Faye had not been back to Rockport in several years. When her father died, she and her mother had angry words with each other that severed ties between Faye and her family. She works for a large company in Boston and is working on a difficult merger when she gets a call from her brother telling her that their mom has health problems and she needs to come home. As she drives into the town she grew up in, she sees memories of her beloved father everywhere and misses him even more. When she arrives at her childhood home, her brother and sister in law and their two children are living there to help take care of her mother and Faye feels like an outsider. Neither her brother or her mother are particularly welcoming to her and she has to fight the urge to return to Boston. But her life in Boston is very lonely so she decides to try to stay in Rockport until after Christmas. Life in her hometown begins to look up when she meets her first boyfriend, Sam, while she's shopping for groceries. The long ago feelings that they had for each other begin to re-surface and she begins to question her future. Can she become part of her family again and end the estrangement with her mother and brother? Is there a future with Sam? The more time that she spends on holiday festivities in Rockport, the easier her decision becomes.
This final book in the series was a look at Christmas in a small town and how the Christmas spirit can change hearts and futures.
I really enjoyed this book. A broken family, each with a desire to patch up their issues, but they don’t know how. Faye moved from her hometown of Rockport seven years ago after her father passed away. She might have stayed but her mother practically pushed her away and let her know she couldn’t stay. Heartbroken and lonely, she never looked back, even though the hurt constantly had her questioning. She now has her dream job in Boston, but wonders if she will always feel like her family has forgotten her and doesn’t care at all. But when she gets that dreaded call, she knows she has to swallow her pride and make the trip, she never thought she would again. Who can be the bigger person, and who will continue to carry the grudges that tore them apart in the first place?
A Rockport Christmas is book 5 in the Festive Christmas series by Kimberly Thomas and the final book in this series. 4.5 stars
Faye returns home to Rockport after leaving years before after her father’s passing and strong words from her mother. Now a family crisis brings her back and along the way she sees her old boyfriend … can she find what’s been missing in her life…family, mending fences and hearts, joy, love and the holiday spirit…
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a great book about forgiveness and family. Faye believes her mother and brother hate her and never wanted her to come back home to Rockport. Her brother calls her though and tells her that her mother had had a mild stroke and that she should come home. There is a lot of tension at first, but once they finally open up, they work it al out. Great holiday story. Thank you Kimberly Thomas for the ARC!
Faye is returning to Rockport after a disturbing phone call from her brother, claiming her mother is having health issues. Her reluctant return is filled with hard feelings as she mourns the way her family treated her after her father’s death. Faye feels like she can’t quite measure up to her mother and brother’s expectations. Add in the difficult loss especially of the merger her business is trying to work out.
Thanksgiving you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
I really liked the first book in this series but felt the author should have stayed with the original plot. I was excited to have Liam Hastings brought back only to realize his character wasn't even the same. This made no sense to me at all so even though I liked the story it did not make sense as a series at all.
I thought this was another good book in this series. Faye heads home after her Mom’s health scare. She hasn’t been home in a long time. There’s a lot of emotion in this book. There’s also the possibility of second chance romance. It’s a heartwarming story set just before the holidays.
