Until Then

Rate this book
I never thought I’d find myself craving the small-town life, but I’ve grown to hate LA and all that comes with it. When I get canceled after a celebrity interview goes terribly wrong, I put my life in the City of Angels on hold and hide out in Parkerville, Maine. My sister has made the small town her home, and my assistant lives there, too. So it seems like the most logical place to go. Until my assistant suggests I move in with her dad.

Her very hot, rugged dad.

Who may or may not hate me after I tried to hook my sister up with him. Because rather than falling for him, she fell for his son.

Oops.

It was an honest mistake.

I fully expect Derrick to tell me to find somewhere else to hunker down, but by some miracle, he agrees to let me stay in his spare bedroom, as long as I help out.

Easy enough, right?

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ 3.5 𝕊𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕤 ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗

I just realized I haven't fully reviewed this one yet. Lemme just take a min lol.

If you've read 11:11 - this is the spinoff and we follow Izzy, Via's little sister and Derrick, Reid's father.

Izzy has made a successful career for herself through social media and she's landed an opportunity to interview a world wide popular star. When she fumbles the interview on live stream due to the questions prepared by the company she's working for - the fans on social media rise up with pitch forks and have her cancelled.

Depressed, embarrassed, and for the time being, run off social media... Izzy makes her way across the country from Los Angeles to the little town in Maine to visit her sister for a little while, until she figured out what she's going to do next.

Once she arrives, she discovers staying with her sister isn't really practical with Via and Reid being all over each other 24/7 and her assistant lives in just a small apartment with her young daughter. It's proposed that she stay with Derrick, Reid's father for the time being. He has a huge house, he's all alone... what could possibly be the issue?

Alright, let me just start by saying I really wanted to love this one. I mean, I was so head over heals for 11:11 that I thought no way would I be disappointed by a book within the same small town and involving the same characters, but I was.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ The book is written well, it was more of a personal preference in character personalities for me... Izzy is very very sunshiny and ugh I can't relate to the bubble gum snapping, small puffy white dog carrying, squeaky voiced, surface level personality.

She does have growth, but I felt like by the time we started to see the character development I didn't really care. The plot moved so slow in this one and it was hard to stay super engaged.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Aside from that it all seemed really convenient and at the same time really odd that staying with a man who you don't know, several years older than you - alone? I get that it's fiction lol but it's not like her sister couldn't have stayed at her man's house and Izzy could have stayed at Via's house. It just didn't seem believable to me that off rip she's gonna start shacking up with this stranger. It's 2024 - who knows what he has in his basement!

Look, I'm doing a lot of bitching... but it wasn't a total loss and I think most of my complaining is due to the fact that I really expected to love it. If you didn't love the first one as much as me, or if you read this one as a stand alone, you may very well have a better outcome to me. I have an emotional attachment to the first book, and I'm chalking the majority of my disappointment being that this one didn't give me the same feels, but that's totally a me thing.

I absolutely loved Derrick the MMC - he's sexy and smart. He's a hard worker, he's 'old fashioned' and a total gentleman. He's caring and compassionate. I love love love him.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ I do recommend this book because the writing is fantastic. I especially love Smeltzer for her age gap stories - so if you love age gap and you enjoy really sunshiny FMC's look no further.

I love a good age gap romance. When I read 11:11 and saw the potential these two characters had together, I knew their book would be good. If you've read 11:11, you'll remember that Izzy is Via's younger sister, and Derrick is Reid's dad. If you haven't, that's okay. This is just set in the same world. I think Izzy and Derrick were amazing together. They balanced each other out perfectly and their romance was fun to read, sweet, and had just the right amount of emotion.

Until Then by Micalea Smeltzer

4/5 stars

Until Then is a delicious, sweet and entertaining book with lots of funny moments that had me laughing throughout.

