Driven Daddy

Rate this book
Insulting my dream woman five minutes after the hottest hookup of my life was not how I thought today was going to go.From lovers to enemies, we find ourselves fighting more than making up. But man, when we do make up the whole house is on fire. Okay, so it's a cottage on the lake.

In the town I grew up in.

The same town I thought I left in my rearview when I answered New York City's siren call.

Now I'm back trying to figure out how I went from top of my game as a graphic novelist, to failing businessman.

Maybe the key to both is where I began.

Just when I started to get my feet under me, surprise! The hot hookup gave me a brand new project to explore. I just have to convince the woman of my dreams I'm not the nightmare she thinks I am.

And I have to learn how to write a happily ever after for all three of us.

Author's Who knew pitting two authors against one another would cause so many sparks? The road to forever doesn't go smoothly when these two go from lovers to enemies, then back to lovers, but Penn Masterson is a goal-oriented guy, and Rita Savage is worth all the effort. Driven Daddy is a standalone romantic comedy with a happily-ever-after ending and no cliffhanger.

**I received this ARC in exchange for a honest voluntary review** Two engaging characters to add to the growing population of Crescent Cove. They both come from different backgrounds but Penn just has a way with learning & reading Rita, even though, the first time they meet, he puts his foot so far down his throat. Former characters of course continue the world building of the Cove as well new characters we will surely come to know & love.

Adorably sweet and entertaining, Driven Daddy was pulling my heartstrings into a gooey chocolate confection from page one to the very end.

After the worst year ever, Rita Savage decided it was time to get out of New York and take some personal time to get herself together. Writing romance was her passion and she was afraid she was losing it. Then an unexpected hookup with the insanely gorgeous man she kept seeing around town leads to her overhearing comments that stir her worst fears. She just didn’t expect it to be from the man that rocked her world minutes before.

New York had called to Penn Masterson years ago but it seemed lately it wanted to chew him up and spit him out. Now he’s returned to his small hometown for a brief time to try and get his head together and figure out if he can save his business. Then Penn manages to screw up the most incredible moments of his life and he isn’t sure he can fix it.

Penn will have to learn patience with Rita as her past has left deep scars. Once they find themselves working toward a similar goal it could lead to a happy ever after for them all.

I received an ARC and freely offer this review.

Welcome back to Crescent Cove - I will never tire of saying that because I LOVE this series so much!!!

New to town is Rita Savage, a romance author who has just split from her writing partner. Rita is sassy, feisty, and so incredibly strong. She's someone I can understand and could feel her fear and insecurities. Enter Penn Masterson. He's back home for a family dinner and an author signing. He, too, is an author but of graphic novels. He oozes charm, but he's also oh so sweet and romantic. He's taken with Rita at first glimpse.

Once again, Taryn Quinn (may they never, ever go their separate ways!) has woven together a story that just pulls you in from the first page until the very last word. Rita and Penn were meant to find each other. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they see each other. They play off each other, and together, they can build their HEA.

This is a really good one. It has everyday worries and life situations. Penn and Rita make us all feel normal. The lovin is steamy too. I also truly enjoy the behind the scene information that’s shared on how a writer or artist deals with the story and time management. I read it from beginning to end without stopping. Loved it!!!!!

Loved Driven Daddy!!
This is a tale of second chances after your dreams get sideswiped and everything is in a state of flux. Rita, romance writer extraordinaire, escapes to Crescent Cove to heal and rebuild herself and subsequently catches the eye of Penn, a creative genius in a similar yet different field. Sparks fly, encounters are heated, words are exchanged and many plans ensue.
The waters of Crescent Cove work their own magic as do the bonds of family.
Yet another wonderful addition to this series.

Driven Daddy by Taryn Quinn was another good story in the Crescent Cove series which I absolutely love. Penn and Rita’s first meeting did not go smoothly as Penn accidentally insulted her, but beneath that was an attraction they could not deny. It took awhile for Rita to open up to Penn and he showed her that she belonged in Crescent Cove. I enjoyed following their journey to HEA.

