Mastyr Seth craves his shifter bodyguard, Lorelei, but with her close connection to the enemy, how can he ever trust her?

He’s lived a solitary life and needs no one…

Mastyr Vampire Seth craves Lorelei, his new bodyguard, but he has a hands-off policy with those under his command. However, the sexy glint in her eye, as well as her wolf-shifter ways, keeps him in a fevered state. He’s lived a life of enforced solitude as Mastyr of Walvashorr Realm, but when the enemy arrives, ready to invade his land, he must rely on his bodyguard more than he ever dreamed possible. So much proximity breaks through his resistance and he takes the woman, marking her in a shocking shifter way that overturns his careful, analytical world. But when her connection to the enemy puts his realm in danger, how can he embrace a serious relationship with her?

She’s loved him from the first moment she saw him…

Lorelei guards Seth night after night, her heart on fire. She’s loved him from the time she snuck into his workout room and watched him go through his rigid exercise routine. Now serving as his bodyguard, she wants to take her relationship with the Mastyr of Walvashorr to the next level, but Seth holds back. That he desires her comes through in his wicked mossy scent, which in turn ignites her inner wolf. When he finally gives in to his own cravings and makes his move, she shows him how hot shifter-love can be. But will she ever be more than just his bodyguard?

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension.

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

Well this is the fourth book in this series and so much has changed since the first book Embrace the Dark and that's a really good thing. I confess that initially the vibration idea seemed a little overdone, interesting and unique yes but I just wasn't feeling it! Now terrible puns aside this series with this book has really developed the idea of the Nine Realms and those who reside there.
We met both Lorelei and Seth in the last book and it's fair to say that she was crucial to the story development and the author has taken up that idea and just run with it here. Seth is uber self contained to the point that he makes loners seem positively chummy. Seth wants no one and lives alone and if it wasn't for the fact that his realm needs him I doubt he would have contact with anyone! Add one very perceptive Fae Queen to the mixture though and Seth finds himself with a most unusual bodyguard and trust me gene splicing has got nothing on Lorelei! Lorelei is full of secrets and if honest she's not even aware of some of them but one thing she knows for sure is that Seth is the only male for her . Slight ( well huge really) problem though as Loreleis mother has slaughtered thousands and seems in no hurry to stop!
What can I say? It's quite a short read so a lot happens quickly and yes there is an awful lot of plot development. We've known about the murderous Invictus and the evil Fae behind them but it was quite a departure to see the workings of the shifters in this book. Likeable characters and I personally adore the troll Davido as he adds humour. As usual Ms Roane takes us on a sensual journey but it's a romance so that works for me !

I've read book 1, skipped book 2 & 3, & read this. I didn't feel lost reading this, not sure if it's cause I read book 1, though. Not sure what happened with this book, I didn't enjoy this like I did book 1. This book flowed so slowly, I was tempted several times to put it down cause I was bored. Maybe cause it felt so similar to the other books from this author. I've read a few other books from Caris Roane but from different series, but somehow they all seem to blend into each other IMO, especially the male main characters. They all seem to have the same loner, brooding thing going on, and all seem to have the same reluctance to bond with the women they are drawn to. They could almost be interchangeable from one book to the next. I really didn't like Lorelei's personality at all, Seth's was ok, but nothing special or to want to read more seeing as he's so similar to the others. I also think Lorelei had too many abilities pop us when needed that just felt to convenient for the plot. I think I'll pass on reading more from this author.

The Nine Realms Mastyrs continue to battle evil

More excitement as the Nine Realms continue to battle against the Invictictus and Margetta, the evil fae.
It is Seth's turn to find his blood rose. Lorelei was send by Queen Rosamunde to be Seth's bodyguard. Since she saw him a couple of months ago, she has fallen in love with him. They both have reasons in their pasts to hold back and not be able to trust or feel worthy. But with Lorelei's blood calling to Seth as a blood Rose's would, things heated up fast.
I am enjoying this journey through each of the nine realms. The only thing I didn't like was how Lorelei kept trying to bring up other men in order to get him jealous. With his past girlfriend betraying him, Lorelei's taunts just seem mean to me.

We met Lorelei and Seth in the previous book and I was happy to see this one feature her as Seth’s interest. She is so much more than she seemed in the previous book and getting to know the full her is quite an experience. She has a huge heart and is deeply drawn to Seth from their first meeting. As they find their way together Lorelei’s strength and abilities are revealed; and they build to a climactic battle with the enemy. All in all a hot story and I am so loving this world and series.

