What happens when a werewolf prince falls for a vampire nightclub queen? All hell is about to break loose.

Sadie Pemberton owns the hot NYC nightclub that also fronts as a supernatural bar.

Killian Bane is heir to the werewolf kingdom. With special permission, he can remain in NYC and start up a new club very similar to Sadie's.

Sadie can't get Killian out of her head; Killian can't stay away from Sadie; And boy do they both like to stir the pot up a bit.

So, what is a simple vampire to do when the big bad wolf royalty comes blowing down her door?

Guess you'll have to read Vampires Never Cry Wolf and find out.

Humphreys, once again, provides a well written addition to Dead in The City series. The unconventional romance is extremely fun to watch develop and evolve. While Sadie immediately has an inkling that Killian is her mate, Killian's reaction is priceless...making Killian the perfect prince charming. I really enjoyed this delightfully enchanting story.

I'm riding a paranormal high and it's all because of VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF! Seriously, how did I resist picking this series up from the beginning? I read this as a stand alone with no trouble, but now I must go back and read the first two books. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself; jumping into a series and then kicking myself for doing it because now I have to back track and read what came before. I was hoping that this would just be a simple enjoyable read. That I could easily walk away from the series having just experienced this one good read. Nope, I enjoyed this one too much to let the world that Humphrey has created go. Double dang!

In VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF we get romance that isn't exactly welcomed and doesn't come easily to either Sadie or Killian. Lust and desire, absolutely. But trust, understanding, and devotion doesn't come easily or naturally between vampires and werewolves. Sadie doesn't want to be attracted to what she perceives as a somewhat entitled playboy who's trying to move in on her territory by opening up a competing night club in her city. Especially not one who just happens to not only be a werewolf, but a werewolf prince. Killian on the other hand doesn't want to believe that fate would be so twisted as to place the mark that proclaims his mate on a vampire. With the werewolves just recently moving into New York and peace between the werewolves and vampires shaky at best, the pairing of a high ranking werewolf and an independent self sufficient vampire who runs a successful night club is not exactly a match anyone in the know would have made.

VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is full of paranormal goodness. It has intrigue, scandalous humor, strong sexual attraction, good dialogue, and a cast of characters that will leave you wanting more from this world. VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is a great addition to any paranormal romance library and is going on my favorite reads list.

Sadie is a two-hundred year old vampire and owns a hot nightclub in New York City. With one of the best DJ’s in the city and great bartenders, there is always a wait to get in. Sadie’s club caters to vampires and humans and unfortunately for Sadie, werewolves too.

Werewolves and vampires have a very fragile truce at the moment, so when the werewolf prince, Killian starts coming into her club every other night, Sadie tries to play nice. The city isn’t a usual hanging out spot for wolves, as they like open spaces to run, so Sadie is confused when she hears Killian is not only frequenting her club, but also signing a long-term lease for a New York city penthouse. But when she finds out he is opening his own club, all polite words go out the window.

Killian is indeed opening his own NYC night club and has been visiting Sadie’s club for some pointers. Annnnnd he can’t keep his eyes off the feisty vampire. In his dreams, he has always been searching for his mate with the mark of the moon on her shoulder…and guess who has that mark? A vampire and werewolf fated to be mates? Say it ain’t so! (spoiler alert! It’s so!)

I’ve never read Sarah Humphreys and found this to be a light-hearted paranormal romance with a stubborn, feisty heroine and a hero who is kind of alpha. He is let’s say – a gentleman’s alpha. A bit growly, but always respectful and falls in love/lust quick. The author does a nice job giving the reader the rules of her paranormal world without being overbearing. As this is the third book in the series, and the first I’ve read, I caught up quick. It’s a pretty straight forward vampire/werewolf world. In this one however, a werewolf bite to a vampire will kill them. Vampires get very high off of drinking wolf blood. When a vampire mates, they can only have telepathy with their bonded mate. All of this comes into play in this book.

We don’t get a wide view of vampire or werewolf politics – the story takes place in NYC and mostly focuses on the direct lives of the characters. We do get a little glimpse into how the shifters and the vampires try to keep the peace between them. There is a lot of talk about how violent it used to be between the vampires and wolves – it was hard to grasp that Sadie or her other vampire friends would ever kill wolves (which we are told happened). I kind of wish we got to see that violent side just so I could believe they have that violent side to them. Both sides come across very…human at times…in their nature.

The sexual tension is done nicely between Sadie and Killian. Once he sees the moon mark on her shoulder, he knows she is his mate. She takes a little more convincing. He is pretty sexy and she can’t resist for long.

A pretty straight forward paranormal romance – wanted a little more action but for a quick read it was nice.

She is a DJ turned manager of a supernatural night club called The Coven.

She's sexy, snarky and she hates werewolves.