After a disastrous breakup with her writing partner, romance author Rita needs to start over, so moves to a quaint small town, Crescent Cove. Little does she know that not only is love waiting for her there, but the town is famous for its er magical waters that have its ranks overrun with surprise babies. She and Penn just may be the latest couple to drink that water, but they have their work cut out for them to overcome Penn's inadvertent insult right after their first sizzling encounter.

Penn may have accidentally insulted Rita right after their hookup, but he's going to spend the rest of his life making it up to her - if she'll let him. He's going to take every advantage he can to stay in her life, thank God for the town that seems to be saturated with very fertile vibes, because now he's got two people to love.

Two authors strangers turned lovers turned enemies back to lovers. What's not to love?! Rita is such a relatable character, someone whose heart had been broken and her trust destroyed by her former partner. Then she meets a man she connects with, then he insults her?! I just wanted to hug her, but she handled herself with grace and endears herself to not only Penn but his family and friends and everyone else in Crescent Cove. Their chemistry is positively sizzling, and Penn very deliciously manages to redeem himself with the woman he fell head over heels for. I love Crescent Cove, all the shenanigans, all the love, and the magical waters that bring them so many babies. I'm seriously excited for Travis to fall in love next, when Second Chance Baby releases.

DRIVEN DADDY is the seventeenth instalment in Taryn Quinn’s contemporary, adult CRESCENT COVE erotic, romance series. This is graphic novel artist/designer Penn Masterson, and romance author Rita Savage’s story line. DRIVEN DADDY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary

Told from dual first person perspectives (Penn and Rita) DRIVEN DADDY follows the building romance and relationship between ours story line couple. Rita Savage is struggling in the wake of her writing partner’s abrupt departure and betrayal. Leaving New York for some R&R in Crescent Cove, Rita will come face to face with graphic novel writer and hometown boy Penn Masterson, the man with whom Rita will fall in love. Penn is hoping to start his own independent publishing house, and when an opportunity present, Penn is determined to bring Rita along for the ride. Rita is determined to take control of her career but Crescent Cove’s reputation is about to hit our couple when they least expect it.

The world building follows Rita’s need to move forward on her own. Betrayal from her previous co-author continues to hit Rita as the weeks go buy but Independence means working alone, something with Rita is all too familiar. Penn Masterson comes from a large close knit family, and Crescent Cove is about to welcome home our hero, and the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Rita and Penn begins acrimoniously when Penn makes a derogatory comment about Rita’s chosen profession. Struggling to move on from another perceived betrayal, Rita finds herself falling for a man who may or may not be staying for long. The $ex scenes are impassioned and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters include Penn’s business partner Larsen McCade, businessman Asher Waniwright, as well as several hometown regulars including Penn’s brother Travis and his ex Bridget.

DRIVEN DADDY is a story of heart break and betrayal, family and relationships, friendships, and love. The premise is inviting and realistic; the characters are sassy, animated and honest; the romance is edgy and tender.

Welcome back to Crescent Cove, NY, the town where I not so secretly wish that I lived. Brought to life by the awesome duo that write as Taryn Quinn, the Cove is rocking its usual fabulousness. Seventeen books in, and this place is as special as it was the first time around.

What is it about the sexy creative types? The artists, the guys that you might not have noticed in early days, but that have completely come into their own and found their groove as they get older. Like Penn Masterson. Hometown boy done well, he's the creative force behind one of the most popular graphic novels around and now a publisher to boot. Home for a combination of family and professional time, he's not really looking for a distraction. But distracted he is, by the lovely and mysterious Rita Sparks, a creator in her own right. Fresh from a break-up with her co-writing bestie, Rita is newly arrived in the Cove and looking to find herself in the fallout.

There is not a book that Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn write that is not an immediate must-read for me, and if it's in the Crescent Cove/Turnbull/Kensington Square world, special love. DRIVEN DADDY had me from Page 1, per usual, and I could not get enough of this story. Add in the characters and places that we know and love from earlier books, and this one goes right to the top of my recent favorites.

