed within her will a creative [or crazy] way to offload her property. A tournament of wit and intellect was designed to test the mettle of each participant. The prize was her manor and a substantial fortune.

Anyone who had ever interacted with her was included. Miss Elizabeth had been kind to her and she never forgot it. They had exchanged letters but that was the extent of their interactions. That is until Mr. Bennet received a letter from Miss Armstrong’s lawyers asking them to appear at their London office.

This was an interesting twist to our P&P story. The puzzles and conundrums were difficult and I was unable to answer them. I felt dumb as a box of rocks. Wow! I was impressed with the strategies and the answers. After I got over my pique of embarrassment, it was fun to follow. There was a mystery to be solved. The reader didn’t know the identity of the enemy or culprit.

What I liked: The action happened away from Longbourn. Thank you very much. I get so tired of listening to Mrs. Bennet and Lydia being stupid. Our short time there made me want to join Bennet in his bookroom. The competition between the players was fierce. Some actions were just short of cheating. It was exciting.

Like Ms. Croft's novel, Play with Fire, I loved the wordplay and many polysyllabic words here. The beginning is reminiscent of a Regency-era escape room or mystery novel—a clever game for a couple of clever beneficiaries.

There are numerous humourous allusions to past insults and poor conduct. I like the fact that the relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy was central to the story. I was somewhat frustrated with the continual interruptions to their intimate conversations, but the delay added several fun conversations and situations.

One minor criticism is the swift forgiveness and acceptance of Bingley upon his return to Meryton. I understand that I previously expressed my enjoyment of the primary focus on ODC; however, the HEA of the secondary couple further intensifies my distaste for their shallow affection. I couldn't care less about them and was glad that their part of a double wedding was mostly skipped over.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it to readers who would like to sleuth about in priest holes and garrets.

Shortly after Elizabeth rejected his offer of marriage in Kent and leaving him heartbroken Darcy receives an unusual invitation for a stay at Oakwood Mount. He is invited to a house party where he and the other guests have to compete for the inheritance of an older lady. When he arrives he discovers that none other than Elizabeth Bennet is among the guests and therefore his opponent. He vows to himself to grasp this second chance and to not only partake in the competition but also to fight for Elizabeth's heart. During the competition Darcy’s and Elizabeth's minds are greatly challenged, not only by the tasks before them but also by their changed perspectives and attitudes. By the time they leave Oakwood Mount they are on the brick of an understanding only to face new obstacles - Mr Bennet is not willing to give his consent to a marriage between his favourite daughter and the man she once vehemently detested. With her twenty-first birthday fast approaching, Elizabeth needs to decide which man she loves and trusts more.
Will Elizabeth fight for her love for Darcy? Will the effects of the house party divide her from her family? Or will she, together with Darcy, find a way to have both the love of a husband and a father?

The book was very well written by the author J. Marie Croft. I like her style of writing very much. I was especially drawn in by the moments of tension and appreciation between ODC. And I really like Darcy flirting with his love ❤️.

I really enjoyed the house party, the search for the hints to win the competition and Darcy's and Elizabeth's close proximity there. Both have changed after their encounter in Kent and now they are open to improvement of their attitude/character and/or to see the other in a new, favourable light. They are surely slowed by the setting of a house party in coming to know each other better but, on the other hand, the party also provides some special situations where both can see the true self of the other. That's what I like about stories where they are forced to spend time with each other: they can change their opinion in a relatively short time without the option to run away, they must therefore confront their feelings and act on them.

After she refused him in Kent Elizabeth is finally able to acknowledge that she had been drawn to Darcy from the very beginning and now she can act on it because she has overcome her prejudices. I like that she now is also bold enough to hint on her changed feelings and encourage the gentleman. Because of this change in Elizabeth there is less uncertainty between Darcy and her, both know the other’s feelings not for certain but they strongly suspect a favourable view.

Darcy was very persistent in this variation, he is determined not to waste his second chance to show Elizabeth that he has taken her words in Kent to heart and that he has changed and is now worthy of her. I really like his devotion to Elizabeth and that he every day finds something new in her to admire.

There are no real villains in the story. Most of the story takes place at Oakwood Mount during the competition but fortunately the other participants are no threat to ODC love story. Only Mr Bennet tries to prevent a match between his daughter and her suitor but fortunately Darcy and Elizabeth find a way to deal with her father and resolve the situation. I did not like Mr Bennet very much in this story because he was more stubborn than Elizabeth had ever been in refusing Darcy and he also puts the difficult task of securing her family's welfare after his death on Elizabeth's shoulders (he tells her she needs to win to give her mother and sisters a home). No, that is not the way a responsible father would act.

