Hands tied and freedom stolen, I'm back at the mercy of my tormentor. If I fail to comply, others will die. But this time, I'm not alone.
And I'm armed with a plan.
Under the guise of submission, I learn as much as I can about our enemies. They're far greater than we realized. Still, I know one thing they don't.
They're underestimating us.
If I can learn enough intel, we can take down GE from the inside. Yet the longer I'm with my tormentor, the more my own will slips away. Can I fight my way back in time to save the lives of those I hold dear? Or will I lose myself in the struggle to survive?
* Ramshackle is a full length why choose dark urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel that ends on a cliffhanger. It is book 3 of 5 in the Raegan of Ruin series that will be completed in 2025. If you like plot, banter, steam, a strong heroine, and multiple alpha-holes that you don't have to choose between, then this is for you. It is recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations.
A.L. Rook is an avid reader and has been dreaming of becoming an author since the first grade. She’s been thinking up and writing stories ever since. Her favorite stories are dark contemporary or fantasy romance with strong characters that leave a lasting impression. When not drinking exorbitant amounts of coffee while writing, she can be found reading, binge-watching various shows, or traveling.
As an ARC reader since the very first book in the *Raegan of Ruin* series, I can confidently say that *Ramshackle* is a standout installment that completely hooked me from the start. Each book has drawn me deeper into this captivating world, but this one truly took the cake!
Picking up right where the second book left off, the cliffhanger had me on the edge of my seat. I was so relieved to dive into this continuation—I honestly might have cried if I hadn’t been able to see how the story unfolded.
The tension is high as our heroine faces her tormentor again, but this time she's armed with a plan. The stakes are immense, and the dynamics between characters are as compelling as ever.
If you enjoy dark urban fantasy with a strong female lead, sharp banter, and multiple alpha-holes, Ramshackle is a must-read. Just be prepared for another cliffhanger that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment!
I can't wait to see how this series wraps up and it happens this year!!! 😱 I'll love it but sad it will be over.
I want to preface this by saying my least favorite books in these types of series are the books where our main character is captured. I can't think of one book I liked that had this as the main issue so it may be what brought this rating down for me. Her going back to Gordon to save the guys and Vera is very expected by her matyr behavior in the first two books, and of course it was inevitable because how else would we wrap up some of the harsher feelings with the guys. She has to prove that her love is true and that she is trustworthy, how do we do that? Get tortured and beaten by a psychopath obviously. I just think this wraps up some of my issues from the first two books too neatly. We have a magic wand of kidnapping and her secrets being revealed by Vera and all of a sudden on the annoying traits and behaviors vanish and she is intimate with all the guys and skips past everything. I get that as a plot device but it's like a different character showed up to this book and all of a sudden the growth I was BEGGING for from the first two books just shows up.
Aside from this time period in the book though everything seems to stall and the plot doesn't move all that much. We get relationships moving forward and sex with all the guys finally but this book three was kind of a slow go, which was one of my main complaints from the first two books as well. It wouldn't need to be a 5 part book if we got movement in the plot.
And onto our cliffhanger and the lead up to the next book....... it's her dad right? I mean her mother was a top operative and was doing awesome and then a "whirl wind romance" happens (obv probably rapey or suspect) with this guy and Reagan is conceived then held in captivity and hidden from the world. Her dad is the president obviously. I mean I could be wrong but......am I?
Can I also say I hope Gordon isn't dead? He's this big bad horrible character that haunts everything in this story and we get all of two seconds and he may be dead now? And thorn is taking his body? I am not sure that is poetic enough of an ending. It again reminds me of the series I mentioned in my first two reviews that just have the bad guy stop being the bad guy before the series is over and introduce us to the "real" bad guys in charge that honestly we don't have a connection too, so we end up caring just a little less than if Gordon for instance was tortured and murdered.
