Kincaid Family Enterprises sits atop a Vegas real estate empire. Some of our business is legal, while parts hide in the shadows… That’s where I come in. Enforcer who does the dirty work.
Not talented enough to be King. Not smart enough to be CEO. Not clever enough to think our way out of a war that threatens to take everything we’ve worked to build.
Until fate and circumstance align, and I find myself with the perfect chance. Frame our enemies and win this war.
The catch? I’ll have to fake my own death.
The problem? I’m not the only one who’ll have to play dead.
Enter Kate Adams, beautiful med student. When she witnesses the murder of my cousin, she finds herself smack in the middle of the storm.
It’s not my fault, but what happens next is my choice.
I can save Kate, who is everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman, or I can rescue my family and finally prove my worth.
I can’t have both.
I know all the things I’m not. But it’s time to find out, who I am and what I’m made of.
Wow! I didn’t put this book down once until I finished reading. Luke and Kate have an unusual first meeting. All she wanted was a nice dinner out, since she’s a poor med student, but ends up in a deadly situation. The pace is fast and the characters are engaging. I loved Luke’s loyalty to his family yet evolves as the book goes on. Kate is plucky and realistic about her predicament. Highly recommend the Lords of Las Vegas series.
I received a free copy of the book in advance and am leaving this review voluntarily.
The fifth story in the Lords of Las Vegas, Luke Kincaid and Kate's story of two people who have some things to overcome in this drama-filled story. there is danger, kidnapping, suspense, twists, turns, villains, a happy ending an romance. I found their story to be well worth reading. This series just gets better with each new book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Look, I know we suspend belief on books a lot but there was just too many things that had me going,”nope, would never happen” right from the start of this one. Small spoilers below.
📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖
Got kidnapped (threatened with impending SA too) and still trying to escape from said kidnapper while eye-fucking the guy who’s helping you? Who you don’t know the name of and have known for barely 30 min. Just stop. Massive head injury that has immediate loss of memory and the one chick with medical experience (granted it’s only one year of med school at the time) doesn’t seem super concerned or I dunno…feel the need to call a fucking doctor?! But we’ll get to a safe house as soon as he’s awake and then bang straight away. Cause that makes sense. 🙄
There were so many things in this one that had me irritated and the farther the series has gone on, the more typos I see too. Not just the occasional misspelling, but entire words missing in sentences. 😑
I’ll read book 6 because I’d like to see how Mason redeems himself as he’s been nothing but an utter shite for several books now. Also somewhat interested in Arabella’s story…she’s a somewhat unknown as of right now.
This series has me in a chokehold. I love all the Kincaids. This was written so beautifully, and the way that Lukes fears and vulnerability are shown is lovely because men need to know it's ok to not be ok. He doesn't know his worth to his family, but Kate knows how to show him 🩵💙
Self doubt within the family, leads him to rash decisions. The only thing he isn’t iffy on is her. The women he’ll protect. And the cabin, wow! So good. Can’t wait for the last book!
Kate is on the worst date of her life. Not that she dates much but having a gun held to her head isn’t her idea of a date. Enter Luke Kincaid. Sure, he’s bleeding and broken. So when he offers me a bargain, his protection for my medical expertise, I accept. They need to escape & leave Las Vegas The fifth book in this riveting series centring on the Kincaid family. I loved both Luke & Kate their first meeting is very different. The attraction between them is electric & their banter delicious. They flee for their lives but even so stop to rescue a family whose car has broken down. He’s protective, caring, charming, gorgeous & falls hard for Kate. She’s out to prove she can make something of herself by becoming a doctor, she also falls hard. They both have insecurities but bolster each other, I loved their story & highly recommend it & the whole series I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
PSA: I am not great at articulating my thoughts. This is just my opinion. Love what you love!
Yikes. This book was a massive disappointment. I was honestly shocked to see it was the second highest rated book in this series because it was just not for me. Now, if you're looking for plot and well developed characters you may agree with my take. If you're just looking for pages and pages of smut, than you may disagree. Honestly, I would love to read a book where there was some sense to these kind of traumatic situations of being shot, kidnapped and chased. Have some build up to make the intimacy more rewarding. This book threw all that out the window and these two went at it like rabbits the whole time. I know Andersen can do better, I loved "King of Temptation," so I was not expecting almost DNF'ing one of her books.