If you like to know how a house party can change the course of Darcy's and Elizabeth's life you should definitely read this excellent book.

I highly recommend it.

Addition for the audiobook
The audiobook was narrated by Annabelle Hyde. I have already listened to an audiobook with her as the narrator before and liked her very much. This audiobook was no exception. I hope she will narrate more JAFF variations in the future. Annabelle Hyde has a pleasant voice and I was able to tell at every point of the story who is speaking to whom. I like that very much.

I generally do not enjoy mysteries - the first half did not appeal to me greatly (it wasn't a mystery exactly but something like a scavenger hunt) as it overtook much of the interactions between ODC. It still had its whimsical and endearing moments, but still once that was over I was more engrossed in the story.

An Unusual House Party
Audiobook Review

Two months after Darcy’s disastrous proposal at Hunsford, an extraordinary coincidence brings him and Elizabeth together again for a most unusual house party. Old Mrs Armstrong, a mutual acquaintance, has passed away and named them—and several others—as beneficiaries. They are all summoned to the estate of the dearly departed to take part in a contest of wit and will: the first among them to solve all the conundrums will inherit her entire estate. Elizabeth is determined to win for the sake of her family, while Darcy, still nursing the wounds of rejection, is simply seeking a distraction. Neither knows the other will be in attendance. If you enjoy house parties and the sort of delicious angst I always feel when I ‘attend’ one, you’ll appreciate the clever writing and sharp wit of J. Marie Croft.

Annabelle Hyde, a new-to-me narrator, brings the various character voices to life exceedingly well, and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. I do have one small critique, though for me, it was rather important. I know Darcy is often portrayed as serious or even morose—particularly at the start of stories like this one—but even when he was happy, his tone still felt too sombre. I wanted to hear more emotion in his voice when he was happy or excited. The narrator did that beautifully with every other character, which made the contrast more noticeable. That said, the narration overall was excellent.

The death of Miss Phoebe Armstrong, a wealthy, elderly eccentric has the potential to change some lives forever.

Miss Armstrong decided that her fortune and property should go to a deserving young person.
Upon her death, invitations to a house party at Oakwood Manor go out to a select group. All five were either close to her or showed exceptional kindness to her.

Elizabeth Bennet saved Phoebe from a runaway horse in London. Fitzwilliam Darcy had offered assistance to a beleaguered traveller.

They join a week long tournament of critical thinking, solving clues.
The winner will take all.

Elizabeth is desperate to win as her family faces an uncertain future when her father dies.

Darcy is seeking distraction from heartbreak, following the rejection of his proposal. He is shocked to see Elizabeth, the object of his affections.

Perhaps, he might get another chance?

The characters are an interesting mix from the annoying to the downright wicked.

A sweet Darcy and a kind Elizabeth come to understand each other better.

Mr Bennet is selfish and unreasonable.

All told, worth the effort.

This is a wonderfully unique spin on Pride and Prejudice-- though I expected no less from this creative author, who is one of my favorites. What if, after Elizabeth refused Mr. Darcy's proposal of marriage and read his letter, the two find themselves thrown together again, this time as participants in a competition? That's the premise explored here.

The exceedingly eccentric Miss Phoebe Armstrong has died without any relatives to inherit her large estate and extensive wealth (50,000 pounds!). A year and a half prior to the start of this story, Elizabeth Bennet had been in Cheapside with her aunt when a large horse, out of control due to an inept rider, was bearing down on an old woman. Acting quickly and putting herself in danger of being trampled, Elizabeth pushed the unknown lady, subsequently introduced as Miss Armstrong, out of harm's way. Now Elizabeth receives a notice from a legal firm that she is named in the lady's will and must appear at the attorney's office in London for more information in order to quality for a possible inheritance. Obviously, any bequest would be a boon to the Bennet family, so Mr. Bennet arranges to bring her to the meeting.

Mr. Darcy's kindness, though less heroic, also earns him a notice regarding Miss Armstrong's will. The inn at Lambton had suffered a fire, destroying rooms reserved for her when she was traveling, and Darcy had invited her and the other affected travelers to stay at Pemberley. During Miss Armstrong's sojourn there, she became attached to a puppy, Biscuit, which he allowed her to keep. Darcy's curiosity draws him to London for the meeting with her attorney.

