For forty years the double murder of an elderly couple in the Hollywood Hills remained unsolved and all but forgotten. But a stranger, bent on revenge, is out to change all that.
Baylee Scott grew up in Beverly Hills, the daughter of renowned director William Scott and actress Sarah Moreland. For years she’s worked to put her father’s abusive alcoholic outbursts behind her and believes she has finally overcome her mother’s abandonment at the age of three. That is, until one night at a charity event, she grudgingly accepts an innocent drink from an old acquaintance that ends up turning her world upside down, putting her on a deadly path of discovery. Now, Baylee has an infant daughter and lives in fear that her own secret will be found out by the man she’s been hiding from for almost a year, a man from one of the most powerful legal dynasties in California, one who has a habit of getting what he wants and crushing anyone that gets in his way. Not knowing her father holds a dark secret of his own, Baylee finds she’s in the crosshairs of two men. One wants her dead to get to his daughter. The other has a score to settle and will stop at nothing to get it.
Dylan Burke is determined to win over the single mother, Baylee Scott, and protect her and her baby daughter. He has his work cut out for him because he’s about to open up a can of worms when he delves into William Scott’s past, a past that hides a twenty-two year old murder mystery, and answers the puzzling disappearance of Baylee’s mother. It’s also another vital link to the legal dynasty. Tangled in a maze of murderous lies and deceit, the two discover the truth about the legal empire and its founders and discover just how far the heirs will go to get what they want.

I was so super lucky to win the 2nd book after winning the first one on a facebook party & Im so glad I did! This book was even better then the first! Picks up right where it left off except instead of the focus being on Kitt, it is now on one of her best friend's Baylee! Loved Baylee's character so much. This book, like the first one is chalked full of action, mystery, romance, and of course a truly deeper evil! Don't want to give anything away but I must say, I smiled and screamed out"YES", at the end with the last scene with Connor! That's how into the book I became! After finishing this book I immediately rushed online to buy the third book. When I saw Barnes and Noble was sold out I panicked and went to EBAY and still came up empty! I thought Amazon would be sold as well but nope I got lucky and ordered it right away, so needless to say I loved the book and can't wait for the third one to come in. Im thinking and hoping the last book will now focus on Quinn the other best friend of the trio! Can't wait to see how Vickie McKeehan wraps up this wonderful trilogy!
Spoiler alert: If you haven’t read Just Evil, there will be some information included in this review that will give away some of the plot. I have tried to keep it to a minimum, because even though it’s a trilogy, I feel the books could be stand alone. Each book covers the life of one of the women. And if I only read one of the books and not the others, I would still feel that I was glad I to have read it.
He was parked outside the Book and Bean in San Madrid, right back where he started. He knew Baylee Scott was running the store this morning and that she was alone with Sarah, her baby daughter. When he got up, he had a feeling that something was going to happen. He knew to pay attention when his gut was talking to him.
He is a mystery within the mystery.
It had all started with the death of Noah’s parents back in 1969.
Frank Geller still had to account for his part in the murder. Jessica, Eva and Sumner had already paid the ultimate price.
Now that Kit and Jake Boston are a couple, and both of them are murder suspects, Baylee figured most of the customers were there to see Kit.
Since Kit’s kidnapping, the media had flipped their verdict from guilty to innocent. Kit had been saved by the stranger and he had left his calling card, a gold cowboy.
Baylee was afraid that with all that had happened to Kit, it would bring the media attention back to her. She had done her best to keep a low profile.
Collin had been crazy enough to kidnap Kit, what would Connor, his brother do if he knew Baylee was still in town?
Baylee had left town when she found out she was pregnant with Sarah. She had been staying with a friend of hers in Denver, until she found out her father was dying of cancer. She had told no one, not even Kit and Quinn why she had left. Since being back, she had rented a guest cottage from Gloria in Agora Hills, hoping Connor wouldn’t find her, even worse find out about Sarah.
Dylan Burke, VP of Billing-Pro Software, was on his way to drop off some computer equipment to Jake, who was the CEO and his best friend. They had been hiding out at Kit’s house since the kidnapping. Dylan had an ulterior motive, Baylee Scott. He hadn’t stopped thinking about her since he’d first met her. He was daydreaming as he drove and didn’t notice he’d passed through town. He turned back and stopped outside the Book and Bean.
