Romeo Estrada is danger and temptation all rolled into one and something I didn’t even know I needed. - Kendall Murphy
Sixteen years ago he ruined my life. And every day since, I’ve been trying to wipe his existence from my mind. But even though my hatred for him runs deep, when it comes to family, there’s nothing thicker than blood. And being on the other side of the world still wasn’t far enough away for him to find me.
I didn’t ask for much; just a distraction. Something simple to deflect my scattered mind from all the negative voices that force a bottle into my hand.
I just didn’t expect her. She’s the girl next door, and way WAY too inexperienced for me.
But when she asks me to be her fake boyfriend—for just one weekend—I know I shouldn’t. But there is something about her that calls to me. So I make one no touching—nothing inside the hotel room.
It’s simple, yet impossible, because I crave her in a way that terrifies me. I want to possess her; mold her into something she’s too pure to understand. But I refuse to be the destroyer of her innocence; to hurt her in the way my father hurt my mother.
As the lines between us become more and more blurred, I must Do I protect her from my legacy of pain, or drag her into my world?
Innocent Eyes is a gritty, contemporary romance with frequent foul language and explicit mature scenes. It is intended for readers over the age of 18. Though it is not the darkest of stories, it can be emotionally heavy at times. Please check the trigger warnings before diving in.
J j asher did it again.... I loved these two characters, romeo and kendall so much. ❤️ kendall is the virgin ex olympian who asks romeo to go to a fundraising event with as her fake boyfriend. The fake dating turns into irresistible pining and lust. Romeo had a difficult childhood. He wants to protect and guard the ones he loves. Romeo has family drama. This book has all the goodies ... and the spiccceeeeeee!!!! Ooohhh baby!!! I love how the characters from the previous books are continued throughout the series . 4.5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟
✨✨✨ Innocent Eyes by JJ Asher (@jj_asher_writes) is the third book of her British Invasion series and can be read as stand-alone and will be released November 25th. ✨✨✨

OMG!!! This book had it all: emotions, spice, complexity, drama, and did I mention the spice?
Jordan invites us to join the journey of Romeo, the silent, brooding type among the trio. The reasons behind his behavior are far more complex than you might have thought from his appearances in the previous stories. He is not the playboy he seems to be. Neglected by his father in his youth, he tries so hard to overcome his insecurities. Kendall, on the other hand, had to learn early to adhere to the strict rules of an Olympic athlete. Her biggest struggle is that everyone seems to know her and underestimate her. The tension between them is palpable and intensifies when Kendall asks Romeo to be her fake boyfriend for a fundraiser event.
The characters are so well described; both are incredibly complex, and their different layers are slowly revealed. Romeo is such an a$$hole, but because of all his flaws, I love him so much—helper syndrome kicking in hard.
So, if you’re searching for your next story with all the emotions, amazing characters, and sooo much spice, go grab this book now!
Quotes:
She trembles in my hands. Those pretty eyes are now red and welling with more tears. My tears. Black lines mark her face like war paint. This is the most raw and honest thing I’ve ever seen. With her, I feel needed. With me, she feels wanted, protected, and free.
“You want me to bręęd you, Baby Doll?” “There ain’t no going back from here. Cause once I’ve had you bare, there’s no way I’ll ever put a çondom on.”
“I can worry about myself. I’m not even close to Misty, so get that diçk back in me and fuçk me right into next week.”
JJ Asher has done it again! These broken boys of hers. Romeo is an alpha hole but he bides his pain. Kendall is the perfect girl next door or so you think. They are drawn to each other but he feels not worthy of her. When fake dating turns into spicy lessons, their true feelings for each other come out. Romeo is so protective and supportive of her dreams and Kendall is his calming voice of reason and support. When family drama interferes, can they work through it?