~*~*~*~Character Reviews~*~*~*~
The FMC: Katherine "Kate" Adams - 2.5 Stars Super disappointed in Kate as a character. I was so excited after reading "King of Ruin" because I liked the dynamic between her and Maddie before they were separated. I was eager to see how she would be a competent med-student girl boss. Instead, we get some horned up virgin who knows how to take a dicking at every chance she can get. I'm annoyed because Kate had potential but just acted so bizarre. Would some women actually act like this? Sure, there are billions of people and it takes all sorts; but the average woman? Really? This whole novel read like it was written by a man and her "boobs would boob, boobily," or some kind of cringey description.
The MMC: Lucas "Luke" Kincaid - 2.5 Stars I don't even know how to start with my issues. I can appreciate a guy who likes nicknames (looking at you Sawyer from LOST), but everything Luke said in this book made me cringe. The amount of times he called Kate 'Love' just became this irritating, repetitive thing. His incompetence was apparently because he was dyslexic, which just seemed like a cop-out. His family really put a guy bad with numbers in charge of an engineering project and had no concept? The author makes Luke look super incompetent that he keeps messing things up and then continues to just think with his penis during all the other potentially dangerous situations. Even in the middle of being kidnapped this man is telling Kate to cover up her cleavage as if that is the most important thing going on in the moment. Ugh.
The Antagonist(s): Introduced as a cousin to the Vendetti twins, Guerriero is a member of the Italian Mafia who is visiting from Rome. I am going to assume that maybe he was the guy Carcetti wanted to marry to Antonia, but that is just a guess. He can hardly speak English and Luke gives him the nickname 'Gorilla' which seems to fit how lumbering the guy is. He was a bit of a dud on the bad guy front, seeming like someone out of an Austin Powers movie than anything serious or deadly.
The Supporting Cast: I don't have a lot to add on this one since most of the people were all the usuals from the Kincaid family. Like "King of Wrath," with Jake and Nia, this one is a forced proximity where it is mostly just Luke and Kate alone together the whole time. There wasn't a lot more going on, so anyone new coming into the picture were super side-characters and not altogether interesting. Hell, we didn't even get a Kate and Maddie reunion which was disappointing.
~*~*~*~The Little Details~*~*~*~
The Plot: After being shot and tossed into a trunk, Luke Kincaid finds himself kidnapped by the crazy Vendetti twins. Lucky for him, they have Kate, a doctor who had been on a date with Vincent Vendetti before everything went wrong. Tasked to patch up Luke, Kate is taken with him when he flees. The two spend several days on the lamb, trying to outwit the Vendetti's and their cousin Guerriero. Along the way, however, tension snaps and the two form an undeniable bond.
This plot had merit, there was a lot here that could have gone well. Again, my biggest issue with Andersen's writing in the insta-love. They met, had sex, fell in love and got engaged in less than a week. It's just so extreme. Making things more realistic, adding some real stakes to things, build up would make the tension all the better once things finally come together . Nothing feels earned in these last few books and it is very frustrating.
The Spice: There was so much smut in this book, it was probably more than 50% of the pages had some kind of sexual reference, sexual scene or innuendo. At almost every moment, the MMC was thinking with his dick and the FMC had wet panties. It was just too much. Andersen's spice has increasingly gotten more graphic and vulgar as the books have gone on. The realism of a virgin constantly climbing a strange man like a seasoned hooker is just out the window. The sex was plentiful and very graphic. I skimmed/skipped a lot of it because it was adding nothing to the plot. I give this 5/5 peppers.
Emotional Damage: There was no emotional damage in this book for me. Other than the confession from Kate that , there was nothing of note. What was more, Luke had nothing to do with the revenge because the guy had already received his come-uppens. I didn't feel badly for Luke at all. All the characters felt very surface level and the authors attempt at drama with the amnesia? It was really cringey.