The Wolf

Our hero is Killian and his a werewolf prince. And as the prince he is expected to take over ruling his people when he turns 35 and his father retires. Killian has yet to take a mate. His father keeps throwing female wolves in his face in hopes he will settle down and start a family. But Killian has dreamt of one woman for years and he is convinced she isn't real. Then he relocates from Alaska to Manhattan to get away from the pressures of the pack with plans to open a supernatural night club.

After helping out the vampires in the previous novel, Vampire Trouble , Killian can't stay away from The Coven and it's sexy new manager.

Final Thought

Sara Humphreys has what it takes to keep me coming back for more of her Dead in the City series.

Need proof that you can’t help who you fall in love with? Check out Vampires Never Cry Wolf, the sexy, sassy latest from Sara Humphreys. Everyone KNOWS New York is vampire territory, but perhaps the werewolf prince, Killian didn’t get the memo, or doesn’t he really care? With plans to open his own hot club, he searches for the secrets of success in the hottest club around, owned and operated by vampires. What he wasn’t expecting was the delectably dead vamp, Sadie, who runs the place. Has this rebel prince found his mate outside his kind or has he met his match and then some in the fiery woman who “says’ she wants nothing to do with him, or his kind. Yay, team werewolf powers of scent!

Can these two cool the cold war long enough to make some magical heat of their own? Would they even be accepted among the supernatural world or will some ancient being wreak havoc in the name of purity and the vampires “stake” in New York?

Sara Humphreys turns on the charm, cranks up the heat and gives us a full belly laugh of snark and humor as her characters traverse that shaky tangle that is love in the making. Looking for a fun read that never lets up? Two supernaturals, a lot of personal disbelief and some intrigue and surprises…Killian and Sadie together-the fangs will be bared, the fur will fly, and that’s just under the sheets.

I loved this! The hero was SO smitten with the heroine. He knew what he wanted and went after it! I love when alpha shifters are written properly! I was a wee bit sad that he didn't growl "mine." But everything else about him was perfect! I liked Sadie but I do wish she had resisted him a wee bit more, just so I could see even more chasing! He would have done anything to get her to mate with him. Sigh. So good.

There wasn't much action in this till the last 20%, which I loved because it meant most of the story was focused on their relationship. I read for the romance y'all.

I did panic at one point because

This was just brilliant. A lovely paranormal romance!

Summary
Sadie Pemberton, runs the hottest dancing vampire club in New York City. She is all about living a carefree life without responsibility. But then danger comes to her door, with the name of Killian, a danger not to her life, but to her sanity. Killian, is the royal prince of the werewolves. When his older brother was killed, he was forced to take his place as the heir. And he knew that would come with responsibilities, ones that he didn’t want. Where he would have to marry a woman that he could never love. But he keeps a secret to himself, he knows his future mate is out there, and she bears the mark of the moon, which would make her is bloodmate. It is only known to their world as rumor and myth. But Killian believes in it, and when he sees the mark, he must claim her…even if that woman is a vampire. Sadie and Kilian know that they don’t have any future together, but they can’t resist the passion or the connection they feel for each other.
The Hero
Killian Bane, is a werewolf prince. Killian will always do what is expected of him. He adores his parents, and will do anything to keep from disappointing them, but when it comes to his choice of mate, he has to take his own heart into account. Killian is one hell of a hero. This is no beta wolf we have here. He is alpha, not just that he takes command of situations. But that he goes after what he wants and lets nothing stand in his way. Even if that person is his bloodmate. What really drew me to Killian, was how sensual and powerful he is portrayed. There is nothing subtle about his character. I felt instantly drawn to him in such a stimulating way. He is strong and courages, a fighter, but you see how he puts Sadie first in his life. I admired that about him. That he wouldn’t let what his father may think or his people or her people may say, he loves her and will fight with his dying breath for her. That devotion just kept me drawn into this story. Killian is one hero to watch out for or he may bite…
The Heroine
Sadie Pemberton, was turned into a vampire two hundred years previous. Sadie has never had much responsibility, and she likes it that way. But then when she is asked to take over management of the club and now her troubles have become tenfold, because there is a werewolf that she can’t shake off her tail. He is tenacious and most especially when it comes to her. But what Sadie can’t do is admit that that attraction isn’t one sided. Sadie was a hoot. She had backbone, and didn’t just give into a man with good looks and hunky body…although I am not sure if I would have been strong enough. She is determined to stay true to herself and she does get conflicted about certain things. But it added quite a bit of more depth to the story that you don’t fully see coming. Sadie was such a passionate heroine, and she really captivated me. From the first page, you see that she is not your average heroine. She is stubborn and fierce and loves having a party. But she isn’t flighty. I felt like the author did well in writing her character and she seemed to balance out Kilian.
Plot and Story Line
I have read this author before but not in quite some time. I was able to listen to one of her amoveo books, and dang was it so good. So when I was given the opportunity to participate in reading this for the author and publisher, I couldn’t pass it up. Now one thing I wish that I had done, is read the first two books in the series before giving this one a shot. Although I tend to read books out of order, and it’s not too difficult to adjust, I do wish that I had read it in order. I felt like there were certain things I was missing, things that had happened in previous books that set this story up. Now, you can read this alone, but if you have the opportunity read it in order. This story is quite a fun ride. I don’t know how many of you have read this author, but if you haven’t…you are missing out. Seriously, after reading this author, I want to go out and buy her books and read them this weekend. This story is centered on the love connection between Killian and Sadie. They have some obstacles to fight, but it was refreshing how this author turned this story into a focus on the couple. There are other factors in play on this one, but the main focus was seeing them fall in love. What is also another factor was that even though they believe their future is cursed; they still can’t resist each other. I love it when we see a couple plays with fire, and the way it was written you see how powerful that can be. This couple won me over pretty much from the beginning. I mean we have this alpha werewolf prince (drool), and a sexy vampire who loves having a good time….yeah fireworks are going to happen. But they make a good team when danger comes to their doorstep. I don’t want to reveal too much, but the way that these two find their HEA is unique, and not something you would expect seeing happen. So be ready to rock and roll on this story ladies and gents.
Cover
This cover is so sexy and colorful. First…this male model has such a gorgeous body. I mean I just want to kiss and gobble him up all over. But those abs and shoulders…oh yummy. I also like the dots of color with the moon in the background. It gives off a dangerous and mysterious edge.
Overall View
Vampires Never Cry Wolf is a stunning romance, which mixes vampires and werewolves, a story to tantalize and enthrall from beginning to end. Gripping and well written, this author writes a story to captivate. A fast paced page turner. MESMERIZING!

