I may not be a veteran or a part of the medical community, but I wish I could live on Serenity Mountain! Every time I read one of Cassie’s books I feel like I’m spending time with my friends! The introduction of Ryder into the group opens up a world of possibilities. I can’t wait to see what other stories come from Serenity Mountain. Ryder’s story will bring out all the emotions. I laughed and cried. I was angry at both Ryder and Claire and their stubbornness. I was touched by how everyone on Serenity Mountain takes care of each other. A must read!

I wasn't sure what to expect from Rescuing Ryder. Cassie has a way of making you feel so deeply for these characters. We know the men and women who serve our country go through so much, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The Serenity Mountain "Rescue" is such an amazing concept.

I enjoyed watching Claire's strength and knowledge as she helps others to recover from trauma. But we can't be strong all the time, and sometimes, we hold ourselves to an unrealistic standard. As intelligent as Claire is, there is a lot she is oblivious to, which is very dangerous. This book shows that even when you have the training and the tools, sometimes trauma can really mess with your mind.

Ryder has always been able to fix things, and it is difficult when you feel like a failure. The fact that he is so strong but doesn't see he is worthy of a good life and he is capable of so much it is upsetting to witness. But given the write motivations, people can make the choice to save themselves. I loved how he consulted his best friend Gunner throughout the book.

This book was emotionally charged and full of suspense. Every time I expected resolution, there was another curveball. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of this new series, Serenity Securities. I will definitely have to catch up on the Serenity Mountain series since so many of those characters bleed over.

Outstanding:
This book was amazing from beginning to end. It seemed to flow effortlessly and there were was the perfect mix of action, suspense, emotion and romance. I fell in love with both Ryder and Claire and thought they were perfect for one another.
Although this book represents the start of a new spinoff series and can be read as a standalone, a lot of characters appeared from previous books which did make me feel as if I was missing out a bit as I hadn't read their stories. However this was still a fabulous read and I can't wait to read the upcoming books.

What an emotional story this was. Both Ryder and Claire had their own demons and fears to overcome.
At the end of his tether veteran, Ryder, reluctantly agreed to one last go at therapy following the loss of his team. He is intrigued by Claire’s way of working in her role as head psychiatrist. With the whole team on the mountain rooting for him and including Claire as one of their family they deserved their HEA. It was a difficult journey for them both and just when I was expecting their happy ending another issue arose.
A great story which covered the difficult subject of PTSD, depression and the like for not only veterans but also issues with teenagers with sensitivity and tact.

A good start to a new series. Nice to see Claire more and get to know her as she's been integral on Serenity Mountain ❤️ Ryder is troubled, but so is Claire, and together, they find family, hope and love in unexpected ways.

This is the first time I've read anything from this author. I love a good romantic suspense story that keeps me reading and guessing what is going to happen next. Plenty of action, some heat (it doesn't take away from the story), suspense and new beginnings and acceptance for Ryder. Excellent read. Ryder is ready to end it all because he cannot see a point in living when he is the reason his team and his best friend didn’t make it back from their final mission. Ryder still has people looking out for him and they know the situation is dire so they stage an intervention and try to get him to seek treatment one more time. Tex discovers Serenity Mountain and the doctors there are able to convince him to give it a try for 24 hours. When Ryder meets Dr. Claire, she challenges him in a way that makes him stay longer, what does he have to lose. As they gets to know each other, they grow closer. Claire's unconventional approach is working but Ryder doesn't think he deserves to be better. Unknown to anyone, Claire is dealing with a threat of her own. Just when Claire starts to dig deep into Ryder's issues, he retreats, and at the worst time.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first book written by Cassie Colten and it has characters from previous books but it Book one in a new series. Also it is multi POV instead of just dual which presented different angles on events within the book. Dr. Claire and Ryder form an unconventional paring, not just because of the taboo nature of a Dr/Patient relationship but they also don’t realized how much they have in common. They both seem to be determined to deal with their issues alone and not reach out for help even when they have a whole village of people at their backs. I loved the way all the characters worked together to help both Ryder and Claire. I love found family themes and this one is a great example. Great read, interesting twists and of course a HEA for Claire and Ryder that is worth reading.

This is the first book in the Serenity Securities, Team Hawk Series. This is also a book in the Susan Stoker Special forces Operation Alpha World so you see some character from her books. I read this as a complete stand alone with no issues.

Saving Ryder . . .