Reading Experience: Did not enjoy this book at all. I ended up skipping almost all the sex scenes and found Luke's nicknames to be really cringey. I wanted this book to be done and even considered DNF'ing.
Book Length & Pacing: I definitely would have DNF'd this book if it had been any longer. That it was only 200 pages allowed me to push through to get the basics of the plot away from all the spice. The pacing was so slow, having to slog through another BJ or intimate encounter between actual conversation of worth.
Miscellaneous Information: Just a little side note as I am really kind of confused by the titles of some of Andersen's books. Unless she meant the pain I was going to be in as a reader, I am not sure why Luke would be a King of Pain. He didn't do anything. The craziest thing he did was hit some people with a pool skimmer. He didn't really do anything wrong, he didn't inflict pain on anyone. He was never in that much pain. I feel like the titles at a bit click-baitey or attempting to paint the book as more edgy than it actually is.
~*~*~*~Questions to Consider~*~*~*~
Would I Buy the Book? No. I would not want to ever own this book unless I happened to get it in a box set or a gift.
Would I Re-Read the Book? No. Even if I did a re-read of the whole series again, I would be tempted to skip this one.
Will I Continue the Series? Yes; however, this is the first time I have questioned it. This book was bad. I want to have high hopes for the others.
I say it every time but I just love this Kincaid family. The tone of this book was much different from the others in the series. Even though they are escaping danger it is more lighthearted to me. Luke is part of this powerful real estate family of Las Vegas. But he thinks he doesn’t bring much to the table. He’s good under pressure though. Kate is a med student who was caught in the crosshairs after a date gone wrong. Luke saves her and then end up stuck together for days. Kate is insecure and vulnerable. These two give off a younger couple vibe for sure but in a good way. I love them together. This book is good because it’s shorter and easy to read and follow along. There is plenty of spice while also having a good plot and storyline. Things move quickly in the story, and between them, but it just works and I like it!
👑King of pain, Tammy Andresen 216 pagini (Lords of Las Vegas, #5)
👑Posibile spoilere!
This was terrible. Sorry but there’s so many mistakes and inaccuracies it’s laughable! Mason has turned into an evil dictator controlling his family.and that’s not his character!
Oh boy. I think this author has lost the plot. Mason in this book is even worse and is playing with peoples lives and controlling them, and it’s awful. He’s not like that! When did he have a personality transplant? In Roman’s book he was hurt and Mason was taken by the Italians. Roman suspected that Mason knew that Luke was alive and okay and in this one it confirms it. Mason didn’t tell Roman as he was manipulating him for some bizarre reason. 😡
When Luke is wounded and taken by the Italians, Kate who is a trainee doctor is also taken. After they manage to escape and travel across the country, somehow the ‘stupid evil Italians’ (Authors words not mine.) manage to find them across country and track them to Colorado. then to Luke’s house. So they’re really not stupid then. 😡😡😡 Kate is a trainee doctor who of course is a virgin who never dates and is really inexperienced. 🙄 So annoying! Of course they are soon having s*x constantly and I started skimming pages.
Kate has a lot of insecurities as she thinks Luke is too good for her. Yawn. So much so that when they’re in a diner she gets paranoid that Luke will want the waitress. Oh good grief! Luke has a lot of insecurities as well. As he is obviously dyslexic and has maths blindness he feels like he doesn’t have anything to contribute to the family. Mason capitalises on that and pressurises Luke to use Kate and hide out. I found it really despicable especially as poor Kate loses the chance to work as an intern for the summer.
Eventually Luke grows a back bone and stands up to Mason. Finally! After poor Kate has lost her chance! I’m not even going into Luke having a major injury that he doesn’t go to the hospital for and is perfectly fine.
King of Pain Lords of Las Vegas #5 by Tammy Andresen
Who rescued who? Luke would tell you that Kate rescued him…..Kate would say the exact opposite, but after finding out who Luke really is maybe Kate would say she was captured … or maybe it was her heart he captured and maybe her trust in him was what rescued her….who knows you have to read this wonderful story.