The story starts with Izzy who is on the red carpet interviewing celebrities. She works for The Tea, a gossip magazine and when she interviews the current it girl Lux she reads the questions on the card The Tea prepared. They are invasive, hurtful and completely out of line. Izzy is quite famous herself. She has a popular YouTube page and a huge following. Her own and Lux's fans instantly cancel her after the red carpet debacle.

The backlash is huge and she decides to go to her sister Via in Pakerville, Maine. It's a small town and exactly what she needs. She has a key and lets herself in. Catching her sister banging her 11 year younger boyfriend. Her sister runs after her offering her a place to stay. But Izzy doesn't want to intrude and will go to the inn. Which is full, and she ends up staying with her assistant Layla and her little daughter. But the place is small and Layla says she can stay with her father for the foreseeable future.

And that's how Izzy ends up with Derrick, a guy who she has loved from afar for years and years. He is also the father of her sister's boyfriend. And quite a bit older than herself. So she is a little hesitant but quickly feels at home.

Derrick himself has a crush on her as well, but they both are skilled at hiding it. At first..
I just adore them together. She loves to push his buttons and he secretly loves every second of it. She tries to get him to eat healthier and he tries to react grumpily each time she cooks. They have a delicious and funny push and pull.

But as time goes by they start to eye each other more and more. Which results in a few hilarious situations. Such as the following one. I looooooved this one!

***

"It's okay," she says, popping up and capping the sunscreen, shaking her head and wearing a wry smile. When she looks up, she scans my face, then moves lower until ...
In my haste to get away, I'd forgotten why I was sitting and covering myself.
Izzy breaks out in a wide smile. "Aw, at least some part of you is happy to see me. Hi."
And then she waves. At my d***.

***

And when they finally give in... It was sooooo hot! I absolutely love both of them. I like how truthful they are straight away to the people around them. And I like how trust and truth is at the forefront of their relationship.

Lilibeth isn't in the book a lot. But I just love her to pieces. I love how fun and bubbly she is.

And I feel so stupid! But I just found out that Via and Reid have their own book! I really want to read that one now. Cause those two cannot keep their hands off each other.

I really loved and enjoyed this book. But it is a slow burn romance. And I kinda hoped for the pacing to be faster. It was a little too slow for me. I also wished that epilogue's where a bit longer and had a bit more depth to them. Though I am still happy they were added. I loved those glimpses into the future.

All in all a great read! 4 big stars from me for this beauty!

''I've found my until then.''

Safety warnings:
- H 44 / h 27
- No cheating
- No OW/OM drama
- Single father/grandfather
- Sister's bf's dad
- Mention of loss of loved ones
- HEA

I never read the book that introduces these characters (Eleven Eleven), it's a reverse age gap and honestly that has never been my thing, but I knew I wanted to read this one when I saw all the tropes and the forbidden aspect.

Derrick and Izzy are connected via the weirdest events. Izzy's sister is dating Derick's son. Not only that but Izzy once set up Derrick and her sister (as he is the father of Izzy's assistant) on a blind date but had NO idea she had a ONS with his son....caught up?

Izzy is dealing with the aftermath of a disaster career move and she needs a place to hide away, her assistant tells her she can stay with her dad for the time being.

This is a slow burn since neither do anything in regard to their feelings for a long time but once things heated, they are unable to let go and honesty helps their future play out differently than I had envisioned.

I felt like the ending could have been done differently, I appreciated the epilogue and look into their future but that bit at the end where there was conflict was too clean of a resolution and I expected more drama?

Overall, I enjoyed the book and I loved their chemistry.