This is probably my favorite book in the series that I’ve read thus far. This one really clicked for me and I think it had to do with it being a bit less serious for much of the book. Sure the tension ratcheted up at the end, but the majority of the story was centered around the pairing up of this fun couple. The writing style is also starting to remind me of some of my favorite authors like Alexandra Ivy, Jacqueline Rhoades, and even Kerrelyn Sparks. If you enjoy any of the previous authors I highly suggest giving this one a try too.

I loved this couple! Killian was so much fun; strong and cocky, yet realistic and vulnerable as well. Humphreys did an excellent job of creating a crush-worthy male lead with this one. Then there was Sadie who was typical to this series in that she held a twist in her turning or heritage that made so much more than met the eye. This author does a great job of taking diversity and bringing it to light for us to examine. The problems might be paranormal ones, but the parallels can be drawn for our own reality. I appreciate the questions this author brings up about tolerance and choosing to be progressive and change for the greater good. I love the lessons she is teaching us through her highly entertaining story.

Like I said much of this story followed a more light-hearted plot, dealing with relationship drama. There was great tension between these two, some still corny lines and plenty of steam. Near the end we got to deal with the major drama between the two races, but like most romance everything comes together at the end. There are some great relationships, romantic and platonic, to explore in this world and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Happy Release Day!!!

First, I love that name...Killian. Second, I really enjoyed this book. Vampires and Werewolves that have a pretty believable mythos are a joy to read. This is the third book in the Dead in the City Series. I haven't read the first two, but was quickly caught up in the action here.

Sadie is happy running The Coven, a bar in Manhattan. Well, except for the fact that this pack of Werewolves comes in every night. She finally asks the very hot, very Alpha, very sexy Killian why. Her feelings are just a tad hurt when he says he's opening up a bar that just might also cater to the supernatural. When she finds out he might want to "borrow" her sizzling DJ, well, her feelings are REALLY hurt.

But that's before she's caught skinny dipping in his pool. While he's spying on her, he spots the mark on her shoulder, the one he's been dreaming out for decades. She's who he's been looking for and why he hasn't claimed a mate.

They certainly do have some chemistry! I enjoyed that a lot. What I didn't enjoy was the repetition of why they couldn't be together, and how he was supposed to be king in five years. I got it the first time, didn't need to read it for the umpteenth time. #NaNoWriMoSyndrome for sure.

Besides that pet peeve, I was very pleasantly surprised by a couple twists and tweaks that set this story ahead of the curve. Won't spoil it here, but yes, I liked those twists!

There are more characters that could use their own HEA, and I'll be on the lookout for more from this author.