Luke is an easy going kinda guy, oh he’s a Kincaid, but as far as he is concerned he brings nothing to the table. Oh yes he is charming, handsome, often can add comic reliet to the situation…but inside he is sure he is pretty worthless, ok he is good in a fight but that’s about it. And that might be the one thing that stands out when you are looking at Luke…his self-confidence when it comes to anything for the Kincaid business is lower that low.
Kate’s upbringing was a rotating door of men! Not good because many of those men were not good men, although there was one man she could count on, but he wasn’t there the night Luke got shot and they got wisked away by the Vendetti brothers.
Can Kate and Luke get away from the Italians and figure out how to get to safety?
I keep saying these books can’t get better but this one now sits on the top for me. A man who has kinda of surfed through life using his charm and good looks to hide his diffictulty with words and numbers. He wants to come clean to the family but then what would happen?
Kate and Luke are attracted to each other from almost the beginning. Their banter, his sweet talking…..the sparks that fly, the heat that builds….yeah that!
I savoured everything about this book, Luke and his issue, Kate and her not wanting to become like her mother….kept me glued to my seat. Now for Arabella’s book…..and what will big brother Mason do when she comes back to Vegas?
Tammy Andresen’s contemporary romance series featuring the enigmatic Kincaid men continues to captivate with its latest installment, "King of Pain." This electrifying addition to the mafia billionaire genre keeps its readers hooked with thrilling elements and complex characters.
The narrative unfolds around Luke Kincaid, a classic 'bad boy' with a dangerous allure, who finds himself in peril after being shot by his family's enemies, the Vendetti brothers. The plot thickens as Luke, along with Kate, a medical student caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, is kidnapped. Forced to rely on each other, Kate tends to Luke's injuries, and an unexpected bond begins to form as Luke vows to protect her.
Both Luke and Kate are deeply developed characters, each dealing with personal insecurities. Kate is wary of relationships due to her mother's turbulent love life and focuses on her career. Luke, on the other hand, feels inadequate in the family business due to his struggles with numbers and reading. This vulnerability adds depth to his character and his relationship with Kate, which helps drive his personal growth.
The chemistry between Luke and Kate is palpable, marked by intense passion and several intimate scenes. Luke’s use of affectionate pet names brings a sweet touch to their dynamic. Their journey is both a literal and figurative escape from danger, as they flee from the Vendetti brothers while simultaneously confronting their inner demons.
Packed with unexpected twists and emotional depth, "King of Pain" is a compelling read that fans of the series will adore. I eagerly anticipate Arabella's story as Andresen continues to weave a tapestry of intrigue, romance, and personal redemption.
Overall, this series comes highly recommended for fans of the genre. I received an ARC (advanced review copy) for free and am sharing my thoughts voluntarily.
Each and every one of the Kincaid men have been protective and possessive of their women but each one also has had their own special qualities with the handsome charmer of this book being Luke Kincaid, cousin to the Kincaid brothers, but just as important in the family dynamics. Previous books have hinted of Luke being shot, missing and possibly dead but as this one begins he’s alive but stuffed into the back of the Vendetti’s trunk with a bleeding wound to the arm. And he’s not alone with the Vendettis, the Kincaid’s rivals. In the car is Vincent Vendetti’s dinner date, Kate, a medical student, who is now frightened and being forced to attend to Luke’s wound. But as Luke makes eye contact with her and reassures her by calling her “love” and confirming he’s going to protect her, they begin to work together to find an escape from the Vendetti’s clutches. An intriguing adventure begins, not only in the physical escape but also in the hearts of both Kate and Luke. Two “perfect” people in many ways reveal their imperfections to each other with the other one loving them even more for them. The story begins with extreme danger as Luke and Kate make their escape, but mellows out as the two hide out giving the author time to develop the two characters to the fullest, but the intensity picks back up at the end when danger is once again outside their door. As this book ends, tension seems to be building within the Kincaid family making the anticipation of what is to come in the next book great and we have yet to hear the story of Arabella, the princess of tithe Kincaid family, and I do believe Gris Smith is still due to pay retribution. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Tammy Andresen just does not miss. I devoured King of Pain in one sitting no breaks, no skips. From page one, I was locked in. Luke and Kate? Absolute fire. Their first meeting is pure chaos (in the best way). She’s a broke med student just trying to enjoy a quiet dinner, and he’s bleeding out while interrupting her date—if you can even call being held at gunpoint a date. From there? Buckle up.