If you still have not started this series, you must. Witty, sexy, fun, the ladies bring it all in these books. And no, you don't have to start at the beginning, but they're all amazing, so why wouldn't you? Dive in right now. You will be a fan forever, I guarantee. ❤️

We are back home in Crescent Cove - You will LOVE this series so much!!!

We meet Rita Savage, a romance author who has travelled to Crescent Cove after dissolving her partnership with her writing partner. Rita is a tattooed, sassy, feisty, brilliant but slightly insecure woman. She's is working on her insecurities and moving to the Cove for a couple of months is her first step. She even manages to get stopped by Penn's brother Christian, a sheriff as she ENTER'S the Cove !!

Then, there's Penn Masterson. He's back home for a family dinner and an author signing.
He is an author of graphic novels and burgeoning publisher. He is cocky, over confident and just oozes charm and sex appeal. He's gets one glimpse of Rita in town and bang, he's smitten. Now just he has to convince Rita to take a chance on him. Unfortunately, he suffers from a serious case of "foot in mouth disease", every time he is around her. He just cannot stop messing up.

Once again, we are brought on a rollercoaster ride of emotions from cringing as Penn messes up to feeling thrilled as Rita feels the connection and warmth of the Masterson family. Rita and Penn are destined to be together. Throw in Rita realising that her writing partner has cheated her, Penn having printing issues, both of them feeling insecure at different times, each of the Masterson brothers ribbing Penn about Rita, Penn's mother fangirling over Rita (she's a BIG fan) and a whole load of the usual suspects from Crescent Cove turning up at some stage during the book and you have another fantastic book, which I for one could not put down. .

Another hit girls, can't wait for the next one.

I love the Crescent Cove books and Driven Daddy is a great addition to this stellar series! Driven Daddy is a complete standalone but does have some spoilers, as fan-favorite characters from books past make appearances throughout. The story is emotional, swoony, funny, and exactly what you expect from the dynamic duo behind Taryn Quinn.

Penn Masterson (yes, of THE C.C. Masterson family!) and Rita Savage are a hoot! These two authors get off to quite the start, with sparks flying all over the place. Both are dealing with some life-changing situations and are trying to navigate through them. They meet after seeing each other around town and things heat up quickly when they get locked in a storage room. Talk about explosive! But Penn puts his foot in his mouth in the biggest way and things take a turn for the worse. Can they work through their differences to find their happily ever after?

What I love about this story is how relatable the characters are. They've experienced hardship, betrayal, hurt, and so much more. But they work through their pasts and their present to better their situations. With the help of Penn, Rita becomes a better version of the person she was when she first showed up in Crescent Cove. And, with the help of Rita, Penn realizes that planting roots is exactly what he never knew he needed.

With the normal witty banter, laughs, scorching chemistry, and sexy times, Driven Daddy is the perfect read. I loved everything about this story. And, of course, since this is Crescent Cove, you KNOW there are many "unexpected" things afoot. Don't miss this one! 5 stars

Driven Daddy: A Small Town Lovers to Enemies Romance (Crescent Cove Book 17) is between Penn Masterson, a Crescent Cove homeboy who left home for New York and became a famous graphic novelist and romance author Rita Savage, who arrived in Crescent Cove, heal up after the disastrous dissolving her previous author partnership in court. They first meet at a bookstore, then later again while enjoying a hot chocolate at Brewed Awakenings and a few other locations throughout town. When they both end up in the back room at the bookstore and have a very private, spicey moment that leaves them both sighing. Every Line Tells a Story is the same bookstore where they both will participate in a book signing event with famous graphic artist Ryan Moon. However, neither of us realized that at the time, Penn Masterson would not have made derogatory remarks about romance author Rita Savage and her audience of readers. The moment he realized his horrible mistake that Rita was who he had a secret tryst in the back room, and she had quite a line of fans who wanted her signature, it was too late. In the spirit of one-upping each other, a joint workshop for writers was to be raffled off despite the apparent toxicity and angst between them. The story that emerges from passion-filled moments to falling in love is timeless. The Taryn Quinn duo authors pull off the magic of a perfect read with every book they write, including Driven Daddy, book 17 in the Crescent Cove series.