It's funny that I didn't put together that this was in the same world as 11:11 until I dove into this. Granted I haven't read 11:11 BUT it is on my TBR Kindle list at the moment. All that to say, I really liked this one!! The taboo with the age gap and the turmoil that these two felt about having feelings but thinking they were wrong or dirty- it was PERFECT. I liked the setting and how much it played a part in Izzy realizing what she was missing in her life and her world. I really really liked Derrick. He was so supportive and just a solid rock for Izzy. He was so motivated to see Izzy smile and to help her get back on her feet. I liked how well Micalea addressed the passing of Derrick's wife. That is such a heavy topic to be touched with soft hands and she did it well in my opinion. Izzy was kind of like our sunshine but I don't think Derrick was necessarily a grump. He was just set in his ways of being alone and liking his job. The instant chemistry between these two was electric and then when everything went down and they way it did- HOTT!! I also LOVED how Derrick then wanted to take her out on a date and how he did that with them living together- so so so sweet.

Izzy has been cancelled. She followed "orders" from her job and now her followers and the world seem to hate her. So she tucks tail and goes across the country to stay with her sister. She has no plan other than to stay off social for a while. With that comes the challenge of where she can stay. She thought she could stay with her sister, but now that Via has a serious BF that is off the table. So somehow she has now found herself living with her sister's boyfriend's dad, Derrick. The same Derrick that she has had a crush on from afar for a while. And now she is living with him where she gets to smell him and see him shirtless and cook for him. And her crush is quickly developing into something more especially when he can't seem to say no when she asks him to do things with her. She is starting to see how good of a man he really is. She is starting to see a future where she is here and not in LA. But after a while of this simmering tension and nothing happening she starts to wonder if that's a good idea. But then THINGS HAPPEN!! HOT THINGS! And they both know that now that the line has been crossed, it won't be a one time thing. In fact it will be a dating thing. So she is enjoying their time together and thinking about the future when out of nowhere tragedy strikes. And it seems to trigger Derrick's grief from his wife's passing. Will their love be enough to get him through? Will Izzy be able to convince him that he is what she really wants?

Derrick is living life just fine. Yes he lives alone, and yes he doesn't really go out much. But that doesn't really bother him. He has his kids and granddaughter close by which is enough. Well all of that seems false when Izzy moves in with him. His daughter's boss AND son's girlfriend's sister. Talk about complicated. You know what else is complicated? These thoughts that he is starting to have about Izzy. He can't make them stop. She is just so bubbly and perfect and beautiful. He finds himself doing everything he can to make her smile. He wants to help her get through whatever it is she is going through. He finds himself bonding with her and talking to her about things he never has. The one thing he won't do though is cross the line. He can't. But when she half crosses it for him, he is all in. He is only human after all. And now they are doing this. They are together and he is planning a future with her. But then something happens to someone he cares about, and his perspective gets shifted. Grief is a heavy, tricky thing. Derrick starts to question things- is he enough for Izzy? Is she going to get tired of him? Are they really forever? Hopefully he can't find the answers before he is too late.

Again really liked this one. I like when authors throw in and are able to navigate heavier topics that people deal with every day. These were two characters that had gone through some things but were at different stages in their lives. And they were able to navigate through together and come out on the other side making them stronger. I am wondering if there will be a book about Layla- maybe there already is?? Looking forward to going back and reading about Reid and Via.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Micalea for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

I really wanted a book for Via's sister after reading 11:11, so I was so excited when I realized Micalea wrote a book for Izzy. I absolutely loved her character in that book, and I was hoping her romance would be with Derrick. They were both standouts in 11 11, and I could not wait to read their romance.

Izzy is a very successful influencer. However, her life gets turned upside down when she gets canceled for an interview she did with a pop star. The backlash has not gone away, even after a few months, so Izzy decides to take a break by staying with her sister in her adorable small town. Her sister doesn't really have space for her, with her new younger boyfriend, so Izzy's assistant offers up her dad's place. She has actually had a crush on Derrick, even though she had tried to set him up on a date with her sister in the previous book. Derrick and Izzy had some mutual pining going on, but Derrick was hung up on their age gap, so this is a super slow burn.

