After losing his first love to a brutal murder at fifteen, Jonah has sworn off letting anyone close to his heart. That's why he finds himself in Eric's bed. No strings, no feelings—their relationship couldn't possibly evolve beyond meaningless sex. It should have been the perfect plan, but Jonah didn't count on Eric having a roommate. As their paths keep crossing, Alan's endearing smiles and summer-sky eyes stir something dangerous in Jonah's chest—a fierce protectiveness that threatens to shatter his defenses.
Alan can't believe his eyes when the gorgeous man he's been quietly admiring at his favorite café suddenly appears in his kitchen—half-naked, no less. Behind Alan's timid exterior lies a vivid imagination fueled by the steamy stories he writes, but he never expected his favorite muse to end up in his best friend's bed. Life has a strange sense of humor, but despite his anxiety and guilty conscience, Alan remains optimistic. After all, even the darkest clouds have a silver lining.
His Tiny Sun is a tender yet steamy romance that balances raw emotion with warmth and humor. Through gentle care and healing moments, two wounded souls discover that even the deepest scars can heal—especially when Jonah's guarded heart can't help but melt for his tiny sun.

After losing his first love, Jonah is not one for romantic attachments and prefers being one and done. All of that changes when he runs into one of his hookups roommate, and can't get the absolute ray of sunshine out of his head. For the first time in five years Jonah starts to feel something for someone and he's terrified, but sweet sensitive Alan is impossible to resist.
Jonah and Alan are precious little angel babies, and I loved both of them so much. While I found their romance to be super sweet and steamy, it was also super emotional and hit me right in the feels. Both have suffered great losses, and struggle with anxieties that stem from that, Jonah most of all. There's a lot of misplaced guilt and trauma after losing Elliott, but seeing his character grow and get the help he needed so he could have a solid relationship with Alan was wonderful.
I honestly wish their story had been longer, I just loved them so much and didn't want their story to end.
This was very sweet. I do have a weakness for the chaos/serious, grumpy/sunshine pairings, but I found this one particularly engaging.
I feel like this showed real and understandable relationship struggles/insecurities, which made the journey believable.
The grief is poignant, and I teared up several times while reading this.
They totally all need therapy - at least Jonah gets some, and Alan does tell Eric he should consider it too. I must say, Alan also needs therapy, and this is coming from someone who identifies a lot with him and definitely did need therapy lol.
Eric is an ass. I can understand Alan wanting to keep him as a friend, but their whole friendship felt shallow and I think it could've benefited from more character development and apologies.
In the first 4 pages alone, Jonah managed to rendered himself completely unlikeable.
From his thought that Alan’s “casual demeanor after seeing a shirtless stranger materialize in his home said a lot about Eric’s sex life”… his worry about how loud they were immediately jumping to smugness that he is probably the only one that made Eric moan that loudly… his assumption that Eric’s towel wasn’t the cute ocean themed one (because slutty Eric can’t like cute things, I guess)… going through their toiletries because it reveals info about their personality… not wanting to drink of a mug with a cartoon character on it because it makes him feel like a toddler (as though that in and of itself shouldn’t make him feel like a toddler)… telling someone (the guy you are sleeping with) that he has shitty taste because he doesn’t like black coffee.
I agree Eric (and Alan) have shitty taste, but not because of how they prefer to take their coffee.
I considered DNFing multiple times in those first few pages, but thought I’d give Alan’s POV a shot. I like Alan. And that’s a shame, because Jonah once more shows himself to be an ass when Eric shows off his first car:
> Alan had to give it to Eric; Jonah was being unnecessarily hurtful. They always fought over the most random things, but Eric has just made a big life decision. Why couldn’t Jonah put his ego aside, for one minute, to congratulate him on his purchase? >
If the guy that has an inexplicable massive crush on Jonah thinks he is being an asshole, who am I to argue?
I find it’s not an uncommon issue I see when authors try to write a grumpy character… instead of being grumpy, they are just mean. You can be grumpy and still be a decent human being. Jonah? He’s giving arrogant, pretentious dickwad, not grumpy. Nothing about him is giving me grumpy.
I’m not here for it.
Also, very confused about the line where Jonah describes Eric’s skincare products as “sober but not cheap”.
↓↓ After losing his first love at such a young age, Jonah has sworn off relationships and love of any kind and has become a serious grump. He sticks with only hooks up.
Alan is such a ray of sunshine that when he meets the grumpy hook up of his best friend/roommate, also a long time crush, he is shocked to say the least.
