Moth McEntire has been invited to his Senior Class Halloween Party at the old abortion clinic. Moth doesn't expect much to happen, but maybe he'll get a chance to see longtime crush Cindy at the parry. However, an unexpected visitor shows up, wielding a large blade and the only treats this year will be soaked in gore. This novella is filled with scenes of extreme horror, violence, and more; reader discretion is heavily advised.
This book is Carnage by Jerry blaze and it is one particularly brutal story about Leslie, a man who has done some nasty stuff and is now looking to finally finish what he started a while ago. Some of the deaths were just fucking outstanding and brutal and disgusting also the main protagonists are very likeable so you really root for them. Quick brutal read that will stick with you, definite 5/5 read!!!
I try to rate certain types of books or “niche genres” according to their own scales. To me, a 5-star cookbook is not the same thing as a 5-star literary novel or a 5-star romance or a 5-star memoir. I can’t really compare them to one another.
So I was pleased to read this book that fits within my extreme horror/splatterpunk/slasher books and excelled in this group.
Carnage by Jerry Blaze was an excellent example of the genre. Lots of gore, no BS filler, and just the right amount of character development so I could see who I could relate to, who I could hate, and who I wouldn’t miss when the murder’s big-ass knife made even bigger-ass wounds that spurted gore galore.
The story shifts between the perspectives and storylines of several characters, but ultimately focuses on (1) the main baddie Leslie Stone; and (2) young lovers Moth McEntire and his new love interest, Cindy. The story wends around and creates vignettes reminiscent of your favorite slasher movies made in narrative format. I found the writing itself well-constructed. It was gross, for sure, but I knew that going in and with a title like Carnage and the prominent trigger warnings, you know exactly what your in for and even knowing all that doesn’t spoil the fun. I mean that would be like pretending not to know what a Terrifier movie was going to be like when you buy your ticket.
I liked this. I want to see more of Blaze’s work. I hope you like it, too.
Stunned! This is quite the story, suspenseful and bloody! It's got the most appropriate title, and it reads like a classic slasher movie. I liked the Chambers connection as well! Well done Jerry Blaze! Keep them coming! (P.S. Half of me's in there as well; hopefully my better half!)
I was recently given the opportunity to read the ARC of Knightmare! by Jerry Blaze and I saw that it was a sequel to Carnage so I had to come read this first! Although, you can read them as standalone but they are set in the same murderous place of Benton.
Slashers are absolutely what Blaze is good at. I always feel like I’m pulling up a comfy spot on the couch with popcorn to tune into the latest 80s or 90s slasher film when reading his books.
The setting is Halloween and there is a party being thrown at the rundown Morton clinic. It was almost burned to the ground years ago when a local man went on a rampage after finding out his wife got an abortion. Our main character we get to tag along with is Moth (Timothy) and he’s just a quiet guy starting to find his way into the arms of the most popular and prettiest and newly single girl in school. Things start out okay, we get a little bit of fun and sex and then time for some straight up CARNAGE and mayhem, as any good slasher needs.
Slashers are forever a favorite trope. I enjoyed the story line and even if it is a slasher tale it’s still creative, sexy and bloody fun! I really loved Moth, he’s a sweet guy and you are definitely rooting for him.
Phenomenal 🙌 Jerry really knocked it out of the park with this one! This is hands down one of the best slasher stories that I’ve ever read. It reads like a freaking dream. I would LOVE to see this be turned into a movie. That’s exactly how I saw it as I was reading it.
While this story was extremely bloody and gory, it also had a great back story about the serial killer and we got a true glimpse into what caused this brutal massacre all those years ago leading up to present day events. Extremely well thought out and meticulously detailed with some dark humor sprinkled in throughout.
Carnage releases on October 29th. Just in time to read for a Halloween treat🎃
Carnage is a perfect 80's style slasher in the vein of Halloween. The set up is classic: a long time before the events of the story, a man went on a killing spree at an abortion clinic. Switch to present day: a bunch of high schoolers decide they want to have a Halloween party there and at the same time, a dangerous killer has escaped from an insane asylum. Guess what happens?
Carnage doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. It's an honest to God slasher and shows serious restraint from Blaze, with only slight flavorings of his exploitation style.