Derrick is major book boyfriend material. He lost his wife and had to raise his kids on his own. He has not really dated much, but he starts to really fall for Izzy. I loved how he would watch Gilmore Girls with her and how he constantly took her out on his boat for whale watching. They spent so much time together, and I could really feel their connection and love. I was so excited once they finally came together, and it was so spicy! I really appreciated that there was not any conflict with their family once they got together.

I did not expect the emotional conflict near the end, and I was definitely tearing up. I just loved everything about this couple, and it was such a sweet read. I highly recommend this for any lovers of age gap and small town.

Thank you to Valentine PR for providing the ARC.

3-4/5⭐️

I was really excited for this book, but it was sort of let down. I wasn’t feeling anything. Literally nothing. The build up to their relationship fell flat, as well as their actual relationship. There was definitely more that could have been added, and I’m a little disappointed.

Izzy comes to Maine and reunites with her sister after she has been "cancelled" on the internet. She doesn't have anywhere to live since her sister has a boyfriend and most hotels/motels are booked because it's busy season. Thus, someone suggests to move in with her sister's boyfriend's father, Derrick.

Derrick was described as broody and built, while Izzy was described as sassy and positive. I thought there would be more banter between them based on how they were described, and I didn't really find that anywhere, unless it was lamely stated. I don't know if the author totally had a complete throughline for this book/characters because it seems there is a lack of connection between the characters besides them constantly stating that they are attracted to each other.

It was a lot more of words and no action to back it up, which I found quite disappointing. I really liked "Eleven Eleven" and I was soooooo excited for this book.

Until Then crafts a beautiful love story, one that does not shy away from fears and doubts, rather embraces all and every hurdle-- and showcases the strength when two kindred souls come together and take a leap of faith.

This is Izzy and Derrick's book and the own is fabulously. Their chemistry is electric from its onset, I loved Izzy's teasing, Derrick's grumpy flirting, and their bantering and romancing. Attraction most certainly no issue, but what held my attention most was the emotional connection. That soul bond between them. There may be close to two decades separating them, but they were at each other's emotional level perfectly. They slowly but surely forged the tools to march on together with strength and certainty, but I also appreciated the hesitation in terms of their romance, from Derrick's concerns with the age gap, to Izzy's uncertainty in her own future career and its location. As a couple they faced very tangible hurdles, but they faced them together. The communication was well done, and it never hindered the gorgeous chemistry. It was a beautiful story to see blossom as it did.

The one quibble I had was I felt there was not enough of a angsty or climatic moment as the finale neared-- but before I knew it, that moment came. And it was heartbreaking, gosh so heartbreaking! I wanted to take my quibble back! Nonetheless, that moment allowed very pragmatic exploration of the age gap between Derrick and Izzy, including fears of the future. I massively respected how they, especially Izzy, faced every single one of those possibilities.

Also yess to the epilogue! I adore epilogues that truly take us into that future, and it was beautiful.

Oh one more thing: I loved how the title came into play in the book! Gorgeous!

If you enjoy slow burn romances, age gaps, and smartly crafted narratives-- be sure to pick up Until Then!

Thank you Valentine PR for this complimentary copy, I leave this honest review voluntarily.

I had such a fun time reading this one!

Imagine this, you get yourself “canceled” online & you run away to a small town where your older sister & assistant/friend live. Your assistant/friend offers for you to crash with her hot single dad for awhile. The thing is, you tried hooking your older sister up with him awhile back & she ended up with his son instead… he’s off limits right?😏🤭
I will eat up a little taboo romance every👏🏼single👏🏼time👏🏼

-Age gap
-Temporary roomies
-Small town
-A little forbidden love
-“Taboo”?

