In the heart of Singsong City, a gnome-elven reporter keeps her head down so that her secret werewolf identity isn't revealed. But when the monster who infected her starts leaving behind a trail of dead or mutated girls, she'll need to face her past and put on her investigative reporter hat, however much it disturbs the local pack and her own peace of mind. With the help of an impossible ally, she must unravel the mysteries of her own past before they consume her future. Will she find a murderer and a happy ending, or will the monster under her skin devour everything she loves?
Werewolves Don't Howl is the sixth book in the Singsong City series. It is a standalone paranormal romantic comedy featuring elves, werewolves, witches, vampires, and adorable goblins. It is packed with puns, battles, and a sweet, slow burn romance between a secret elven assassin and the reporter who hates him. Also sushi.
Juliann wrote another excellent book! The FMC was strong, funny, and adorable, and the MMC loves her just the way she is. As always, Juliann did a great job balancing the "dark" with the "light" moments. Read this series, if you're a fan of urban romantic fantasy, and then dig into all her other books - you won't regret it!
I wanted more from Cross. But at the same time, as always with this series, the focus is on the heroine, and Delphi doesn't disappoint. I really appreciated her character growth. I think this series just continue to get better. (Even if for some reason Goodreads decided not to link the last two books to the actual series list?!)
Juliann Whicker is incredible at pulling you into her stories, and I'm in awe of her imagination. I absolutely love this series, and enjoyed this particular instalment so much! Keep writing, Juliann!
I liked it, even if this one wasn't my favorite in the series. Delphi’s growth was satisfying to follow, especially once she embraced the “triad” (a cool idea, BTW). I wasn’t really a fan of Cross having multiple personas/roles, and I feel like the “bad guys” were more apparent in this one than they usually are in her books. That said ***I’m glad I read this book and looking forward to the shenanigans we get up to in the next book!***
I have never heard of an elf-gnome-werewolf combination! It so works! I loved the story, the drama and the suspense but most of all I loved the romance.
The Singsong City is ULTRA formulaic. I like the formula, but it's NOT original from book-to-book. This writer has tropes she is dedicated to. She clearly is pro waiting for marriage, she likes ridiculousness and whimsy, and her heroes are obsessed with their heroines from day one in an extreme way - they are loyal and devoted to the core of their being. Not that I'm complaining - who doesn't like a fairytale level of devotion? The hero and heroine are always equally powerful, though different. In this series, there is a new couple every book.
I barely remember the hero from this one - it really didn't stick with me.
