The hunt for a stealthy predator takes a damaged J-Psy to the heart of falcon territory in this new Psy-Changeling Trinity novel from New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh...

Justice-Psy Eleri Dias knows the end is near for her, her mind one step away from fatal psychic exposure. In the short time that remains, she is determined to atone for an act of omission that has haunted her for a long, cruel decade. But that decision not only means facing a powerful changeling wing leader, but also putting herself in the path of a serial killer.

Falcon wing leader Adam Garrett is fiercely protective of his family and his clan. After losing his parents as a teenager in a shocking act of malice, Adam has no forgiveness in him for the J-Psy who betrayed him, betrayed them, at the most painful moment of his life. But the evil that stalks his territory will allow him no respite, forcing him once more into contact with the J he has never been able to forget.

Everything that could've been between Eleri and Adam was lost years ago, a shimmering promise crushed. As they work to uncover a monster, the moment of reckoning looms ever closer. Soon, there may be no more time left for either atonement...or love...

I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

3.5 stars - The biggest thing I enjoyed about this installment is the answer to a major problem that has been hovering over the series' characters for a loonnng time. Very exciting to see macro plot development!
The downside is that I just didn't feel super connected to the characters in the story. I think I'm hitting up against the Dunbar number in terms of running out of emotional engagement fuel for how many characters and communities we now have. I just can't keep track of everyone, much less emotionally invest.
So overall - a fine entry but my brain is struggling to keep up and my heart isn't able to invest as deeply at this point

The rate is rounded to 3 stars to be generous because I would feel bad about giving this series, this author, 2, and the book is not that bad, but this review is gonna be a complaint, apologies.
The problem for me is not the book itself, it’s not bad, mediocre maybe, but not bad, many will like it, but I just couldn’t care less about anything and the real issue is when I look at the Trinity series as a whole. Let me explain. (generic minor spoliers ahead)

I started this series around 2012 I think and have been reading it ever since, a long time, and even if since then I read many books and series that I love way more, this one has a special place in my heart for being the series that really started my books junkie life, so I’ll always remember it fondly; that said, it’s way pass the point where it should have ended (Allegiance of Honor would have been a perfect place to end), it lost the spark the books of the first half of the series had. I know many still enjoy it and I’m happy for them, but this is my opinion.

Books plots have become extremely repetitive, I can’t remember a single book (plot, character or couple) after the one about Silver, 9 books ago! (I checked) They all follow exactly the same pattern.

The love stories have all been bland, carbon copies of each other, the characters same, I haven’t cared about a single one of the new ones who have been mc after Allegiance of Honor.

The base of the plot is the same every time, there is a Psy with a brain issue that’s terminal and by the end of the book he/she miraculously recovers.

Generic bland villain of the week while the storyline of the villain of the over whole series, interesting in theory, does not progress at all.

The same problem with the Psy Net that we are talking about from 10 books minimum is repeated and remains the same, the only element missing in this one that was in all the previous books was the new never heard before last minute groundbreaking Hail Mary found in the end of the book to save the population but it’s only a temporary solution mind you, there must have been at least 8 Hail Mary discovered…

The only good thing I can say is that it’s always nice when old characters make a small appearance.

It pains me to be this critical but these books have become something to skim through only to see if the story concludes. I want to see how it ends!

My full review soon to come closer to publishing date.

Quick Thoughts:
I LOVED this book. The pacing was a bit slow in the first half (but this is common in her trinity books due to how she world builds it) I loved the falcon clan, the sexy alpha leader, the tortured heroine, a killer on the loose and the atmospheric setting of Arizona. Not one you will want to miss out on at all

This one is apparently about some bird changeling (Adam?) and I THINK a BlackWater heroine. Still waiting for a couple I care about, though this one may surprise me...

UPDATE: Yeah it isn't a BlackWater heroine, FFS it's someone else I've either never heard of or can't remember (which amounts to the same thing). Low expectations already.