Wow wow wow so I just finished and my god 🤩🤭 I’ve read this as a standalone as it can be read as one but it’s also intertwined with the first 2 books and I’m definitely going to be reading them!! Absolutely amazing book and the storyline was gripping and so much funny banter and the spice 🙈 ohhh she was spicy 🥵 definitely worth adding to your TBR
Kendall used to be Olympic Bronze medalist, X-Games winner until she got injured which lead her out of the circuit for team Canada. Then she landed a job at Vistas as a snowboard instructor, which is where she met him. Romeo Estrada, six foot four, with the body of a Titan and an accent. Everyone assume naive sweet little girl but she want to prove them wrong. Romen has endured something in past which has effected him in adulthood. He is not playboy everyone make him to be. Kendall is NOT the kind of girl he goes for. That doesn't stop him obsessing, though. I loved Innocent eye. I love both Romen and Kendall. Their dynamic is so so good. Both have gone through something negative in their childhood, which has affected how they are in adulthood and how they view relationships and intimacy. Kendall was insecure about herself and overthink everything she and has self-doubt about herself and didn’t think she deserve it. I was able to relate with her so much here. I love that Romeo help Kendall's overthinking and insecurities. Roman has his own demons from the past and was scared of destroying her. But I love how Kendall calms his restless mind, giving him the peace he needs to quiet his demons. I love how Roman support her and helped her to not give up on her dreams. the whole trip and everything he do for her. I love how sweetest he was. And his pov about her 😭. I love this guy with all my heart. He is the kinda guy my overthinking ass needs. 😭😭 The spice was so good 🔥🔥 This is my first JJ boo and I love it. The story line and characters are written so well. I love love them. This is the third book in the series but you can read it as a standalone. Although i have heard so much about Roman and his brother’s bond , I am going to read the first two books asap. Also to know how all this came down.
Romeo, walking in on your father and “aunt” while hearing your mother crying in the other room isn’t something any 10 year old should have to endure. Yet that night left an impression on Romeo that would change the course of his life, for better or worse is yet to be determined. While his mother had taken him away from it all, whisked him off to a country where it was cold, rainy and he didn’t speak the language, landing him in a boarding school where bullÿing led him to his 2 best friends, his brothers. He’d do anything for those 2, even traveling across the country where his inner demons reared their heads, only to be silenced by a shy redhead rocking pigtail braids. Kendall Murphy.
Kendall, was once on top of the world, the snowboard world, Olympic Bronze medalist, X-Games winner. Until it all came to a screeching halt when she was injured, with the recovery time being so long It had gotten her pushed out of the circuit for team Canada. Taking the first job that was offered is how she landed at Vistas as a snowboard instructor, which is how she met him. Romeo Estrada, he was tanned, with an accent, and a smile that did things to her. Only Kendall didn’t really get the chance to live out her teenage years like others, at 19 she’d never dated anyone. She’d always been viewed as the sweet, innocent girl next door, but she would prove them wrong, prove him wrong.
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
JJ this was probably my favorite of the series, next to Jesse and Kai. This is book 3 in the British Invasion series and yes it is highly recommend to read them in order (time line crossovers). Romeo is all charm and smiles on the outside while inside the voices tell him he can never be happy, he’d be his father. Kendall is the never been kissed, surface level conversationalist, but deep down she’s kïnky, submissive, and smarter than people give her credit for.
Innocent Eyes was so good! I adored Romeo and Kendall's dynamic. If you want delicious tension and sitting on the edge of your seat, this friends-to-lovers romance will satisfy your cravings. I love that Romeo takes on the role to be able to take away Kendall's overthinking and insecurities and in doing so, quiets his demons, too. I love that Kendall learns to turn the tables to be able to give Romeo what he needs and has the magic touch to be able to calm his overactive and ruminating mind. They're both so very complex and the way they react to things isn't always what you would expect, so you're kept on your toes throughout. I adored the support that they had for each other and especially for Romeo not letting Kendall give up on her dreams. 😍
You really see how negative experiences in your youth can forever change the way you handle intimacy and relationships throughout your the rest of your life. And yet again, JJ hits the realism of the human experience through the relatability of the anxiety and the undeniable compulsions and doesn't shy away when things turn ugly. These feelings and behaviors aren't always pretty and I appreciate seeing the grit and angst instead of it being represented with rose-colored glasses. JJ also really does have a knack for writing vile, irredeemable parents and I will always be here for the drama. 😂
I wanted more of the relationship between Romeo and his brothers. I felt like Romeo was very isolated from everyone else throughout this book and we really only see him leaning on his brothers a couple times throughout. Admittedly, this tracks with Romeo's damage, to not want to burden others with his issues, so I guess I just want more of what I can't have! There was a decent amount of spice as Romeo and Kendall's relationship evolves. Much of it wasn't my personal preference but that doesn't mean it won't be your thing! 😉
This was so good! It has everything and more i need in a story! It had action, very steamy and secret romance, fun banter and so much more! 🖤
The story just got me hooked instantly i love JJ’s writing she always knows how to pull me in! And the MC’s 🫠🫠 i think Romeo and Kendall might be my favourites 🤭 The FMC is sweet and innocent but also wild and sassy, shes the perfect example of don’t judge a book by its cover! And shes just absolutely perfect!