I loved all these characters so much. EVERY single one. The found family was really pulling through in this one & I was obsessed.
I had a soft spot for our MMC Derrick. I mean who wouldn’t? His wife died, he raised his kids basically on his own, he’s lonely. AND HE WAS SO SWEET🥹
Izzy was such a bubbly fun character, I was cracking up so many times throughout the book over things she said. I love when there’s an age gap & you have a bubbly, fun, outgoing girl bring out the young/fun side of a man🤌🏼

Overall, I really enjoyed my time reading this one. I was kicking my feet & laughing so much! I feel like this book teaches us that change can be beautiful & sometimes the simple life… is the best life!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

i just finished this absolute masterpiece by micaela smeltzer! it was so so good—it exceeded all the expectations i had for izzy & derrick's story, their story felt like a slow, lazy sunday on a coastal vacation. it was sweet, emotional, thought provoking, a smidge spicy, and a touch angsty, izzy & derrick's story is the kind of cozy, slow-paced romance that deserved to be to savored

after a celebrity interview goes badly, izzy finds herself spiraling as her influencing career takes a nosedive. desperate for an escape, she flees to parkersville, maine. only, staying with via & reid isn't the most ideal option, and she finds herself moving in with reid's dad. his very hot, rugged, grumpy dad...

i loved everything about this book! as is always with her books, micaela managed to write such a beautiful, authentic love story with real, human characters. this was a slow, sweet romance that felt less forbidden than i'd anticipated with the tropes and all; they were simply living their life. i think that's what i love most about this book the storyline wasn't written around the tropes, instead, it was authentic to the nature of izzy and derrick's relationship.

derrick was indeed rugged and grumpy, but he was also so sweet. the way he loved izzy was precious! it doesn't help that he's also VERY hot and had a filthy mouth and i loved izzy so much! she was so real and genuine and earnest. i could relate so much to her, and i was rooting for her happy ending way back in it:11. love love love her (and her love for the most precious pup in the world, wonton!)

LOVED Izzy and Derrick 🥹🥹

This story was so dang sweet. Sometimes you need a story that has very little conflict and was just a sweet progression and this delivered exactly that.

It’s a slightly forbidden and taboo love story(age gap, Izzy’s sister is dating Derricks son, Derrick also went on one date with Izzy’s sister, it’s a mess but I love them all😆)

The way Izzy and Derricks relationship moved along was so good. From building a sort of friendship with definite attraction to when they finally give in was the best build up. Not quite a slow burn but it felt like it?

Idk I have little to say other than I loved the characters, loved the story and even though there was that bit at the end that made me bawl my eyes out it was still such a perfect book.

Although I haven’t read 11:11 yet, I loved this age-gap romance set in small town Maine. A sexy older man (with two grown children and a granddaughter) and a younger tourist looking for an escape from Hollywood’s suffocating atmosphere have a lot more in common than they think.

4.5 stars 🩷 i wish the epilogues were a bit longer! But I hope the series continues!

If you’ve read 11:11, you know who Izzy and Derrick are. Izzy is Via’s younger sister and Derrick is Reid’s dad. Izzy has been cancelled after a bad interview and decides to spend some time in Maine visiting Via. She’s always thought Derrick was handsome and now finds herself living with him. As hard as they try, they are attracted to one another.

I was so excited for this story when Micalea confirmed it! I love Izzy and Derrick on their own, but put them together and I love them even more. I feel like it’s the perfect fit. Izzy allows Derrick to loosen up and have more fun. He’s spent so much of his life taking care of his kids and granddaughter. And Izzy is on her own journey finding herself. Finding things that bring her joy while still allowing her to vlog. I love that she’s finding new passions that allow her to post, but in a healthier manner. I think that both characters found their home within each other and love that. 4.5 stars

Read this book cover to cover in one sitting. If Micalea writes it, I will read it.

I was DYING for Izzy and Derek in 11:11 and we were not disappointed with their story.

Currently seeking a grumpy, tall, lumberjack looking single dad in a small town who wears face masks and watches Gilmore Girls.

I also think a new microtrope was unlocked for me: getting her dog a pup cup without having to be asked 😭😭💗💗💗 #goals

ARC -

This is my first experience with this author, and I enjoy it! I want to clarify that a 3-star rating is good in my book, even if it might feel low for some.