Penn and Rita and awesome in this book! They have this instant chemistry, but they are also complex and complicated with their own individual issues. And those issues have affects on their actions in ways that I wasn't expecting. But Penn is this stand up man that doesn't hesitate to face what he messes up and make up for it. The sparks in this book...they are off the chart and these two are just super hot! Beyond belief!! I loved that they have something in common vs just complimenting each other. And I loved that they had a connection beyond just the physical. I definitely enjoyed this one!

When I want to escape in a story, I run and pick up a Taryn Quinn Crescent Cove book. I know that it will make me laugh, tear up, yell, cheer and Driven Daddy does not disappoint! Graphic novelist Penn Masterson is home to visit his family. He's having issues with his latest work as well as his publishing house. Hopefully time visiting his family will help him get his head on straight. Romance writer Rita Savage has had an awful year. Her career was thriving until an unexpected roadblock was thrown in her way and she's been struggling to find her new normal. She comes to Crescent Cove for two things, a break from the city and a charity project. What she doesn't expect to find is a hot guy popping up in her path all over this quaint town. From the moment Penn lays his eyes on Rita he knows that there's something special about her and he needs to know more. When opportunity strikes, he makes his move but then screws up big time. These two are great together but they need to think before they speak if they want a chance at a real relationship. And don't forget, they're in the Cove and if you're a reader of this series, you know what that means! Driven Daddy was told from dual POV and stands alone but multiple characters from previous books are mentioned so if you haven't read those, do yourself a big favor and check them out.

Driven Daddy was a great addition to this series and I found the two characters intriguing and their connection undeniable. Both characters are at a bit of a crossroads in their careers; Rita just dissolved a partnership with her writing partner and is struggling to get back in the swing thus her decision to leave NYC and rent a cabin in Crescent Cove and Penn is “back home” for a book signing at a local store and to try and figure out a way to save his struggling publishing company he started to help authors such as himself retain more of the profits from their work. I loved that Penn was so taken with Rita from the first moment he saw her though Rita was very prickly and with good reason. I would have loved more background on Rita; while some was shared I felt like it was glossed over which was a disappointment. I appreciated that Penn after putting his foot in his mouth at the very worst time, began to understand that life had not been kind to Rita and he worked hard to prove he not only understood but would be by her side. I loved watching Rita blossom as she began to feel accepted and revered even by the people in town and how she worked to form friendships and accept that people wanted her in their lives.

I really never tire of revisiting The Cove and the other worlds these authors have built; the books are an escape into a world we’d all like to live in.

I really enjoyed this latest installment in the Crescent Cove Universe. Serious steam heat from the get-go, but insta-lust develops into a charming HEA romance. Hero Penn and Heroine Rita are both published authors and the backdrop to this story provides an interesting insight into the trials and tribulations of writing/publishing graphic novels and romance series, even when you have already experienced some success in your field.

Loved the authors pulled in other characters from the CC Universe like Asher Wainwright (from CEO Daddy) and Nolan Devereaux (Daddy by Design) who was rebuilding the Trick or Treat Store, etc. It was also heartwarming to reconnect with some very familiar shopkeepers, and of course everyone is drinking Brothers Three Orchard Cider. You don’t need to have read all the books in the series, but these cross reference easter eggs and interactions with known characters, add to the feeling of affectionate familiarity and community, and every story in this extended series feels like coming home.

Excited there seems to be lots of potential for future romances for newly introduced characters, especially Larsen and Colette, the best friends of Rita and Penn. Bruce the dog was adorable and stole every scene he was in.