What he and Elizabeth learn at their respective meetings is that five potential beneficiaries, three men and two women, are invited to spend a week at Miss Armstrong's estate, Oakwood Manor in Buckinghamshire, and compete in a scavenger hunt-like "game of skill and intellect." The winner will inherit everything. At first, Darcy is inclined to decline, as he already has enough estates to manage and is satisfied with his level of wealth. However, it offers a mental challenge that will divert him from his tortured thoughts of Elizabeth Bennet ever since she refused him, so he decides to participate.

It's a major shock to both Darcy and Elizabeth when they discover each other in attendance at Oakham Manor. And then the REAL fun begins with each participant attempting to solve a different succession of riddles and anagrams during this week-long house party. The game is disrupted by cheating, theft, imprisonment, and poisoning. Who's the guilty party? The plot starts to resemble a traditional drawing room mystery but with the addition of the romance brewing between Elizabeth and Darcy.

The story does not conclude when the competition ends, however. Mr. Bennet is not agreeable to Elizabeth's desire to marry, and then Darcy runs into an aftereffect of the competition that causes him a spot of trouble with his lady. A standout scene is another Meryton assembly that's infused with strong echoes of the original.

Ms. Croft is a master storyteller, and this is a thoroughly entertaining story. Vivid characters. Humorous situations. Scintillating dialogue. Confounding clues. Lovely romance. Everything readers love in a P&P variation!

Content is clean.

As an avid reader and lover of Pride and Prejudice variations, I’ve enjoyed many of J. Marie Croft twists on Austen’s classic. With her latest story, Conundrums & Coincidences, Croft once again delivers a delightful read that is rich in its character development and entertaining with its unique plot.

In Conundrums & Coincidences, Croft picks up a few months after Darcy’s disastrous first proposal at Kent. With the passing of time, Darcy’s hurt and yearning has not subsided, and Elizabeth finds herself regretting her harsh judgement of Darcy. Fear not, it just so happens that an unexpected potential bequest from a mutual acquaintance puts Darcy and Elizabeth back in each other's path with a chance to mend past hurts.

Of course, nothing can ever be easy as the bequest requires that the small group of potential heirs compete in a game of wits over the course of several weeks, with the winner claiming the ultimate prize. Elizabeth is excited by the possibility of what this could mean for the security of her family. Darcy is determined to not waste an opportunity to show Elizabeth that he has taken her censure to heart and to see if he ever can have a chance to win her heart. However, as the game moves forward, Elizabeth and Darcy find themselves the target of threats and dangerous acts from within the group of participants.

I adored this really interesting take on Austen's original story. Through the construct of the game, we have a unique opportunity to see Darcy and Elizabeth build a true sense of partnership and mutual respect. I really enjoyed being privy to Darcy's inner thoughts and loved how he admires her sharp mind and supports her efforts to claim true independence. Also I need to take a minute to appreciate the wonderful moments of flirtation and vulnerability that Croft weaves in as Darcy and Elizabeth's feelings grow for each other. It was painful to watch the transition that Elizabeth has to go through as she pushes for independence from her beloved father but as always Darcy is an incredible source of support.

This was another delightful read from Croft, whose attention to detail and mastery of dialogue that is meaningful, rich and sharp gives us another wonderful variation on this beloved classic.

I loved it!

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. This is a Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice variation. This is book one of four of the series called Mr Darcy’s Dilemmas. Each book is a standalone story. This is a second chance, trapped together, enemies to lovers romance with clean, closed-door content and little angst.

After two month of suffering the heartache of Elizabeth Bennet’s rejection of his marriage proposal, Fitzwilliam Darcy unexpectedly encounters the lady at Oakwood Manor the estate of the late Miss Phoebe Armstrong. The dearly departed Miss Armstrong has disposed of her worldly goods in an uncommon manner, for she has called together five young people, including Darcy and Elizabeth, to vie for a legacy, the manor itself and a substantial fortune. For Darcy, however, the true prize is a second chance at winning Elizabeth’s hand.