The story is fast-paced and electric, but what really sold me was the heart. Luke is the kind of man who thinks he brings nothing to the table charming, yeah, but deeply insecure under the surface. And Kate? She’s all fire and grit, shaped by a childhood full of unstable men and determined not to become her mother. But together? They bring out the best in each other. She sees through Luke’s self-doubt, and he gives her a kind of unconditional safety she’s never had.
Their banter is flirty and fast, their chemistry is off the charts, and there’s real emotional weight behind the action. One minute I’m swooning, the next I’m gripping the edge of my Kindle as they run for their lives. They even stop mid-escape to help a stranded family on the road?? Like who does that? Soft hearts under survival mode that’s who.
What I love about this series is how each Kincaid sibling feels distinct, and Luke might just be my favorite. He’s not the loudest or the most ruthless, but he feels the deepest. And Kate challenges him in ways no one else has. This isn’t just a run-and-hide mafia romance it’s about self-worth, found family, trust, and falling for someone who sees all of you and still chooses you, every time.
Kate Adams' evening takes a dangerous turn when her dinner date holds her at gunpoint. Kidnapped and ordered to patch up the injured Luke Kincaid, Kate finds herself entangled with a rich, charismatic bad boy. Shot by his family's enemies, the Vendetti brothers, Luke offers Kate a deal—tend to his bullet wound, and he'll ensure her safety. Accepting his offer, they embark on a perilous escape from Vegas.
Both grappling with insecurities, Luke feels inadequate in the family business due to difficulties with reading and numbers, while Kate is wary of relationships after being hurt plus her mother's boyfriend a month club, has Kate focusing on her medical career. Their chemistry ignites instantly, leading to several passionate encounters. Luke's affectionate nicknames for Kate add a sweet touch to their intense connection. Their journey is a blend of romance, danger, and personal growth as they evade the Vendetti brothers.
The story's unexpected twists kept me hooked until the end. I'm already excited for Arabella Kincaid's story—the only female in the Kincaid family, whose hero has been intriguingly previewed. The author has continued to create masterpieces filled with the Vegas powerful underworld, intrigue, danger, love, romance, steam and family & personal redemption. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A mafia read that’s less Vegas and way more cozy country cabin, still completely action packed, hot, hot, hot, and most definitely has you salivating for Luke Kincaid! It’s thrilling escapes, sleezy motels, stolen cars, a cabin that’s just become Kate’s prison, and staying under the radar since everyone thinks Luke is dead and it kinda needs to stay that way. The chemistry is crackling, Kate is falling hard and fast, Luke’s lying a little and falling harder, they’re being hunted by a psycho and very angry Italian, and as usual Mason is playing puppeteer and Luke is ready to cut his strings. So pretty much another day as one of the Kincaid’s and another fantastic book in the Lord’s of Las Vegas series. Luke Kincaid, a just right blend of billionaire rich but happy to be tinkering under the hood of an old truck down to earth, which makes him even hotter because hello Mr. good with your hands. Seriously though I think he’s my favorite Kincaid so far. And this on the run mafia read is somehow way hotter, way more fun, and infinitely more heart stealing than all the glitz and glamour of Vegas. There isn’t a second that Luke isn’t trying to do what’s best for Kate, even when he’s lying through his teeth, and I’m not gonna lie when he blows up at Mason because what he’s asking interferes with what’s right for Kate, so gone for him. Just a solid great read that offers the dangers of the mafia and charm of a small town vibe.
📚📚📚 Oh LUKE!! Lets me just tell you Luke and Kate are ugh so perfect together! I absolutely ate up this book! When Luke and Kate get caught up in a bad situation, Kate saves him. But truly who saves who in this one because they both really do. They end up running and going into hiding together while all the fun and wild things unfold. This book will bring you on a ride and at points I was gasping on the edge of my seat. The ending ugh I was so happy they got their ending together. Be ready because Luke has one beautiful and hot mouth 🥵 The spice was done perfectly. I can’t wait for the last book in this series!!

