Only the elite few are born “Reflective,” in this alternate world created in the fertile mind of Tamara Rose Blodgett. Able to use their natural talent to cross dimensions into other worlds, The Reflective are trained warriors charged with keeping populations safe from evil. Beth is the rarest of the rare, a female Reflective and fierce warrior who’s only negative is her diminutive size, making her a target in battle. When Jeb is forced to partner with her, he finds there is more to Beth than meets the eye and his heart is determined to keep her safe while his battle sense says she is nothing but trouble. Can she hold her own in battle? What if it involves the heart? Jeb wants to find his soulmate, but Beth is a threat to both his heart and soul. Battle after battle, this unlikely pair are becoming a fighting machine to be reckoned with, but Beth is making more enemies among her own as the facts of her birth cause fear and prejudice to rear their ugly heads.

A good author leaves their mark on their work, a great author brands their work into our minds as we re-live the highpoints, carry on a mental debate over some parts and feel like we have been on this journey alongside the characters. The lines of fact and fiction blur as the pages disappear and this tale comes alive. Are there characters from other series receiving cameo acknowledgment? Are these worlds entwined in a huge collage of dimensions?

With her ability to spark humor, danger and attitude, Ms. Blodgett has created another breathtaking fantasy filled with action, and characters that come alive, page after page with their snarky dialogue that screams signature Blodgett!

The Reflective is a marvelous new series from Tamara Rose Blodgett and of course who couldn't get behind a heroine with the name Beth. With its highly imaginative world building, genius science fiction core, The Reflective blew me away.

Beth Jasper was born to a man dominated society and when she pursues her calling to the fullest extent she makes many enemies. Strong and totally kick arse, Beth journey is both challenging and demanding which creates a fast pace, action intense storyline.

Blodgett gives us a bonus to all her loyal fans. She gives us crossover from her other series, bringing the familiar to the totally new. Simply put, I loved it.

OH MY PRINCIPLE!! I have been fan of Tamara's for a few years now and let me tell you, she has NEVER let me down. I absolutely adore her writing. The Reflective is no exception. I mean everytime I read her books I feel like it's being played back in my head as a movie. What's neat about Tamara is that she has combined all of her other series together without this story being sloppy. If you've read her other works then you know what I'm talking about. This story though was just an awesome addition to her others. The Reflective is a beautiful, dark, adventurous romance. If definitely has me wanting more, especially with that ending!! There's some secrets in there that have me questioning the future for Beth & Jeb. Along with some other characters too. All I can say, without giving anything away, is that I loved it, I was glued to this story, and I'm utterly fascinated with Tamara's multi-parallel worlds. Wish I was a froggy!! *giggles*

This is another beautiful story by the ever talented Tamara Rose Blodgett, a new series that combines the world of Blodgett’s Death, Blood, and Savage series, but with a completely new cast of characters.

The Reflective are part of The Cause, policing the many world by jumping through reflective sources, such as mirrors, water, knives, and the like. The novel instantly pulls the reader in as we meet Beth, a young girl intent on becoming a warrior. Her story is intriguing, and we automatically want to know more about it. Blodgett then jumps ahead a number of years, and as Beth is finally completing her training, we learn of her ill treatment and status in a world where she is the sole female reflective warrior in a world of males. Thrust together with Jeb Merrick, an intense, extremely male warrior, her story unfolds as she and Jeb jump from world to world unintentionally wreaking havoc and upending their world as they know it.

The characterization is absoltuely superb; Blodgett has created extremely vivid, realistic characters in not only actions, but also the way they speak. Her world-building is amazing as well, and I was whisked away into this intriguing story immediatley, especially with the imagery Blodgett creates through her words. I can’t wait for more!

Complete with vampires, reflectives, savages, and earthlings, readers do meet up with some old characters from Blodgett’s other series, as well as meeting a completely new set of evildoers that will leave your blood chillled.

