I received an ARC through "Severn River" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with the entire Longwing team was sent on a mission to Iran where they were to take out Malek, a terrorist, that in the previous book attempted to steal a nuclear weapon. In this instance, Worthy was assigned to the other team while Hass from the other team was with Rivers group now.The reason being that someone needed to be able to call in an airstrike and River's group did not have anyone, while Griffin's team had two so Hass and Worth switched. The two teams were in separate B2's and were to make high altitude jumps into Iran. The B2 Worthy was in was hit by a missile and it was thought that there were no survivors. River's team all made the jump and proceeded to the assigned location. Rivers along with Reilly and Hass went to the location where Griffins was assigned, while Cancer and Ian went to their assigned location. Rivers on arriving left Reilly and Hass while he went to locate any survivors from the B2 that was shot down. He was able to find Worthy and the entire team regrouped at the Griffin location.

Read along as the team of six now attempted to complete their mission to attack Malek. Discover all of the situations that happened on the Trek to Malek's location. Learn of the danger that David and the rest had to endure to accomplish it. Find out what events happened and they were going to their extraction location.

The ending is one that you really don't want to miss! As the is the last story in the series, it definitely is well worth your read.

The Slow Goodbye
It is sad to know this is Kasper’s last thriller in the Shadow Strike Series, yet there are rumors of what’s to come. Having read all the books in this series makes Final Strike feel like a homecoming. However please note for first time readers, you will not get lost in this thriller because of the way Kasper blends snippets of the previous books into this one. Project Longwing comes full circle with one last threat for the balance of power to be eliminated, or possibly two. Conspiracy, infiltration, brainwashing, betrayal, narcissism, rogue runners, death, murder, betrayal (yes, I’m saying it twice on purpose), annihilation, massive AI beyond belief, WMD, medical emergencies in the field, sabotage, good and bad luck, burial, passing of the knife…to name some aspects of this thriller. Kasper does not disappoint. BTW, I have never liked Mayfly! The exchange between two people at the very end leaves one to expect more to come; only time will tell. Enjoy!!

Book Review — Final Strike — Jason Kasper
From the very first chapter, “Final Strike”, the last book in the 10 book Shadow Strike series, pulls readers into the all-or-nothing world of elite covert operations.

Action thriller author Jason Kasper delivers a stunning finale that perfectly caps his Shadow Strike series — a high-octane, emotionally charged mission where everything is on the line.

The story follows main character David Rivers and his covert ops team as they embark on a final operation deep inside Iran — a mission meant to close one chapter of their lives, but instead pushes them further than ever before.

The result is an action thriller that’s equal parts high adrenaline and surmountable heart.

Kasper drives the story forward with breathtaking intensity. Every chapter brims with tension, yet never feels rushed. Even in moments of calm, the weight of the mission and the bonds between the team hold the reader’s attention.

As usual in all his stories, Kasper’s own experience as a former Army Ranger gives the novel a level of realism rarely found in other military thrillers.

The tactics, weaponry, and combat decisions feel genuine — immersive without ever getting bogged down in unexplained military jargon.

Amid the explosions and gunfire, Kasper narrates themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and brotherhood. These characters aren’t just “badass” special ops operators — they’re human beings carrying the scars and weight of their missions, both visible and unseen.

Final Strike delivers a sense of closure for the Shadow Strike series. It honors the journey that began in earlier books, tying up threads in a way that’s both satisfying and true to the characters’ arcs.

It is a must-read for action thriller fans of military thrillers. It’s the kind of read that keeps you turning pages long past bedtime — not just for the action, but because you genuinely care about what happens to the characters in the story.

The blend of authenticity, emotion, and expertly crafted suspense sets Kasper apart from others in the thriller genre.

Jason Kasper proves once again why he’s one of the most compelling writers in military action fiction.

Final Strike was a powerful and unforgettable conclusion to an outstanding series.

Man, oh man.....I was not prepared.

I thought I would be, but I realized that I was not.

So, when you think about it, it makes sense that with a title called Final Strike, that this was going to be the end of the series...right? But the problem is, I didn't think about the title and honestly went into this somewhat blind. In fact, as a long time series reader, as I was reading this book, I realized that a couple of things were not connecting. It wasn't until I was over halfway through the book that I went and checked and realized that I had not read the book right before this. I read the first 8, but somehow missed book 9. "That's okay", I thought "I'll read it after..."

Now, I'm not sure I can.

Honestly, this was a wonderful series. The character development that we got to witness from this motley group of guys. To see where they ended up, from where they started....amazing.

This storyline is a continuation of the previous book and has the team going in for one last mission before Project Longwing is disbanded. They need to "take care" of Soren Malik, one of America's most wanted. There is a CRAZY plan to parachute into Iran to locate and mark Malik's location for a drone strike.

Unfortunately, things go wrong from the beginning, and the rest of the book is a full speed, action packed drama, filled with tension, angst and overall craziness. This was a wonderful (and awful) conclusion for the series. Even though I was blindsided, I can see how it fully closes the loop for the series. I also liked how there was a small opening left for a possible future spin off.

Great job Mr. Kasper.

The end of an era

First, let me be clear: I hate endings of all kinds, and this series is only one of them. Still, knowing that this book is the end of it makes me sad, after so many years of reading one of the author’s books’ featuring David Rivers as the main character, following first his descent into the mercenary world, then his missions as a CIA operative. And seeing Jason Kasper’s writing skills, already immense, grow with each book of each series.

