This story started off with such promise. Yet, between all of the errors and ridiculous scenarios, I spent a good amount of time like this:
I hate to be negative and overly-critical. I know that authors work hard to turn their ideas into books. I don't meant to be harsh in any way, but I must admit that the poor editing truly detracted from what could have been a very enjoyable story. Considering this is a short story, it took a while to complete because I had to re-read several sentences and try to make sense of what the author was saying. Also, there were many inconsistencies that I found incredibly frustrating.
It's a real shame, too, because the story has so much potential. I hope that the author will work on perfecting and re-publishing it.
Hazed and Chained tells the story of a teen-aged girl who is abducted and chained within a basement. Early on, we are told why she is there and who is responsible for her capture. There is no real mystery regarding her imprisonment and no great reveal until the very end when we learn that things are not at all as they have appeared.
It's hard to say whether the author purposefully intended certain outrageous and unrealistic events in light of the the new development at the end. But without that knowledge (which can't properly be disclosed beforehand) I experienced plenty of "Are you kidding me?" moments that made me dislike practically all of the characters (yes, every single one of them)! If you read this book, I know you'll discover what I'm talking about.
All in all, I certainly didn't hate this book, but found it disappointing. Like badly tarnished silver, it needs a lot of polishing in order to shine.
I started reading and it seemed like it would be your typical girl gets teased in school and seeks revenge type story.
Boy was I wrong! Getting farther into the book I realized that it wasn't your typical story and it had some twists and turns along the way. I then get to the end and have the WTF moment and actually have to re-read the last couple of chapters to see if I can understand what just happened but no, I am still left with WTF?!?!? And feeling like this:
It's definitely now how I expected it to end and I'm still trying to wrap my head around what actually happened and took place. I am curious to find out more and hope there is a second book explaining what took place in the first book because I feel like this:
I normally do not review anything that falls below three stars, but found this book to be an exception. At the beginning of the book, you knew what you were getting. A young girl was kidnapped and tortured at the hands of a sadistic man seeking retribution for the hazing of his daughter. It started out as a quick read and remained so throughout the book. That was the good part. As you continue reading the story, you find many of the chapters to be a bit repetitive. From a technical standpoint, I was bothered by the constant use of the words girth and sex to describe someone's body parts as there are more creative ways to get the point across. I also was not a fan of how everything was written in the present tense even when describing events of the past making them seem like they were happening at that moment instead of the character thinking about it. Finally I reached the end of the book to find twist ending that changes the whole plot of the book. I am typically a fan of plot twists or twist endings, but found this one to be poorly chosen as it was left without any real explanation. I was deeply disappointed by the book and think the author could have done a much better job with the story if the technical errors were fixed and prepared the reader for a twist ending.
It's definitely now how i expected it to end I wish that I read it. Reading beautiful poses For me moves more then listening to those words The book is so amazing it's very good stories i have learnt i really enjoyed while reading this book it's really awesome 🤩🤩
A solid read with a few minor flaws. The characters were likable, and the overall plot was engaging, but there were moments where the pacing felt uneven. Despite this, the story had enough emotional depth to keep me invested until the end.
I absolutely loved this book it was everything I hoped it would be. It took me on a journey into the deeper darker psyche of the characters. Hazed and Chained is a gritty dark thriller ride of suspense, excitement and nerves. I thought it was fabulously written and really drew me into its world. While reading I generally link music to the story I'm reading which enhances the experience ,however with this book I linked movies and the emotions certain movies had provoked when I would watch them. Hazed and Chained had me linking it to some of my favourite movies from the late 90's ,with the likes of teen slasher genre, Scream, Cherry Falls, Final Destination, Joyride, Urban Legend, Wrong Turn and I Know What You did Last Summer all in that category. If you were a lover of these then you will love Hazed and Chained, in my opinion this book could definitely be made into a big screen adaptation. It has edge of your seat drama and suspense and while leading you down one route will perform a total 180 and carry you off in another direction. With an ending that will blow you away. I love a book that makes me take to the story so much I begin to form questions in my head while reading and boy oh boy did this do it for me, a total mind screw over and I loved it.