This is an intense read that is tons of fun, though reader beware, there is a cliffhanger that will leave you dying for more.

I was so honored to receive an early copy of this book from the author. It's one that I have been waiting on for a very, very long time.
The Reflective is the adult PNR from Tamara Rose Blodgett. It's so cool. I can't even begin to describe the world that Tamara built in this one. It's thick, and full, and filled with awesome.

The main character is a girl named Beth. Beth is a Reflective. How do we know this? Because when a child is born Reflective the butterflies in their world will swoop down and embrace the infant. To be Reflective means that you can transport or jump to other worlds, and realities through reflective surfaces. Beth is unique. She's very 'Other' and that makes her a target. I can't and I won't tell you how, but what I can tell you is that Beth's journey throughout this books is painful. She doesn't have it easy.

The writing is dead on. It's clear, but swift moving. The action sequences are by far my favorite out of the entire book. I don't want to spoil a single thing for anyone right now since the release date is still a bit off. But what I will say is that this ranks highly in my top ten reads of 2014. Highly. Like really, really up there. ;-)

I have been waiting for ever for this novel to be written. I was completely drawn in by the petit sized morsel of a sample chapter, and have waited ever so patiently for the ARC to be complete. I knew it was going to be well worth the wait and I was in no way disappointed. It was bloody awesome and far exceeded my expectations!

I don't know about you, but I love reading books about strong, motivated, passionate and intelligent women. Beth Jasper is all that and more. In a world where she should be inferior to the male of the species, she puts them all to shame with her natural Reflective ability and kickass fighting skills. Talk about girl power!

Beth is teamed up with elite Reflective, Jeb Merrick, who reluctantly accepts her as his partner. He's intrigued by Jasper's amazing ability and is willing to see how their partnership goes, despite the stigma which comes with being seen with her.
They work well together, but each mission seems to attract trouble, bringing them closer. Jeb has to fight his natural protecting instinct where women are concerned, as he finds himself worrying about the well being of his partner because of her gender.

That is just the tip of the iceberg folks! I can't do the story justice because believe me when I say, it gets fricken awesomer and awesomer with fast killer fight scenes, heart wrenching storyline, building romantic chemistry and amazingly strong characters, including Blodgett's trademark horrible, evil bad guys who you hope the world caves in on!

The Reflective had me from the first, with the fascinating insight into the world of the Reflectives in the prologue. But what really impressed me was the author's genius of somehow incorporating the worlds of her DEATH, SAVAGE and SINGERS series, almost like a cameo appearance. It is seriously cool how they are all related in someway! What a mastermind!

The Reflective is a must read. It has everything you could possibly want in a book, and a unique original concept that had me enthralled.

2.5 stars. Sorry there are spoilers here:

This Nook book was free from Barnes and Noble so I thought "why the heck not." It started out with a good and interesting premise about Reflectives. And I see that many people gave it 4-5 stars but as much as I wanted to like this book, I couldn't. There was no character development. World-Building was very slow and by the end of the book, still wasn't much. The writing style made the author seem like a novice. I didn't like the female lead character. Was she suppose to be a badass? Well she wasn't. She kept getting her ass kicked to the point where she almost died several times. The editing was bad at times. It didn't flow. I'll be reading and all of a sudden I'm like, "wait, who's talking?" I couldn't stand when the author couldn't decide what names to use for her characters. Sometime Beth would call Jeb Merrick by his first name, sometimes by his last name and same goes for Jeb who calls Beth Jasper by her first name and sometimes her last. Jacky was annoying. I'd love to slap that kid. Another annoying thing was the dialogue. I don't usually like crude and profane dialogue but this was annoying. This book just didn't seem polished and put together. The only reason I gave it 2.5 stars was because the only time it got really interesting (and believe me I contemplated several times to stop reading altogether) was when Ryan took Beth to Sector One. Those chapters up to the end of the book was interesting. Otherwise I'd give it 2 stars. I' going to read the synopsis of the other books in the series but am not going to read them. I can't. Sorry.