Welp I feel like my beloved series has stalled and that makes me sad. I miss the swoony hot romance combined with the Sky Is Falling! external plot and while we get some of that here the switch in focus to mostly murder mystery with a dash of romance is disappointing.

In Atonement Sky we finally get Adam's story and if you forget who he is, it's because he's a minor character who made appearances here and there in the first half of the series. He's the wing leader (alpha?) of the bird shifters. His mate is a J Psy named Eleri who is brought to Adam's town following the trail of a serial killer. Eleri and Adam have a brief history when she was part of the j Psy team who helped get the murdered of his parents off. He held this against her for a decade and I get it because me? I'm a champion hold grudger too but some stuff made no sense because it wasn't her? It was her mentor who she assisted plus she was literally a young adult with zero ability to stop what was happening? Anyway, he hates her but she's determined to atone for her wrongs (which weren't hers to begin with but whatever) So she comes to the town to help catch this killer who is obsessed with her and I never really caught on as to why. But they talk it out about halfway in, they bang it out (in a cave!) and then Eleri is like I gotta split because I'm a J Psy and about to die and he's like but you're my mate. I think I've read this story before 🤔

Listen, I eat the Psy Changelings pairings up with a spoon. I know it gets repetitive with the Psy always having a ticking clock in their minds but I don't care because it always comes with tension and sick bed angst. In this book and the last couple to be honest, I had a hard time connecting with the main characters and their romance. I also had a hard time caring about anyone in the pack or whatever the birds are called. And some of it had to do with the pacing into his book because roughly the first half is a police procedural (think SVU). Not only are there women being murdered but Adam's bestie and second in command is also shot and it's in coma. So it's like a medical mystery and a murder mystery. Then suddenly it turns into a romance and we finally get Adam and Eleri but only for a bit because she also goes into a coma and suddenly a secondary romance is thrown in there. And suddenly I'm more interested in this secondary romance because it was vintage Psy Changeling and gave me Judd/Brenna vibes. While I loved it, it left me wondering why the entire book wasn't this.

I think I'm just struggling with the many packs/families that are being introduced in every book which I guess Trinity is supposed to introduce the rest of this universe. But I personally preferred it when the focus was on just one area and a limited set of packs and Psy because I got to know those characters/ packs/families as side characters first until they got their own books and by then I was super invested. I don't know WindHaven, the introduction of packmates that I probably won't see again for another ten or twenty books doesn't interest me. I'm just not invested in these people and their struggles as I was in Dark River and Snow Dancer. Those people felt like family after a couple of books and I miss that. Speaking of Dark River, Sascha and her cub and my fave morally grey Nikita make appearances. Also Sophia and what's his face from Bonds of Justice but it's one of my least faves so I didn't care lol. My forever love Kaleb is mentioned and damn if I don't get the tingles every time I see his name on the page.

I'm here until the bitter end so I will continue to read the books but I think it's time to lock in and solve the whole Psy Net problem. These police/medical mysteries don't interest me at all and also not every minor character needs a book imo. I'm wavering between three and four stars because it did have some good moments and it is Nalini. I think the lack of heat and romantic development makes it a 3.5 and I'm gonna round it up.

This book doesn't stand alone it's 24th in a series (!) The series is split into two so you can start with Silver Silence which is book 16? I've lost track lol. But I would highly HIGHLY recommend starting all the way at book 1 with Slave to Sensation. That book changed my brain chemistry.

I am genuinely not sure how much point there is in writing this review - how many people are reading the reviews of the…. 24th book in a series? If you slogged through Ocean Light, you’re in this series to the bitter end. But, Netgalley gave me a copy in exchange for an honest review so here we are!

I think it’s very clear in this series that Singh is getting a little tired of the romance, because this book has followed a trend of increasingly rushed romances while the world is being developed. Having two “matings at first sight” books so close together was a little frustrating. I *miss* the development of a relationship.

I am very glad to see one of the major challenges facing our heroes this whole series has been resolved. I wish, however, that we got to see Eleri learn about who she is after the climax of the book.

