Wow! I feel like I am saying for a few books I have read lately but this is totally not what I expected when I started reading the book! While I was reading the book I kept thinking this is good! And then BAM! Out of nowhere the last thing I was expecting happened! This hunk of a man turned into a sexy wolf! Needless to say I was shocked! I don't read books of this sort but I was so into the book, I almost forgot he changed back & forth. The story between Cameron & Houston was like no other. I couldn't help but feel drawn to their story. Houston is this rough edged sexy man that will go to the ends of the earth to protect those he loves. Then there is Cameron who is a stubborn independent beauty that has been burned but cant help but be drawn to the fire (Houston) again! I could feel the passion and the heat with these two. It make me crave more them. I felt every emotion they produced whether it was anger, shock, love, happiness, etc. I couldn't get enough of them. Not only was their relationship sizzling hot so was the suspense side of the story! I loved the mystery of it, it kept me guessing the whole time! I seriously felt like I was on CSI or a show similar trying to put all the clues and evidence together! I would go back just to reread a part so I could try to figure the mystery out! Loved this book! I can happily say I am now a fan of Melissa Bell!!

NONE SPOLIER REVIEW :
This book is not your run of the mill shifter book, it takes a different slant on the way in which the shifters became what they are, also the pack of five brothers are also different to the way most books portray shifter packs ... AND IT WORKS its brilliant, what an imagination this writer has. This book is a great start to the series and definatly makes it impossible not to read the following books. The two main characters in this book are strong well described and have a believabilty that is lacking in some books ive read, and let's not forget the sex scenes, well written and descriptive but not repetative like some... and oh boy definatly well worth reading..I hope you enjoy reading this as much as i did now to start the second in the series

I enjoyed this read, a good spin on a werewolf beginning. Cameron is a good detective she’s just unlucky with men, but being married to the job doesn’t help. Her latest beau just demonstrated what men are like so she doesn’t need it, but a crash and a chance meeting with Houston and his brothers opens up a different world for Cam. Houston has never felt the emotions he’s having after rescuing Cam but will she accept him when she finds out his secret?
Really enjoyed the story, plot, characters. Some grammatical errors but nothing too blatant. I love books which involve a whole list of characters which make the series, lots of angst but some sweet moments and some sexy moments, overall a good read.

**HONEST REVIEW--AUTHOR PROVIDED BOOK**

I am not a reader of paranormal romance with suspense/mystery. I wasn't sure I would be a good reviewer. However, I must say that I enjoyed this book. The story was sound with a good plot. I really liked the heroine. She was a tough cookie. I prefer to read about strong heroines and not submissive, broken or tortured women. The fact that she was a detective was intriguing. The hero, Houston, was sexy and very much an Alpha, which is my preference in a hero. The storyline was unexpected, mixing real life issues with the paranormal. I think the author did a good job of describing the normal issues and feelings of humans with the feelings and issues of the 'animal'. The sex scenes were hot and exciting between two characters with an immense amount of chemistry. I loved the HEA, but I felt I needed more definitive answer on one point in the relationship (which I won't reveal because it is a spoiler).

Technically, great storyline, plot, and flow. There are some editing issues which plagues the highly rated writers. Another run through of the story could fix the little things that pop up when reading. However, none of that affects the flow of the story. Also as an American English reader, there are words or nicknames that I don't know. I know another Aussie author who puts a glossary for words that are not universal. However, there weren't many. I felt like I missed an inside secret when the main character called her by a nickname 'Shae' which could have been explained. Not a big deal.

I would definitely recommend the book to lovers of paranormal romance because she writes wonderfully in the genre.

REVIEW

New to me author.

We have Cameron who is a detective almost .. She goes out to a club with her boyfriend and best friend but she ends up leaving alone after catching them in a compromising position.

While heading home she is run off the road and rescued by Houston. She wakes to find him by her bedside at the hospital and all she thinks at first is wow he is hot.
Houston however has a secret although he is a good guy and in the same field of work as Cameron he carries something from his past that could ruin things.

They are out to stop human traffickers who have taken 2 women hostage one of those women it seems may be someone Houston's brother needs in his life. But alas we have to wait til the next story to find out.

Cameron finds herself facing many changes. Is she strong enough to accept them all?
Houston is determined to be there for Cameron no matter what.