The story of Seth and Lorelei was sweet and enjoyable. There were no complicated conflicts or intense emotional highs and lows, rather it was a relaxing read that moved quickly and wasn't ever dull. There were no dry spots in the plot or conflict. The villain is Lorelei's mother again, the Ancient Fae, and Seth and Lorelei do battle her with a large contingency of shifters. Lorelei is a unique character, she is the only one to be a little bit vampire, a good portion shifter, a good portion fae, with some wraith thrown into the mix. She is powerful and has been on the run, hiding from her mom for a large portion of her adult life. She is a loner due to her constant moving around to stay out of her mother's clutches. Seth is a mastyr vampire who is over a 1000 years old, and for the majority of those years he has also remained a loner. Lorelei is entrusted with Seth's safety by the queen, she is to be his bodyguard, which Seth doesn't understand because Lorelei has absolutely no training for that kind of role. But he will not go against the queen's request, so he watches over her.

Lorelei has been attracted to Seth from the very beginning and has hid her feelings from him because she knows he is a loner and would not appreciate her affections, or so she thinks. Seth is attracted to her, but also keeps his distance out of duty and respect. When they do come together it is explosive. It comes out that Lorelei is also a blood rose, Seth's blood rose, and once that becomes apparent there isn't anything that is going to keep these two away from each other. Of course the typical events take place, Seth refuses to bond with her because of a betrayal in his past, and it takes losing Lorelei to wake him up to the realization that he does love her, and she isn't going to betray him, ever. The battle at the end is fast paced and entertaining. Overall, it was enjoyable, but not my favorite Blood Rose book in the series, that I think still goes to Book 3, Embrace the Mystery.

I must say though, that I loved watching Lorelei provoke Seth every single time. She knew exactly what to say to get him to lose control and the passion to ignite. It was fun to watch.

When I started reading this particular book I did not think that Seth and Lorelei would be the main characters. I was pleasantly surprised though at the relationship. Lorelei who has been running from her mother almost her entire life has been hiding out with Queen of Ferendon Peace and developing skills to prevent her mother from finding her. Now that she is ready to go out into the world and use these skills she's been commanded to become Seth's bodyguard. Seth is big and handsome and strong and definitely doesn't think he needs someone to keep him safe especially some fragile woman. He also becomes endeared to Lorelei and feels the need to protect her as well. Things get heated when Seth eventually drinks from Lorelei because there isn't any other choice and eventually they figure out that she is a blood rose. Tensions rise when the wolf packs start fighting as well because of a call that she puts out that saves his life and hers when they are ambushed by a pair of wraiths that her mother has sent for them. Lorelei saves his life again and again and eventually he has to save her as well. With a little help from the Queen Seth goes into battle to save his love and while things are a bit rocky they eventually figure out that the two of them can't possibly be stronger apart than they are together which is proven when Seth sets up to rescue her after she's captured by her mother. These two lovers really do show that love is a powerful bond. I absolutely loved this book and while I can say I love a lot of books this one in particular surprised me since I really was caught off guard by these two characters getting together, I really didn't think that they were going to match up together even when I did start reading. This book headed in a different direction than I thought it was headed and was a pleasant surprise. Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyed this story tremendously, maybe because of the wolf-shifter factor, however these two characters did have the same type of lonely, solitary, friendless life style, but different, Seth’s was self-imposed and Lorelei’s for self-preservation, but in the end you could feel the love and need the characters felt for one another, but most importantly, not just because of the blood rose. Lorelei’s character was amazing, as you learn of the many different species in her make-up, the different powers she has, then her background, her growing up knowing she was an experiment only to be used by parents who had no love for her, the influence of one very important person in her life, who helped form her personality, you realize she could have been so different because she was so intelligent and powerful but at the same time very caring, playful and loving. Seth’s character wanted his solitary existence, felt this was the only way he could truly focus on protecting his realm and its people, which was always at the forefront of his thinking, but at the same time this focus also hid the hurt of losing people he had loved, one through betrayal, this caused Seth to take a longer time to voice how much he really did love Lorelei, but then he knew, just never was able to admit it.
I highly recommend this series to all readers who enjoy a unique world of vampires with the interesting mix of different species, all which are developed into fascinating characters in a well written, truly thought-out storyline.

Parallel universe with sex. This is book 4 in the series. This is Mastyr Seth & Lorelei's story.