When he entered the store, he saw Sarah first and watched as she tried to reach her toy. When Baylee saw him, he told her he was running an errand for Jake and just stopped by for some of her delicious chocolate cake.
They had a good laugh when she told him the media left because of an anonymous phone call, telling them a mega superstar had to be rescued when he tried to surf off Malibu, and was rushed to the hospital. Who could possibly have called it in? She hadn’t grown up in Hollywood without learning something.
Baylee held Sarah as she cut the cake and Dylan offered to take the baby. When she asked him if he knew what he was doing, he said “What’s to handle….First you pick up them up by their legs, swing them around a couple times….” Had me cracking up. I like that even though the plot was heavy there was plenty of humor to be found.
All of a sudden her face turned white and she told him to take Sarah and leave immediately. He didn’t ask questions, just did what she said. As he walked by the store window he looked in, only to see Connor Boyd. Dylan quickly called Jake and told him to get here as soon as possible. Baylee needed help. As Jake and Kit drove to the store, Dylan was talking to him on his cell phone, telling him how terrified Baylee was that Connor would see Sarah and that’s why he had to leave her alone with him.
Baylee had known this moment would come. Collin had come by the store before and recognized her, so she had known it was only a matter of time before he told Connor. He had told her to never tell anyone about their being together, even if it was only once.
When Jake and Kit came in, Connor quickly started telling the story that he was there to explain to Kit how she should feel grateful that Collin rescued her. How everyone had it wrong, Collin wasn’t the bad guy. Yeah, right.
Baylee knew it was time for her to explain what was going on, why she had left. Kit thought Baylee had an affair with Connor and jumped on her, saying how evil all three of Boyd brothers were, and how they had tried to keep Quinn from Cade. So how could she do it Baylee went on to tell her what really happened.
Connor had drugged her, raped her and left her alone in the hotel room. He had called her later saying what a great time he’d had. After finding herself pregnant and with weeks of threatening phone calls from Connor, she left town without telling anyone anything. The Boyd’s had so much power, they could do whatever they wanted and not have to pay the price, so to try and fight them would be useless.
It was Dylan’s idea for Baylee and Sarah to stay with him. They would pretend they were a couple and make people believe Sarah belonged to him. They admitted to each other they had feelings, but agreed to take it slow.
Frank Geller had just returned from his honeymoon, this was his fifth marriage. There had been three funerals while he was gone, his two sisters and Connor’s father. Connor brought up to Frank, that of the four original partners in the law firm, he was the only one left. The vendetta that took them out wouldn’t be over until he got his. When Connor brought up the subject of the gun, Frank said for all they knew the gun was long gone, the gun that was used in the murder that got them the money to start the Boyd’s law firm.
They didn’t know they were overheard, but Trevor Dane had bugged the house. There was only one more person left that was responsible for killing Noah’s, his mentor, parents back in 1969, Frank Geller.
No one knew that Noah had lived through his imprisonment by the Viet Cong. Trevor was the only one who knew Noah’s story and when Noah found out he had cancer, he knew he’d never be able to make them pay, but Trevor could. He would avenge him because he knew the evil was deeper than Noah had known.
5+ STARS – Would Buy It For Them (lol)
I received this book in return for an honest and unbiased review.
The cover is awesome. I always love trees, especially so with this series because of how the plot keeps branching out, yet still comes back to the root of the story – the murder of Noah’s parents and the three women whose lives it affected. A complex and twisted plot. The branches weave around the women, engulfing them and all those whose lives they touch.
I just couldn’t put it down. Made myself because my eyes were starting to cross. I have tried to ration the books, there is one more, Ending Evil. I love the characters so much, I am going to hate when it is over. I feel like they are my friends, and I will miss them dearly.
The friendship of the girls is something to strive for. More than once I was on the verge of tears for all the terrible things done to them and still being done, through no fault of their own. A friendship like theirs is to be treasured. It lasts for a lifetime. How many friends are there for you, no matter what?