The MMC is just dominant, protective but also self sabotaging and he is absolute perfection! His struggles are portrayed so perfectly hes a survivor and he would do anything to keep her safe even if it would cost him!
Even tho i cant believe its finished i absolutely love this series! and i cannot wait to see what shes got in store for us next!
~ I know full well I shouldn’t want: mostly whiskey, partially the surprisingly compliant princess that is Kendall Murphy, and maybe just a drop or two of my obsessive need to watch her unravel.
🥀Tropes🥀 ✨Co workers ✨Popping all the 🍒 ✨Dominant MMC ✨Forced proximity ✨Teach me
Innocent eyes jj Asher Read trigger warnings🫶 Innocent eyes was very good Romeo and Kendall’s story was amazing to read I loved every moment of it. Innocent eyes is definitely worth adding to your long list of books to be read! You won’t regret it. The tension, the spice and oh the drama! The characters are so well written you understand them so much. I loved all the books in this series however you can read innocent eyes as a standalone. JJ Asher writing just captivates you and you can’t put the book down! I highly recommend reading this book!
Wowza this book isn't just spicy. It's downright k!nky 🤭 my one big regret is not reading the other books first. This book does well as a standalone and the relationship between the guys is still so obviously important but now I need to go back and read the other stories to round out the world! There are definitely some heavy topics including the opening chapter and some heavy scenes throughout. So definitely make sure you check out the triggers to consider if this one's for you. We've got some fake relationship, some touch her and d!e, some will they/won't they. Basically covers everything you could want to and still has an epic love story.
This book sent me on an emotional journey. This is my first book by JJ and I loved it. I feel for Romeo honestly. He’s been through so much as a kid that it semi showed in his adulthood. I’m so glad he had friends that were there for him despite them being a-holes sometimes. Kendall was exactly who he needed for him to understand how to love someone but also learn to love himself. The chapter buildup on their relationship was so intense to read that I had to take breathers whenever it became emotionally heavy for me. The spice?! Chefs kiss!!! Being the a-hole Romeo was made the spice delicious! I’ll definitely read the first two books so that I can properly understand how the series came to be.
I love all three of the books in this series but Romeo and Kendall’s dynamic is my favorite.
JJ Asher is so good at writing stories about broken boys. First she brought us Saxon in Battle Scars, then she brought us Kai in Something So Strong and now she is bringing us Romeo in Innocent Eyes. While I love Saxon and Kai, (because who doesn’t love a broken boy who only one person can fix) Romeo might be in my opinion the most broken boy of the series. While Saxon’s parent did him dirty, I think Romeo’s dad is worst. I’m not giving anything away here you have to read the book to find out. 😘
But enter “innocent” Kendall, or is she really? Kendall really is perfect for Romeo, she calms his mind, but he doesn’t think he deserves her which ends up being an issue at the end, but it all works out. I just love the chemistry between these two and it makes for some really good spice once Romeo finally allows himself to be with Kendall. And the trip to Vancouver when they are fake dating for a charity dinner Kendall had to attend. 🫠🫠 Seriously Romeo is the sweetest.
I don’t think I can say it enough JJ Asher’s writing and characters just suck me in and I can’t wait for her next book! And if you like fake dating, friends to lovers and broken boys I highly recommend this book!!