*Thank you, NetGalley and Sourcebooks ~ Casablanca, for the opportunity to read this book

Now traditionally in fiction Vampires and Werewolves are usually enemies and if truth be told this book does build on that but there's an uneasy truce between the two races that enables limited interaction. Werewolf and heir to his fathers Throne Killian is in New York to open a club but he has been spending a lot of his time ( every night!) at the Vampire run club. Now officially he is just getting the lie of the land and a few pointers but who does he think he's kidding! Sadie the Vampire in charge draws him like no other but a shifter and a Vampire? Never going to happen.
Sadie is very much aware of the gorgeous Werewolf Killian and try as she might it's impossible to completely ignore him. The chemistry between them is hot, hot hot but one slip of the fang and oh boy is Sadie in trouble! The peace so well fought for cannot be broken and yet one very determined alpha male seems hell bent on throwing consequences aside. Sadie wants to remain business like and professional but that's all about to change.
Another winner from this author with it's mixture of romance, jealousy, lies and a huge betrayal. I particularly enjoyed the dialogue but the twists that the author came up with are fabulous. Lots of politics to cause problems not to mention those who really don't want peace between the races. My favourite moment? Well there's a rather embarrassing scene where the lovers get ehem shall we say caught?!! Loved it and so funny! Yes this book was an entertaining read and a great addition to the series. Well written and these are probably my favourite book covers ever. Loving the art! I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

I loved the back and forth between Sadie and Killian:
"Or did you come to try and steal my DJ again?" She tilted her chin in defiance and glared up at him triumphantly.
"Justine told you already?" Killian rose to his full height, his mouth set in a grim. "S***."
I loved Sadie she was a character that could hold her own, "how did you know I'd be here?" Her eyes flicked over him quickly. "And why are you naked." Killian was an interesting cocky character, "hardly." Killian held her fiery stare. "I have nothing against a threesome. In fact, I've enjoyed a few over the years and I can assure you - I'm the only male." Sadie can be soft and sweet where her man is concerned, "even with a pair of boxers covering it up, you have one fine-lookin' backside." I mentioned that I loved the back and forth between Sadie and Killian right?:
She asked quietly. "I mean...I kind of screwed you."
"Yes." Killian wiggled his eyebrows. "You did. Several times."
I enjoyed this book so much and I can't wait to see what the future holds for these characters and what the series has in store for us.

Really enjoyed this one ! Great steamy read and man o' man Killian was Delicious.

Everyone KNOWS New York is vampire territory, but apparently werewolf prince, Killian doesn’t really care! He has plans to open his own hot club, a club that will rival sexy Vamp Sara Humphreys. When scoping out the competition Killian gets more than he bargains for in Sadie, and to say ogling ensued would be an understatement. He may have just found his mate... and she is NOT were-kind. I really enjoyed this book, I have not read he first 2 in the series and it did not affect my enjoyment BUT I will be popping out to purchase them promptly!

Sadie Pemberton loves her freedom as much as she hates werewolves, but she bears the mark of the moon – the mark that’s meant to reveal Killian’s mate in this exciting paranormal romance. DaKota says that this is “one weird f****** family” and he might be right because the New York City Vamps have some interesting problems that are most definitely intriguing and they ensure that I have a great time each and every time I visit, so of course I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Vampires Never Cry Wolf is a beautifully written story. I enjoyed the calmness Killian showed in getting to know Sadie. He was a hero who knew what he wanted. He went after his mate in subtle and loving ways that captured her heart without showing his alpha strength. I love when alpha shifters are written properly. Killian is perfect and Sadie completes him as his mate. Great story.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 1, 2015

Sadie Pemberton is the DJ at the hottest vampire club in New York City, and she loves her freedom almost as much as she hates werewolves. She has no desire to tie herself to anyone for eternity—even the deliciously sexy Killian Bane—werewolf prince and heir apparent who has been sent to patrol the city.

But Sadie bears the mark of the moon—the mark that Killian has been looking for, the mark that's meant to reveal his perfect mate. How can the fates be so cruel? Even more importantly, how is he ever going to change her mind?

~~

REVIEW: 4 stars--VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is the third installment in Sara Humphreys’s adult, contemporary Dead in the City paranormal romance series. This is heir to the werewolf throne Prince Killian Bane, and vampire Sadie Pemberton’s-owner of the supernatural nightclub The Coven-storyline. We were first introduced to our leading couple in the previous storylines. Although VAMPIRES NEVER CRY WOLF is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information and history are revealed where necessary.

Told from alternating third person points of view the storyline follows Sadie and Killian’s building relationship as well as uncovering the identity of the person threatening Killian’s up and coming New York nightclub- The Loup Garou. As heir to the throne, thirty year old Killian must find a mate before his thirty fifth birthday but something about Sadie pulls at Killian’s heart. He has always dreamed about a beautiful woman with the ‘mark of the moon’ but mating with a vampire is forbidden-until the moment Killian sees a moon shaped scar on Sadie’s shoulder. What ensues is Killian’s pursuit of Sadie and Sadie’s need to push Killian away. Finding one’s bloodmate means losing the psychic connection with everyone in her family and coven. Sadie fears the loss of contact with her sire and progeny.

The relationship between Sadie and Killian is a story of forbidden love. Killian is immediately attracted to Sadie and pursues the woman under the guise of gathering information for his, as yet, unopened nightclub. Sadie knows that to drink from a werewolf is forbidden but her need increases with the bloodmate bond that ties our couple together. The sex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense.