Characters were so real, you will love them or hate them, but they will make you feel emotions that will stay with you long after the story is over. I’m not a huge fan of romance, but the love and care the characters had for each other was so real, that I could only hope that they would find the one, their soul mate. I wanted them to be happy and have the dream we all want, someone who loves us unconditionally, by our side through thick and thin.
When Reece gave Jake and Dylan the finger I laughed out loud. So realistic, I could picture it in my mind, like a film unrolling.
I loved when Dylan said he was a regular Magnum PI, I used to watch that show all the time. It help’s me to relate to the character by defining his personality.
A masterpiece work of suspense, mystery, thriller and romance.
Hopefully, anyone reading this has read Just Evil (The Evil Trilogy - Book One) or you are gonna be lost. This is a continuation of the story started in that book only this time it is Baylee Scott and Dylan Burke's story that is the main romantic thrust of the book.
The unknown hitman/savior that is one of the main characters we know very little about is revealed a bit more in this second book and he makes this whole story just that much more addicting. I should make a disclaimer that I am a "revenge junkie" and this trilogy has been great so far and I expect it to go out with a bang in the last book Ending Evil (The Evil Trilogy - Book Three).
While many people have commented that this book was better than book #1 I disagree, while it was a 5 Star novel I found the author had a couple more sex scenes that was required to add anything to the story and the ending which you were built up for was a bit rushed but greatly satisfying.
The romance was a bit harder than Jake and Kit but I am glad to report that this was not just a copy of book 1 in the romantic plot with names changed although it obviously has to have some similarities since the whole trilogy is based on horrible events that took place many years before the setting of these books.
Bottom Line: Get this book, heck you better get all three and start on a Friday night unless you just enjoy losing sleep, these are great books and an outstanding and original story. 4.5 Stars rounded up
Deeper Evil is just as captivating as Vickie's first part of this exciting trilogy, Just Evil. With the second book, I feel close to the group of friends in the sense that I long for the relationships of my friends that are far from me and the love and closeness only good friends can give especially in troubled times. These characters are intricate, exciting, complicated, but at the same time real and relatable. I am nearing the end of this book and can't wait until all is revealed in the next book. Buy this book!
I read the second book first so I won't give anything away to those that haven't read it yet. I have to admit I was taken in by Baylee and Daylan's story. I can't wait to read the first one and then move to the next book. This author is an excellent storyteller and I was glued to the book to the very end. Excellent read Vicki.
Book 2 of “The Evil Secrets” trilogy was even better than book 1. The plot line continues and any unanswered questions are resolved. Of course, additional questions are posited, although these will probably be resolved at the conclusion of the final novel. I greatly enjoyed this novel. The reader is reintroduced to many of the book 1 protagonists, with new emphasis on Baylee Scott. I liked Baylee better than I did Kit. She appeared to be less selfish and self-absorbed than Kit, although Baylee also endured abuse by an uncaring parent. The novel’s pacing was fast, the character development realistic and engrossing. One of the best qualities of “Deeper Evil” was experiencing the demise of the criminal characters by an unknown person skilled at killing and fleeing the scene. This person is developed more fully than in book 1. The reader becomes more acquainted with this character. I find myself hoping I get to know them more in book 3. I plan on beginning this novel tonight. The author has done a terrific job writing this trilogy.
Brilliantly written romantic suspense story! I was captured from the first page!
Having read book one: Just Evil, I immediately purchase Deeper Evil. The main characters are three young women who are strong and devoted to each other. They all experienced reprehensible parents until they could escape the abuse each had suffered! United since early elementary school, Kit, Baylee and Quinn were the only support system each girl had growing up. Surviving their nightmare childhood, they meet three extremely sexy young men who have mutually supportive friendship! Like many RS novels, the reader must suspend belief and embrace the fantasy. These characters are beautiful, loving , sexy and essentially perfect versions of themselves! This is juxtaposed to the evil, black-hearted and hateful antagonists with no redeeming values! So it's enthralling when Justice is served! This fairytale has a happy ending, arousing sexual encounters, tear worthy moments and the joy of good defeating evil. The saga continues in the exciting conclusion Ending Evil: book three!
What an excellent thrill ride through the life of Baylee. One more surprise after another. What a great read. Will she remain alive or will Connor get to her?