Innocent Eyes by JJ Asher is the third book in the British Invasion series. It can be read as a stand alone but I always recommend reading them first. This book and series is extremely well written. The author almost makes you feel as if you are living within the pages. The emotional journey is an entire story line within itself. The characters are very well written. You feel so attached to them and everything that happens.
Romeo has been through so much in his life. He has gone through a lot of neglect and other situations. The playboy persona he has established is obviously a front. It all crumbles when Kendall comes along who has her own lifetime of issues. She struggles with so many insecurities. She has to deal with all that goes with being an Olympic Athlete. These two are on fire when together and I was here for it all. The journey they take together.
I loved this book. All three books with the guys are highly recommended!
I started out unsure about this one. Mainly because the fmc's...naivety felt forced and over exaggerated. But all it took was the right motivation for her to really emerge 😉.
And Romeo? Just needed the right girl love him. I'm still not 100% on how I feel about him but he's a troubled young man who just needs someone to love him. He was dealt a bad hand and we really get to see how that can effect someone more than just making them an angry adult.
Both characters are given the chance to grow as a person right in front of us. And it's an amazing journey to watch.
There's a couple spots that are a little confusing but they get explained.
Truly enjoyed this book as the dynamic between the two main characters was very complicated and compelling to me. The spice was very good and their connection to each other was electric. Easily a very good third book in the series and loved seeing past characters appear
Book three in the British invasion series. Romeo is not what expected. His persona is private and cute. She’s innocent yet so strong. When she asks him to fake date for the weekend. things heat up fast. Their childhood was not perfect. Made them the person they are now. Trigger warnings. Be advised. Spicy like all her other books. Each character brings a spark of happiness. We are not made the same. Some of them have to be wrecked, broken and the right person will come along and heal them. Loved it .
This book was so good! I really love how real these characters were and how they navigated their pasts to make their relationship work. I loved Kendall's personality and her chemistry with Romeo was perfect! I loved this story so much and I am sad to see this series come to an end!
JJ brings another instalment to her sensational British Invasion series which can be read as a standalone but I’d recommend reading the first 2 so you know the whole gang. This story is full of triggers much like the previous two, but if you can get past that and see the relationship that build you will be blown away by the simplicity of the writing. Jordan understands what women want and how men feel. Romeo only knows the love of the lads, having been pretty much neglected his whole life & that’s caused some serious trust issues. All fronted by his bad boy persona. Can Kendal see through the charade? Kendal is a beautiful soul full of insecurities and when her and Romeo get together it’s pure gold, hot as fire and the perfect combination to create a truly beautiful story.
💜🖤With her, I feel needed. With me, she feels wanted, protected, and free💜🖤
"Kendall Murphy is my kryptonite, and she doesn't even know it. She never can."
"And though I'm certain Kendall Murphy is far too precious to be tainted by me, I can promise that as long as I'm still breathing, no one else will ever get the chance to hurt her, either."
"You don't get to decide when I've been good or bad. You don't get to punish me whenever you see fit. Because I don't belong to you. I'm not your good girl. And I am not your doll."
"I'll show her, remind her of exactly where she's meant to be. Where she begged to be."
"When I'm in control, the voices die down. When Kendall is close enough, they can barely be heard. But when she's falling apart under my manipulation, white noise buzzes like soft clouds."
"A lifetime of misery and heartache seems merely a drop in the pond, and all it took was one girl. One gorgeous, scatterbrained, breathtaking, sweet as f*** woman. One beautiful distraction."
"They're all for you. Good or bad, you're the only one I'll ever cry for." "You look so beautiful when your eyes are full of tears." "I love it when you force them out of me. When you...just force me..."
"With her, I feel needed. With me, she feels wanted, protected, and free. She wasn't stepping out of her role; she was begging me to play mine properly."
"You're my world. You're my f****** queen. I'll die for you, and I'll kill anyone else who thinks they can take you away from me."
