im very surprised this doesn't have billions of reviews on here! genuinely an instant favourite for me, such a captivating and intricately threaded collection. it is rare to read something that is so precise, esp in poetry. you really feel like every line is meaningful, every word is carefully considered within the wider context of the work. im excited for when this is one day considered a classic
This is a book-length poem by a Palestinian poet. It addresses many of the complex issues on the lives of Palestinians over generations - loss of their homeland, their perpetual "less than" status, scattered families, permanent violence, and much more. I read this in a single day which is perhaps the best way to appreciate it.