The book was fantastic as far as suspense, mystery and the romance levels were super hot. I do wish someone had proofread the book a bit better it was missing some words here and there. I would have also loved to have seen the main characters have a bit more built up to them or a bit more story line to them meeting and moving forward. Overall this was a very good paranormal book and I would recommend it to those who love strong heroines and super hot sexy alphas.

Gifted to me for my honest review

First off i’d like to thank Melissa Bell for gifting me a copy of Houston in exchange for an honest review. Secondly, I loved it! There are many great things about this story that sets it out from the rest. The story of the brothers for one.... Genius. And it ties in well with the why they are in Australia. Especially since they are transplants. Ha.

Houston as the pack's Alpha and the elder brother not only has a responsibility to keep himself and his brothers safe but after an auto accident where he meets Cam, he has a need to keep her safe. A need that takes them both on one wild, heart pounding and extremely sexy ride. It's one that neither were looking for, neither expected but both have found a deep rooted love from.

Destiny dropped Cam in Houston's backyard, gave him a reason to be the Alpha he and his wolf needed. It bound Cam and Houston but their bond helped his wolf become one with its human side. As a whole he has grown and can do what he needs to to take care of himself, his brothers and now his woman. And that's put to the test when Cam's case piles up and trouble starts to follow her. Not only does the conspiracy hit home for her but the last person she expected to be after her was.

It's a tangled web of love, lies and... Murder.

I really, really liked the characters in this book! Both main characters and secondaries were fascinating, and people I'm happy to continue reading about. The storyline was interesting, in spite of a few weak points in the police procedure side of things.
The female lead was tenacious and intelligent. I totally dig how she was strong enough to not be threatened by Houston, instead working with him rather than against him.
I truly wish I could give this more stars, but the grammar and sentence structure were so poor, it was distracting.
A few examples of misused wording vs. correct word: soul/sole, russell/rustle, inpatients/impatience, raining/reigning, and the ever famous your vs. you're.
Aside from the wording issue, punctuation and sentence structure was off-putting with many sentences like this: "She ran from the bar home to cry on her mamas shoulder."
As I liked the characters and story, I'm not listing these errors to be mean, and hope it's not coming across as such. Instead, I hope to bring it to light so the writing may be refined and enriched for a better reading experience.

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

This is a well written adult novella. I will confess that I secretly hoped that the guy on the cover was in fact a pet and that wasn't the curse but that is my little quirk and has no reflection on the story itself.

I think the author has done a good job combining some ideas that are well known in the paranormal circles and adding a couple of new twists. The idea of the agency will allow for the series to progress with different characters without getting stale and that is always a good thing.

I would like to see the ideas expanded into full novels. For me there was so much packed in, although it made for a very quick and easy read, I would have liked a little more story expansion, something I feel this author would be more than capable of achieving.

A sold 4 stars for me and even with the wolves I would be interested in seeing where this series goes.

Houston and his brothers have been cursed to be werewolves through no fault of their own but by a father that was a floozy who messed with the wrong voodoo priests daughter (or in this case wouldn't mess around with her).. His sons are left to try to break the curse put on them with no idea where to even begin. Houston rescues Cameron from a car crash which starts a wild investigation that goes from kidnappers, killers, and serial killers. Will Houston convince Cameron to be his, will she accept the impossible or will she run away. There are so many unexpected twists and turns in this book that you will keep turning the pages.

I enjoyed reading this book once I put my "reality meter" away and just reminded myself this is fantasy since my brain kept saying no way is a cop having wild sex while reviewing security footage for a kidnapping. Wild sex is the cure all for all conditions and a great distraction from your greatest fears. I am looking forward to the second book to find out if Houston's brother Felan and Liz the woman he's obsessed with have a chance.

Fantastic! Can't wait to start the next book. Melissa shows a talent for grabbing your interest and holding it throughout the story. She had me anticipating the next book when I was halfway through this story. An intriguing story full of adventure and mystery.

Houston is the Head of Five Brothers Security and the alpha of his pack. His father's promiscuous ways and his rejection of a Voodoo Queen's daughter, having left them all cursed to run as wolves under the moon. Hating the curse, they're all determined not to pass it on by having unprotected sex. But when Houston finds Cameron, not only do he feel a connection but his wolf demands he claim her as their mate.

Cameron is a strong woman who won't be pushed around. Meeting Houston and his commanding ways has her both irritated and hot. She goes along with his way because it's what she wants but she makes sure he knows he's not the boss of her. Realizing she has met her fate has her determined to push aside her past and fears so she can fully accept her future.

