I only gave this book two stars because the author spent so infernally long on studying Abraham and pretty much left a footnote about the entire life of Joseph who happens to be my favorite O.T. character. Yes, you can learn from this book.
Recently, I ordered Waltke's book on Genesis. I am hoping that he actually likes Joseph.
Did this with my small group this year, and it was a great guide for delving in deeper and rediscovering parts of Genesis and God's story. Created a good jumping off place for discussion, too.
All of the books in this series are solid theologically and ask good questions. Its the best single series I've personally used for introducing a book along with its purpose and who it was written to (if its an epistle) and why it was written. Very good stuff.
It only had four chapters left to go but I felt like the book was making me not want to do bible study. It is an inductive bible study format but it was mor of a prescribed format with all the particulars figured out to push you in on direction instead of it being led by the participant.