It also feels like with a few changes this book could have been the last one in the series and that worries me a lot. The author has 2 more books slated for the series, and right now she is with all the guys. So the plot will mostly be testing them and tearing them apart for two more books. I mean she is probably going back to be captured by GE and will be tortured by Royce and her dad for a bit along with Dane, but did we really need another captive book, even if it's to show Dane his sister really is being controlled before she inevitably gets murdered? I mean I don't write these books but how else does Vera go out? She doesn't come back from her story line, and she will probably find some way to sacrifice herself to save her brother or Reagan proving with her last breath that she did love him more than the brainwashing at GE allowed. (Sorry I read this genre ALOT, some things just happen).
I don't know I'm worried for the next books, but I'll read them.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.6 out 5 stars. | 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3.5 out of 5 spicy peppers
Ramshackle indeed! We pick up right where the second book, Raze, left off, which was desperately needed after that cliffhanger. I was left reeling from the end of Book 2, and I was so ready to dive back to find out what was going to happen to Raegan and the MMCs.
The tension is high as we deal with the fallout. The pace was great, the world of Raegan of Ruin continues to captivate. If I had one small critique, it would be that I thought there might be been a bit more... impact on our FMC after some events in the book and it would have taken her a bit more to recover from yet it didn't also feel too out of place for Raegan either.
As I said in my review of Raze, this book ends with yet another twist and cliffhanger and I grumbled loudly. This cliffhanger was not as direct, yet the implications of the details made my heart sink. I cannot wait to see how this concludes in the final installment, Remnants, later this year. You slay me, A.L. Rook, and I am so happy for it.
-- Additional thoughts (not spoiler-y) -- * I will fully admit that I wanted to chuck my Kindle a few times because Vera makes me want to lose my shit. * I wonder a few things as more of the antagonistic main players come out to play, and I am eager to see if I am right. I make no further comment since it would move into spoilers. There is just a lot to think about and process. * I also miss some of our friends from the first book. The side characters brought in from book 2 and introduced in this one were great, and they do add to the story. * I love Jackson. Kellan is just so steady. Dane and Aiden did better, and I approve.
-- Quick facts -- * Established harem (4) * 3 out of 4 books * Multiple 1st Person POVs * X-men-esque but instead of school and safety they are taken to be studied and used * Escalation of antagonists and their plans * Alpha-a**holes that really do learn to grovel, making up for their shit
-----
Note: I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my fair and objective opinion. Thank you, A.L. Rook!
Ramshackle was amazing! It's book three in the Raegan of Ruin series, and let me tell you, A.L. Rook held nothing back.
It broke my heart when Raegan left with Gordan to save the guys, and now I see the consequences of that decision. Rae being back in Gordon's hands is just as horrific as I thought it would be. It's not just the physical torture but the mental one as well. The sadness and rage I felt on Raegan's behalf was beyond belief. Through it all, Raegan was doing her best to survive. She's stronger than she gives herself credit for.
Jackson and Kellan are just as swoon-worthy as ever. I love them and their obsession with her. They aren’t the only ones obsessed. Aiden and Dane see things a whole lot differently than before, and now obviously there are some regrets. I'm really enjoying where the story is headed. This plot focuses a lot on the group trying to piece themselves together again, as well as finally going on offense when it comes to the big bad. More of Gifted Enterprises was uncovered, including locations and big players. I still don't understand what their goal is, and I'm really curious to find out. Progress is made in the fight against them but not nearly enough. I was excited to finally learn about Raegan's origins, which I've been thinking about.
Oh, that ending. It wasn't as bad as the previous cliffhangers. In other words, I wasn't left in complete shock. However, the ending was still a doozy. I can't wait to see what happens next in Remnants.
This series has me in a chokehold. Honestly, each book I think to myself “Man, that was so freaking good. No way can she top that with the next one.” I’m proven wrong every time! Ramshackle was of course filled with action, drama (thank you Dane), tragedy, and a fair amount of spice courtesy of the leading men and lady in this series.
Not only is Ramshackle incredibly hot, it’s deeply emotional and transformational. Every bit AL Rook adds to this story is full of surprises and I’m always left stunned. Book 1 we got to see Kellan in the leading male role…bun+beard+tattoos= delicious…then book 2 was the devastatingly lethal Jack (yum again). Aiden did not disappoint in this book! Annnnd….The ending!!! Agghhhh! How do we wait until June for the next one?! I’m crying, laughing, fanning myself…it was so good. Bravo, I’m thoroughly impressed by how much character development happened with so many POVs for us to enjoy. I can’t wait to see more of Dane in book 4!