I really like Seth. I like that he's more serious & intelligent than the other Mastyrs we've met so far. He's also very old - 1100 years. He was betrayed by the woman he loved before he made Mastyr, so he stays away from women.

We were introduced to Lorelei in the last book & I liked her. Somehow in this book she became annoying to me. In the last book & in the beginning of this one, she seems passive & just a really nice person. Then, she discovers that in addition to being Fae/shifter/wraith AND vampire, she's a Prime female to the shifters AND a blood rose. I don't really care for the term Mary Sue. Usually it's not accurate. Lorelei is definitely a Mary Sue. She becomes someone I don't really like very well. She taunts Seth when they make love to get him all riled up. She becomes fae when she needs a vision. Shapeshifter when she needs to run the woods. Wraith when she wants to patrol in the sun. She's like 3 heroines in one story, which is just too many IMO.

These stories are starting to sound the same to me. The Mastyr is always farting around, not bonding to his Blood Rose. Then, another Mastyr shows up (The next guy in the series - always) & tries to drink/have sex with her. There's always a big fight. Blah blah blah.
The big bad fae (who's Lorelei's mother) is always causing more trouble. I think I need a break from these books for a while.

This is the fourth book in the Blood Rose series, and I would recommend that you read these in order for the full impact. Although each story could be read as a standalone (sort of), there is a general overall arc which makes more sense if you've read them all. Also, it's a wonderful series so there is no reason not to.

This is Seth and Lorelei's book - both of whom we have met before. Poor Lorelei has so many different 'strands', it's a wonder she knows who she is! Seth is a loner by nature, but circumstances made him even warier of letting anyone close. So maybe, just maybe, having someone close with so many different 'personalities' is a good thing? For me, that is a resounding YES! as I loved how they interacted with each other. Lorelei teasing Seth to get a reaction. Seth pretending to be grumpy to Lorelei, to make her smile. And I have to say too, that I loved the beginning of the book. To have our main female admit to loving the main male within the first six paragraphs was brilliant.

I loved the depth and storyline of this book. I love this Realm more every time I visit. With some very sexy scenes, as well as more romance than you can shake a stick at, this is definitely one that I can recommend. Loved it!

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Yet another amazing story from Caris. She truly is a gifted author. In this book you learn more about Lorelei and Mastyr Seth. Lorelei, as you may remember from book 3, is an anomaly in the realm world. She is the only known creature that is more than one species. She is a Vampire-Shifter-Fae-Wraith hybrid. She's been sent by Queen Rosamunde to act as Mastyr Seth's bodyguard. Mastyr Seth doesn't want her around but, not for the reasons that Lorelei suspects. Discover what journey and truths lie ahead for the two of them in this awesome story.

Seth and Lorelei or a very interesting pair. There are so many new additions that the author added to this book for the series. The shifters play a larger part and we learn more about Margetta and her plans for the Nine Realms.

I love this authors writing style. She makes sure that with each new book you get something new while keeping the story flowing at a decent pace and unveiling enough of the overall story arc to make a cohesive bond between all the books as a whole. I really love this series and I can't wait to see what the auhtor brings to the Nine Realms next. 5*s and well done to the author!

Embrace the Passion is book #4 of Caris Roane's Blood Rose Series.
I won't mention anything about the story because that can be found elsewhere. I read the three prior books in the Blood Rose Series, but you can start with book four without being too lost. There's enough references and spots revisited in the story that helps with the things that happened in the prior books.
The characters in the story, are likable with villain to hate. The story draws you into the author's created world and has a nice flow. Once I got into the story, I hated putting it down. The sex scenes fit into the storyline and tastefully done. There is a bit of a cliff hanger, in that the background story that started in earlier books goes through book four and will continue in the books to come.

YAYY it's Seth and Lorelei!!!!! I kind of figured that Seth's book would be next I just wasn't sure if it would be with Lorelei but I had hoped:-) :-) Beautiful story. I love the outdoors and the descriptions in this book were just beautiful I could picture them.
So Seth is the Mastyr Vampire of Walvashorr and has been for a thousand years. Lorelei is the daughter of the evil Fae Margetta and is sent to Walvaahorr by Queen Rosamund to be Seth's bodyguard. Seth doesn't agree with this because he feels it is too dangerous and she is untrained. But Lorelei refuses to do anything else, she's also fallen in love with him. Because of betrayal in his past Seth has lived alone for a thousand years and has a hard time with his feelings for Lorelei.
I really really enjoyed this book. Seth and Lorelei are awesome together and HOLY HOTNESS. I thought Quinlan and Batya were hot but wow go Seth and Lorelei, mind you Lorelei's shifter part helped lol. I love how she taunts Seth its AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to start the next book.