See you all in book 25

I know I can count on Nalini Singh for a consistent product. With my reading energy low as I continue to recover from Influenza A, I needed something easy to read. With this book, I could enjoy a new story while knowing exactly how things would end. Comfort reading without rereading.

Singh has obviously decided to expand her Changeling world in the Trinity series. In this installment, we are introduced to the Falcon shifters. Previously, they had been referenced as allies of the leopard and wolf shifters, but were very much peripheral characters. Now we meet Adam Garrett, wingleader of the falcons. Of course there is a Psy character involved as well (I think they are Singh's favourite characters, just as they are mine). Eleri is a Justice Psy, able to record memories of criminals and share them with law enforcement. This is a heavy burden for Js to bear, memories of horrible events. Eleri has been sent for “reconditioning“ so often that she is unsure how much of herself is truly left. But until her death, she intends to hunt serial killers.

Adam and Eleri have a past history which they must overcome for their HEA. This is Singh, so I knew that they would be successful. The question is how and she writes interesting problem solutions. I am now caught up on this series which is both satisfying and sad, as I have no more quick reads to look forward to. But there are still plenty of unresolved issues, so I expect a new installment soon.

I am going to give this a solid 3.5. I have loved this series for a while but do feel like the osy changeling trinity portion has been a bit hit or miss. I recently read Primal Mirror so I would be caught up and OMG did it remind me of why I loved this world. I was excited to read about Adam and Eleri. I liked Adam when he was introduced a few books back and was intrigued by bird changelings. I liked their history and that they knew what they were to each other when they were so young. But it was classic wrong time, wrong place. Now fast forward 10 years and they are in the same space again. I liked watching Adam realize the error of his ways in regard to this thoughts around Eleri. I liked watching him realize how he had wasted time and how now he was committed to making Eleri's life different. How he was committed to making her FEEL things. I always like reading these Psy women fall in love with their changeling men. Eleri had been conditioned to not feel anything yet she couldn't forget Adam and how he made her feel. This book lost me though at like the 80% mark- I understand there was a lot that needed to happen to close a certain loop but it just seemed like a little too much filler in my opinion. I wanted more time with Adam and Eleri and felt that could have been achieved while also trying to figure out a solution to the larger problem. I also got a little annoyed at the reminder at the end about the Psy Net :/ I felt like the killer situation was so built up and then just ended.

Eleri is working a serial case that has put her in the territory of the one man she hasn't been able to stop thinking about in 10 years. Adam Garrett. The boy who changed her heart all those years ago is now a man. The wing leader in fact. And he still clearly hates her for what went down all those years ago. She tells herself she deserves it. That she should have done more, but she was still so young. She focuses on the women who have been found. She tries to focus on the case, but the more she is around Adam the more he makes her feel things even though she shouldn't. The more they talk about what happened, the more she understands about his past and his people. The more she WANTS to feel things again and be the girl he met all those years ago. She knew he was important to her but maybe not how much. But now that she is close to a full burnout, she doesn't want to waste anymore time. So now that the air has been cleared, they give in to this thing between them. She gives herself a day of bliss. Of wondering if this is what life could have been like if she had done things differently. And Adam delivers in all the right ways. He makes her feel loved. Cherished. Important. And though it kills her, she has to walk away. But then the worst happens. Another woman is taken. One close to Adam, and though she had plans to leave, she is not going to let this killer get away with this anymore. Even if it means sacrificing herself to save another. Because at the end of the day, Eleri feels and she knows how much she loves Adam. Which makes her decision easy. Even if it means she will never get to see him again.