I have guidebooks four because it kept my interest and kept me trying to figure out each twist and turn. Great story now on to book three. Can't wait to read it and see how it ends this trilogy.
I seriously cannot get enough of Vickie’s books!! 😍😍😍 every one has twists and turns you’d never expect. Wonderfully written to grab your attention and refuse to let go😂
The first book was amazing, I thought surely this book couldn't top it but my gosh I was wrong! I couldn't stop reading!! The more I found out about Alana and Jessica Boyd had me hating them more and more as if I really knew them!!
Very good! Kept me on edge most of the time wondering what was going to happen next. Completely shocked me in the last few pages. Now I have to read the final book in the series. I hope it's as good if not better than the first two.
I received Just Evil, as a gift from the author in return of and Honest review, but after reading it I JUST had to purchase Deeper Evil and Ending Evil. I am so glad I did, so worth the small amount of money for such an amazing story!!! There is nothing I do not absolutely love about this trilogy. Well other than the fact it is only a trilogy.
In Deeper Evil, Kit and Baylee continue having nightmares, and finally getting some long over due answers to questions they have keep deep in side for years.
As Baylee's main concern is for Sarah and keeping Conner from finding out that he is Sarah's, father Dylan finds that he is wanting nothing more than to protect Baylee and Sarah more and more at each passing moment. But he has also found that is is more than protecting them it is also Loving them. The surfer boy/player finds that Diaper duty and play time with Sarah are top on his list. Not to mention being farther away from Baylee than 2 feet makes him a nervous wreck. What started out as just concern and safety for Baylee and Sarah has turned in to wanting nothing more than straight weak at the knees Love for them both.
Dylan Burk, goes from Waxing is board to baby powder and Diapers, no more little black book for him. Baylee's as him wrapped her little finger and his only thought and desire is to make her save and Happy.
Jake is still trying to clear himself from Clair's murder and find evidence that will point to Cade Boyd.
Kit, is reeling that Alana wasn't her mother after all but Gloria the woman she has known as her Aunt her whole life turns out to be the mother she has always wanted to have.
Quinn, still carrying a Huge chip on her shoulder and keeping a secret from her Best friends is also fighting her nightmares and torment from her childhood with her mother and her her traumatic weeks with Colin Boyd. While shutting down Reese at every turn.
No there is Reese Brennan the stiff shirt Attorney/friend of Dylan and Jake, he is not sure what to make of this whole thing but is using his law degree to do some major damage to the Boyds . While doing so he finds he wants to get to know Quinn, but she is keeping him at arms length. Which makes Reese even more determined.
Gloria, Not only finds out Kit is her daughter but also find out she also gave birth to a long lost son.
Pyscho Boyd brothers, still trying to torment Kit, Baylee and Quinn they each seek to try and do damage and find it only to back fire on them Jake & Kit, Dylan & Baylee, and Quinn are always one step ahead of the Boyds.
Mr. X- smooth behind the scenes professional sniper, has taken out he first generation of evil, while working stealthily at the second generation. Who is this man and what secrets and answers does he hide?

Have you ever read a book and while reading you have to wonder how can people be so evil? Well, this was the thought that came to me while reading Deeper Evil. There were moments I found myself shaking my head and thinking is this for real?
Deeper Evil tells the story of Baylee Scott and Dylan Burke, whom we were introduced in book 1. After reading about them in book 1 I wanted them to have their own story and what a story it was. It was clear that Baylee had a secret which had her running scared. She had left home without letting her friends know what was happening with her; however, she was forced to return when her father fell ill. I really admired her for her selfless attitude. He was not much of a father to her while growing up, however she was willing to risk all by returning home to help with his care.
Dylan was intrigued by Baylee the first time he laid eyes on her and he was willing to help to protect her and her daughter Sara to the extent of pretending to be Sara’s father so as to prevent her biological father from finding out about her. This action demonstrated the depth of his feelings for mother and daughter. The romance between Baylee and Dylan was not so smooth, however, when they finally got together it was quite
The Boyd brothers were up to their usual evil selves, but then you can’t expect any better from them with the kind of parents they had. The phrase ‘The apple does not fall far from the tree’ is quite fitting where these three were concerned. Throughout all of this my favorite character is the hit man. We were introduced to him in book one, but not, much was revealed about him. In book two readers are able to see what makes him tick and why he is taking out hits on the most powerful family in town. It easy for readers to empathize with him, especially when he portrays the role of a hero when it came to Baylee and her friends. He was intent on protecting them from the Boyd brothers at all cost.