This is one of those books I made myself put down...because I didn't want to get to the end. I knew I was going to get to the end and be impatient for the next in the series.

A fantastic book, loved it. Love all Tamara's books. I read, a lot, I am an old Aussie chick that hides from my boring life by reading.

This book tied in well with the other series Tamara has written or stands well on its own. The storyline is strong and easy to follow and you can see there are so many possibilities for the main characters to go.

Absolutely loved it...hurry up and get writing Tamara!!!! I don't want to wait until 2015!!!!

Wow. Tamara makes it really hard to give a review that will do her and the book justice...without giving any spoilers.
What Tamara has done is create, streamline and twist it all together. Threw all of her awesomeness and creativity in to one pot, and I'll be danged if it isn't genius. If you are a fan and have read other books by Tamara you will know and understand what I mean.

The book is amazing. Any story that can make me say "Wo" and have to walk away from the book just so I can get over the shock, and return to reading later, is a great book indeed.

great world, Swiss cheese plot

so many convenient coincidences it became unbelievable. and a large reason the FMC is bullied is because she’s a half breed. however all Reflevtives mate with non-Papiliones, which would make every child of a Reflective a… you got it, a HALF BREED. so do they call their children mongrels as well? it was a poor conflict device.
2 stars because the world building has great potential

Chaotic…Convoluted…Confusing…

Book one in Blodgett’s Reflection series introduces an advanced and futuristic society known as Papilio, which translates to butterfly in Latin. The insect is considered sacred, as they identify “Reflectives“ at birth—those able to travel between worlds. Reflectives are trained to become elite warriors in the militia, whose duty is to uphold “The Cause” whilst they police the many alternate Earths, also known as “Sectors.”

The FMC, Beth, is a half-breed Reflective, who is determined to be out in the field as an Elite, instead of sitting behind a desk—a goal which has proven near impossible over the years due to the resentment, disgust, and hostility her fellow Reflectives treat her with because of her female and half-blood status.

The MMC, Jeb, is an Elite Reflective assigned as Beth’s partner—a situation he is opposed, yet resigned to. He struggles with the same prejudices that the other Reflectives have against her, but takes his duty as her partner seriously.

Reflectives also have ”soul mates”, but they’re prevented from finding them until they have fulfilled “five years of service to the Reflective.” This is because Reflectives feel a strong bond to their soul mate, and therefore wouldn’t be able to fully dedicate themselves to serving the Cause. So to prevent them from bonding prematurely, they’re implanted with “timepieces” which inhibit their ability to recognize their soul mates. However, a person’s soul mate may have a soul mate that isn’t them.

Are you following along so far, or have I lost you? Because I felt lost just trying to explain this book’s bare essentials. That’s right—I’ve barely scratched the tip of the iceberg.

Now—don’t get me wrong—I applaud the author for creating a fictional society from scratch, as originality is a difficult task to undertake given the amount of books published to the genre. However, the author introduced too many new concepts at a time, without allowing me time to assimilate.

Then there’s the fact that too much was going on—period. I couldn’t keep up with the mental gymnastics that the pacing and plot required. As soon as I wrapped my head around one concept, we’d already moved on to the next. I felt as if I was running behind the characters instead of experiencing the story as it happened.

Don’t let my personal struggles with the book stop you from giving it a chance; it has plenty of positive ratings and reviews. I’m not sure if I’ll be continuing on with the series, but I’m not completely against the possibility.

4 Reflective Stars

The Reflective is the first book in its series. For how long it took me to get used to the syntax the author used, once I did the story blossomed.

Blodgett created a work of art. The world building!! I’m at a loss for words. It’s an effortless combination of supernatural, meets sci-fi, meets gladiators, meets guardians of the galaxy, meets Star Trek. *cue explosion* Mind blown. I’m so ecstatic the blurb hooked me. Having discovered this fantasy, I would feel at a loss without it.

