His Next Chapter

Rate this book
Lukas Everett is Avery Parker’s new reclusive landlord. He’s gorgeous but damaged, as damaged on the outside as Avery is on the inside. A car accident that killed his wife left him with physical scars that cause him to hide from the world. Avery hasn’t had it easy in her few physical relationships and isn’t looking to get involved with anyone let alone someone as cold and hard as Lukas. Lukas seems just as intent at keeping her at bay even though she knows he feels the same longing she feels. With her mind telling her to run and her body begging her to stay Avery accepts his job offer. She discovers that Lukas doesn’t just own properties but is hiding behind a pen name as a popular writer that she herself has enjoyed. It isn’t long before Avery demands all the passion she sees in Lukas but will she just be the next chapter in his story or will they find their own happy ending?

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.
I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn't long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn't sleep without the light on until I was about ten.
I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.
I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I've gotten better and now I'm writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.
As a plus size woman myself, I have started writing the stories I always wanted to see myself in but never did. And now I'm ecstatic to give BBWs the happily ever afters with hot Alphas they so rarely get.

nice story

This is a nice story and a quick read. although it was a little claustrophobic for me. I totally get immersed in the story, and most of this story takes place inside a tiny studio-style attic apartment. That was the only thing that bothered me. A great love story, though, and don't of hot sexy time scenes 😜

Just OK...

This was a super fast, drama free read. I just feel like I am missing something. I can't put my finger on what it is though.

Two characters with different scars -- one physical, one emotional -- that meet to heal each other's wounds in this sizzling hot novella. Emotional yet erotic, sexy yet sweet, heart-tugging hope-filled page-turning story.

Avery is a complex woman. On the outside, she's got a great package -- one that either attracts unwanted sexual attention from men or attracts envy/competition from heterosexual women. On the inside, she feels empty. She has learned to rely upon herself for many things and in many situations.

Lukas, her landlord, holds people at a distance because of the abrupt loss of his wife that left him physically scarred. Fireworks sizzle between him and Avery and the two learn about how to lean on the other and heal together.

A dark and aloof landlord and a tenant that couldn't pay her rent until he comes up with a solution for both of them. What is not to like, I've made it sound sordid but it really isn't, the story is far too sweet for that.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was the way Avery went on and on about how beautiful she was. That kind of arrogance is not attractive though I get that the author was probably trying to make a contrast between Avery and Lukas but the way it was done was too much.

I admit that I love a sexy read and this book is no disappointment!

It's filled with sexy scenes that are there to titilate and tantalize, but there is also a good background story too. With the memories of his dead wife and still wearing the physical as well as mental scars of the accident, I really liked the way that Avery had to draw out the reclusive Lukas until he just couldn't resist her.

It's not a full length book but more than a short story and is just perfect for an afternoon of raunchy reading.

Next... please

I don't like to give bad reviews but this book wasn't great. maybe my copy didn't come with all the chapters??? I feel like I missed so much. It seemed to skip parts of the story that were very important. I can't explain really but feel like I wasted my time on this one.

Love this book. Author Fiona Murphy wove quite an interesting plot with unique characters you won't soon forget. I don't like to give out any spoilers, so I will just say this one is a must-read. I was lucky to have received an Advanced Reader copy. I highly recommend if you are a fan of hot erotica.

This is a quick, sexy, read about the relationship of Avery and Lukas. The author has them coming up with creative ways to solve the age old problem, no money, but plenty of sex. It moves along at a rapid pace and I was a bit disappointed when I was done. I was so into it.

A short but quite satisfying read
His Next Chapter is an erotic novella with a very interesting plot and less than perfect but dynamic characters whose love affair set my Kindle on fire. Read and enjoy.
