Short but very informative read on an important battle in both South Carolina and Revolutionary War history. I was especially eager to read this work as I am the direct descendant of an alleged Sullivan’s Island veteran, William Sentell (or Senter). Sentell was presumably with “Danger” Thomson as a NC militiaman defending the northern end of the island from attack by British ground forces under Henry Clinton. Must read for any Revolutionary War or American history buff.

Short readable account of a battle that would possibly have affected the outcome of the Revolution…but because the British effort failed, the battle is little remembered. Hence not much to write about really and the book itself reads like a guide at the battle site, which I understand is who the author is.

I thank Mr. Rickeman for providing such a readable synopsis of an important event involving several unsung heroes of our revolution. This book is very timely as the US approaches its 250th birthday. I hope that many others (not just those who live in Moultrie, GA, as do I) will take the short time needed to gain useful colloquial knowledge of our nation's history.