Yessssss! This 3rd book of the series was INCREDIBLE. It gave me everything I was hoping it would and even more. The tension, secrets revealed, feelings it envoked, budding relationships - it was all perfect. I absolutely love Reagan, she is such a headstrong, wonderful FMC, who goes above and beyond for those she loves. The men are all lovely in their own ways, and I can't get enough of every single one of them. The ending left me reeling! I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment of this series!
The fact that I come out of this and say Aidens my favorite and then remember that Jack is actually the perfect little storm cloud and then remember that Kell is an actual teddy bear and feel conflicted is actually amazing. That's super hard to do in a reverse harem - at least for me.
Also Cassandra has been pulling her WEIGHT. Girls been running all over the place healing these walking disasters.
Oh my freaking goodness, I was sent an ARC copy of Ramshackle and it didn't disappoint. I absolutely love this FMC, she is feisty, sassy, spirited and gorgeous, not only on the outside but she has the biggest heart of Gold when it comes to her 4 and the others that she cares for. 🔥
Reagan is the baddest baddie and I absolutely love this world that she finds herself in. Action, Adventure, Angsty Romance and Forced Proximity are only a few of the traits you will find in this Series. Raegan shows so much growth in this book, she has been beaten down to nothing and has built herself back up when things look so bleak... she just keeps swinging and won't go down without a fight. I can't wait to see where the story continues. I KNOW WHO THE PRESIDENT IS!!!! I think. Lol Give this series a shot and you will absolutely love it. I read the third book in 12 hours! Aiden, Kellan, Jackson and Dane are my newest obsession when it comes to possessive MMC's. They are total Alpha holes but their love for Raegan shines through from the beginning.
ARC reader.... absolutely adore this series, it has me in an absolute chokehold!! This book was perfect, Raegan and her guys are finally all on the same page and I'm here for it!
Book three of the Reagan of Ruin series, Ramshackle by A.L. Rook, is genuinely captivating. I hated every time I had to put it down! This series has had me hooked from the beginning and this book is no exception to that rule. Reagan, Jackson, Kellan, Aiden, and Dane are all wonderfully written characters and I love them all. The chemistry between Reagan and her men is electric and hot as hell. The character development, relationship building, drama, and mystery of this series is enough to keep me begging for more. I am desperate to see what happens from here. Book 4 cannot get here soon enough!
I like the characters and the way it was written. The plot just seems a little repetitive to me. The guild wants to take down GE, and GE wants to find the guild. They get close to getting Gordon but something always happens that he escapes. Rea is trying to figure out how to get all the guys and keep everyone happy and be a strong independent woman. I just felt like this book hit a plateau. Hopefully, the next book isn't as repetitive.
Just based off what I read in book 3, I can almost guarantee that this could have been a 3 book series. There was no plot development except in the last 1/4th of the book. Yeah maybe the relationships developed but that was it and, if you do it right, you could easily see that throughout the last book of a series. I was slightly bored in this one and ended up skimming most of it. Hopefully there’s a good ending!
3.5 ⭐️ Raegan spends a good chunk of this book captured and tortured. I’m not a big fan of this type of plot line. However it seems that’s what was needed for Aiden and Dane to come around to admitting their feelings for her. There wasn’t much plot development until the last quarter of the book when more players were introduced and the set up for the cliffhanger occurred. I plan to finish the series because I want to see our polycule work out and for Reagan to get her HEA.
She was back at the mercy of her tormentors. Her freedom was stolen away from her, and her hands were tied with no escape in sight. She knew that if she failed to do what she was told to do, others were going to die. But, this time, this time, she wasn't alone.
Best of all, this time, she had a plan.
She knew what she had to do. She had to submit, or at least appear to submit. She needed the chance to learn as much as her adversaries as she could. She needed to know as much as she could. And what she learned was shocking. There were far more of them than they had ever thought. They still didn't know what she knew. They were trivializing them and what they could do.