Meanwhile, threatening letters against Killian and his club continue to pile up. When the latest note threatens physical violence, Killian and Sadie take matters up with the Presidium (ruling supernatural council) and an investigation unfolds into the who and why. It is not until Killian’s father goes missing does the need increase to put an end to the intimidation and menace.

The secondary and supporting cast includes the previous storyline couples -New York Coven Czars Doug and Olivia, and Maya and Shane, as well as Sadie’s friends and coworkers from ‘The Coven’. We are introduced to Killian’s guards Ivan and David, as well as a woman who believes she is Killian’s intended mate. Killian’s father is a bit of a surprise-not only is the man the most powerful in the werewolf kingdom but he knows a thing or two about love and finding one’s mate.

The world building continues to draw on the nightlife of The Coven; the vampires, the shifters and their tempestuous relationship. The waters are tepid; the alliance is on shaky grounds but the mating between Sadie and Killian may be the glue that holds everything together.

Sara Humphreys pulls the reader into a fascinating, complex and imaginative world of the supernatural. The writing style is engaging with a compelling and enjoyable plot-supernatural politics just became a little more confusing. Her stories will entertain, compel and arouse the curiosity in every lover of the paranormal romance. Sara’s stories are always a pleasure to read.

Sara Humphreys writes good books about vampires and shifters, and has two series to prove it. The fun part is, sometimes the two different species do show up in both series. Since I read both of these series, this book was a welcome one for me.

Sadie is a couple of hundred years old vampire, and is now the owner of The Coven, since the former owner, Olivia, is now the czar, along with her husband Doug, of New York City. Now that the prince of the werewolves, Killian, is spending every evening at Sadie’s nightclub, she spends a lot of her time wondering about him, and pretty much mooning over him. Not that she would admit it or anything. Killian’s excuse for hanging out there is for research for his own nightclub that will be opening soon. Actually he is very interested in Sadie for himself. Since he is heir to the throne, his family, and all of the werewolves would never allow him to have a vampire for his queen. Killian is really hating his legacy, because all he wants seems to be Sadie. Sadie still remembers the war that the vampires and werewolves waged against each other, so weres are really not her favorite thing, but even she can’t deny her feelings towards Killian.

Ms. Humphreys knows how to weave romance and suspense together like nobody’s business. Since all of these books, including her other, Amoveo series, usually have suspense involved, this is writing to her forte. Her other strength is in her world building. Her view of supernatural life is both entertaining, and a bit different then a lot of other authors. Of course some of it is similar, but I thought the Amoveo series was an interesting depiction of shifters, and I highly recommend those books to fans of shifter reads. At least a couple of the characters from those books have crossed over into this series. I always enjoy seeing characters from previous reads in a new book. In this series, the bloodmate bond, and the powers involved are what makes it more unique then other vampire reads.

Speaking of characters, I enjoyed getting to know Sadie and Killian better. The author’s back story for Sadie, and her turning to vampire back in the old West, was a pretty fascinating story. Now Sadie is a beautiful business woman, one that has never really loved anyone. Killian lives with all the expectations of being heir to the throne. He wants to be king, but he wants it on his terms, and that involves mating with someone he loves, and not someone that would be good for the throne. Another character is introduced, Christina. Every book needs a villain, and as the one the King wants Killian to marry, she’s a good one. And she is just one of the villains that was introduced into this series.

Good premise, good characters-each with an interesting back story, suspenseful elements, complicated romance, all make for a paranormal romance that I highly recommend to adult romance readers.(RabidReads.com)

My first introduction to this series and I’m wondering just how I missed it. What great fun, with supernatural creatures and some smexy moments, Sara Humphreys brought so many elements together in Vampires Never Cry Wolf, and did so with humor.

Sadie Pemberton owns the hottest nightclub in the city, The Coven, which also happens to be welcoming to all supernatural creatures. Killian Bane is heir to the werewolf kingdom, and has plans of opening his own club, The Coven is a great place for tips of the trade.

There’s just one problem: Sadie is a vampire and Killian is a werewolf. These two are genetically programmed to hate on sight. They’ll never trust or be loyal to one another, even though we know vamps have issues with that and weres are like two year olds with their toys, they don’t share.

But, Killian can’t stay away from Sadie, no matter how he tries, and he doesn’t understand it until she is skinny dipping in his pool, and he spots the mark on her shoulder. The mark he has dreamed of, that belongs to his fated mate. And it’s on her shoulder. Let the hijinks begin!

Not a romance made in heaven, but an odd twist of fate. Sadie won’t accept the entitled playboy who wants to hurt her business with his own club, and is royalty at that. While she had an inkling that he would be important to her, she isn’t ready or willing to open herself up to possibly destroying the fragile truce between their species for what is certain to be a doomed relationship. Killian is too confused – fate would have no reason to make something that should be so straightforward and easy for him this difficult. A vampire as his fated mate? Poor thing really needed a cookie and some quiet moments after that revelation sunk in.

