The 1922 Rose Bowl was a classic East versus West showdown. The heavily favored University of California Golden Bears known as the Wonder Team had defeated every opponent in their path during the 1920 and 1921 seasons. The leader coach Andy Smith prepared his team like no other, but it was difficult for him to plan on an unknown small college from Pennsylvania, Washington and Jefferson.
W&J's coach was a prominent athlete of the era and he and his gutsy band of players were up to the challenge of crossing the country to face the Wonder Team and playing in one of the most riveting college bowl games of all time.