With such a coveted prize at stake, not all of the participants are willing to play fair but both Darcy and Elizabeth prove worthy competitors, their turn of their minds putting them both ahead in the contest where cleverness and wit are required. Darcy and Elizabeth not only persevere, but triumph, through a madcap se’nnight of charades and conundrums, a week where friends become enemies, and enemies turn into lovers. By the time they leave Oakwood, Darcy and Elizabeth have resolved their prior differences and are on the brink of an understanding. Alas, that is just when they face another, very important, conundrum, for Mr Bennet adamantly refuses to consent to an engagement between his favourite daughter and Darcy.

With her twenty-first birthday fast approaching, Elizabeth is put in the unhappy position of having to decide between the two gentlemen she loves most. In both battles of wills, who wins? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

4+ ... liked this quite a bit. I'm not sure how realistic it was to have an old widow with limited contact with E, D and others to make such a convoluted will/game. And to have D&E willing to participate. It was reminiscent of The Inheritance Games, and The Wishing Game ... I was able to decipher a clue in the latter ;) The ones here were too obscure for me.

I'd recently read Lover's Knot: A Mysterious Pride & Prejudice Variation, and with the whole "mystery" set-up, there was a similar feel, although the other, with actual murder, was darker/heavier than a "game" here. The developing romance between D&E was a little more enjoyable here I think because of that. Some interesting nuances to consider (should Darcy "throw" the game to give Lizzy a better chance of winning? Does Lizzy having wealth now what makes her more acceptable? Who would have thought that MrBennet would deny Lizzy her wishes (not give permission for the marriage) ...

Interesting focus on Elizabeth's custom perfume (not essential to the story, but mentioned more than once).

Bingley has a cousin ;)
Words I note: curricle, penultimate, dais (british pronunciation in audio)
Enjoyed the alliteration in "ghastly guidance you gave" ...

Wonderful

Elizabeth saves the life of an elderly lady in Cheapside, and years later is remembered in this lady's will, and given a chance to win her estate and fortune in a contest of puzzle solving at a house party. Darcy is similarly remembered by this lady, and also participates in the contest. However, this happens after his infamous proposal at Hunsford Parsonage, and Elizabeth's harsh rejection of it. She's feeling regret and contrition when they reunite, and he's still in love with her and wants to improve her opinion of himself. They each compete for the prize, but at the same time get to know and love each other more. There are three other competitors, and two of them don't hesitate to use dishonest and dishonorable methods to win the prize.

What an excellent premise, and fabulous situation to exhibit the traits we love most about ODC. This author, who must be very clever herself, presents fun and challenging riddles for the competitors, and in this way exhibits a smart and courageous Elizabeth and Darcy. The witty banter is clever and amusing. There are several wonderful new accessory characters that we come to care about. There's just enough intrigue and drama to make it interesting, and suitable comeuppances for the villains.

My only reservation was the behavior of Mr Bennett, who became extremely unpleasant later in the story, and never really suffered any consequence for it. However, it wasn't enough dissatisfaction to deduct a star. The book is very well written and well edited. I recommend it highly for an amusing, engaging, and fun way to pass some time.

I received a free ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. With that said, this book has already been put into my Favorites, Really Like, Sweet Darcy and Elizabeth, and Rereads collections in my Kindle app. I didn't want to put it down. It is one of my favorite tropes. Elizabeth and Dardy learn to become friends without the nonsense of the Bennets or Bingleys around. Honest discussions open the door to understanding.

There are characters determined to wreak havoc, but they aren't the usual suspects. In the meantime, Darcy and Elizabeth grow closer and learn to appreciate each other more while dealing with conundrums. There are no horrible arguments or misunderstandings that last for chapters and chapters. They behave like two grown adults and speak frankly with each other. Therefore, resolutions are reached sooner than in many stories. For me, this qualifies as a low-angst story. It's also one where Darcy and Elizabeth are interacting on most pages from the almost beginning to the end.

Wickham and Lady Catherine are referred to but have no real page time. Scratch that. Wickham has a tiny bit of page time when Darcy is recalling his childhood.

The writing is engaging with a good pace and flow and a bit of mystery thrown in for good measure. I will reread this story many times in the future.

This was a really fun book! After the Hunsford debacle Elizabeth and Darcy find themselves at Oakwood manor in competition for the house and money of an eccentric woman. The lady has recently passed and has left a small bequest for each of five persons who were kind to her in some manner. A additional opportunity exists to receive her entire estate. The five must compete to be the first to solve a series of puzzles within a prescribed amount of time in order to win the manor and money with no collusion between contestants allowed.