Adam has been wingleader for the birds for the past few years. And though he has been searching for companionship, he knows no one will fill the spot of his mate. He knows this because he met her all those years ago and then walked away. She betrayed him. She got him so excited and then broke him. Which is why he has never pursued anything but the thought of her. And now she is back. Eleri. His mate. The woman he hates and loves. She is here on a mission to find a killer. He can't help his instincts to want to touch and hold her. But he has to lock that down because she seems different than before. And the more he is around her, the more he realizes how much has changed. How much she has changed. How much she has endured. He realizes all was not as it seemed all those years ago. And now he feels terrible. He should have fought more. He should have gone for her. But that is the past and here is the present. He is not going to lose her again. He is not going to fight this feeling anymore. He is going to show her how their life is going to be from here on out- with him worshipping her and making sure she knows what she means to him. And all is going well he thinks. She seems set on their not being the possibility of a future but he isn't one to give up. But then someone else gets taken. And it is beyond personal. And when he finds out Eleri got taken as well to help save the other woman. He goes crazy. He loves her too much to lose her this soon. After all this time, they deserve a real chance right?

Nalini is the queen of buildup in these situations. These Psy women are stubborn to their core and set in their ways, but it is so fun to watch their men whittle them down. It's great to watch them catch feelings and see what that does to them. I loved that about this book. I liked the side characters and loved watching Bram fall for Adam's second. Wondering if they will get a novella of sorts? Like I said things just fell a little flat for me at the end. I felt like we were treading water and the story stalled a bit. With that being said, I am HOPING BEYOND ALL HOPE THAT WE ARE GOING TO GET A KIT BOOK- pretty please Nalini!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review :)

Justice Psy Eleri Dias knows she doesn’t have much time left with her mental shields collapsing, so she travels to Raintree, Arizona to following a serial killer’s trail and to make amends with the only man she’s ever loved a falcon-shifter, Adam Garrett. There’s a lot of hurt between Eleri and Adam, since his parents were killed and Eleri was caught between a dangerous situation and justice.

They work together as they hunt for a killer and are forced to confront the past.

Nalini’s Singh’s writing is captivating and beautiful, playful and sensual! I loved how Eleri was gathered into Adam’s clan, giving her family, love and protection. However, there’s a lot of intensity in Atonement Sky. Eleri and her Justice Psy “family” are at the brink of complete mental overload with no solution in sight. I always trust we’ll come to a happy ending by the end, though!

The Psy-Changeling series is original and addictive! It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy and Nalini Singh’s creative mind never fails to impress. It’s a long running series but I think you could read Atonement Sky without reading the previous books and enjoy it, but I’d recommend reading Silver Silence first, book one of the Trinity books, a sort of “season two” in the long-running series. There’s enough background there to understand the series more fully.

I voluntarily read and advanced readers copy courtesy of the publisher. These are my thoughts and opinions.

My rating might be super bias because you could hand me any book with a Psy/Changeling pairing and I would absolutely enjoy it. Just something about how opposite the two species are is always fun to read about. When I found out this was going to be about WindHaven I was very excited, we’ve seen glimpses in past books of the falcon shifters but never gotten to fully see what their clan life is like. It was so interesting to see the similarities and the differences between them and other Changelings. And we also get to see more of the struggle for the J’s which we were first introduced to with Sophie. My heart broke for how all the J’s just accepted their fate and continued to work to help others and fellow J’s.
Adam and Eleri have a dark past, they met briefly when they were younger and that meeting changed their lives forever. At first Adam is determined to stay away from Eleri but the serial killer she’s in town to catch makes that impossible. When they finally work through things, it’s honestly beautiful and you are on edge wondering how they will overcome all the obstacles in front of them.
It was also really great to see the overall storyline for the series move forward in a big way, a huge problem was solved, at least for now, which is very exciting. Though there are still many, many things that need to be fixed before everyone can relax and enjoy their HEA’s. I look forward to reading whatever comes next for the series.

Side note, someone in this book commented that Sasha and Lucas have been mated for a little over 4 years and that blew my mind. What do you mean it’s only been 4 years since the first book. So much has happened that it seems like it should have been way longer than that.

OMG OMG!! Finally! I love the series, and I can’t wait to see what Nalini surprises us with this time. And which couple will it be?? I need to know already!