You cannot, however, deny an attraction that is so magnetic, and fate wins after a hard-won series of battles as they learn to trust and believe in one another. Of course, they both acted on the attraction, why shouldn’t they? It was all part of figuring everything out.

Intermingled with the battle of wills (really, could there be two more stubborn creatures in close proximity?) is a series of wonderful secondary characters all waiting for more face time, serious laugh-out-loud humor, dialogue that could be overheard in a coffee shop (if you were that lucky) and a touch of intrigue to add some twists and turns that could cause major disruption.

I now am obligated to grab the first two books in this series – it’s a perfect addition to my paranormal collection of “read more than once” titles, and a great story in the series.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility

4.5/5 stars.

Every once in a while, I dare to read a book outside of my usual comfort zone. For example, urban fantasy and paranormal romance are not often books I read. That said, I absolutely loved this book. I was lured in with the promise of kick ass vampires, sexy werewolves, and nightclubs and all of those things definitely delivered.

This book is the third in a series, but can be read alone. I hadn't read the first two books in this collection, so this was my first introduction to this cast of characters. I loved them. Well, I liked them. I loved Killian. He is exactly what I look for in a romantic lead. He's strong, powerful, devastatingly handsome, and stubbornly loyal. He had me hooked from the first time that he set foot into Sadie's bar. Speaking of girls enamored by him, I really liked Sadie too. I thought she was strong and smart, though at times her pushing Killian away irritated me with how long it went on. Regardless, I loved them together and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them figure out their dangerous and forbidden relationship.

A relationship that is most definitely and satisfyingly sexual. I had never read Sara Humphreys' books before, but I will say that woman can write one hell of a sex scene. They were steamy and primal and helped to understand the lust (and blood lust) and passion that these two have for one another. These scenes were very well done.

I liked the world building as well. It was cool hearing about how the governments/societies of the paranormal creatures work. I'd love to go for a drink at either Loup Garou, the wolf club, or The Coven, the vampire club. The people and the places sound fascinating, and they are blended in well with the normal mortal world.

However, I do wish that the book didn't end so quickly. It felt a bit rushed. I loved the way it worked out, I just wish it would have dwindled a bit slower. I also wish that Killian's business partner, Christina, would have gotten more time in the book. I wanted to grow to hate her just a wee bit more.

I will definitely be checking out the first two books in this series, and I hope to see more of Killian and Sadie in the future. I recommend this to fans of vampires, werewolves, romance, sex, and forbidden love. This book contains sex and violence, so ye be warned.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for my copy in exchange for my honest review. This review can also be found on my blog, Bitches n Prose.

I am not sure why I wait to read anything by Ms. Sara Humphreys. Everytime I pick up a book of hers, I fall in love. Every. Friggin. Time. Today, I am celebrating.. I mean reviewing Vampires Never Cry Wolf. Book Three in her Dead in the City Series and once again, I was swept away.

We return to the New York and things are just getting interesting. In a world where vampires once ran single, it seems now they have to deal with those wolves. Yep, the wolves have chosen to stay in the city and it's making plenty of vamps nervous, edgy and just a tad uncomfortable.

Sadie Pemberton was turned on the cusp of womanhood over a hundred years ago. Her family was attacked in the wilds of Arizona and had not Olivia (Tall, Dark and Vampire) not found her and turned her, well Sadie would be dead as well. Over the years she has been obviously loyal to Olivia but is feeling a bit off these days. Olivia is the Co-Czar of New Your and Sadie has taken over the club. And that's hard enough but it seems like the wolves like to hang out in Sadie's bar and that is driving her crazy! Especially one particular Wolf, the actual prince.. sheesh when a girl goes crazy she goes totally crazy...

Killian Bane has dreamed of one woman his entire life. A woman with a moon shaped mark on her shoulder. He has refused to mate because he wants this mystery woman, which totally drives his father, the king, bonkers. He wants his son mated and prepared to take the throne! But Killian wants his freedom and is spending some time in New York. Most of his time at the Vampire club the Coven.. that sexy Sadie has captured his attention.. Making him forget any dreams he may have had. He wants Sadie at any cost.

A Vampire and a Wolf is not a good match as a matter of fact it's banned. Vamps are not supposed to even feed from wolves, sex is ok but a relationship? yeah not gonna happen. So when sexy Sadie finds herself falling for Killian.. things are gonna get interesting.

Of course politics are gonna mess with true love.. how can it not? Sara packs so many details into this book it was a can't put down read! I devoured this book.. each page bringing a new and total delight. Loyalties are tested, love is questioned and priorities realigned..

Thank you Sara for once again making me fall in love with those NYC Vamps!

This is the third book of Dead in the City series by Sara Humphreys and all I can say is this series really hooked me again in Paranormal-Romance!