I enjoyed watching theses two constantly cross path after they actually meet, its like the universe was trying to tell them something. These two are really the opposite but somehow they work really well together.
I loved how Jonah slowly began to heal his heart. It only took the right person to show him that he can love again.Such an emotional read.

First of all, I was concerned that this was going to be a love triangle in the first part of the novel. It took my sheer willingness to give the story a chance in order for me to realize this is most definitely not a love triangle.
Alan has been frequenting his favorite café where he sees his crush Jonah daily, something the reader doesn’t find out until after Alan runs into Jonas after Jonas has spent the night with Alan’s roommate, Eric. Alan quickly begins to try and avoid Jonas, but they seemingly keep crossing paths, so much so that Jonas ends up ending his situationship with Eric pretty early on. Jonas makes it clear to Alan that he wants to get to know one another but slowly, as Jonas has trauma he has yet to deal with. While most of the story does focus on Jonas and his issues, Alan also exhibits struggles with self-hatred, panic attacks, and issues with abandonment.
The story shows us insecurities and trauma for both our main characters in a realistic light. One of my favorite situations is when Alan unexpectedly becomes aware of Jonas’s background and Jonas does not respond well. The way the two are able to communicate and adapt to to one another is a nice change of pace to see in a mm romance. We see our characters struggle with acceptance, rejection, homophobia, and grief/loss among other things. We even see a slew of side characters who are incredibly interesting that exist alongside our main leads. I would absolutely love to read more about Flavien and Eric in a future story.
I think the author created a story around some relatable struggles that may readers could find themselves connecting with. I think the flow of the novel works really well in tandem with the pacing of the relationship between Jonas and Alan. Nothing seemed out of place nor rushed. I do think that sometimes Alan’s struggles were thrown into situations that felt out of place, like the beach scene. But it is not unrealistic to expect someone with self-confidence issues would have the response he did in that situation.
All in all, I think this was a refreshing read on a young romance between two absolutely adorable characters who both deserve to be loved. Spice is about a 2/5 for frequency but it is definitely done well so I’d give it a 4/5 for overall appropriate spiciness.
Wow, this was a book and a half. There was a hell of a lot to love in this book, with a bunch of important side characters and it felt like the side characters also had rich backstories and complex characterisations. There was a clear interest in the psychology of the characters, people didn't always act in the way you might expect, but it made sense for them with their vulnerabilities and history. Despite the blurb, there is no real love triangle here, it's obvious that Alan and Jonah are an amazing match.
Alan was just the sweetest character and frequently made me laugh or swoon at how gorgeously, wonderfully cute he is. He's a super special MC who will stay with me for a long time. I enjoyed the writing and would definitely read the author's work again. It appears this is a relatively new author and their first full-length work, which makes it even more impressive. There were some slightly awkward bits in the writing and non-standard use of words, which made me think English is probably not their first language, but despite that it was still very readable, although it would benefit from professional editing to smooth over the awkward bits. It was also too long, which again good editing would help with.
Overall, this was a strong book with great characters and it wasn't always predictable. I would definitely read more from this author.
Jonah, still haunted by the pain of his first love's death, is wary of committing to anybody again. The encounter with the roommate of one of his hookups alters everything; he can't stop thinking about the radiant sunshine. Jonah is frightened to have romantic feelings for the first time in five years, yet he can't help but be drawn to Alan, who is both sweet and sympathetic. I loved Jonah and Alan with all my heart; they are angel kids. I was deeply moved by their passionate romance, which was both passionate and lovely. They have both had devastating losses and deal with the resulting anxiety; Jonah more so than the other. After losing Elliott, there is a lot of trauma and misguided guilt, but it was great to watch his character develop and receive the support he needed to build a strong relationship with Alan.I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
A lost love has left Jonah wary of love and forming connections. He settles for no strings liaisons one of which lead to his finding Alan. Alan was Eric's roommate. Jonah gets out of Eric's bed looking for the facilities only to run into Alan. Alan got Jonah's attention which starts him on his journey from freezing out connection and love. Alan knew Jonah from his favorite cafe and was already interested and crushing on him a bit. Their actual meeting may not have been a meet-cute. But it broke the ice and started them on their way to the meaningful connection they both need as they both work through personal issues that have hampered each of them. This was lovely and at a pace that felt appropriate given the things that each man is working his way through. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The author does a wonderful job writing with emotion and in developing the two main characters. Jonah and Alan feel authentic and the author gives them rich histories. Both with real pain, guilt, and trauma in their past, but also wonderful and supportive friendships. I really appreciated the focus on healing and mental health, for both Alan and Jonah. I’m not sure that it quite came together as a romance for me. But as a story of the healing power of reaching out and connecting with others, it was really lovely. Rounding up for Sean and Isobel, who were absolute friendship heroes!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a great set-up for the meeting of Jonah and Alan. Alan the writer has been observing Jonah in a cafe for a while and using him to fuel his fantasties for the stories he writes. How shocking to find Jonah casually hooking up with his roommate and standing in his kitchen one morning. It was amusing how these two kept bumping into each other and despite both having past issues that have prevented them for being in a serious relationship for a good while, slowly but surely grumpy Jonah and sunshine Alan get under each others' defenses and find happiness together. Sweetness and sadness are nicely mixed in this one.