I received my copy of HOUSTON as part of a promotional competition, and as someone who doesn’t normally read ‘shifter’ stories I was fascinated. I was even more intrigued when I found that I was familiar with the area in which the story was set, and found myself almost peeking around corners between the words to find landmarks that I knew.
Melissa Bell has woven an interesting and compelling story into this book and her characters are both credible and compelling. Cameron, the leading female character, is a strong and intelligent woman, and Houston is most definitely an alpha male, having a firm leadership role among his brothers. The situations they find themselves in as part of their professional lives are well written and believable, and their growing relationship drives the story forward.
The kicker towards the end is absolutely not what I was expecting, so much so that I completely taken by surprise and loved it. I am now off to search out copies of the rest of the Five Brothers Series, so that I can find out what happens next.

I was given this for my honest review, this is the first book I have read by Melissa and most definitely won't be my last. There was so many twists and turns it keeps your attention from the start and you never lose interest, there is chemistry between the two main characters from the start and you get the loyalty between the brothers, trust, protectiveness and admiration comes through in how well written it is. the way it all unravels about how the brothers are able to shift pulls at your heart strings and you can't help but love them all, Cameron is pulled into this because of a case she is working on and how they all pull together on their speciality jobs to get answers is brilliant, the whole story is fantastically put together and I can't wait to read the next one

Houston, Five brothers Series - Melissa Bell 5 stars

Houston an ex federal agent, finds Cameron unconscious when her car has crashed and he knows from that moment onwards he can't leave her, he is drawn to her in a way he has never been drawn to anyone before. Cameron is a detective and Houston find himself drawn into her world and the events that spiral from there. Gripping read.

I loved this book and the paranormal element to it, a really great read that kept me captivated from the first few pages and all the way through - had to read this in one session. My goodness there were so many twists and turns that I really didn't expect, I loved that it really wasn't predictable at all. Will most definitely look out for more from this author.

When they come together the steamy sex will blow your mind. Cameron has a case of missing women and Houston decides he will help her and also keep an eye on her. Houston wolf is going crazy to mate with Cameron and what happens next is. This book is so well written that I was unable to quit reading the book until I finished. This is a great beginning to an awesome series, can’t wait to see what happens next

Houston and his brothers are trying to make a fresh start. In comes a female detective named Cameron... And all Houston knows goes out the window! There are wolves, police, a car wreck, a serial killer, an ex boyfriend, a "best" friend, romance and voodoo all wrapped exquisitely in this book. As I was reading this book I thought I had the ending pegged but BOY was I wrong! The format and editing were great making it an easy read. I'm giving this book a 5 star because the ending was so not what I was expecting. Great job Melissa Bell and I hope to see the other brothers have a book.

This book takes a new twist of the creation of the wolf shifters which is very refreshing. The characters are very well presented and believable, I loved how close the brothers are especially considering they were not raised together. This book was given to me for an honest review. I have never read anything by this author before now so I am as unbiased as they get. This was a wonderfully written book. OH MY GOODNESS! The characters were well developed, story line was strong, edited very well, and sex that will melt your Kindle, computer, or phone. I don't believe in giving a blow by blow synopsis when the author and some reviewers already have. NO SPOILERS FROM ME!!! If you like paranormal erotic romance you will love this book. This book is the first in this series and I can't wait to read the next 4.

Had the pleasure of reading the first three books together, so I didn't have to wait with baited breath for the next book. This is a really satisfying read. Good plot and character development, the sexy bits were an extension of adult life - a very full adult life, but it didn't detract from a really excellent story. This is the first book that was a strong foundation on which the others followed. Highly recommend this series for a satisfying read.

First book read by Melissa Bell and will now be reading many more by her.

Houston was a completely different take on the 'normal' shifter reads.

The storyline was gripping, contained lots of surprises and hot steamy scenes. Houston is a hot alpha male, a gentleman with an unbreakable bond with his brothers. Cameron is a strong independent feisty woman.

This story is a great read, fast paced and will keep you hooked the whole way through. Now onto Felan #2

Well I know I wrote a review on this book right after I finished it but I don't see it here. So I am rewriting it to encompass all the books I have read thus far. This is a great series of books about some great brothers who would do anything for one another, even though they all had a rough start in life... They each have to go through trials to claim their mates. I wish there were more than 5 brothers... Just Finished Lupe's story today, and it was great too. Great job Melissa Bell!