The more that she could learn, the more she could pass on, and the easier they would be able to take down the GE, maybe even from the inside, if they were lucky. More and more, though, she was finding her will slipping away the more time she was spending in captivity.
Is she going to be able to fight to survive and save the lives of everyone she loves and holds dearest? Or is she going to lose herself in her very fight to survive?
* Ramshackle is a full length why choose dark urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel that ends on a cliffhanger. It is book 3 of 5 in the Raegan of Ruin series that will be completed in 2025. If you like plot, banter, steam, a strong heroine, and multiple alpha-holes that you don't have to choose between, then this is for you. It is recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations.
I have been reading the *Raegan of Ruin* series since book 1. Ramshackle is a homerun installment in the series, and you get pulled into the book from the very first page. And you just get pulled further into the world that A.L. Rook has masterfully created.
One of the things that I love is that A.L. Rook has done is pick up where each of the previous books left off. That last cliffhanger had me on edge, so being able to pick up right where the last book left off was a great thing. I might have given up on the series if I didn't get to see how things in the story perfectly unfolded in a smooth transition.
Once again, we feel the tension that our poor heroine faces her enemies again, but this time, thankfully, she comes with a plan that hopefully will insulate her and protect her. As always, the stakes are immense, and the pressure is higher than ever. And we see the character dynamics set off on a new path, and that path is as compelling as ever. And the character arcs as thrilling and evocative as we have seen in the past.
So, if you enjoy urban fantasy, that is on the dark side, has a strong, intelligent, kickass FMC, quick wit, cutting banter, multi-alpha holes, then Ramshackle and the entire *Raegam of Ruin* series is the series for you and you should go and pick it up right away. And yes, this one does end on yet another cliffhanger that is going to leave you climbing the wall and screaming for the next installment.
I can't wait for the next book, which is thankfully slated for release later this year. It will be a sad moment in time as it is the last book in this amazing series, but I can't wait to see what happens and how this series is going to end. And really I can't be sad that it is going to end, I am just happy that it happened at all.
DO NOT START THIS SERIES UNLESS ALL 5 ARE OUT. When I started Ravage there was no indication that there would be 5 books, and if I had known, I would have waited to start. You do not want to read the end of book 4 without having the next one readily available.
I made the mistake of tearing through these books without writing a review after each one. So this is an overall review of the series (books 1-4). Overall, I love this series. It's a very good balance of contemporary and paranormal elements. The paranormal parts are easy to understand and follow, which I count as a bonus. The basis of the series is a world where there are "gifted" people. Reagan and her guys (Aiden, Jackson, Kellan and Dane) grew up on an island under Gifted Enterprises (the bad guys). Now they're fighting against Gifted Enterprises to take them down to protect the gifted people of the world.
A quick recap/breakdown for each book, as best as I can remember: Ravage: Reagan is a strong willed and bad ass character that comes in hot. She's been wronged in the past and she's trying to get revenge. She lands in the same city as the guys she grew up with on the island, but it's not all rainbows and butterflies. There's a lot of hatred and unresolved betrayal among them. All 5 of them are trying to take down GE but aren't willing to work together.
Raze: There is a lot of character development. Reagan and the guys start to work together and you start to get a good breakdown of the past trauma and betrayal between all the main characters - and it's not all that it seems.
Ramshackle: Book 3 really starts to pick up. Reagan continues her sacrifices for the guys, which I just don't think are ever appreciated enough. More of her past trauma is revealed and the guys really start to realize how wrong they've been about her. The conflict with GE is really coming to a head in this book and the pace picks up.
Remnants: Finally to the meat and potatoes. Reagan and the guys are fully in sync and working together to take down GE. There is a lot of focus on training and enhancing their powers as well as growing their allies. There was a lot more spice in this book. Reagan is fully engaged with all 4 guys so it's nonstop. I will say that I was not emotionally prepared for this book, specifically the end. They're going up against some of the strongest gifted people in GE so the tension is high and there's a lot to lose.
**I have very much enjoyed all of these books and the overall story. I will forever be upset about not knowing there are 5 before I started. I also think that this entire story could have been paced to fit into 4 books.