Love this story!! At the end of book three I kind of felt that Seth and Lorelei would end up together, so to read their story next was awesome! I loved how detailed the scenery and emotions were, I felt as if I was there with them in the mountains and feeling their emotions. I also like the introduction of the shifters. Hope to find out more about this group and if Lorelei and Seth are connected to all the shifter groups in all the Nine Realms as Prime Female and Regis male. In this story both Seth and Lorelei have to come to terms with their past and let it go, in order to come together and save Walvashorr from an impending battle that can mean the end to all the realms. As all the Mastyrs are finding their Blood Roses, I can't help but feel as the series goes on that their is a huge battle coming up. Can't wait to see what the next book has in store for Jude. *Copy was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

I believe so far that this is my favorite one in the series.

I really liked Seth and Lorelei. I wasn't sure what I was going to think about them when I met them in the previous book. But this one was fun. Maybe it was because it involved the shifters more in this story, so I got both the shifters and the vampire. Double the yum!

This story picks up on the continuing of saving the realms and fighting off the bad all while Seth finds his blood Rose. I felt a good connection with the characters in this story and I can't wait to see more. So far with these two being my favorite, I am going to miss them, so I hope to see more of them in future books. But also realize that we are only 4 realm out of 9 in so far. So I will miss them, but knowing they are happy will help.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for more.

This is book 4. Seth is a Mastyr Vampire over 1100 years old and a little wary of women after being betrayed. Lorelei is a genetically engineered experiment begun by her parents, an Evil Fae mother and a vampire father. She is a mix of several different types of DNA, the most prevelant being wolf shifter, fae, vampire, and wraith. She is struggling to find her self and stay off her mother's radar. She is his bodyguard and he cant understand why. As the story progresses you see them grow to love and trust each other as well as grow into who they are individually and as a team.

I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

The ancient fae Margetta and her army of Wrath pairs are again using deadly force in an attempt to take over the Nine Realms.
Margetta is also after her daughter Lorelei in order to use her power for evil.
Lorelei has been hiding from her mother for years. She has recently learned how to use her shields to block her mothers' detection. As a bodyguard to Mastyr Seth, Lorelei is discovering new powers along with a blooming love for him as his Blood Rose. I enjoy the Blood Rose series this being the fourth in Roane fantasy paranormal world. Would like to see more interaction with folks from previous installments of this series.

I wish these were longer!

Mastyr Vampire Seth’s not looking for a bodyguard, but when the Queen assigns him one he tries to accept it as gracefully as he is able. Unfortunately or fortunately for Mastyr Seth, Lorelei, a white wolf shifter-fae-wraith is more than he bargained for. Lorelei is more than a match for Mastyr Seth and possibly his blood rose. The chaos of war brings out the very best in them and that makes for a great, if short, read.

I feel as though I could sit at my easel and paint the landscape exactly, as they are so well described. I was thrilled to discover that I am still on the edge of my seat as we progress through the realms. Each area holds an individual set of inhabitants so you are kept interested even beyond the last word to be truthful. Anticipation is high, as the next Mastyr has been introduced and you find yourself anxious to move on to his story even as you are still in thrall with the current one. And now, I want a tree house as well…..

Embrace the Passion, an amazing read yet again from Caris Roane.
I was hooked with this one too!
In this book, it's Lorelei and Seth's story.
With all the things that is happening, invictus attacks headed by her mother, things get tough.
Seth, a master vampire of Walvashorr.. HE's an interesting and responsible man.
Lorelei, a woman who is running from her mother.
When the two meets, things just leveled up!
As the story goes, things get more intense and exciting!
Love this book!!
Can't wait to read the other masters' stories!

This one didn't quite grab me like the others but it had a solid story line. I didn't really get the connection between the main characters. And I don't feel like there was anything new added to the continued story line. But I will read the next and here's hoping it's a good one. : )

Seth is saddled with a bodyguard assigned by the queen. Lorelei takes her role as Seth’s bodyguard seriously but can’t deny her attraction to Seth. Seth and Lorelei must work together to save the 9 realms but will Seth let his past get in the way of his future with Lorelei. This is a fast paced read and the story kept me entertained throughout. Looking forward to more in the series.
