Four months ago, everything changed for 19-year-old Rainer Hemming. His carefree days ended, as every night after he struggled to contain a beast within. Gone were any hopes of pursuing the life he had chosen, of continuing on with his friends and family.
A ravenous sense of vengeance fell onto what had once been a kind heart, pushing him onward, chasing after the one he held responsible for his affliction.
In search of the woman that changed him, he stumbled onto more than he could have ever imagined.
On a doomed outing, Rainer finds himself at odds with a newfound ally, and yet he begins to see that there may be something beneath her icy exterior and piercing blue eyes.
Something that breathes new purpose into his existence.
Together they set out, charged with the protection of mankind, and at a bloody cost Rainer quickly learns that more than one monster stalks the night.
What a great debut! This is a shifter/paranormal urban fantasy packed with action & a romantic subplot. And talk about a slowwww burrnnnnn romance that was executed so tastefully.
This is book one of the Chaos Series so a lot of world building. But when the action started… wow. I could not turn the pages fast enough.
The story follows Rainer, a young man trying to navigate his new normal- being a werewolf. As Rainer is trying to find the woman responsible for turning him he is forced to face his new reality. You witness Rainer join a secret werewolf military where he forms familial ties with his squad. Trying to accept the newfound werewolf he is, Rainer also learns there are vampires?! And even… something else? But as T.C. says…. “Not all is as it seems”
Seeing Rainer grapple with who he WAS, who he is NOW, becoming ONE with his inner wolf, and WHAT he is destined for was a treat. The ending had a twist I didn’t see coming and I’m eager to see where book 2 leads us next.
You’ll like this book if you enjoy: paranormal fantasy, romantic subplot (no spice), found family, military ops
I won’t lie, this is not my usual go to genre but oh am I SO GLAD I STEPPED OUT OF MY COMFORT! This book is nothing short of great and it’s astounding it’s the debut of TC Weaver and his writing.
I adore Fenrir and Frost. I love the storyline and this world you get brought in to.
Whispers of Chaos captivated me from the very first page, delivering excitement and action right out of the gate. Rainer, known as Fenrir, the main character, is a young adult navigating his new life as a werewolf. His quest to find the person responsible for his transformation leads him to discover that not only are werewolves real, but so are vampires.
Rainer becomes part of the Alpha team, comprised of others like himself, who play a significant role in the story. While Frost is his love interest, the romance is not the main focus. Although the book has no "spice," the slow-burn relationship and feelings of longing are beautifully portrayed.
I teared up a few times during the story, especially in one part that made me cry like a baby because my heart hurt for the characters. The plot twist was truly mind-blowing, shaking me to my core and leaving me eager for more. The cliffhanger ending left me eagerly anticipating the next installment.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story, regardless of their usual genre preference. Although I don't have a lot of fantasy books under my belt, this one has become my favorite, largely due to the well-developed characters. When an author can make you deeply care for both main and side characters, you know they've done an exceptional job.
I'm thrilled to have discovered this debut author, T.C. Weaver, and I'm excited to see where this story goes and the journey these characters take next.
This book is a shifter romance like none I’ve ever read before. The way T.C. incorporates his faith into his writing is like a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre. Not too much but just enough. This book follows Rainer a young man eager to find answers. The booked is packed with amazing characters that T.C. does so well in describing you can actually picture them in your mind. There’s tons of action a little romance and a twist you don’t see coming. This book leaves you thirsting for more! T.C. Did a stunning job for his first book and I cannot wait to see what he does with book two. I 100% recommend this book to anyone that loves shifter stories
This is a very unique shifter romance with werewolves and vampires. It focuses primarily on the fantasy aspect with a heavy militant, religious and political background. There is dab of romance thrown in with no spice. The story borrows some from mythology.
The story is well written and follows an MMC through many trials. The cast of characters brings great depth to the story. I can’t wait for the second book. I highly recommend.
4.5 stars I very much enjoyed this debut book by T.C. Weaver. This book is set in modern-day and centers around a young man whose world turns upside down when he discovers he's been made a werewolf. His journey into adulthood, leaving behind all he's known and can never go back to leads him to found family, a mission, and life's purpose. This book was quick-paced and kept me engaged. I learned to love all the characters and felt as if they were real people. The author artfully described scenes and settings as if I were watching a TV show or movie rather than reading a book. This book leans more into urban warfare than I anticipated but I found it compelling and make for a great story. Many passages reflect on life lessons and remind us that we must live in the present and use the tools we have to forge our way forward.
The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. There was enough resolve to leave me satisfied until the next book comes out but enough of a hanger that I am eagerly awaiting its publication. There are also a few loose ends that I hope are tied up or brought back into the story in book two, namely, Vivien, the snowflake necklace, and Ranier's journey to finding the wolf who turned him. This was a fantastic read and I am so glad to have read it.
This book is for you if you enjoy: urban fantasy, urban warfare, werewolves, vampires, found family, and young adult slow-burn romance.
Whispers of Chaos was a fun read and a little different from my normal books. There are a lot of Christian undertones and references of prayer and being a believer so this would be perfect fantasy book series for Christian fantasy readers. It is also a good coming of age book and has some light romantic themes.
I am not normally drawn to this type of genre of book however the way that T.C. Weaver grabs your attention within the first chapter makes you want to continue reading to find out what else is going to happen. I can’t wait to read the second book!
This book was so good! It was well written and I wanted to know more. There are twists that some might not see coming and lovable characters that grow individually as well as together!
For it to be a 1st time book I can say I loved it and can't wait to read the rest of the series to find out what happens to Rainer and the rest of the crew.