So yes, for whoever has read his books from the start of the American Mercenary series, this is the end of an era.

And what an end this was! Packed with action and the banter we got used to from these guys since their very first mission, packed with gut-wrenching scenes of absolute realism, and filled with everything that makes Kasper’s writing so unique.

I will miss receiving the latest David Rivers, that’s for sure. But the series got an absolutely brilliant send-off, one that I will not soon forget.

They say all good things come to an end, and such it is with the Shadow Strike series. While the team understands this is their final mission together, things go awry from day 1 as usual. Kasper paints the plot with detailed descriptions of the near impossible scenarios where the guys will have to use every skill they've honed over their time together to reach the goalpost and come back home in one piece. Add in more off-the-book objectives, combined with an improbable rescue, you have yourself another stand out book in the series.

Without giving away too much, there is a finality at the end that some may have a hard time understanding. With it, Kasper shows without a doubt he's ready to move on to whatever is next in his writing career.

Highly recommended along with the first nine books in the series. If you're just starting this series, I'd recommend going in order, and saving this classic for last for the best experience.

The latest instalment in David Rivers' American Mercenaries series opens with a bang as a team of CIA operatives parachutes into Iran's arid Khorasan province. Their mission? To hunt down and eliminate the terrorist Soren Malek, who previously stole a nuclear warhead from Pakistan. The mission is compromised when one of two B-2 stealth bombers is shot down, cutting the team in half.
What follows is a relentless, non-stop action thriller as David Rivers and his remaining team members scour Khorasan to track down Malek. This book is a fast-paced spy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its engrossing plot and a shocking twist ending you won't see coming.
Thank you, Edelweiss, for sharing a copy of this book for review. The opinions expressed herein are my own.

Before the team’s final mission, we get glimpses of their last break before they leave. It’s definitely set up as the final installation in this series as we see the team members interact with people around them before they try to track down and end Soren Malek. The best part about Final Strike is the camaraderie, loyalty, and absolute dedication the teams have to each other. It’s a true bond that surpasses any government or country ties and that really shines throughout. Extremely well-written, fast-paced, Murphy’s Law is in full affect, and the team continues pressing forward with their objective in spite of all of the roadblocks. I want to say so much more about the contents, but that would be way to spoilery for the final book. Excellent read.

The last in the Shadow Strike franchise, I wish I could give it 5 stars. But it just doesn't live up to previous entries in the series. That said, while the story really stretches the bounds of reality, it is a fitting end to David's and the gang's saga. I won't spoil it but will say I did not see the ending until it happened, no suspicion, inkling, or foresight, just boom it happens. I feel that you really should read the entire series, in order to appreciate the entire story of the Longwing Group and travel with them on their journey to save the world. When you get to Final Strike, You will definitely think, "wow" when the enemy is finally revealed. Jason Kasper hit a grand slam with entire Shadow Strike series.

In the final installment of the series, David Rivers and his team HAHO into Iran to kill a terrorist that got away in the last book. The Shadow Strike series is a page turner and sleep depriver. Great plot, amazing cast of characters, and a whole lot of action. The ending was the way I expected it to conclude, but I can see another Jason Kasper series in the future...Langley?

I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. This is the final book in this excellent series. The action is believable and almost non stop. There are great characters that have been developed in previous books. This series must be read in order to get the full story of what these characters have been through. It is a great series with most of the main characters in ten books. I can’t recommend this series enough. It keeps you reading and wanting more. I will be looking forward to reading anything from this author.

The best thriller ever!

Jason Kasper has written a superlative novel. Impossible to say any thing descriptive about it without giving away tremendous spoilers.
Read the series AND don't miss this one. They are all excellent, top drawer stories of courage, danger, and thrilling intrigue. I loved them all - especially this last one!
If any thriller gripped me more, I can't remember it.

Powerful!

What a finale! I have really enjoyed the David Rivers stories from the American Mercenary books and then the Shadow Strike series. This finale had an emotional impact that I didn’t expect, and made me realize how much the characters had permeated my (fiction reading) life. Thank you, Jason Kasper, for creating a wonderful and surprisingly deep world we could peer into for so many years.

The final book in the series was a rollercoaster, like each book has been, but this one even more so.
Though I liked overall how the series was tied up, I'm also just gutted it had to end that way. An emotional ride that has left me with a book hangover!
I loved the very end, the chapter from an unexpected POV, making me wonder what could potentially come next. A spin off, maybe? I look forward to finding out.

We are not very happy with you Jason!!! We told you we didn’t want ANY of the guys to die!!!!! Yet you just had to do it. Shame on you. You have insured that the series definitely won’t go on in the same vein, but now we want to see how all the guys fare going forward! And what will Langley do? The story is pretty good and has action. Now we want follow up stories!!!

good ending to a great series

These books are unique because of the cast of characters and the interaction between them. The plots and action are a little far fetched but so it goes with any thriller.
I’ll miss this series.

Never Would Have Guessed the Ending! It was not at all expected, but some common sense should have clued me to what was coming. At least I had the team members tagged. Although it was a ways back, think a little more detail might have been included about his knife. Anyway, great story, and, it sent several good lessons. VR, Mags,

David Rivers wants to do one more mission before he retires. The CIA sends 2 teams into Iran to hunt for the terrorist Malek. One of the planes with a team on gets shot down and only one member is able to do a jump. This novel has a lot of action and always outnumbered. A page turning thriller.