Thank you to the dynamic duo of Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn for another amazing read!!!
Rita is a romance author who has had a very rough year. Her and her writing partner have now gone their separate ways and she has barely left her apartment for months. She needs an escape from life in NYC for a while and rents a cabin on the lake in a small upstate town called Crescent Cove. A town where everyone knows each other, and their business. And what's with all the kids and babies???? A mystery man keeps appearing where ever she goes and he is very nice eye candy.
Penn is a graphic novelist who decides to go back to his home town to do a book signing and finds the woman of his dreams that he keeps running into. After another accidental meeting, in a storage closet, they both let loose on their attraction to each other. After that encounter Penn kinda hits a few sore spots with Rita and things go South fast!
Excellent read with many of the characters from The Crescent Cove books back that get involved in their story. Great fun, laughs, and OMG the smoking hot pages of this read!!!! LOVED IT!!!!

It is so good to be home in Crescent Cove! Penn Masterson has come home for the family dinner and for some much needed mental reset and to do an author signing while in town. What he didn't plan on was seeing a woman that peaked his interest in the most fundamental way. When he tries to follow her he gets sidetracked and she disappears. However, their paths keep crossing. Rita Savage has retreated to Crescent Cove after a very difficult year that ended with the dissolution of her writing partnership. She shows up at her rental with virtually nothing and embraces the Cove and when she sees a man looking at her she is intrigued but wary but they keep crossing paths. Those paths intertwine and when Penn puts his foot in his mouth, as usual, Rita runs, but Penn works hard to win her trust. After all, we all know what happens in Crescent Cove when two people come together...

This is a standalone book but there are so many residents from previous books who have cameos and it is wonderful! Welcome back to the Cove!

Rita had a crap year. The absolute worst. She split from her best friend/writing partner of a zillion years in a courtroom drama that left scars. What better place to lick her wounds than an idyllic cabin in Crescent Cove?

Penn is also author, of graphic novels, and is visiting his hometown for a short time to try to regroup and figure out how to save his publishing company.

They are both taking part in a book signing, and in trying to avoid the crowds in the front of the store, go in the back door and get locked into a storage room where they share an, ahem, intimate moment. When they're finally liberated from the locked room, Penn steps in it by insulting romance writers, not realizing Rita is one.

That starts a tumultuous relationship that turns to romance, trust, and love. And, because of where they are, well, you can guess what else.

Driven Daddy is the 17th Crescent Cove book, standalone with a HEA ending, and is told in dual POV. You don't want to miss this one!

After a Truly disastrous breakup with her writing partner, romance author Rita Savage needs to recuperate and start over. so she moves to a small town, Crescent Cove. Penn Masterson has come home to Crescent Cove to work on his web Comic and his new publishing company. The two meet and fire erupts. Quickly doused by his voiced contempt for Ritas genre. they have their work cut out for them to overcome Penn's inadvertent insult right after their first sizzling encounter.

Two authors go from lovers to enemies and back to lovers. Rita is a relatable character, someone whose heart had been broken and her trust destroyed by her former partner. Then she meets a man she connects with, then he insults her? Their chemistry sizzles, how they overcome their problems, her confidence in her writing after such a deep betrayal, her belief in him. Penn's problems with his press, and overcoming his gross insult of Rita work is handled very capably by the authors. Well worth the purchase.

I am totally here for Rita and Penn!

This book set off at a gallop! At first it was strangers capturing brief glimpses. Then it became a fantasy come to life, only to hear the needle scratch. How quickly it all come falling apart a moment later. This book was a rollercoaster from the start and I was happy to see where it would take me!

A chance encounter in a locked back room of a bookstore turned explosive for graphic artist Penn and romance author Rita. That is until a misstep by Penn caused it to crash and burn. Insulting a romance author’s craft right in front of them is definitely not going to end up with a round two.

I loved how Penn fought to make it back into Rita’s life and helped a broken and lonely soul learn to trust in love and friendship again. These two were super steamy, but also very heartwarming at the same time.

One never gets tired of the happenings in Cresent Cove.
Penn has returned to the Cove for a book signing and family dinner. He has a lot on u8s mind with the publishing company posshave financial issues because of the cost of printing.
Rita is coming to the Cove for a photo reshoot and to start anew after a life changing event.
These two meet briefly but the chemistry is there.
We get great background information on these two. They come from completely different worlds in childhood but they share some common feelings.
Penn needs to show Rita he is being real with her and won't just walk away. Rita needs to find the ability to trust.
All the normal stuff that happens in the Cove happens here as well.
Penn and Rita are very likeable characters.

