I found this book through Amazon’s recommendations, and the blurb caught my eye. I thought I’d be getting a simple “protagonist falls for the villain” type of romance — but what I actually got was so much more: romance, fantasy, plot twists, a well-developed and unique magic system, multidimensional characters… honestly, everything you could ask for in a book.
✨ Elina (the FMC) was amazing. She’s powerful and self-aware, but what I loved most is that — unlike so many heroines in the genre — she also knows when to listen, when to accept protection, and when it’s better to stay out of things. She’s EXTREMELY intelligent, and watching her recognize new patterns and question everything she thought she knew was inspiring and so refreshing. In a world where “smart” characters are often written as stubborn and inflexible, Elina felt like a breath of fresh air.
✨ Varkh, on the other hand, was pure perfection. He fits the mold of the overprotective, possessive MMC, but he truly understands the woman he loves. That’s why it was so refreshing to see him push back against those instincts when it meant honoring her freedom and curiosity — because he knows that taking that away would be like cutting out a piece of who she is (and he would NEVER do that).
Their relationship was beautifully paced, unfolding alongside the revelations of their past. The flashbacks were well-placed, adding depth instead of disrupting the flow. Both protagonists were perfectly imperfect, and it was wonderful to see them fall in love again — not only with who they used to be, but also with who they’ve become. Even their mistakes stayed true to their personalities, which made them feel real.
✨ And the plot? ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. For the first time, I felt like I was uncovering the truth alongside the protagonist. Nothing was too obvious, and the pieces of information were revealed gradually, letting me build the puzzle together with Elina.
Thais did an incredible job with this book, and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