I really love the age gap trope, and I felt that the connection between the characters was solid. However, I was hoping for more spark—things like soft touches, palpable tension, and that possessive "mine" feeling. It did lean towards insta-love and didn't feel as forbidden as it was made out to be.

All in all a good read, especially if you need something to cleanse with in between more heavier reads!

Quotes:🌊🥑🐋 (spoilers!)

Her smile is so bright, my instinct is to put up a hand to block the shine. A happy Izzy is pure sunshine, chasing away all the shadows.😭☀️

"Your eyes are pretty," I blurt like a teenage boy who doesn't think before he speaks.

Though focusing on the TV helps, I can't stop myself from stealing glances at her every now and again. If she notices, she doesn't show it.

Her praise shouldn't mean any more to me than the average person's, but fuck if it doesn't mean everything.

How can I explain that I'm simultaneously drawn to her like a moth to a flame and terrified of the fire?🫡🥹

like Reese's. That declaration plays over in my mind. Because from her tone, it's pretty clear she wasn't just talking about the peanut butter and chocolate cup. I like Reese's sounded a hell of a lot like ! like you.

I clear my throat, forcing my heart back to its rightful place. "You look beautiful." Her beaming smile makes the churning in my stomach more pronounced.🥹😭

“I like you way too much like that." He takes a step closer. That single move closes far too much space in this small room. I could count every one of his eyelashes if I wanted

He kisses me like if he stops, I might disappear into thin air. It's intense, almost a little forceful, like he wants to sink into me until we become one. l've never been kissed like this-in a way that makes me feel wanted and treasured, desired and revered.

He swallows audibly and fixes his attention on my face. "You're perfect, Izzy. So fucking perfect. You know that?"💋

With his eyes narrowed on me, he grips my chin between his thumb and forefinger. "It can be your favorite word later."

He drops to one knee, forcing me to release him. At the sight of him kneeling on the floor before me, I whimper. 🛐

"God, you're beautiful, Izzy," 😭✋🏻

"Fuck, izzy, you're so pretty."

I cup her cheeks in my hands, rubbing my thumbs over her smooth skin.

"I like her." I like everything about Izzy. How she laughs. How full of life she is. The way her eyes sparkle when she's excited. How much she loves slushies. The list is endless. 🥹😭

At the end, I say. "If you're watching this, then that means I marry him, it also means he's your dad. I love you." Like I finish all of my videos, l add, "Until then."

Then he climbs into bed beside me and pulls me close. He presses a kiss to the top of my bare shoulder.

"We have all the time in the world."

He presses a kiss to the top of my shoulder.

"Eyes on me, pretty girl," 🙇🏻‍♀️

"Izzy." Her name is a soft exhale. "I could never get sick of you." The idea is ludicrous. "You have no idea what you've done for me just by being you. By caring for me. Even if this wasn't happening between us, I wouldn't want you to go."

She smiles over me, and even though the sun is almost gone, it shines directly upon me. That's exactly what Izzy is—my own personal sun. 😫😫🥹🥹🥹☀️

"What do you want? What do you need?" | whisper as he applies pressure to my mouth. "Just you," he answers. "You already have me." He swallows thickly, his eyes taking in every detail of my face.
Then he leans in and kisses me. Slow and sweet. Then more urgent.😫🫶🏻

With a kiss to my temple, Derrick says, "The next time we're in the hospital, it's going to be because you're having my baby."🤭

"For me, until then has always been about the future. Waiting for that something or someone that made me feel complete. The moment where I knew l'd found the place, the feeling I wanted to stay in. I've found my until then in Derrick. He's the beginning and the middle and the end for me."❤️‍🩹

"I'm your until then?" I rub my thumb against her cheek. Her smile is soft, eyes glistening. "You're my everything."

I thought i loved this man before, but witnessing him with our daughter is on a whole new level.