I would absolutely love a book about Miane Léveque, Malachai Rhys (or the two of them together?), Pax Marshall, or Alice Eldridge with Zaid Adelaja in a story where, I don’t know, he reincarnated just to reunite with Alice—LOL. I also really hope we get more info on Anthony Kyriakus and Nikita Duncan (I’m obsessed with their romance, if there is one). I’m also very interested in Genara Mercan’s story; I imagine her with Adam Garrett… who knows.

I truly hope Nalini spoils us and gives us stories about all of them. Eternal love for your series, Nalini. Thank you so much!

Really loved the return of the Js and also the ultimate development of the . The sex did sort of seem to come out of nowhere and it's a persistent problem in this series where there are life or death problems but we don't have the historical exposure to the couple to make those stakes truly feel real. We had NINE books of build up to Hawke and Sienna and now we're often just meeting these characters and have no attachment. It's an issue.

This is by far one of my favorite series ever written. Every time I read a new book I wonder how the fuck this author does it. How she continues to keep this world growing and moving.

She is truly so fucking talented. This is also my first falcon shifter book and I loved it.

My only complaint. Caleb K didn't make an appearance, lol.

Adam and Eleri briefly met ten years prior when she was a young J-Psy working on a case involving the murder of Adam’s parents. The case didn’t go well and each went their own way, but never forgot the other because both recognized they had a special connection. Now Eleri is investigating a serial killer who lives and works among the WindHaven changelings where Adam is the Wing Leader.

I absolutely enjoyed Atonement Sky! This is a new focus for the series - an avian shifter. We’ve seen them before but never been among their folds. Singh provides perfectly fitting descriptors and visuals to describe the falcon-shifter’s actions and thoughts. It’s the small word choices that make the difference and create important distinctions between the WindHaven raptors and other shifter groups like DarkRiver and SnowDancer.

While the overall series story arc regarding the collapse of the PsyNet is an exciting and important plotline, I relished the change in focus in Atonement Sky. I loved the standalone romance that returned the Psy Changeling series to its roots - tracking down a dangerous predator hiding among the innocent.

The hunt for the killer was exciting without getting out of control. It made my heart race, but didn’t overwhelm me. I loved the balance between the case and the romance. I love that Eleri trusts Adam completely and will not lie to him. I love that they hunt for the killer together.

What makes their relationship special is that both knew what they were to one another when they first met. It broke my heart that a younger Adam, devastated by the injustice of his parents’ murder trial, realized he was going to have to live a solitary life without his mate, blaming Eleri for not standing up to protect him. But then as he gets to know her as an adult, realizes he didn’t protect her. He’s a leader without being an alpha-hole. He’s protective but gentle.

I also love that after the villain was apprehended, there is still the race against time to save Eleri, Bram, and the other Js. It’s a great project that has different races and people work together to meld science and technology in an effort to protect the Js, creating something that will make a difference across the globe.

Overall, Atonement Sky is probably one of my top 5 in the overall Psy Changeling universe. The characters are interesting, driven, kind, and willing to put it on the line to help the other and make a difference. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end.

My Rating: A

An amazing addition to this series!

I'll admit I wasn't excited about a Windhaven book. We met Adams as a younger man and well he wasn't memorable. But this book changed my mind quickly. Adams has matured into an amazing wing leader! He's protective and adorable with the little ones. Love Ollie! He's a little falcon that like to land on arms! So cute.

I'm so glad to meet Adam and get to know his clan. I love the Falcons!

The canyon is amazing and the home they make there so very changeling. Their struggles tore at my heart because this book brings the feels. There are several characters I will need more information about. I'd love to see a couple of characters have their own books.

Then there are characters I know from Darkriver and Snowdancer. I so love seeing them on the page. Sascha brought a new E on the page. His name is Hanz and his heart is so large and tender. I admired his determination. Hope we see him again.

The world that Singh has built over the years is great. It's expanded and grown to meet the characters whose stories we hear about. I have enjoyed every story in it with a few favorites. Atonement Sky is one of those favorites. It brings just a little bit more. Tangled in the story is a serial murderer that Eleri is trying to find before her shields give out. I love the added mystery that the author does such a great job adding. Lots of little puzzles pieces that kept me guessing as the pages turned. Such a fun and enjoyable read!