This is Sadie's story. Olivia's best friend and oldest vampire who the latter turned to in their coven. Sadie became the new owner of their club The Coven that Olivia manage in the first and second book. Sadie still adopting her new position as the new owner when Killian, a crown prince in werewolf society who always came to her club which Sadie makes feel uncomfortable with since she has a past experience with the wolf centuries before the current time line. Killian was in New York because he's planning to open a club and Sadie is the one who can help him. And despite Sadie denial that she's attracted at first with Killian and so was the Werewolf prince.

All I can say about this book.. Well it's a good read. I like Sadie and Killian's story. They have an attraction that no one can stop or let's say even if Sadie denies her feeling there's nothing can stop it. Plus the further I read the story the more I knew more about Sadie like how Maya was a Black Gypsy descendant who can scare the shit out the werewolves and Killian kept that a secret. Olivia's past. Sadie's past is kinda sad coz her entire family killed by the werewolves and she didn't know that she was turned when Olivia found her and turned her into a vampire. Also the revelations that it's not the Apaches who killed her family which Olivia glamor her before she was turned and all her life that's the truth until the bloodmate with Killian. Sadie's hybrid condition was also shocking but since the bite of the werewolf can turn a human into a werewolf. I'm not surprised.

there's some scenes that makes me feel a little bit bored but the rest is more interesting. Also the Ivan, Killian's friend and bodyguard is not a shocking as the main antagonist in the story. The moment that Ivan was introduced I know that he's a bad guy but I can imagine Ivan's face when he found out that Sadie can transform into a werewolf. haha!

Killian's love is pure and he's a lovable prince. A Prince Charming indeed. Sadie's character makes me sometimes annoyed at her and sometimes amusing coz her straight of the fact attitude.

overall, it's a good book to read.

4.0 out 5 stars.

Great addition to the series!

Vampires Never Cry Wolf is the 3rd book in the Dead in the City series by Sara Humphreys. It features, Sadie, a vampire and Killian, a prince of the werewolves. An unlikely pairing, as vampires and werewolves are natural enemies. Though there is a truce between these two supernatural species, it is delicate and fraught with tension.

Killian and a couple of his wolf bodyguards have moved into the vampire run city of New York. He has plans to open a bar catering to supernatural beings and has been visiting Sadie’s bar, The Coven, often. What neither of them anticipated was the sizzling attraction burning between them. The will to resist can only hold them back for so long before their desires get the best of them.

I liked both Killian and Sadie as characters and I found their story to be sexy, charming and entertaining. They are an unlikely pairing to begin with but add in the fact that Killian is werewolf royalty, expected to mate with a werewolf, and things get even more complicated. I enjoyed how they fought against getting involved but ultimately their attraction and feelings overwhelmed their resistance.

Vampires Never Cry Wolf is well written with characters and a plot that engage your attention from the very beginning. I also enjoyed the secondary characters. Dakota in particular added a nice touch of humor. I really liked this story and I look forward to reading more books in the Dead in the City series.

Vampires Never Cry Wolf is a great read. I would happily recommend it and the entire Dead in the City series to fans of paranormal romance.

I received Vampires Never Cry Wolf in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Well, this was an interesting twist. ;) I love it when an author takes me by surprise.

I liked Sadie from the start, and even more as I got to know her. She’s adjusting to change. Some good, some questionable. She’s strong, witty and a loyal friend.

Killian isn’t exactly running away from the inevitable, he’s just stalling it a little. He knows that he needs to find his mate and take his place as King when his father retires, he just wants to do it on his terms.

In Killian and Sadie’s world, werewolves and vampires don’t get along. They’ve pretty much been enemies for as long as any of them can remember. The fences between the two are just starting to mend, but not enough for a relationship between a werewolf and a vampire to ever work, unless… You guessed it, that’s where the twist comes in and I’m not saying a word.

Vampires Never Cry Wolf is the 3rd book in Sara Humphreys’ Dead in the City series. Even though it’s the 1st book in the series I’ve read, I had no trouble keeping up. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to go back and read the previous books in the series though. Just because I know I’ll love the characters even more once I get to know them better.

Besides the books in the Dead in the City series, I have some serious back-reading to do. This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Sarah Humphreys. Eons ago I read The Amoveo Legacy. Since then it’s become the Amoveo Legend and there are at least 6 books in that series. Dead in the City is a spinoff series from those books. So yeah, I’ve just added a whole lot of books to my ever growing TBR pile. *sigh*

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review via Netgalley

The cover is what attracted me to this book….very sexy and intriguing :)

Okay this is my first time reading Sara Humphreys and WOW, I’m not sure how I have missed her work up until this time :) She pulled me right into the story and I didn’t want to put it down. I was very annoyed when I had to stop to make dinner…lol! The order on this series does not matter, but I bet it helps you connect with the series better if you do. I will definitely be in the market for more books by Sara when I have the money especially to read the first two books in this series. I also really want to read The Amoveo Legend series too :)