Derrick takes her hand and presses a kiss to her silky skin. 🥹

I have not read the previous book about Izzy's sister, because, honestly, I don't like reading reverse age-gap love stories. But as soon as I found out that the next book would be about Izzy and Derrick (Reid's father from "11:11", I had to read it. I have to say that I just loooved their romance story.

She is an influencer, but a small mistake (not her fault) got her canceled from Hollywood. She decides that it is time for a long-deserved break and comes back to the smalltown where her sister lives. Sadly it turns out, she doesn't have a place to stay in the long term, so her assistant offers her to live with her father for a while. As roommates. Which at first is a bit confusing. But after a while, it turns out to be the greatest love of their lives.

I loved the fact that Izzy and Derrick had time to get to know each other. I mean, there was obviously lust at the beginning, but they didn't act on it straight away. They needed those months to see what a future together would look like. The funny thing is that neither of them knew how the other felt. For Izzy, she had a crush on him for some time, but she thought he didn't like her because she tried to set him up on a date with her sister (before Reid got into the picture). Derrick, on the other hand, was trying to convince himself that he was not worthy of being loved by this beautiful and brave woman. The age difference played a role in his thinking as well. But as soon as they found out the truth that their feelings were mutual, they didn't waste any time at all and got together. From then on, everything became so easy. At one point within the story they were talking about their life together and having children. They were so, so sweet together. I loved them so much as a couple and, in my opinion, they deserved to be happy. I am so glad they found each other. My heart swooned ♥️.

If you think that I won't be talking about smut in this story, you are wrong. Everything between them two was so explosive. I could feel the sizzling chemistry every time they were together. The fire was so damn good and there was steam coming from my ears. There was definitely a proper amount of smut and kink and, I have to be honest, I loooved it 🥵🥵🥵.

Micalea Smeltzer writes incredible stories. She honestly never disappoints me. I am so happy that she wrote Izzy and Derrick's beautiful love story. I will definitely re-read it again in the future.

Overall, I am in love with this couple and to me their story was brilliant ♥️.

first of all , i want to thank valentine pr & micaela smeltzer for sending me this ARC !!! this is my first book read by this author & i absolutely DEVOURED this.

we have izzy , a 27 year old successful content creator who unfortunately deals with a blow to her career. throughout reading this , i felt for izzy. she had such a passion for what she was doing in los angeles , and something that wasn’t even her fault , ruined her career for a bit. which left her questioning what she wanted to do with her career & life path. dealing with this , she decides to move to maine wanting to be closer to her sister , via.

what miss izzy doesn’t expect , is to have a bond with derrick and things go on from there. that’s all im going to say without spoiling , so you’re going to have to wait until this book releases on october 16th !!! i just have to say that this was such an amazing read !! i loved the banter between izzy & derrick. i loved the relationship she had with her sister , overall this book just made my heart beam with happiness. but what im not going to talk about is the STRESS i endured towards the end of the book , miss ma’am , i was having a heart attack pls.

izzy- i loved her character and her development throughout this book. i really love how she grew and really thought about what she wanted in life & most importantly what made HER happy. her character was so relatable & likable. can we just talk about her cutie dog wonton ??? please. so damn cute. oh , and her love for matcha ??? so me.

derrick- you allllll know a grumpy mmc is EVERYTHING to me & this man delivered. when i tell you that he was broody & grumpy but melted for her ? *disintegrates* i felt for him too , after losing his wife , this poor man was lonely and just wanted someone , and that unlikely someone was izzy.

their relationship was so beautiful throughout this book , and both epilogues had me sobbing happy tears. i will definitely be reading more books by this author , literal perfection. oh , & the title of the book ties in at the end & i am a MESS. I LOVE IT. 😭

this book releases on october 16th !! please , i beg of you , read it.

This was a cute and hilarious age gap, small town, single dad.