Loved this tale of healing and kindness, intense friendships and just varied personalities. Everyone should have an Alan in their lives, intuitive and kind with a flip side of writing erotica from his every day encounters. As I am a big fan of broken men, I adored Jonah and his struggle to heal and keep Elliot a part of his life at the same time. The scene in the cemetery was very heartbreaking. In the beginning of this book I was quite confused and almost stopped reading but my curiosity got the best of me and I am glad it did. Oh, an honorable motion to Dr. Kruger and Jonah's Mom and lots of wonderful French.
Sweet! Jonah, suffered a romantic tragedy that scarred him at an early age. He closed his heart down. He settles a benefits relationship with Eric. Eric's roommate and best friend Alan is quietly crushing on Jonah when he frequently sees him at his café. Alan, has a few personal challenges that affect his self esteem, but he is trying. This is a story of getting to know and like oneself and finding one's path. Good story, nice flow. You just want to hug these guys. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The writing is amazing and it was easy to read. I didn't really like the way the relationship started thought it was a bit toxic and thought Johna was a bit of an ah at the start but the plot gets better as you read on and it all becomes vital to the story. I liked Alan and though he was cute and quirky. The couples relationship is so cute and they are absolutely adorable together and the plot is a good read.
This was a difficult book for me to review. I wasn't sure how I could explain the sweetness of the plot and the lovely characters. I liked the unconventional approach to Alan and Jonah's relationship. I won't give any details of the story but they were sweet. I loved the sweetness, I just didn't love the pacing. The writing is excellent as well as the character development. Overall a decent read. I will check this author's other offerings in the future.
I found Jonah and Alan to be beyond precious. Their romance stems from loss and heartbreak but despite that is so awkwardly adorable. Jonah does not know how to move forward and feel again. I loved that there was no way he could not fall for sweet Alan. Simply put I was all warm fuzzy for these too. And well add in the size difference and I was a goner.
I honestly just loved Alan and Jonah so much! The characters in this book are absolutely amazing, and the story just touched my heart! Alan is an utterly sweet and delightful person!! Jonah, poor sweet baby, I really liked a lot. These two hit me in my feelings, and I wanted to hug them both. It's just an overall excellent read!
What a delightful but emotional storyline. So many ups and downs and past trauma's to be overcome! I absolutely loved Alan he was such a great character and after all the angst was so glad he got the relationship he deserved with his "muse"! I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
This was a heart wrenchingly wonderful book. Significant hurt/comfort on both sides. The main characters are really well developed, and so are the secondary characters! The plot is interesting, and though it felt a bit long, the depth kept me interested throughout.
He sworn never to love again when he lost his love at just 15 but life is going to throw him a curveball. They will move in and things will soon become steamy between them even if they try to fight against it. See how it will all work out
His Tiny Sun is the first book I've read by Ashe Green and I really hope to read more from them. This is a grumpy/sunshine, size difference, hurt/comfort read about Alan and Jonah. I loved this storyline and the wonderful characters.
3.5 out of 5. I enjoyed this book. I was interested to see how the relationships between the characters would pan out, considering the whole roommate situation. I will say some things were a bit odd, like how Alan never talked about his parents until closer to the end or why Jonah never thought to ask sooner. Overall, I liked the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
This was a very emotional read for me but it was also such an incredible one. I loved watching these two find each other. I absolutely loved this book.
Bylo to boring a Alan annoying…na mně prostě až moc sweet romance story, zápletka s mrtvým ex bf sice smutná, ale ne zase tak dobře potom zpravovaná v dějový lince