What a fantastic story to wrap up this series and these characters' stories. I have been curious about Romeo and Kendall through the other books. I love how the author approaches these two quirks and mental health issues. The OCD and ADHD was detailed perfectly. The spice in this was filthy, dirty, and hot as hell 🔥🔥🔥🔥. This made the slow burn so worth it. I knew once I read another prologue by this author that I was in for some trauma. Poor Romeo 😭😭.
This story follows Romeo and Kendall. We see them in the last books but finally now get the full picture. They become fast friends but are both attracted to each other. Kendall is a virgin and has no experience. Romeo has too much experience and doesn't do relationships, just intense sex. He has a strong pull towards her so he keeps pushing her away. Kendall keeps being told who she is and what she's about. This pisses her off and she finally makes a move on Romeo and he gives in. They become attached fast. Romeo has been hiding some secrets from his friends. Romeo ends up leaving Kendall due to those secrets and breaks her heart. Will those secrets come back to haunt him? Will Kendall become collateral to those secrets? Can Kendall forgive him?
This was a rocky road with this couple. Romeo uses alcohol to silence the voices in his head. He has many quirks to help him but alcohol is his vice until Kendall comes along. Kendall is a scatterbrain and only lives and breaths snowboarding as she's an Olympic champion. These two are complete opposites but work so perfectly together. Romeo is so possessive and obsessed with her. Seeing him so dominant in the bedroom vs his nicer persona had me 💦😉😏. The kink in this was filthy. The spicy scenes were perfect omg 🥵🥵. I loved their dynamic in and out of the bedroom 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I love how Kendall just wanted to be herself and prove to others just how wrong they perceived her. Kendall made Romeo a better man, but Romeo balanced Kendall out and set her free. This was a wild pair. When he left her I wanted to punch him. I get why he did it but I'm happy Kendall made him grovel 🤣. They deserved their HEA so bad. My heart broke for poor Romeo and his past.
This found family and friend group was hilarious and so loyal. I loved seeing more of all the couples. I loved how the timelines in the other books ran through this one so we saw different perspectives on certain events. Cleo was such a good BFF to Kendall. I loved seeing the boys younger and their flashback of when they met Romeo. Seeing Romeo train the new set of boys was hilarious 🤣🤣. I'm sad to say goodbye to this series as I loved everyone. If you're looking for trauma filled hurt/comfort, found family, delicious spice, and great banter then this is the series for you.
This series is one where each book takes me on such a roller coaster of emotions and this book is no exception. After getting Saxon and Jessie’s stories, in this book we get to read Romeo’s story. Just like the other MMCs in this series, we find that nothing is simple and easy in their backgrounds. I have really fallen in love with the books in this series because they are so raw and emotional. I feel like when I finished this book, I needed to take a deep breath because it’s a lot. But that’s what I love about these books. They make me feel. These characters are not simple and the relationships that they have are not easy. But that’s what makes this book so good. The characters are complex and dynamic, and the story will take you on a journey that is definitely worth it when you get to the end.
None of the MCs are simple and easy. Romeo is dealing with with so much from his past that we get a small glimpse of in the prologue. We get to see why he is so protective of the people that he loves. His relationship with his father also shaped the man he became and how he tries to deal with everyday life. He needs control and he fights an internal battle everyday. He’s rough but also soft and never wants real pain for those that he loves. Kendall is so different from Romeo. She is an Olympic medalist, but she is so naïve and innocent. She hasn’t had the opportunity to actually experience life. I loved the way that she grew and actually got the opportunity to be the person she really wanted to be with Romeo. She completely opens up and almost seems like a completely different person.
This series has become one of my favorites. The books are all a good length and takes a little bit to read, but that’s also because they are not easy, breezy stories. The characters are written so well and the story will pull out all kinds of emotions. The spice level is high in this story and the spicy scenes are so good, especially with inexperienced Kendall and Romeo’s need for control. I think that the books in this series keep getting better and better. I have enjoyed all of the characters in the series but these two were spectacular. This book may not be a light easy read, but it is worth the emotional journey that you will go on.
Innocent Eyes. British Invasion Book 3 By J.J. Asher

Innocent Eyes is book 3 in the British invasion series and quite possibly my favourite of the series!