Rita is a romance author who split from her writing partner at the beginning of the year (not by her choice). She's been in hiding for most of the year trying to recover from the loss. She was her best friend too or so she thought. Rita decides to spend some time in Crescent Cove and hopefully get her writing mojo back.

Penn is a well-known author who's trying to get his own publishing company going but is having trouble getting things printed. They run into each other and Penn is immediately taken with Rita. They keep seeing each other until one day sparks are flying. But no sooner do the sparks fly then Penn makes a horrible off-handed remark and Rita is crushed.

Will Penn be able to recover? This was a great read!

I loved this story of: Two authors, Rita Savage and Penn Masterson that end up in a small lake town in New York. She writes romance and he writes bout action stories and draws the panels. He’s the hometown guy and she’s hiding out. Both are popular within their own genre of work. He dissed on romance and on comes the fun banter and enemies to lovers.

It also includes found family, fun supporting characters, a grand gesture, and the Crescent Cove fertility.

It’s part of a long interconnected series about the town of Crescent Cove and nearby The are standalone books that may be read out of order or storing with a later one and reading the back stories later. This story is one of my favorites of the series.

This was sooo touching. Lots of touching. Damn Penn is something else. He so gets Rita it it ridiculous. Happy tears at the end. Really looking forward to more on Travis & Bridget - they have had their ups and downs for sure.

Rita and Penn hit it off before they knew who each other were. Funny how they were drawn to each other with just a look. The hottest make out session when they'd barely said their first names, and Penn hadn't!

Wonderful that these two have a link in writing. Surprisingly, they learned more about each other due to their writing, differnt genre but they each put so much into their writing.

Loved the workshop. Great eye opener!!

DRIVEN DADDY is the seventeenth in the delightful Crescent Cove series co-written by Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn. Romance author Rita Savage and graphic novelist Penn Masterson meet with some immediate attraction and then clash horribly during a multi author signing at Crescent Cove’s charming book and gift shop.

Taryn Quinn works their magic again as Penn figures out how to remove his size 12s from his mouth and Rita learns she can maybe find a few other people worth trusting herself with. Loved getting swept away with this book- and writing-loving duo and the ever changing landscape of publishing. Can’t wait to return to this special town again soon!

Oh my. The enemies to lovers trope could not be any hotter than this book. Even when they argue, the heat level is off the charts. I loved each of them and the story line they created. Rita is a woman who is learning a new normal. Her life before was a partnership now is a solo career. Her struggle is real along with some truths that come to life to be lies.
Penn is also struggling with a new normal. His path has been slightly different but no less traumatic for him. His new life means a new business that he must navigate.
When the two of them collide, it’s poetry in motion. Really bad poetry at first but it becomes beautiful.

Romance writer finds romance

Penn Masterson, on a trip home to see his family in Crescent Cove, is smitten by a beauty in the local bookstore. He doesn’t know who she is, but she keeps popping up. After royally messing up, he finds out who she is, and now has to try to win back Rita’s approval. Fate must be on his side, because they are both writers and are signed up to do a writers workshop together. The more time they spend together, the closer they get. And the of course, the Crescent Cove water gets them too. Cute story. I love how they introduced some new characters, including some who had only been mentioned briefly in past books. What a fun world.

HOT HOT HOT!!!!!! Penn & Rita are so good together! Penn sees Rita through the store window & is instantly attracted to her. He rushes into the store to meet her & she disappears before he has a chance to talk to her. They are both facing crisis situations in their lives & when they finally do meet they click. Love how they grow together & then there's the whole crescent cove community & extended family to support them. Love all the Crescent Cove books - looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I love a small town romance and this series gives me all those great vibes. Rita and Penn have an intense connection, have a ton of heat, yet things go a bit sideways. The story is light and funny, mixed in with moments that touched my heart. The ups and downs between them keep the pages turning. They have great friends and family, and I love those little visits with characters we've loved in the past. I'm looking forward to more from this series.