I absolutely devoured this book, well as much as real life would allow me to anyway. It jumped right in, like literally, right in where book 2 left off, which set the tone for the book. There was so much action in this book, but not so much to overtake the entire story. The whole pace of the book seemed to be just right, with enough "down time" between action scenes that it seemed to be a completely legit, could happen in real life kind of story.
I am so glad that our girl is starting to trust her guys again, learning to share more of her history from when they were separated, while also protecting herself. I am so glad that Dane and Aiden both learned that her secrets were hers and even though she didn't share them, they realized what complete donkey tails they had been treating her when her biggest secret was revealed and both actively worked to earn her forgiveness, even if she didn't understand why for most of the time, since they didn't share that they knew her secret. No, her knowledge of that came from none other than Vera. That heifer. But also, possibly, that poor girl?? Not sure, I'm still on the fence about her.
Thankfully Jackson and Kellan stayed the obsessed, stalkerish, loving men that they've been this entire time and once they all got her back again, became so over protective, but we all know it was to make up for the times when they didn't protect her. New characters were introduced that stood out to me, namely Reid, I want to know his back story, Charles who I think may be Mr Big Bad and Mallory who has me thinking that SHE might be Mr Big Bad, since she can change her looks. We shall see, we shall see.
Don't worry, for all the action that this book has, there are still plenty of steamy scenes mixed in. Of course, being book 3 of 4, there was a cliff hanger. It wasn't as shocking as book two but I really, really, really need to know, so come on June! lol
Badass Chick with 4 men in a why choose and plenty of action on top!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶
Book 3 and the smut rating has moved on up to 3 too! That alone makes me want to know how book 4 and the final one will be! If you've read the other 2 already, or seen some reviews - yes, there's another cliffhanger! But the build up, the suspense... Has you on the edge wanting to know what happens next almost every chapter. 2 days, and I devoured this book!!
😜 Mini Spoilers Coming!!!
So the quintet are growing closer both emotionally and physically. There's even a threesome that goes on and a bit of filth spoke of how they'd do more along with pleasure punishments 🥵
I love the amount of action in these books! Whether it's crazy ass training going on or fighting for their lives! This book isn't just about saving one another and Raegan but also alot more gifted too this time round!
There's more talk of SA as the FMC (Raegen) has her past laid out for the others to finally know. Just brings more "touch her and 💀" vibes throughout the book, which has been the theme through the other 2 books!
The stakes are higher, the prizes are higher, and there's so many twists. There's a few you can see coming but when it happens, you wouldn't of guessed THAT was how it was going to go exactly.
I love how she's getting her inner strength back and becomes even more a badass. I'm a little disappointed that the use of her nickname Ruin wasn't mentioned even once this time though!
The other 2 books were mostly from Raegen's POV with the odd chapter from one of the other MMC's. This book is far more split between them which I think flows so much better... Guess there's no choice when they're not always together and we need to know what they're all doing 😉
I'd certainly recommend all 3 books of this series so far and can not wait for the final one to be out in June. You need to read them all to understand the plot, 100% worth the read! 🫶🏽🖤
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved it! I was so excited to be an ARC reader for Ramshackle, I was eager to get back into this story after that heart wrenching cliffhanger. This series has had me hooked from the beginning and Ramshackle did not disappoint.
Book three picks right back up after book 2, Raze. Reagan must face the challenges of facing her long time abuser and tormentor, Gordon. All while trying to tear down GE, solve the mystery to find the answers she’s been seeking, and navigate the dynamic between her childhood friends turned enemies turned lovers.
The tension between Reagan and boys continue but are on the mend as they navigate how to pick up the pieces of the past to move on. Kellen and Jackson are just my all time favorite with their absolute obsession with Reagan. The spiciness, the banter, the pure possession is *chefs kiss! Aiden and Dane have finally come to the realization that Reagan has always put them first and they do what they can to show her how regrettable their actions and treatment of her were.
The plot continues as they all discover more about Reagan’s birth, new players to GE, Vera’s “rebirth”, all while trying to protect the gifted. As more and more questions are answered, even more questions arise. We arrive to another cliffhanger that leaves us wonder and wanting more. I have some theories of how I think this plot will go and am excited to read the next book in this series, Remnants, and see if they’re correct or if I’m way off base. Can’t wait to find out.