For an influencer, getting canceled is one of the worst things that can happen, and Izzy knows all too well what that's like. Looking to get away, she decides to visit her sister, who just re-started her life with a guy much younger than her. Not wanting to impose in their bliss, the solution to not pop their bubble comes in the form of her sister's father-in-law.

Derrick has gotten used to being alone. Having Izzy invade his space shouldn't make him so happy. Both are great at keeping their feelings for each other a secret, so it's great for the reader to see them develop a strong friendship, while also feeling the slowest of delicious burns. But my gosh, once they give in, THEY GIVE IN!

I loved how mature their relationship was. There's so much communication and trust between them. Izzy was an absolute joy! She had me giggling with her antics. Poor Derrick had to just go along for the ride.

ARC REVIEW - 4.5⭐

description

If you love Hallmark movies, you will enjoy this book wholeheartedly. Derrick and Izzy are nothing short of beautiful in this book. To truly love their story, read the first book, Eleven Eleven. It starts with Reid (Derrick's son) and Via (Izzy's sister). This companion book was written because there was something more to discover between Derrick and Izzy and I'm so glad it was done.

We head back to Maine with this book and to the small nautical town of Parkerville. If you love a gentleman who is hot and well respected; who has all the ladies turning their heads in town, longing to snag a date, it's Derrick. He came across as such a beautiful man, in his 40s, a single dad who is rather lonely. He's come to the fact that he will remain alone and that's the future that's put in front of him, but when he comes home to find Izzy in his kitchen, things change.

Izzy needed a change and came to Maine to be close to her sister. When she arrives she needs a place to stay and ends up staying with Derrick. She always had a crush on him so when the offer is presented to her, she takes it. She's like Via in many ways with her long brown hair, sunkissed skin and knack for design. She is beautiful in many ways and Derrick can't seem to keep his eyes off her.

This book was like a fine wine, it grew more beautiful the more I read. It's a slow burn, partly because they're oblivious to their attraction to each other and I dare say, a large age gap (18 years). When they finally come together things feel right and their sex is explosive. A real true love story that made me smile. It was beautifully written, shared POV and ended in two gorgeous HEAs. A special mention to Wonton: the white fluffy dog that will capture your heart. This duet is a must-read to add to your tbr.

Going into this book, I was already so excited. I adored the first book, 11:11, and was looking forward to seeing Derrick and Izzy's story. Now finished with it, I can promise you it did not disappoint. Micalea always writes such amazing novels, but this one was phenomenal.

In 11:11, you see Izzy set up Derrick with her sister. It was interesting to see them go from that to this. The pace that they fell for each other was perfect. I loved the tension, flirting, teasing, and watching them slowly fall into place. The small town vibe was perfect as well as all the unique personalities in the town.

Izzy is an amazing main character. She's driven, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to voice her thoughts. Also, her love for Wonton is nothing but a green flag. Izzy isn't afraid of change and follows her heart wherever it leads her. She loves the people in her life fully and will be there for them through anything. She really grew during her time away from LA, and even though she was going through a hard time she stayed positive.

Derrick is your classic grumpy man in his 40's that you just can't help but fall for. He keeps to himself until he's comfortable, but will give you all of him. He's devoted to those he loves. Hearing him talk about his wife made my heart break for him and I just wanted to give him a hug. Derrick was adorable with his granddaughter and Wonton, and I really enjoyed watching as he opened up to the idea of love again.

This story was beautiful and adorable with perfect chemistry in a gorgeous setting. These characters are so easy to love. Until Then releases October 16th. Thank you Valentine PR & Micalea for the ARC!

I loved derrick and izzy’s story sooo much! it had me up until 3 in the morning reading! definitely a slow burn but it was a perfect build up to the start of their relationship and their banter was hilarious and endearing. did I mention they watch gilmore girls together?! soo much tension and great spice. I found both characters very relatable and I loved that they had such depth to them. there is mention of a loss of loved one so note that if it is one of your triggers. overall, I thought this was a really beautiful, endearing, and emotional love story. 4.25 stars!