Thank you so much for sending me a copy for an honest review in my own words. #giftedcopy
Great series - I've enjoyed all five of these books. Mason had the first book and I find it really interesting how he has become so difficult for the other MMCs to deal with. Each character is very different,
“Mason and Roman are the brains. Leo is the fire. My uncle Jake is the man who keeps us all safe. And me. I’m a good time. They cut me in because I’m family. Because I was in their circle, but I don’t bring much to the table.”
I appreciate that this MMC has some sort of neuro divergence or dyslexia. It becomes increasingly clear he's in the wrong line of work. It also explains their disorganization around safe sex. (Why didn't he pick up condoms when he went to Walmart the first time)?
I liked that both MCs re-evaluate their paths in life and make changes.
I also really like how these guys are not organized crime, but they are just adjacent to it. They're working on being totally legal and changing the trajectory from being gangsters like their dads.
And even though the MMC is not “the brightest bulb”, I love this comment from the MFC about his family,
“If I were to guess, they think about you the way I do. There isn’t anyone I’d rather have by my side when trouble comes knocking.”
Being smart is often over rated and the author does a great job with this MMC showing exactly how.
If you haven’t started Ms. Andresen’s “The Lords of Las Vegas Series”, I highly recommend it and truly suggest you read them in order. King of Pain picks up right where King of Ruin, book 4 ends. Luke Kincade has been shot and kidnapped by his family's worst enemy while Kate, a med student, is trying to survive the date from hell without getting shot or worse. Now she is thrown in a room with Luke and told to patch him up. Kate is scared and Luke promises to get her out of this mess and protect her. Skeptical, she goes along with his plan. Now they are on the run while the world thinks Luke is dead.
While Kate and Luke have a mutual attraction, when it comes right down to it, will Luke protect his family, the ones that took him in and gave him everything or will he fight for the woman he is slowly falling for. This is an excellent addition to the series, IMHO.
Book 5 to the Lords of Las Vegas series by Tammy Andresen! Who knew that I would love this series the way I do. Each book has its own uniqueness, but they just keep getting better and better.
This story is packed with such emotion and some unexpected twists. Fans of this series will again adore this compelling read! If you have not started this series, I do highly recommend it. I am not one that is drawn to this genre. I was asked by a friend to read the first of the series for my honest opinion with an ARC. I am now looking forward to every new story line. This story picks right up where King of Ruin left off, so I do recommend reading them in order! This is the story of Luke and Kate. This author has a great ability to write engaging, full of depth, characters. I am vested in all of them. Also, this one I finished in a day! Thank you for the opportunity to read yet another book to this series as an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This whole series has everything you can imagine! I’m a huge fan of the very talented author, Tammy Andersen and have read many, many of her historical romance books. I’m so glad I ventured into this series she has written. She’s amazingly talented! Each book is unique while tying it all together. I couldn’t wait for this book to be released! When I received my alert the book was in, I of course began reading right away. I completely fell in love with both Kate and Luke. Naturally I couldn’t stop until I finished! It was everything I wanted in the story. I know there’s one more but I’m hoping Tammy writes another book bringing the Kincaid family together for a family reunion in order to please, please give your readers an update on where everyone stands and what has happened to each couple! I would absolutely love it and I’m sure I’m not the only one! PLEASE CONSIDER
Gotta be honest, it took me a minute to get into the story because I didn't remember what happened in the previous book. Once it kind of clicked in I was able to enjoy it better. Luke falls hard and fast for sweet Kate. The way she begs him to not leave her behind, his heart cracks for her even though he doesn't admit it right away. I loved all the nicknames he had for her. Their little slice of domestic bliss was so good, while short lived. I hate that he played with her future after she worked so hard, but he did feel bad about it. He needed to grovel more but then we were thrust into a day time soap story line (aka: memory loss).