We follow Beth Jasper, “the mongrel” the half-blood of unknown origins who some how, with her muddied heritage, happens to be the best jumper known to their advanced civilization of time-and-space-hopping guardians known as The Cause. While being the ostracized and under valued inductee in their ranks she manages to surprise and surpass everyone with her talents. As Jacky says, for their perceived advancement they still have a long way to go.

Jebediah, I will forever love this name, is a veteran Reflective coming to the end of his five year required commitment to the cause and just happens to be the unlucky sod who’s taken on the responsibility of being her lead.

I find it difficult to really do Blodgett’s work justice in this review. There’s entirely too much that wowed my senses, and I feel requires mentioning. Alas, if I don’t hold my tongue now I’ll end up spilling the beans and ruining the discovery for you.

Beth Jasper, female, half-breed… 5 GOLD JUMPS

had just made history. Who is Beth Jasper, and what is her purpose? **THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON REFLECTION MEGA BOXED SET (BOOKS 1-4)** I don't know if I can find the words to express just how blown away I am by this uniquely phenomenal book! Once again, Tamara Rose Blodgett has transported me into a book like no other! Even though I have read thousands of books in my life, I honestly cannot think of any other story that even remotely compares to, or is similar to this one! Right from the start I was pulled into the story - you could say I jumped right into it, eyes first, never to look back! So many cool attributes like different species, different worlds, the concept of Reflectives, just ALL OF IT! I mean talk about a LOT of...well..a lot! Typical Tamara to not only keep me glued to the book, but to have me so deeply in the story that I completely lose myself, becoming the characters, feeling their happiness, pain, confusion, all of it as if it was mine! Such a terrifically written story with so many familiars, but yet so unique, which is one on the long list of why I love, Love, LOVE Tamara Rose Blodgett books!! My one & only "complaint" is just how much sleep I lost because I was THAT immersed in it, I just couldn't put it down!

I liked it

It is a good book. Maybe a bit slow throughout; I had to take a pause here and there when I couldn't concentrate because the book had lost my interest.
I was a little peeved that Beth wasn't a very strong person. She threw a tantrum when she was young to get into the fighting Reflectives group, and then literally every fight after that she ends up almost beat to death and someone comes to her rescue. I know her best strength is the jumping, but come on, she needs to be able to fight too!
Pretty big cliffhanger, and a lot of other questions to be answered further into the series. I liked the storyline, and the last quarter of the book drew me in until I finished it. It made up for all the rest of it, and is why I am giving 5 stars.
I'm not going to buy the next book in the series. I didn't love this book that much. But I would read it if I had the chance.

This book starts out very slow, so slow i almost dnf multiple times up to around 40%. After that the storyline kicks in and its a great read with interesting plot and characters.

This is not really a romance book, more ya adventure. No sex, no mature thenes etc. Not usually my cup of tea tbh.

Was looking forward to book 2 but its not on ku, the German version is just not English which is a shame cos this book isn't that good id pay for the next one, they have to be 5 stars for me to not stick to ku.

So endeth the adventure!

Butterfly people

Very nicely done. I would like to know why there are now gaps of time missing from each jump when that has never been the case in the 500 years they have been doing it. And I really wouldn't want Jeb as a mate I don't care what the stupid self count down clock says. Beth is a very strong FMC, has a lot of honor even though she is attacked constantly by her homeworld and others. She deserves a mate that is on her level.

Riveting

This is a riveting story about Beth who is a Reflective, a person trained in combat who polices several worlds. It is a brutal life with lots of violence. There are links to characters in other series which is a nice touch. Well written with good editing and the full series is part of kindle unlimited. Definitely worth reading.

DNF at chapter 20. This was never enemies to lovers, more like annoyance to lovers. Also I’m sick of the whole “she doesn’t need anyone to defend her/she can take of herself” and then needs saving 1847201 times. Shit is annoying. Also I know this turns into a love triangle and I HATE love triangles. This was not for me.