I loved the well crafted storyline and the complexity of the characters. J.J Asher has done it again.
A superb and surprising story full to the brim with intrigue and packed with a whole lot of spice.
A heartfelt narrative that pulls at your heartstrings. These complex and well crafted characters have a unique and profound depth, they will have you feeling all the feels…
Romeo Estrada: A Brooding and damaged soul. He has endured a great amount of torment and neglect which has shaped him…driving him to keep up a façade to protect himself! I loved his character and his traumatic back story.
Kendall Murphy: she is the optimal good girl. Olympian athlete to boot. But she has a kinky and wild side, she is sassy but submissive but portrays the perfect image..
The chemistry between our main characters is palpable and electric… Spice is off the charts, a perfect amount of hot and tantalising. Very steamy indeed.
I absolutely cannot recommend this series enough! A must read!
Quotes: Romeo Estrada is danger and temptation all rolled into one and something I didn’t even know I wanted a few hours ago

Book Review: Innocent Eyes by JJ ASHER ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ “I’m absolutely smitten by Canada’s girl next door.” - Romeo Estrada The third and final installment of the British Invasion Series was everuthing I’d hoped it would be and more! Think v!rg!n FMC/ bratty subm!ss!ve, a jealous/ possessive Alpha MMC, good girl/ bad boy, BĎŚM, friends to lovers, secrect relationship, førced proximity, angsty slow burn, sp!ce lessons, found family. Romeo & Kendall had me in a chøkehòld for the entire book. Kendall had Romeo on lock from the very beginning & she didn’t even know it! She really came into her own & I absolutely LOVED her bratty sub energy! She challenged Romeo in ways that I don’t think he really expected at first. I loved their trip to Vancouver because that’s where Romeo first realizes that he would do anything to protect her. Not only is Romeo being challenged by Kendall, but he’s dealing with his own demons stemming from his childhood trauma. He discovers that Kendall helps quiet the voices that plague him. I thought the mental health/ neurodiversity rep was on point & very well written. This is definitely a slow burn, but when the sp!cẽ kicks in it is scorching hot!! And just as I did in the other two books, I adored the relationship that Romeo has with Jesse & Saxon. They may not be blood related, but they are brothers & family in every sense of the word! Although this is the “lightest” book in the series, I still recommend reading the T Ws! All in all, I was not dissapointed with the conclusion to this series and I ABSOLUTELY recommend reading it! You can find Innocent Eyes by @J J Asher on Kindle Unlimited and in Ebook & paperback form on the zon!

How does she keep doing it? Innocent Eyes is the third installment of the British Invasion series and JJ has absolutely nailed it again. Romeo not only watched his father ruin the love his mother once had for him, he watched her completely break and crumple. And when his father threw his own sensitivities in his face at a young age he vowed to never love. He's a one and done (but never greedy) kinda guy and that suits him just fine thank you very much. Kendall is the drop dead gorgeous, girl next door vibes, Olympic medalist who appears to not have a whole lot going on behind the eyes. Or so Romeo thought. But after agreeing to fake date for an event his head and the tables have turned. But can Kendall fully submit to give Romeo the control he craves whilst also pursuing her dreams and can he realise that he can't control everything including falling in love before he destroys his HEA. These characters are such a divine pairing and I ate their story up. This series and author have very quickly made their way into my heart, an absolute favorite for sure.