I’ve been anxiously awaiting Ramshackle since that epic cliffhanger in book two, and it did not disappoint! Ramshackle is a dark why-choose urban fantasy romance (Book 3 of 5) with high stakes, steam, and an unstoppable heroine.
Captured once again by her tormentor, Raegan is forced into a deadly game: comply, or others will die. But this time, she’s not alone. Pretending to submit, she gathers intel on enemies more powerful than they ever imagined, knowing they’ve underestimated her. If she can hold on long enough, they have a chance to take down GE from the inside. But the longer she stays, the harder it is to resist.
The brainwashing Raegan endures in this installment is brutal, and the emotional weight of everything she’s gone through is intense. I love seeing how the relationships between all the characters continue to evolve, and I’m obsessed with where they are now. They truly understand what Raegan has done and sacrificed for them, even when she tried to keep it hidden. When they uncover the truth, their reactions feel so right.
And then there's the scene I've finally been waiting for: that spicy tunnel chapter was excellent. And of course, this book leaves us on another cliffhanger, making me even more eager for book four!
The books/series doesn’t seem to have an actual overarching plot. What it does have is small events that don’t make sense in context with the other events. It’s all sloppy and doesn’t make sense.
The events have either the protagonist/antagonist in a position to end everything but don’t. Instead they leave the other side alone or they leave for no apparent reason.
The line in the sand that made me stop reading was when the FMC was having a panic attack and Aidan decides to stop her attack by removing her pants, bending her over on the desk and spanking her. The h becomes aware that she’s in her panties after getting spanked several times. Then the H proceeds to bind the h’s hands and blindfold her. The kicker is that the h was having a panic attack about previous sexual assaults. So Aidan decides the h having a panic attack about being raped and sexually assaulted wants to be bent over, have some clothing removed (while she’s out of it) and then spanked. WTF!!! Nope!! Hard Nope! The h and H haven’t even talked about bondage or spanking so there wasn’t any consent or safe words.
There seems to be a plethora of people that have powers yet the public is completely unaware. GE seems to be everywhere and everyone.
Ramshackle is book 3 of the Raegan of Ruin series by AL Rook.
I started the series when I was looking for an urban fantasy RH and was browsing the KU library. It caught me from the first chapter. It’s action packed, spicy and plot twisty in all the best ways. This book centers around Raegan’s journey from being forcefully taken back to the place her nightmares began and the daring rescue by her men. What I love most about Raegan is her feistiness and her independence. She survived on grit and the need to protect the world at large. Her men coming back into her life has her questioning whether she can truly move past the things that she’s done to survive and brings out a relatable vulnerability. Jackson. Kellan. Aiden. Dane. Each man has his own regrets with regards to Raegan. Each man has his own way of wiggling under her skin to fill a hole in her heart that she tried to ignore for years. This book does end on a cliffhanger but it’s so good it leaves you wanting more! I devoured this story and am excited to see what happens next on Raegan’s journey. If you enjoy urban fantasy with magic, RH, enemies to lovers, banter and touch her and die, this series is perfect for you!
This series keeps getting better and better we pick up after Raegan has surrendered herself to the enemy, the guys are struggling with her decision and are determined to find her and get her back asap. We’re introduced to a mysterious player who has been pulling the strings behind the scenes and has a powerful ability. Each book I end up loving Raegan so much more, putting herself back in the clutches of the man that has done so much harm to her to gleam info and help them finally gain the upper hand, giving Dane a fighting chance to help his sister and learning about her background showed both her strength and how caring she is even though she’s refused to see it herself. I loved seeing her relationships continue to grow with Jackson and Kellen and begin to make progress with Dane and Aiden now I hope they can work together to help her see herself not only the way they see her but how the people in the guild do as well. I can’t express how happy I was about the guys getting the upper hand on Gordon, even if it was orchestrated by someone else fingers crossed it sticks lol, oh wow that twist I was suspicious but I wasn’t expecting it to be that I can’t wait for the next book to find out if it’s true or not.