Haunted by guilt as he saw his entire unit die, Ryder "Patch" Hawkins is in a bad way. Fortunately his friends won’t let him spiral down any further. Two head out immediately to check on him face-to-face while another flies to a new medical facility out-of-state already proving to be very effective with their unusual treatment. He will have a hard time convincing Patch to try yet another medical facility since he has not made progress with any of the previous treatments. But for his friends who deeply and obviously care about him, Patch agrees to give it a try. Dr. Claire Meyers is not like any of the other doctors and her treatment is working, bringing him back to the strong and confident man he had been before. And it looks like there is a chance to repay what she has done to help him deal with his pain when a killer, David Kilner, who had brutally killed his wife and her mother, targets her. Murdering someone gives him a feeling of control over their life and death and there is nothing they can do about it. It becomes a thrill when he takes that life and watches them die without hope. And now he will take Claire as his “wife” and do the same to her. When Ryder knocked on the door, David would have shot him then, but Claire said she would make him go away. She kept insisting Ryder go to another doctor and would not discuss it further. So he left as she asked. But he felt something was wrong, a threat making her afraid. Will he figure it out? Can Ryder and his team get to her in time to save her? And will he have a future to look forward to at last?

Just like all of Cassie's other books this one has an emotionally charged action-packed storyline! She pulls you in right from the very beginning.
This book is the beginning of a new series which is a spinoff of the Serenity Mountain series. We get all the original characters from Serenity Mountain.
We meet Ryder in this book. Ryder is stubborn and thinks that he isn't worth saving and has nothing else to live for after everything he has dealt with during his time as a corpsman. I don't want to spoil all the details so I will leave it at that. His friend Tex is desperate to get him the help he deserves and turns to the Winters Foundation on Serenity. This is where Ryder meets Clair and there is something about the woman who has decided that he has made up his mind and they can't help him. He wants to prove her wrong. She gives him choices and challenges him.
Clair doesn't think she fits in with everyone else on Serenity, she has her own secrets and doesn't want to burden everyone else even though she needs their help. Ryder notices the little things and how she seems scared at times, he goes into protector mode.
I loved their story and all the twists and turns. If you love Romantic suspense, found family, and military romance then go grab this book.

This book is a spin-off of the Serenity Mountain Series and a first in a new series. So, you can read this as a starting point but in my opinion, it is best to start with the Serenity Mountain series so that you don't feel like you are missing information or pieces of the other characters.

This is book 1 in the new Serenity Securities, Team Hawk series. Let me tell you how much I am HERE for this series!

First off, if you haven't read the Serenity Mountain series, you need to. Don't talk back, just go get it and read them all.

Second, Ryder/Patch speaks my love language before he even knows what a love language is. We meet Patch when he is at his lowest point in his life. His plan is foiled by his friend, Tex. Tex has been searching for a facility that can get through to Patch and help him come out on the other side. He hopes the Winters Foundation is that place. Patch comes to meet the Foundation/hospital staff and one of his demands to stay is to be called by his given name instead of his call name. Will he be able to slay his demons?

If you have read the Serenity Mountain series, you are already familiar with the setting and the sub-characters. I loved meeting Ryder and getting more acquainted with Claire. Reading about Ryders growth is so inspirational and more real and raw that the timeline reflects months instead of days or hours for his different breakthroughs.

I will recommend this book and series to all.

Be sure to read the trigger warnings on this book/series before you start, as your mental health is most important.

Ryder is drowning in grief from losing his unit to the point that he's ready to call it quits on life, and man I could feel his pain intensely. Luckily, he has friends who care about what happens to him, so somehow they get him out to the Winters Foundation Hospital on Serenity Mountain for help. Now Ryder isn't ready to do the work for help, nope, he's just there to get them off his back but it's the best thing that happened to him. Claire has her own past who is trying to make a dangerous appearance, but she's not telling her friends what is going on. She's counseling Ryder, and she figures out she has to do unconventional things to get through to him, and they slowly bond. He's drawn to her and she is to him, but she's the one fighting it since she's his counselor. Of course, her past is coming back with a vengeance, and they're going to not only help Ryder move on from his past, but keep her alive because of hers. This story had heat, emotion, suspense with tons of twists coming in hot, and that great supporting cast that had me smiling a ton. You seriously can't go wrong with Cassie Colton, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Rescuing Rider is fascinating and intense. I loved the storyline and the diverse group of characters on Serenity Mountain. Ryder’s struggles with PTSD are heartbreaking, deep, real, and shine a light on the affects war can have on our veterans. I connected strongly with his character from the get-go. Claire is a brilliant doctor with a gorgeous heart who is experience her own intense traumas. She is so very good at her job, but she pushes personal connections away and keeps people in the dark about her own life, and I feel like the why of that ingrained behavior is the piece of her character that we are missing. Some of her choices and actions were not confluent in her interactions either Ryder, leaving me wondering why she was behaving in such a manner. I also felt Iike the author was repetitive on a regular basis, which for me hindered the fluidity of the story. This dynamic novel had some unexpected plot twists, and I genuinely would like to get to know the other characters better.

