I thought the concept of Arume was really cool, but when it's used to write a sexist story full of unnecessary nakedness in which every other character is in love with the protagonist I just kind of want to give up. Yet I finished reading. And that didn't change my mind about the story, which is full of dub-con by the way.

"Self-sacrifice is the ultimate form of beauty."

Set in a radically altered world a thousand years after a war with a race of 'alien angels', the Kaijin, that mankind barely survived, a lone human-angel hybrid joins in the resistance against the corrupt military that threatens to take the angels' tech- weapons that can cause mass thought-manipulation- and use it against any humans that won't obey orders. These weapons are tested on human children via a 'vaccine' to 'precent alien contamination'.

"Forced self-sacrifice isn't sacrifice at all."

The rebel angel hybrid, a secret weapon named Yui who was raised to be a killer and an asset to humanity's survival, is determined to stop the destruction of human lives.
But to do so, she will have to embrace that she's no true angel, nor is she a true human.
When conflicting emotions Yui doesn't know how to handle interfere with her mission of justice, the broken angel has to build herself into a holy terror.

Really don't know exactly how I stumbled into Blue Drop. It's eerie likeness to Alita: Battle Angel may have subconsciously roped me into thumbing through it while I've been on my own these last few days.
It's not *bad*. It reads like a typical alien rebellion story; I'm a nerd, people. Been there, done that. But it does take into the account the timid nature of its target audience- teenage girls- and make the self-discovery and first relationship tones very relatable and gingerly shows first love without a takeover of the plot.

I haven't read a lot of manga from this era, nor a lot in this particular style . It's remniscent of late 90's/early 2000's anime, which I was of course heavilly exposed to, so it wasn't unfamiliar. Just jarring to see in still drawings.

Overall, Blue Drop, if one can access it for free, is a worthy read if you're a bored, gay, alien nerd.
Which... Yo. Trifecta.
I'd watch the anime. Added to my very long list.

I've recently started reading manga online more. Can't find expensive, popular titles anywhere your browser can safely come back from, but my resources have gotten me to some pretty cool, obscure ones I've never even heard of. Really wanted to make manga a priority last year and I didn't. Perhaps with this newfound tool I can bring that goal into 2019.
Here's to hoping.

A/N-
I have not read the Alita: Battle Angel manga. My comparison was made to the 2019 film.