Alrighty :) Sadie is amazingly snarky and strong female lead….just the way I like it :) I love when she is honest and puts a certain sexy Alpha Prince in his place ;) I also love Killian though he is everything I’d want in a sexy shifter. He puts Sadie first and goes all caveman to protect her and worry about her. She has had lots of changes and surprises in this book, but as always, you must read it to know more because I never want to ruin someone else’s book experience :)

I highly recommend to paranormal romance fans especially if you are already a fan of Sara. I also think if you love Lynsay Sands, Kerrelyn Sparks, and Christine Feehan that you really need to add Sara Humphreys to the list :)

Humphreys’ in your face, personal, at times almost belligerent writing style suited this story perfectly. It puts readers right in line with the main character’s thinking and personality. It was spot on and something that I found infinitely enjoyable. There is also a subtle intensity that winds its way through the story, pulling readers in. Humphreys also writes this story in such a manner that it can be read as a standalone but also ties in to the series as a whole.

All of the characters in this novel were so well developed that I felt as if I’d personally met them, rather than simply reading about them. Everyone was so real & larger than life, yet at the same time utterly believable. Humphreys definitely brought the paranormal into the real world with these characters, giving the entire story an extra element of believability. The concept of coven telepathy and bloodmates was intricately developed and I found that it really added to the story (and the characters) for me. Just the notion that it was possible was fantastic.

I thoroughly enjoyed Humphreys’ take on the paranormal and romance. She may just become my new go-to author for a steamy, exciting paranormal read.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

I had a lot of fun reading this one. Sadie was a great character. A vampire and owner of one of the city's hottest night clubs takes up a lot of her time - and now that a pack of werewolves has come to town (and her nightclub) she's getting a little annoyed at them. Vampires and werewolves don't really get along. But since one of those wolves, Killian, is the werewolf prince, she has to play nice.

This was a great relationship to watch grow. The verbal sparring and banter was so much fun! You knew they really liked each other and were just putting on a show - but it was a good one. Killian is everything I ever wanted from a werewolf prince. He is all Alpha and all Male and he knows he wants Sadie. If she wants to make it a challenge to catch her - well, that's even more fun.

In the background we have the tentative truce between the species and a handful on each side that doesn't care for it. Also, Sadie is starting to feel a bit weird after taking a sip from Killian - totally loved how this part of the story worked. The only minor disappointment was the werewolf king, Killian's father. He's been hyped up as the super bad-ass and then I just didn't get that from him - AT ALL. Minor complaint, but he had a fairly serious part near the end of the story.

So far this is my favorite book in the series. We get to learn more about the sexy werewolves (heck yeah!). Killian Bane is the prince of the Werewolves and oh so sexy. He's also not really an option to someone like vampire Sadie Pemberton. Sadie's been around the block a few centuries so not dummy. She knows how things work. And there's just no way to make anything work with a man like Prince Killian.

Killian on the other hand just can't seem to stay away from the gorgeous vampire. He's supposed to be openign up his own night club in NY for weres, and finding a mate to settled down with. Wife, kids, leadership. Sounds great right? But why can't he stop dreaming about the beautiful woman with moonlit skin and a the mark of the full moon on her shoulder?

What I liked most about this book was that Sadie and Killian's story was so different to Olivia's and Maya's. Sometimes in a series things tend to be a little formulaic (for lack of a better term). But this was really and truly as unique as the characters. That bodes very well for the rest of the series. I feel confident that each couple will be given a story all their own, not a remake of someone else's. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Would I reread this book? Yes
Would I recommend this book to a friend? Yes

BRAVO.... I must admit, I wasn't sure how a Kellian and Sadie could overcome the difference they faced from the start. But the more I read the more I found myself hoping for them too. Sometimes it's hard to get POV from both characters that leaves you with no mistake understanding but I didn't have a problem with this story. I enjoyed the playful banter between the characters which was part of the reason I fell hard for this couple. I enjoyed the dynamic of story and can see more and more story lines developing which I absolutely love. I hope that Killian is not the last werewolf/vampire love pairing we get to read about. I finished the book in record time of just about a day. I just couldn't resist the pull of their story even as I took my kids out to the movies last night. I pretended to check my phone just to get another fix of this story. haha Many thanks to Mrs. Humphreys for allowing me the privilege to get my hands on another great story. And once again I feel the urge to re read the other books in this series again just for another taste. Which I will do now. xoxo

Sadie (a 200 year old vampire) has just taken over the running of the hottest vampire club in Manhattan 'The Coven'. The club is getting more and more frequent visits from a group of werewolves recently in town. Killian the werewolf prince has set his sights on Sadie, even though vampires and werewolves do not normally mix, their attraction and desire for each other is really strong. Will Sadie give in to her desires?

I really love a good vampire, werewolf, shifter book and whilst this one had it all I found it quite slow and a bit repetitive to begin with, however once the story got going and took shape I really couldn't put it down. Wow what an ending and I love that it's a standalone book too ! All in all, a great easy read, with love romance and suspense.