This is my first book from this author but won’t be my last. This is Ryder story of healing. Ryder is a former solider who can’t go on because he was the only one save from his unit. His call sign is Patch and people referring to him by that name continue to bring up the bad memories of how he could not “patch” his unit to save anyone. Tex is so worried about his friend that he finds a clinic in Serenity hoping they can heal his friend. Ryder agrees to doctor Claire unorthodox therapy for him. Claire realizes he needs to be able to take back his ability to make choice. Claire is all thumbs and has a new house so during therapy she puts Ryder to work building things. Claire gets Ryder to have his first breakthrough and he chooses to Canute doctors. Ryder and Claire become close as he takes care of her as her past come back to end her. Little does Ryder and their friends know that they have more to save her from than they thought.

Holy cow was this story outstanding!! I couldn’t put this book down. I was sucked in from the beginning. Ryder and Claire both had their own emotional baggage that they carried and wanted to shield it from anyone and everyone that they knew. For Ryder that wasn’t the case when it came to his friends. They pushed him to get him to forgive himself. Ryder also know as Patch didn’t want to be called that anymore, deciding to get his friends office back he went to the vet hospital on serenity Mountain. Ryder felt like all hospitals were the same all they want to do is pump you with medicine. Boy was he wrong when he comes face to face with the one woman he makes him see his life differently Claire. When the past comes knocking on Claires door, she tries to do anything and everything to take care of it by herself. Does Ryder turns Claires words against her? Does Claire help Ryder forgive his past? Does Ryder in turn help Claire? Definitely a 5 star book, I already can’t wait for more.

Having watched his unit and best friend die in front of him Patch/Ryder is broken and has lost the will to continue. Persuaded to go to a veteran facility on Serenity Mountain, he finds himself challenged by Dr Claire Meyers, a woman that pushes him to achieve more than he ever thought possible and creates feelings he feels he doesn't deserve. Despite their issues when a killer decides to target Claire, Ryder realizes that he will stop at nothing to protect her and fulfil his best friend's last words to live a life worthy of his brothers. Heartbreaking and beautiful this book shows the harsh reality many veterans find themselves in and the men and women determined to show them that life is worth fighting for. With suspense, drama and witty moments throughout and a touch of spice, you will find yourself on a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved this book and want to read more by this author who is new to me.

Packed with all the emotions!

This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last!

Ryder "Patch" Hawkins suffers from PTDS and with the help of his friends he decided to give Winters Foundation Hospital on Serenity Mountains a chance to help him recover.

Dr. Claire Meyers, one of the psychologists working at Winters Foundation Hospital has been placed with Ryder.

Let me tell you – in the beginning these two butted heads, pushed and pulled at each other – and then slowly the feelings started coming out! There was enough action, suspense, danger, romance to keep me turning those pages. Because in the end – Ryder wasn’t the only one that needing rescuing!

The only “downside” was the number of characters to keep track of and who was married to who and their kids. I realize that this is part of another “book world” – so that is really on me, not the author. In the end I got it all straight!

This is the first in a new series and this is Ryder / Patch and Claire’s story.
Ryder is drowning in guilt over the loss of his team, and is ready to end it all, until he reluctantly gets himself admitted into a hospital when specialises in veteran recoveries. Claire is a sassy psychologist, who uses unorthodox methods to get through to her patients. When Claire become the target of a dangerous man, Ryder is determined to keep her safe and protected.
This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster with guilt, loss, danger, suspense, intrigue, friendships, challenges, determination, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and thrilling, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This is Book 1 of Serenity Securities, Team Hawk starring Dr. Claire Meyers and Ryder "Patch" Hawkins. WOW what a powerful story with some PTSD triggers and a lot of pain and hurt coming from both characters. I loved the family side of the story, these men and women of military services all come together to help where others not been able to help them heal and they formed a close family connection was heart warming and a wonderful story. I jumped for joy when all the bad guys are gone and melted at the love and growth theses two characters have gone through in this story and hope the next one is just as much a page turner as this one was.