Innocent eyes is SO good and is the 3rd book in the British Invasion series but can be read as a stand alone 🥰 This amazing book was released on November 25th and if you love really spicy sports romances, this book is for you! Please read the trigger warning ‼️
I couldn't get enough of Romeo and Kendall's chemistry and obsession with each other! This story was based in Calgary where I'm from 🥰 and the beautiful Vancouver BC 🇨🇦
Kendall was an Olympic bronze medallist until she unfortunately got injured and she had to leave the circuit of team Canada. She continued working with winter sports as an instructor at Vistas resort is Alberta and that's when she meets him, Romeo😏
Romeo the possessive alpha MMC with a damaged soul and he ends up having to do a lot just to protect himself. He ends opening up to the one person who ends up being winning his heart, Kendall. Let me tell you that spice and tension between these two is on a completely different level and is just awesome 🔥🔥
J.J Asher is an amazing actor and I can't wait to read more of her books! 🫶❤️
Innocent Eyes by JJ Asher marks the third installment in the captivating British Invasion series. While it can stand on its own, I highly suggest diving into the previous books first. This series is masterfully crafted, drawing you into its world as if you’re living the story yourself. The emotional depth is a narrative thread all its own, and the characters are so intricately developed that you can’t help but form a deep connection with them and their experiences. Romeo's life has been a tumultuous ride, filled with neglect and hardship. His charming playboy facade is merely a mask, and it begins to unravel when he meets Kendall, who carries her own heavy baggage. Battling insecurities and the pressures of being an Olympic athlete, Kendall’s struggles are palpable. Together, they ignite a passionate connection that is electric, and I was completely captivated by their journey. I absolutely adored this book. I wholeheartedly recommend all three installments featuring these remarkable characters!
He’s possessive. He’s got a dirty mouth. he’s got a dark past. He tries to stay away from the girl of his dreams… but we all know he gives into temptation. And there is a A LOT of temptation throughout the book.
Innocent Eyes is full of drama and emotion, with two main characters that are trying to get away from their pasts and forge a new future. While Kendall is fighting for a future with Romeo, he is trying to make sure his past doesn’t drag her down his dark path.
A semi slow burn that explodes into a kink filled lust-a-thon, but plenty of plot that it doesn’t feel over done. I loved the emphasis on friendship and brotherhood between the men in the story and the overarching narrative of female power.
It was easy to slip into the world thanks to in-depth and accurate sporting terminology, while I got lost in the dialogue a few times, the story was fast paced and easily enjoyed!
📖 Innocent Eyes by J J Asher (@jj_asher_writes) 🗓️ Release Date: November 25, 2024
So, Romeo and Kendall sent this series out with a bang (😏) The good girl/bad boy trope went HARD in this book, but I loved the way Kendall wrapped Romeo around her little finger 😜 Her big brat sub energy was giving me life! Some of her lines had me kicking my feet 🤭 and when she finally busts out the “sir”!!! Oooohhh! Feral, possessive Romeo was so good! 🫦
This was definitely the lightest book of the series, but still had some… alternative elements 😮💨 Check the kinks and triggers lists before reading, just to be sure.
This is a bittersweet review for me to write. I absolutely loved this series, but it’s come to an end and I won’t get any more updates on these three wonderful guys and their partners 🥲 Still they each got their HEA and some bonus epilogues to peak into their futures.
TLDR: A spicy, slow burn with a bratty v ! rgin FMC who goes after the guy she wants. (He never stood a chance)
Is it possible to be teased by a book? If so this book was the king of foreplay and teasing. I mean chapter 10 was all the angst, tension, and heat. The text banter with the friends was top notch, I loved it. Chapter 37 was 🥵😮💨. Romeo has a past that comes with his own baggage and trauma. Kendall can see some of the tension and unease in him, she wants to soothe that. Romeo’s past holds him back from a lot, including his own happiness at times. We get to see many different dynamics…like what happens when friends find their person and you haven’t. Parents that are over burdening. Parents that are just a burden. Dreams crushed and dreams realized…this book had a little of everything. The dynamic between Kendall and Romeo grows and evolves, it just gets hotter and better. Kendall might seem at first glance like the girl next door…but she is a live wire waiting. Kendall has sass and fire about her, she is also very kind. This was my first read by this author and I throughly enjoyed it.
She’s done it again. @jj_asher_writes has a way of writing a story that reels you in and keeps you hooked.
This is the third book in the British Invasion series and is Romeo and Kendall’s story.
Romeo’s life changed when he witnessed something life altering at the age of 10. Childhood traumas can change essentially the person you become….Romeo is an alpha male with a taste of the darker side of sex and Kendall is innocent and has her own insecurities.
Can friends become lovers when they are so different?
Saxon and Andy from Battle Scars will always have my heart in this series but Romeo and Kendall aren’t far behind