During their time at Oakwood Darcy spends his time well in wooing Elizabeth as she deserves to be wooed. He has a little competition from another contestant but this Darcy is utterly swoon worthy and Elizabeth is no match for his charms. All is not hearts and flowers, however, because there is cheating amongst the rivals for the bequest as well as danger for some of the participants. The conundrums were really fun, but difficult. I only managed to decipher two (“equipage” and “compass”). Luckily ODC are a lot more clever than I am!

Once Darcy has won his heart’s desire, he must convince an unwilling Mr Bennet that he is worthy of the prize. Can he do it? Hmmm…

An absolute treat

Another triumph from J Marie Croft, filled with witty ripostes and charming characters, both old and new. The unique plot is so very good and the flow is excellent. The story is well paced from start to finish.

One of the particular delights of this book for me was the carefully balanced cast list with no extraneous characters and no-one included who was not necessary to the plot. This takes courage on the part of writers in this genre and I always appreciate this boldness. There are several original characters and I loved them all, especially Miss Rigby who was an absolute hoot-and-a-half.

The writing is tight and the editing is likewise making for an all-round pleasurable reading experience.

Just fantastic!.

Conundrums and Coincidences by J. Marie Croft is an original and fun variation heavily featuring Darcy and Elizabeth. They meet again post-Hunsford as they have both been invited to compete for an estate and 50,000 pounds along with three other original characters. The contest is fun and clever, and it gives Darcy and Elizabeth a chance to spend time together without any of their family members nearby. He can take the opportunity to woo her properly, and she can learn more about him. They can do this without all that pride and prejudice getting in the way.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well-written, fast-paced, entertaining and didn’t have any of the usual suspects getting in the way of their finally getting to know each other.

This had nothing wrong, its just the writing felt awkward to me and dialogues often were too dramatic for the characters and situations. The end also dragged on a bit, after Darcy and Elizabeth get engaged. Wish author has avoided that unnecessary drama with

This was fairly well written if somewhat verbose. A decent variation, handled well.

The issues I had were how the characters were drawn. Rather shallow and flimsy in the cases of Darcy and Elizabeth - giggling and dithering. Oddly mean in the case of Mr. Bennett. The others (new characters) couldn't pick a lane and stay in it.

The story was pretty much over at page 196 (KU edition). All that was needed was the normal resolution of the weddings (Darcy and Bingley). Instead it ran to 292 pages with a bunch of unnecessary scenarios that tempted me to DNF it - I didn't; read it to the end.

Overall, a decent read, just a bit unnecessarily long. I do recommend, even with the dithering and slow pace.

Not Amazing, But Very Good

This variation covers a lot of ground. It begins, or rather reflects on, the time before the Bennets met the Netherfield party. Still it doesn't slog through the past. The events move quickly, though some are less worthy of nail-biting suspense than others.

I appreciate the accurate editing. I also enjoyed the fact that the guilty parties received the punishment deserved... I guess, it wasn't explicitly stated. But the storyline was very enjoyable. I loved the conundrums. I wanted to go on reading, so I didn't take the time to solve them, but they were very interesting. Well done!

A couple of months after the Hunsford proposal, Elizabeth and Darcy are unexpectedly thrown together again at a house party designed to gift the estate and fortune of its deceased owner to the winner of a competition among five participants. Not everyone plays fair. There were a few interesting secondary characters, especially the charming young man with a surprising affiliation.

Thoroughly enjoyable and well-written. Loved it!

Love

This is so good. A swoon-worthy Darcy and plenty of page time for ODC. My one complaint **spoiler** is wishing Darcy didn’t drop out of the contest and ODG beat even him. This is a minor plot point though. Excellent writing and a fun story with no angst. Highly recommend.

one of my favorite variations!

This book was so lovingly crafted. It was a primer in regency parlor games but in such a fun, mysterious way. The characters acted true to themselves and I will be reading this one again and again.

This is a most unique, very interesting, and well written Pride and Prejudice variation. The story is very interesting and engaging. The characters and their parts are an interesting switch in some cases. This would make a lovely movie adaptation. I recommend reading.

This was an absolutely charming variation. I loved seeing a more tender affectionate side to Mr Darcy while still being himself. The storyline of the contest was cute including the riddles each had to solve and the slight mystery involved kept it interesting.

Started out interesting….

I loved the premise of this variation, it was unique and was looking forward to how it played out. Unfortunately the story dragged out a bit too long for me. That’s okay, books are not always universally enjoyed. I will say the book was well written.