Another great Cassie Colton

This is another fantastic book by Cassie Colton that I couldn't stop reading! I just had to find out what happens next. Ryder and Clair's story has everything you could want: suspense, laughter, tears, joy, and of course, love. You definitely need to check it out! "Rescuing Ryder" is Cassie Colton's first book in Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha World series. Key characters like Caroline, Wolf, and especially Tex help Ryder escape his deep sadness. It's Claire’s challenge that brings him to Serenity Mountain, where he begins to heal. However, Claire is in danger from a dangerous person, and they both need to learn to trust each other and rely on the support of the Serenity Mountain community to face the threats around them.

An emotional and realistic journey for Ryder and Claire. Ryder was a corpsman and lost his entire team. He is suffering from survivors guilt and is ready to end his life. Tex has been reaching out and Ryder is getting worse. He finds the Winter's Foundation and checks it out for Ryder. Ryder decides to check the place out to placate Tex and his friends and doesn't expect it to help him at all. He meets Claire the head psychiatrist and she uses outside the box methods to help him. She finds herself in danger and doesn't tell anyone at first. Action, betrayal and love.

Very good

Ryder lost the men in his unit along with his best friend. He is done with life. Lucky for him that Tex is over Ryder's pity party and has found a place for him.
Ryder is at Serenity. He is still very angry and it doesn't help that Claire pushes him.
Claire has a stalker. She hasn't told anyone. When he comes after her, Ryder calls and Whiskey and Leo help him save her.
Ryder is back to being stubborn and is ready to run again. Claire is in trouble again and he will find her.
Will Ryder finally get his life in order and put him and Claire first? Will Ryder stay and become a team member again?

Rescuing Ryder is the 1st book in the Serenity Securities, Team Hawk series, but is a spin-off from another. All of the characters from those books have roles to play and there's a plethora of children and past events mentioned, which really felt a bit much at times when at the same time, there is no real intro to the team. Still, Ryder and Claire's romance is deeply emotional with heartache and heartbreak right along with uplifting and inspirational moments. The elements of suspense and danger kept my pulse rate up and I couldn't put the book down until the well-deserved HEA for the couple.

First book in the Serenity Securities, Team Hawk series that is a spin off from Serenity Mountain. The author pulls no punches in this emotional story of Ryder, a man haunted by the past and ready to give up. When a friend steps in he agrees to get help, he finds himself under the care of stubborn Dr. Claire Meyers at Serenity Mountain. When someone threatens her, Ryder and all rally. I always find my self wrapped up in Cassie’s story and this one was no different. Rawness, character growth, and suspense are balanced with humor, romance, and love. Wonderful.

I had to go back and read book 1 after reading book 2 first and floved seeing how Patch and Claire got together and it's and there are plenty of feels to go through leaving you with itchy eyes at times like when Patch has his flash backs along with a few other things (no spoilers!), but there is also fun and happy moments and some great romance and plenty of times that show some of the best families are made up of those who come into your life later on.

Cassie's first book in this world? No way! You won't think so. What a brilliant story she spins. You are stuck between wanting to smack Ryder & loving him. You want to pull the stick out of Claire yet soothe her. These two with their banter, snark, chemistry & guilt bring us on a roller-coaster ride. So much happening with so many fabulous characters. Romance & suspense done with Alpha protectors style so good! Read it! Honest review.

This is the story in the new "Serenity Securities" series but can be read as a stand alone read. It is an emotional, heart wrenching journey and and incredible story. The story is about Ryder/Patch and Claire. A man/Veteran on the verge of giving up and a doctor who changes his world. Their heartfelt journey includes suspense, tragedy, healing, love, action, second chances and new beginnings. It is really a great story!

Rescuing Ryder was such an emotional story from beginning to end and author Cassie Colton did an amazing job with the storytelling. I loved seeing Tex, Wolf and Ice incorporated into this story. Ryder’s story was gut wrenching and tore at my heart but the author did not disappoint and gave us his HEA with Claire who had her own journey. Great start to the Serenity Security series and looking forward to reading more books in the future.