Stephanie is the all American girl and head cheerleader , dating the Football star and with her wolf pack of bitches that like to look down their noses at others. She instigates a terrible event one night against the outsider Agnes, this leads to a thirst for revenge by Agnes father. Stephanie is kidnapped and held hostage in a basement where she is forced to repent for her heinous crime. Can she find redemption or will she succumb to her demons and lose herself to the demons?

3.5 stars for a complete mind blower...that is not what it seems. I am almost afraid to review this book because to say too much would give away the big twist at the end and to say too little might not warn potential sensitive readers as to what they can expect. This is not a pretty story, nor is it a romance but pretty much a very dark and demented story of revenge and fantasy wish fulfillment. Think "mean girls" but with a nasty and sadistic unhappy surprise ending. Stephanie, a snooty cheerleader finds herself kidnapped and at the mercy of a sleazy man who is holding her for reasons she doesn't yet understand. As the action unfolds, it is clear she is in the hands of a lunatic and is subjected to all kinds of horrors and mistreatment. When we find out the WHO and the WHY etc. it all becomes crystal clear what is happening...but things are just not what they seem to be. There were times the descriptions in this novel were really gross, upsetting and just icky to read...and then it really veers into crazy town at the second to last chapter. BUT...that ending...whoa...it explains a lot and makes you want to go back and revisit a bit. Now it all makes sense and is quite a brilliant, although not completely original plot device. It was 99 cents when I got it and would recommend to those who like a lot of kink with their revenge stories.
A killer of a thrill ride, it will leave your head tumbling and tripping for days. If you're looking for a romance.. move on. This is a intense look on vengeance and a loyal family's extreme justice to the wrong's done to them.
Holy High School Drama! The story brings a whole new look on Mean Girls and their Cliques. I'm hoping the author brings awareness to High School bullies and what goes on behind school doors. The characters were described in detail and I connected to each one, the story was intense, brutal, fast paced and kept my attention til the end.
The brutal and vicious crimes done to Agnes Bumgarner will forever scar her inside and eventually alters her thoughts, looks and dreams. This horrible deed will impact her mind and stain her psyche and she thrives for vengeance. While I understand Ray's vendetta, his mind is warped and it consumes him. His acts become more brutal and atrocious as his visions are clouded at the crimes done to his daughter. At times you see his softer side as he remembers his first love and happy married life as together they raised their one and only child.
The ending will leave you wondering WTF and at once you'll be returning to the beginning, where it all started... or did it?
This is my kind of twisted read. It is different of what I've read and I love ir for it. I'm not fond of stories that are narrated since they don't make sense and cut the flow of the story. However, this book was narrated and it flowed easily. The story is heartbreaking in so many ways that all the chracters have likable moments. I won't lie, it took me a while to read, the scenes are descriptive enough that the picture in my head was't good at all. That's what makes a good book for me. To be able to see and feel what the characters are going through is amazing and that happened with this book.
There is Agnes/Raven, Ray, Helen, Stephanie, Billy, Melody, Brianna and Raine as the main characters. The way their stories ger together and how they develop is great (considering there's a narrator). All I can say is that I get why some characters act the way they do, although I don't condone it.
I think this book shows bullies at their worst and the consequences of bullying and being bullied. Love the book, and the ending was wow, WTF was what I thought when I got to it.
If you like suspense, drama and intense emotional ups and downs, you will want to read this book.
From the beginning of the book I was hooked. The look into the character's psyche is so vivid you feel like you're right there with the girl. As I got farther into the book it got more intense and you are taken on one physiological thrill ride. Then, just when you think you've gotten it figured out, the author throws you for a loop leaving you sitting in your chair thinking, "What just happened here?".
You need to get this book and read it. You won't regret it.
This was an okay book. It was easy to follow but due to some simple grammar errors and name switches it was difficult. The sex scenes were very...non descriptive and could have been better written. Otherwise an okay book. I'd recommend it to certain friends but not to everyone.
this book was a wonderful crazy wild read. I loved every minute of it. Im not all that great at writing reviews, but I have to tell you I loved this book. I have read Raine Storm's other book, WildCat and cant wait to read his newest, Campus Cutie. Do yourself a favor and pick up these books.
All I can say is WOW! Total mind f**k book!! I did enjoy this book but I am still confused about it and trying to work it out! Good read Raine Storm!! Well done!