If you're a Psy-Changeling fan, don't miss this one.

3 1/2
This is a typical Psy-Changeling book with an actual Psy and Changeling, as sometimes we have Psy-Psy or two Changelings or a human in the mix. The two meet years before at a trial and the Changeling, Adam, a Falcon changeling ends up very hurt, blaming the Justice psy, Eleri, who was not the J-psy that testified but a collegue that was next to Eleri, for the injustice. They had talked a little before the trial and he had recognized her as his mate so when she didn't speak up, he gave up any thought of being with her. This is years later and when he goes thinking he will confront her finally, he finds that it is very different and she is a very, very change person. She is trying to track down a serial killer and she thinks he lives in this town, close to his Airy.

Eleri knows she is near the end, her shields are nearly gone and when that happens, she will end herself. Her original personality is gone, blasted by so many evil readings and memories. She now just wants to find this last killer and maybe apologize for not speaking up even though she couldn't have even if she wanted to.

So this is not one of the better of the series but it does further the answers for some of the players, especially the Js and humans but... the romance between the main characters is tame and doesn't really have a good reasoned conflict, so didn't work for me. Her friend and his sister was a much better romance but very quick.

So solid 3 1/2 and I think I'm going down.

When looking for a comfortable romance with a familiar formula, Atonement Sky checks all the boxes for me. I have loved the psy-changeling novels from the very beginning. This Trinity story arc/spin-off continues this winning formula of girl meets boy.

For hopeless romantics wanting second chance romance, this is the one for you. What I enjoy about Ms. Singh's romances is that they are filled with angst and tough decisions. What may look like a grievous betrayal from one side, it may have been a decision that saved many other lives. What happens if there are no good choices. And the choices end in life or death consequences? Now let's make this personal with all the emotions of young love. Now I'm captivated and I am invested in this story.

The speed of the forgiveness that Adam showed was impressive, for someone who spent 290 pages on I Will Not Forgive her even if it was not her fault, or how we only said two lines of words to each other she should've known better than betraying me/us in that way
because I've felt that pull and surely she felt it too. 🙃😒🤦‍♀️🙄 and she should've been loyal cause we just met and she asked if I wanted a bandage 😦😓🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

And that's a thought that will go on and on in his head 😫😫😓😓 until he suddenly can't ignore it any longer because she's his mate whom he left behind because he was grieving and thinks she betrayed him

Then we have the super-heroine with the numb feeling and all the ugly thoughts under the surface from her justice with the psychopath.
Who suddenly started to feel and she wanted to feel Adam's skin on her 😓😳🙄 but No, Nah don't get it the wrong way (it's not sex, or the way of the author to bring the steamy parts to play 🙂🙂‍↔️ pff Nah 😅🙂 It's just so Eleri can feel some emotion before she expires)🤫🤫🤐

There is really not too much to say regarding the latest entry in this series. We are 24 books into this world, and honestly, I LOVE it. As readers, we know what we are going to get from each new book.

We are going to get a new FMC and MMC that is either a Changeling, a PSY or a Human. Then these two are going to have some major issues yet somehow find their way together. Even knowing this - each new book is fun and exciting. Yes, it is a somewhat repetitive and formulative storyline- but it works. That is why we are 24 books in.

In this book, we meet FMC Eleri Dias who is a Justice PSY. We also learn all kinds of new information regarding what is happening to the J's after the fall of Silence. We then meet MMC Adam Garrett. Adam has been mentioned sporadically in previous books. He is a Falcon Wing Leader /Alpha for the WindHaven Clan.

Apparently, Justice Psy's had been used and abused by the old system under Silence and because of this, they ended up with an extremely short lifespan. There were NO old J's. Eleri is chasing a serial killer and is determined to close out this case in the time she has left.

