“Where d’ye think ye’re goin? Plannin’ on sneakin’ off in the middle of the night after what we did, are ye?”When Raven MacNeil’s past caught up with her, the only way to save the man she loved and their child was to vanish without a trace. Nearly three years later, she escapes her misery once more, only to face more disaster.
Shipwrecked, barely clinging to life… And saved by the one man whose heart she shattered.
Arne MacLeod swore that if Raven ever crossed his path again, he’d make her pay for the way she broke him. Now, tempting as she might be, she is not getting anywhere near their son. Not if he can help it.
But maybe Raven isn’t as far from his heart as he thinks…
With her stolen freedom slipping away, Raven’s time is running out, but she’ll risk everything to spend it with Arne and their son. If only he’d let her.
While his mind swore to resist her wicked charm, his heart was already hers…

Kenna Kendrick is an American based author of Historical Scottish Romance living in Austin Texas with her husband and three children. Her, more than 25-year-old, experience as an English Teacher has brought her close to the literary world, growing her love for fictional stories.
Her love for literature was also strong because of her father John, who used to write crime-stories. While she tried following on her father's footsteps, a trip to Scotland sealed the deal, as she fell in love with the Celtic myths and the bleak Highlands.

There are too many mistakes in the grammar and called the characters by their wrong names.
Morag called Raven by her true name and everyone didn't make a peep. I realized the author or the editor didn't correct it. There are more like those in this ebook. The Laird Straun McDonald not McNeil.
Then, there when Raven had to disguised herself in a lad's clothing. When they hide out in the cave, now she's in her gown? Then at Arnes brothers keep. He's in lad's clothing back again?? When did that happen?
When Raven finally sees her brothers from the dungeons, when they were caught trying to get in secret tunnel to the castle, She mentioned that Arnes is the father of her son and then stories later, Raven want to talk to her brothers that she has a son when she already mentioned of him. (Mind fkd)
I had to fill in myself, which was obvious but not feeling satisfied. Unless I had a corrupt ebook?
Either way I liked the story line but little thing in this story I didn't like was that Raven was painting Straun in a bad villain, that we know from each accounts but She's leading him (Arne) on getting him to kill.... And so on forth...so for that 2.5 stars.
While running and hiding from an abusive and cruel husband Raven hides in a whore house and obtains a job as a maid, there she meets Arne MacLeod brother of Laird Haldor MacLeod. They fall in love and Raven gives birth to a boy, when Arne is away Raven spots her husband’s men in the whore house looking for her. She knows that she can’t stay there anymore and in order to save her son and protect Arne she leaves her son at the MacLeod castle gates and flees. Heartbroken and for 3 years Arne raises his son but trusts no women. One stormy night a ship crashes on the rocks and all the passengers are thrown into the sea, Arne rushes to help and the first person he pulls from the water is none other than Raven! All the hurt, anger, and betrayal comes rushing back as he stares down at the woman who left him and abandoned their son!! This is an excellent book!! The plot twists and turns and keeps you reading so that you can’t put it down!! Cherie
Raven is married to the evil Laird MacDonald. She escaped a couple of years ago and found refuge in a whore house as a maid where she met Arne, brother to Laird MacLeod. The two had a child together but when Raven’s husband found her she had no choice but to secretly leave her son at the castle while Arne was away with a note explaining vaguely why she was leaving them both. Arne was bitter and could never trust a woman after that. But almost 3 years later, Raven returned. With the way things ended for them before, Arnie could not trust her with his heart or their son. Their complicated story was full of lies, betrayal, abandonment, grief, fear, and danger. But they each needed to learn to trust the other for a happy ending. I really loved Arne and Torsten but struggled to like Raven. She did not make good decisions.
Written quite wrong, and the extra prologue was a better story. Author should have continued that storyline and did a timejump in between instead. It would have made an impact when raven told arne she was having a bairn, or when raven left arne. But these were all skipped in favor of a storyline that was dragging and can be cut shorter
The tone of the characters is also jarring. First they were ok and then when the arne and raven reconciled, the tone became animated and less organic. Not the best book from this series.
There are also anachronistic parts like water bottles mentioned, which i'm sure there are no water bottles yet during those times or maybe a different terminology should be used. Skin of water or water jug would have been more appropriate.
The story of Arne and Raven is full of mystery, lies, abuse and love. Raven was married off at 17 to an abusive Bute by her father who only care for the alliance, she runs away and meets Arne falls in love. The story is fast pace and full of emotions. A must read totally a page turner. I am a big fan of Scottish Highlander books and this book will not disappoint.
The storyline is captivating with interesting characters and a lively storyline. I am a big fan of Scottish Highlander books. Ms. Kendrick is a wonderful storyteller in this genre.