On Halloween night, a notorious psychopath named Leslie Stone breaks out of the mental asylum hellbent to finish the job he started years ago. What ensues was pure depravity and gore. True to his usual writing, the story is filled with insane deaths and super sexy erotic scenes! Loved it
Brutal slasher about Leslie Stone who escapes from a mental asylum to finish some unfinished business at a an abortion clinic that’s closed but hosting a Halloween party, a fantastic slasher with a 80s vibe.
I think this might be the first slasher extreme I've read. I enjoyed it. Teen scream vibes. Escapee mental patient. Not as extreme as I'd have like but it was a good wee read.
A great story, 80s slasher vibe! I thoroughly enjoyed the carnage that was Carnage! The characters were great, Leslie was an awesome villain. Absolutely loved this!
This book was a bit of a mess, and not in a good way. The writing wasn't good and it was generally very erratic, all while set in the most boring senior party ever.
Carnage: An Extreme Horror is just that, an insane horror book and I absolutely love it! Starting out on a teenager excited and scared for an upcoming Halloween party and doing a parallel with a deranged mental patient locked up in a secure ward, Mr. Blaze did an excellent job at capturing both worlds.
There's plenty of gore and jump scares too (which, before this, I didn't realize a book could do)! I encourage everyone who loves hack and slash gore to try this book out. If you do, make sure you have a full day off because you're not going to want to put this book down until you finish it!
May be my favourite short story of his! We open up in a mental institution and we meet the most dangerous people there. One manages to escape and goes to the place where his life was turned upside down. It’s explained why this is his traumatic place in the book! He goes on a complete rampage and uniquely kills a lot of people! All I gotta say is fetus eating 🤢 absolutely gross but fit in well. Loved this one!
A psychotic killer escapes a mental asylum. He plans on taking out the place that he failed to take out the last time he went on a rampage, an abortion clinic that took his heir. Though it happens to be Halloween night and high school kids are having a party in the shell of the notorious building. Well that's just more fun for the killer.
Highly recommended, a fun quick slasher novella. Does a good job with giving the killer a background, plus getting you interested in some of the kids that are in danger.
What happens when you throw a party in the wrong place at the wrong time? You’re gonna have to read to find out but just know there will be carnage. A woman scorned apparently has nothing on a very pissed off husband robbed of his future. Such an excellent read if you’re in the mood for a little massacre.
Carnage was a fun, cringe-worthy, quick slasher read. In true Jerry Blaze fashion, he delivered plenty of gore, violence, and carnage 😉. When unhinged murderer Leslie Stone escapes an asylum, he sets off to finish what he started years before and leaves a trail of mutilated bodies in his wake.
This is a quick read that is full of 80s teen slasher meets Hostel-esque brutality.
Leslie Stone, a convicted killer housed at Mellow Meadows Mental Asylum, escapes on Halloween after years of planning, looking to finally finish what he started.
High School Senior, Moth McEntire, and his fellow senior classmates plan to party the night away at Morton Clinic, an abandoned abortion clinic that had been partially destroyed by a fire. Little do they know that a deranged killer is lurking in the basement, ready to dish out some special treats of his own.
The detailed gory kills are **chefs kiss** served with a special helping of abortion fetus remains.
This novella is filled with scenes of extreme horror, violence, and more; reader discretion is heavily advised.
Looking for a spooky read, with major 80’s slasher nostalgia vibes? Look no further! High school Halloween party at an old abortion clinic with a very dark past… What could go wrong? Love this new one from Mr. Blaze, comes at you fast and hard, easily a read in one sitting book for me. Slashers are my favorite of horror sub-genres and he nailed it on the head. Extreme but not over the top. All and all a super fun, blood soaked tale, that you won’t want to put down!
CARNAGE reads like a horror movie, I really enjoyed it. The book is not too long or short, the characters were likeable and the villain had a serious grudge that some could understand, but he really overdid it!
If you want a Halloween scary story, I recommend this book.
I was recently given the opportunity to read the ARC of Knightmare! by Jerry Blaze and I saw that it was a sequel to Carnage so I had to come read this first! Although, you can read them as standalone but they are set in the same murderous place of Benton.