It has been a good minute since a series managed to suck me in so completely, and this one did it! I absolutely love everything about this series! If you haven't started it, but you love RH and fantasy, don't sleep this.
This is book 3 in a 5 book series (incomplete so far), and let me just tell you that I am obsessed! I love the characters, the story line, the spice...I love it all. This book picks up immediately from where book 2 left off, and the rage that I have been hoping for is delivered! Now, do I still want the guys to go on a rampage on Raegan's behalf? Yup, but they are off to a great start!
While I totally have a favorite out of the MMC's (I'm looking at your fine ass Jackson), I still really like the individual relationships that Raegan is building with each of the guys. This is my favorite type of RH, where the guys are like brothers and have grown up with the FMC.
Fair warning, the books do end on cliffhangers, and this series isn't complete. Also, there is some dark content within the book, so mind those TW's.
From the very beginning of book 1, this series has had me in a chokehold. These Characters are all so dynamic and enthralling. The powers they have are so unique and they remind so much of the X-men. Reagan is such a strong well rounded character. She has overcome so many obstacles and still she can find little glimpses of happiness with her guys. I love that they all didn’t fall into a relationship in book 1 and that all of their relationships are building at their own pace. These cliff hangers really leave me hanging and ready to jump in to the next book. I read a lot and sometimes struggle to remember what happens in a series when I have to wait an extended period of time for the next installment, but this series has drawn me in so much that it seems impossible to forget what all of these characters are going through. I cannot wait for book 4 to release so we can get back to Reagan and watch her fight to destroy GE!
An eagerly anticipated book that was better than I could've hoped!
I absolutely loved this book and I read it in one sitting.
Raegan cannot catch a break but I admire her tenacity so much. She is one of my favourite FMCs that I have ever read and I am really enjoying her character.
Dane continues to annoy the living daylights out of me but I do appreciate the character development that him and all the men are undergoing. Jackson remains my favourite and his devotion and obsession are perfect.
The plot really hooked me and I found myself wanting to continually know what happens next. The story did not feel rushed and events were paced really well.
A.L. Rook is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I really enjoy the writing style and its obvious how much effort is put into these books.
I would definitely reccomend this series and I cannot wait for book 4. I have my suspicions about what will be revealed next.
This was definitely my favorite book in the series so far! The ending of the second book was still fresh in my mind, so I loved diving in again and what a ride it was… The plot thickens, loyalties are questioned, new revalations arise, characters grow closer together, … Really: there is so much happening in this third book and it still didn’t feel like enough! I love the fact that this is a bigger series, I just can’t wait for the next book.
I’ve picked my favorite man in this series in book one, but even though Jackson still holds his position, I have to admit Aiden is rising in the ranks. He has such a powerful vibe and is really working hard to right some past wrongs.
Even though this third book provides some answers, it also opens up some new questions. I’m starting to love all these little details, feeling the complexity of the plot, and I can’t wait to find out what book four will bring. The cliffhanger is once again one I’ll remember clearly in the days and weeks to come.
This third book starts off where book 2 left off. It has some darker moments that make you feel for Raegan and what she is going through. We see relationships expanding and the pain that they all go through. This story has a lot of twist and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. We all see what Raegan has been through with her being so incredibly strong. With the help of her guys she can overcome anything. But yet all is not as it seems which the end of this book is showing us. I absolutely love the characters and their personalities. The villains fit the part perfectly and at times I feel like we are going to betrayals that are not expected but hey, I could be fooled too. This is absolutely a fantastic read and with the cliffhanger at the end I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next.
This series just gets better and better after each book. I’m so glad the boys know what happened to Rae and that the other 50% of them have gotten their heads out of their butts. Now I don’t know what to do with myself though…I was a die hard Kellan girlie but Aiden…where did you come from you large spicy God 😍 I was ILL prepared for that man and what he was bringing to the table 🤤
The plot is plotting so hard and I can’t figure out what’s coming next?! It’s driving me insane BUT I’m not even mad because this story has been so good with all the twists and turns. The chemistry between all the main characters is phenomenal.
I have so many questions that I need answered. All I have to say is Vera? Girl what’s going on?! Jackson what’s your ulterior motive? And WHO IS THE PREZZZZI?