Alana and the Boyd family touched the lives of everyone in this book, but it was never in a good way.
Deeper Evil is a gripping and emotional story that will tug at your heartstrings. It provides answers to several questions, including what happened to Baylee’s mother, which allowed her to finally have some closure. There were a few suspenseful and nail-biting moments.
This story shows how guilt, secrets, jealousy and greed can destroy lives It shows the extent to which a person will go to get what they think belongs to them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend that you go get a copy.
OMG this is a ten star series . This is the second book in The Evil Secrets Trilogy series. This is a series you can't put down. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to read the last book in this series . Great thriller. A must read for all thriller lovers.
Deeper Evil is packed full of Mystery, Romance, and Suspense.
Death and vengeance reign when it's time for payback on the dynasty that is torturing Kit, Baylee and Quinn.
In Deeper Evil the story continues, but focuses on Baylee Scott, one of Kit's best friends.
Baylee is the focus of one evil mans attention. This man would like her dead and would love to take her daughter away. Fortunately Jake's friend Dylan steps into the picture and offers Baylee a retreat of sorts. A hideout. When Baylee says yes, she doesn't realize that she may end up falling for the guy.
First things first though, Baylee must protect her daughter at all costs. If that means fleeing the country, she'll do it. The main reason she stays close to home is because her father is not in good health. Then there is the mystery of what really happened to Baylee's mom 22 years ago and what her recurring dream from when she was a kid means. The plot thickens!
I can't wait to read the third and final book Ending Evil.
I really enjoyed book 1 in this series so I had high expectations for this story. Let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. This book was one of the most exciting stories I have ever read. It had everything you love about a classic romantic suspense. The romance was perfectly written. There was a lovely build to it, none of the silly corniness you sometimes see in romance. The sex was hot , but also sweet. This was a couple you enjoyed rooting for. All the characters we love ( and the ones we hate) are back for more fun and adventure. I love the relationship all these friends have with one another. There is a very realistic feeling to these expertly written characters. The mystery and suspense is top notch. The action starts right where the last book left off and keeps the reader on a roller coaster ride to the very end. This is an absolute must read series for anyone who loves a good series. I cannot recommend this series high enough. Now I am onto book 3. Once again with high expectations.
Very good book that picked right up where the first book left off without missing a beat.
McKeehan did use the phrase "mouthy kiss" in this book too which I really hate but not as much as in the first book but that is what cost it the the five star rating from me. I just can't wrap my mind around that phrase and in the first book it was over used and McKeehan just needs to remove it from her vocabulary.
This book was Baylee's and Dylan's story and it was told very well and Kit and Jacob were not forgotten in the story like so many times people from previous books are. The stories were put together nicely and we learned more evil things that Jessica and Alana did in the past (those are two evil witches). I can't wait to see happens in the next book and how it is all put together and ended. I am not sure if I want to not like Trevor because he is a killer or love him because in a twisted way is is also a hero. It really leaves a reader conflicted.
This second book in the trilogy was also very good. Well written mystery/thriller with a bit of romance thrown in.
Dylan is maybe a bit too good to be true but hard not to like. This one was not nearly as "shocking" as the first because, by now, you realize the depths of evil for Alana and Jessica so to add to what they did is almost ... not surprising at all. I did grow more fond of the hit man who is much more a guardian angel in this book.
From a writing perspective, some ideas/stories/dreams/etc became a bit redundant ... by different characters telling the same tale or recounting the details to new people. Seems it could have been more streamlined here and there to not be repetitive.
Needs a bit more editing - many noticeable typos.
All in all, enjoyable and great for me to read as I ride my stationary bike. Again, McKeehan left us hanging at the end so I will HAVE to read the third book right away!