Neither ever said anything to anyone else, but Adam and Eleri had met each other 10 years prior. In that crazy meeting, they both realized that they were mates, and yet at the same time experienced an event that made sure they could ever be together. Neither expected to ever see each other again.

We get a little bit of progress in the overall situation with the PsyNet and all kinds of action dealing with an awful killer in a small town.

I listened to this on audio. Angela Dawe has been the voice of this series since the beginning and as usual, she does a wonderful job. It is a joy and feels like coming home when you get the opportunity to drop back into this world. I'm ready for book 25 :)

REVIEW

Like reading poetry.

“We’re here,” they’d say. “We’ll help you. But you must learn to fly. Come with me, little bird. Let me show you the sky.”

I love Nalini Singh's writing. It always has some profound words, written so simply, and yet with grace and beauty.
...Aria, beloved of her family and of her clan, ever to be remembered in their songs, had slipped away to fly wing tip to wing tip with Adam’s grandfather, their skies distant from this world.

As to this installment in the series, I mostly liked it. It moved the plot along and it came up with some answers. It was also a book of love and feelings. Adam (ML) is a great alpha. Windhaven felt like home, even to me. And Eleri, without having big feelings, felt deep. (I know.)
Life was…beautiful…and more painful than death.

But I also felt that somewhere, somethings have been cut or missing. The elements and tropes weren't given extra book space to develop more. There was enough for the book to make sense, have depth and flow smoothly. But not enough space for them to take a firm root so that it left a lasting impression.

Atleast, I felt that way.

Anyhow, we are here. I still love the series. I still want more. I will always recommend reading Nalini Singh for the experience, because like Eleri,
She was still offering him bandages, this time for his soul.

I enjoyed this, both on the romance and macro plot level. While the macro plot wasn't as prominent, something happens in this book that has major exciting implications for the greater world.

Adam was annoying at first, but once the book finally turned the corner on his feelings it became more bearable and I enjoyed him and Eleri together.

It feels so weird having to actually WAIT for a new books now.

There was something so sad about this one. From Eleri and Adam's past and the could have been, to the present and how Eleri is close to the end. Add in a killer and this one will keep you reading til the end. Who the killer was, was very surprising, hard for the community to take.

The solution for Eleri's issue was interesting. I like that everyone was working together and once they found the solution it was shared with everyone without a charge or blocked access to the tech. Something like this is for the betterment of so many, yet could have been used to hold over everyone.

Fucking hate the H, he was a whiny little fucker for no reason because his reasoning was not valid! I honestly want the h to die, not because I hate her, no, it’s because the H doesn’t deserve her. He could have had ten years with her and save her from so much abuse, I don’t care if it’s “impossible” to get away with at the time. He should at least fucking tried, instead he was blaming her for shit that’s not even her fault and could have gotten her killed AND he did get justice anyway so WTF???? Of course, cherry on top, he fucks other women even after meeting his mate and she’s a virgin.

Initial thoughts:
Ugh omg I hate this trope. He knew she’s his mate but of course he’s fucking other people because he needs it blah blah blah. If I didn’t love NS work so much I would have DNF this because it’s also the same shit over the past few books. Yes the net is in danger of collapsing, again, made me roll my eyes.

Side note, if Pax somehow ends up “saving” the net at the end, I’m going to fucking riot. He’s a Kaleb’s wannabe, I don’t care what anyone else has to say about it.

With psychangeling, it’s been awhile since I fell completely in love with the couple and the story also captivated me. That’s understandable considering how long this series is and I’m a dedicated fan that reads each psychangeling and guild hunter release. I think the last book I really loved was Silver Silence. Now I have a new marker.
I looooved Atonement Sky! Adam and Eleri are a great pairing, the story flowed, the mystery had me captivated and brought thriller vibes, WindHaven soared like the falcons they are, and the side characters had me wanting their own stories (looking at you, Dahlia. And you, Jacques.) Also loved the throwbacks and cameos. I’m eager to continue and I know I’ll get to next summer because psychangeling is forever.
