A serial killer is murdering Brilliants in Denver...and Agent Nick Cooper believes the killer may also be a Brilliant. The only witness is disabled vet Adam Lee—wounded in a Special Forces mission to Cuba to destroy Fidel Castro's secret Brilliant academy. Though wheelchair-bound and trapped in his seventh-story apartment, Adam Lee has a special skill, his ability as a Brilliant, that allows him to use hints and reflections to see around corners and through the smallest cracks. If he pushes his ability, he may be able to identify the murderer...but that also makes him a target.
Yes, I have a lot of books, and if this is your first visit to my amazon author page, it can be a little overwhelming. If you are new to my work, let me recommend a few titles as good places to start. I love my Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. series, humorous horror/mysteries, which begin with DEATH WARMED OVER. My steampunk fantasy adventures, CLOCKWORK ANGELS and CLOCKWORK LIVES, written with Neil Peart, legendary drummer from Rush, are two of my very favorite novels ever. And my magnum opus, the science fiction epic The Saga of Seven Suns, begins with HIDDEN EMPIRE. After you've tried those, I hope you'll check out some of my other series.
I have written spin-off novels for Star Wars, StarCraft, Titan A.E., and The X-Files, and I'm the co-author of the Dune prequels. My original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series and the Nebula Award-nominated Assemblers of Infinity. I have also written several comic books including the Dark Horse Star Wars collection Tales of the Jedi written in collaboration with Tom Veitch, Predator titles (also for Dark Horse), and X-Files titles for Topps.
I serve as a judge in the Writers of the Future contest.
My wife is author Rebecca Moesta. We currently reside near Monument, Colorado.
Yes this is technically fan-fiction but wow! The story is based on the Kindle World created by Marcus Sakey.
Nick Cooper is an investigator who get himself assigned to a case in Denver where Brilliants are being killed by a serial killer. He meets Adam Lee, a vet who is completely paralyzed except for his left arm and hand. Adam is also a Brilliant and his talent lies in his ability to see what others can't. He can put together a scene by using indirect vision, reflections from surfaces, vibrations, windowed, etc. He witnesses a murder and things get very interesting!
Looking for more from Nick, but enjoyed Adam's development
I enjoyed the character development. Some of the plot was fairly predictable. Felt like Cooper was undeveloped since this book came after the first two Brilliant novels. Overall a good read. Left wanting to know how things go for Adam!
Good read! Not Sakey, but solid characters and creative crafting of plot twists. More backstory and chronological connection to Brilliance series would have been useful, but still not a deal breaker!