I REALLY LOVE THIS SERIES. I LOVED HOW THE SECOND BOOK PICKED RIGHT UP WHERE THE FIRST ONE ENDED. JUST LIKE I TURNED THE PAGE INSTEAD OF CLICKING OPEN A WHOLE NEW BOOK ON MY KINDLE. WOW! THE MYSTERY & SUSPENSE KEEP COMING, THE MORE WE LEARN THE MORE WE HAVE TO FIND OUT. I HAVE NEVER READ ABOUT SO MANY DISFUNCTIONAL PEOPLE IN ONE PLACE. I WONDER HOW KIT, BAYLEE AND QUIN SUVIVED THEIR CHILDHOOD AT ALL, THEIR PARENTS WERE TERRIBLE. I MUST SAY I AM ROOTING FOR THE KILLER, THAT MIGHT SEEM BAD, BUT I DON'T CARE, STARTED LIKING HIM IN THE FIRST BOOK. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE ROOTRD FOR THE BAD GUY, H*LL I LIKED HANNIBAL LECTOR. I READ ALL OF THAT SERIES TOO. I HOPE HE GETS AWAY TOO. SORRY! READ THIS SERIES YOU'LL FEEL THAT WAY TOO! I AM 3% INTO THE NEXT BOOK "ENDING EVIL". I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW ALL THIS WORKS OUT.
Wow...this is the second book of "The EVIL Trilogy" and I was not disappointed. It felt like an exciting, intense roller coaster ride. It is an excellent, suspenseful thriller, loaded with lots of incredibly, delicious, spicy sex throughout, and not silly S&M, violent stuff. These characters have healthy, sexual encounters. The author knows how to make a story come to life. I learned more about the characters, and their background stories (and the life experiences molded them into who they are today). It is refreshing to read a book that makes you crave for more. I can't wait to get my hands on book three. The only thing I'll regret is knowing it is the last of the series.
I was very impressed by the second book and it was extremely well written. Baylee Scott is an adorable young mother unfortunately she has a secret and then there is Dylan Burke the hot surfer dude. There is mutual attraction between the two but they want to take things slow due to the baby. The plot thickens which I really enjoyed and it is sick how evil some people can be then there is the Anti Hero in this the man (finally I learnt his name) who not only saved Kit in the first book but now also Baylee and Sarah in this book. I have really warmed to the characters the one person I had a problem with is Quinn (hopefully that will change in the last book of the series.
Sometimes by the 2nd book series things start to become drawn out and boring, but this is not what we have here! Another great read by the author, and now I must go and purchase the last book and spend my weekend beneath the covers completing it.
I do only have one small notation I'd like to make. In the 1st book of the series, the older couple is killed with the wife being shot in the chest, and the old man being shot in the shoulder and head, but it's switched around here in this novel. I'm not sure if anyone else pointed it out, but I just wanted to say so.... Other than that small thing, BRAVO!!!
As Connor Boyd spins out of control, trying to have Baylee killed, the truth of Sarah Moreland disappearance comes out. Baylee finally tells Kit and Quinn the truth about Sarah's father. The truth about Jake Boston's dead wife come out. And, Dylan and Baylee hook up. The best part of this story is the golden cowboy assassin. You actually cheer for him, as he neutralizes Connor and Collins plans to kill off Baylee and Kit. Hoping he actually gets away with removing the evil of the Boyds and Alana from the earth.
Another great book. I was worried these books would just be the same story with different characters but so glad that wasn't the case. At first I was a little disappointed how the Dylan and Brylee relationship started. I mean really, who moves in with a guy they hardly know with a child after admitting to being raped? It just seemed a bit stretched and rushed but I love them together none the less. Weren't as many unexpected twists in this book but it was still great to hold you attention and not want to put it down.
The second in the series, a continuation of the stalker and his family. A continuation of the serial killer. The killer seems to be on the "good" guys side.
This is the story where one of the main characters friends falls in love with the male main character's friends. I also realize that this is a series of romance novels. (Not that I am slow but the suspense/mystery is such a large part of the story that the romance doesn't take center stage.)
This is the second book in the Trilogy. Each book highlights a different couple and tells their story. I loved the first book and the second one did not disappoint me. It kept me up at night reading and led me deeper into the lives of the characters. It left me wanting more and I had to immediately download the third book in the Trilogy. I love series that finish up part of the story and lead you into more detail of another story. This book does have sex and violence in it.