I did not like Mason in this book at all. They way he put money before his family was unacceptable. I am so glad Charlotte didn't give a shit and supported the family and their happiness, whatever that meant for them. I went back and looked at my review for Mason's book and realized I didn't like him then either.
I think I must write the first part of my review for each book in the series. They are wonderful. For a non-Contemporary book reader, I could not put them down. I finished the whole series of 6 books in less than a week. It was like reading a continuation of a story. I read one book, which had me reading the next. I enjoyed how each book had all the Kincaid men in each of them. I will say, every time I read one, I thought that couple was my favorite. I have decided they are all my favorite, just in different ways. But one thing about the Kincaid men, when they fall in love the fall hard. This book is about Luke who is the cousin of the Kincaid children in the previous books. The younger of the siblings grew up in Luke’s mother’s house so they are as close as brothers and sisters. Luke always feels like he is the least important of all of them, but he is not. When Kate needed him, he helped her and did not leave her behind.
This one kicked off with a bang—literally. Luke gets shot and tossed into the trunk of a car (hell of a first line), while Kate ends up kidnapped alongside him. What unfolds is a surprisingly fun, chemistry-packed romance on the run. Their banter absolutely makes the book, and I loved how Kate doesn’t take any of Luke’s crap—she treats him like a man, not just a Kincaid heir, and that’s exactly why he can’t help falling for her.
I’ll be honest, the covers of this series are atrocious, but this installment was way more engaging than King of Ruin despite being shorter. Roman once again looms large, pulling strings and making everyone bristle under his control. The family is splintering, and it feels like the women—Kate here, and likely their sister in the finale—are the only ones strong enough to whip all these alpha men into line. Honestly, I’m excited to see the payoff in the last book.
Luke had no clue where they were being kept. All he knew is that he had to get back to his family and save the girl who was kidnapped with him before she was assaulted.
With a concussion and no weapons, it was going to be tricky, but he's been in worse situations. Hopefully, hope was on their side.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This series should be read in order as the characters and background theme are recurring. How Luke and Kate found themselves in this situation is in the previous book, King of Ruin.
This book is action-packed and full of danger as Luke and Kate escape their kidnappers. One determined to have Kate, but both determined to use Luke as bait for his family to stop their billion-dollar underground tunnel system.
If you like steamy hot mafia romance, you will love this series. Highly recommend Tammy Andresen!
Luke and Kate find themselves in a world of trouble. Luke is kidnapped by his enemies, and they command Kate to treat his wounds. They want him as a bargaining chip, so they do not want him to die.
Kate was there because she chose to go out on a date with the wrong guy. Luke being kidnapped might be what saved her from a grim fate. As she treated Luke’s wounds, the two plotted escape.
Luke and Kate were running for their lives, but that did not stop them from falling in love. However, Luke had secrets that might kill that love. Would he choose his family, or would he protect the woman he loved? To find the answer, you would want to read this entertaining romantic suspense. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book in this series.
From the very beginning you have to keep up. This book starts at the beginning of book 4. We saw Romans story now we get Luke’s story of the shootout and what happened to him!
Kim has been in Vegas a whole 3 days. And she has made some poor choices. Luke can’t seem to get anything right. So now they have to save each other. And their chemistry…… instant.
I loved how they were so intimate whilst never given by details about themselves until they finally snapped. The spice was HOT, they combusted at least 273939 times. 4/5 chilis
The plot twist at the end just proves they were always meant for each other. The feelers cannot be denied.
Ending wasn’t a full ending because it begins the final book 6….. so You have to keep going.

I agree with others, the last two chapters seem to have been rushed through the editing process to wrap everything up. Kate was a lot, but I have also met dumb smart people, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I wasn't a super big fan of solving every disagreement by falling into bed (or the river as it was), but it was some good spice. I think it followed the correct timeline for the Roman and Maddie story but there might have been plot holes.
The first time I started Lord of Las Vegas, I started with Roman's story and then went back and read Books 1-3, so I am deeply confused where all of Mason's dickhead behavior is coming from. Hopefully we get everything sorted in Arabella's book. We haven't heard much about her other than being the baby sister of the family. I do enjoy the length on these books, I can eat them up as a nice little weekend treat.
