grumpy x sunshine is literally such a fun trope, how the girl teases the absolute life out of the guy, and he just can’t say anything back because he loves her. I LOVE IT!!
• These books can technically be read as standalones, but it’s kind of better if you read the previous ones because there ARE certain things here that only make sense if you've read them.

⌞ Venezia Cainn & Rafael Gustav ⌝
22 - 36

to prove herself, venezia asked her brother to let her spy on rafael—her brother's rival—and retrieve something important (from events of book 3). so, she applied to become his assitant.

WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT PLAYED OUT 😭 ugh, this was such a cute story. not gonna lie, rafael was seriously grumpy at first, but venezia, being the cutest chatterbox and so clumsy, just made me love her. her character reminded me a lot of Hande Ercel in Ask Laftan Anlamaz.

their whole relationship dynamic was super cute. even though it doesn’t have much angst, it still managed to get me emotional. those last few chapters had me teary-eyed 🥹 i loveeee forbidden romance hajsjsjs. rafael was so obsessed with venezia, and his silent, grumpy personality definitely suffered for it 😂 there are so many cute scenes in it.

and it also touches really serious & heavy topics. not much is explained considering it's a short book, but still, the things Venezia faced made me feel so sad for her and Rafael's reasons (though they do not justify his actions), kind of makes sense and i felt bad for him too.

i never really appreciated remo before, but damn, he's actually a great brother. one thing did bug me a bit, but i'll let it slide. rafael’s family was adorable, and the brothers are all such nice guys 🥲 AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: AMBROSE AND HELIA'S BABY BOY!!! 🥹💕

• it's such a short read, 265 pages, and the pace is good. And i seriously need Second-Gen series by Akwaah! Thankyou for the arc <3

I think I ate this up within a matter of hours ?? It was so fast-paced, easy & quick to read, but also so entertaining. There were plenty of emotional & heart touching moments, so of course I cried😋 I also laughed plenty of times over Rafael’s & Remo’s rivalry, especially once Rafael & Venezia started dating openly & rubbing it in Remo’s face🤭

Venezia is brave, confident, bubbly, & a huge chatterbox, but beneath this outgoing exterior is a hurt & emotional woman who can’t stand silence due to her dark & lonely past. Rafael is grumpy, broody, ruthless, dangerous & an asshole if you don’t know him on a deeper level.

I absolutely loved the way Venezia got on Rafael’s nerves on purpose🤭 their bickering was entertaining, their vulnerability with each other was wholesome, the way they slowly opened up to one another was so cute to witness, & watching Rafael put his ego aside for Venezia was so charming🫠 the third act breakup HURT & was so emotional, but I loved their reunion & the way Rafael LITERALLY got down on his knees to beg for her to come back🫦 A MAN.

Thank you to Akwaah for the arc 💛

ARC review :
5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had to give 5 stars cause that's the maximum limit otherwise this book is a 100 ⭐ for me.

I was already in love with Akwaah's writing when I read Tangle of obsession last year. She has come a long way. This series is really close to my heart and I love all the characters so much ❤️. This book especially has a very special place in my heart.

I was a goner for Rafael from the very first moment he made an appearance. The way he loves Venezia and doesn't think even for a second to go to any length for her makes my heart full. Venezia also has captured my heart. Us readers have been with her on this journey since Remo's book(Bitter Deception) and she has always been the sweetest and in this book we get to see her confident and boss girl personality. The way she stays put in her way and doesn't let anyone pull her down makes me admire her. The way she made Rafael Gustav kneel for her quite literally 🛐🤌🏻

After finishing this book my heart is full and empty at the same time because I don't think it's possible to find a love so pure and unconditional like theirs 🫶🏻

ARC READ
3.5⭐️ 2.5🌶️
So this is my first Akwaah K book and i will most likely try more of her writing. Thank you for the ARC! It was definitely enjoyable!

Things that I loved:
- I LOVED the plot, i truly was enjoying the story and wanting to see what happened next.
- The Characters, Venezia was so fun and relatable. She was so likeable that you could just understand where she was coming from and how difficult it was for her. With stories like this it’s hard not to get frustrated with the FMC but Venezia was done really well that you actually emphasized with her. Rafael was also very likable, very grump but still also funny to watch slowly open up and be as loveable as she is.
-The relationship between the characters I also enjoyed reading. I loved seeing Venezia and Rafael fall for each other, the grumpy x sunshine and also how Rafael literally cracked open for her. Her relationship also with her brother was so sweet to read.
- The spice was a good amount! It didn’t feel forced and wasn’t too much where it overtook the story

Things I didn’t like
- I wouldn’t say this was a huge turn off it was just something that threw me off. The writing style was very different then what i’m used to. It was very fast paced and kept hopping from scene to scene where I get confused on where are they at right now.
Thats literally all that I disliked hahah. but again maybe it’s because i’m not used to it.

Overall great story and loved the romance! I am looking forward to read her other works

This book literally had me on my knees. My full rating for this book is 5/5. Thank you very much, Akwaah for giving me the ARC copy of Forbidden Deception.

If you prefer a book with age gap, grumpy x sunshine, past trauma, employer x CEO; then this book is for you.

I absolutely loved the relationship Venezia had with Remo even after meeting each other again and how sweet Rafael was with Venezia. He is seriously a words of affirmation kind of guy.

The one thing I loved truly about Forbidden Deception is that it showed the true meaning of why there are Sunflowers on the book cover and I loved the little peaks of whenever yellow was mentioned. It was so surreal and cute.

When they decided to go the beach to do..hmm, figure it out in the book, and hint hint it's romantic to me. Venezia literally gave him the biggest side eye 😭 She just has to be my comfort character.

Hello??? When he said “You wanna play this game? Fucking Fine.” I felt like somebody crashed my body into a body of water. And yes, I cannot swim 😌

When Venezia was saying “his very hard, very thick, very long..” EXCUSE MUAH? MISS GIRL IS TRYNA SEND ME 6 FEET UNDER!

The part that made me laugh the most was “Sure, brother-in-law.”
Remo looked so done with the two and Rafael just decided to smirk at his face about it. 😂

Let me just blush at the part where he said “Lift your legs for me, Love.”

The fact that Remo could not stop muttering “Fucker” to Rafael through out the whole of their wedding was funny.

I loved it when Lavinia decided to give the cookie to Rafael too and not only Venezia.

The Deception Series has come to an end with this book :')

This story is a lot more wholesome and soft than her other stories, which fits the personality of the main characters imo, because honestly i think they have enough trauma, they just need love and warmth, and sunshine 🌻 - which both the characters provide for each other, the way they love each other is playful, soft, and wholesome.

Venezia has yapper rizz, she's an intelligent young woman, a little evil and very sweet. Her character is very different from the previous two FLs too, maybe because she's younger, getting exposed to the world for the first time on her own, and is so excited to navigate. Her and Medora's friendship made me giggle, i support women's rights a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶o̶m̶e̶n̶'̶s̶ ̶w̶r̶o̶n̶g̶s̶.̶

Rafael is a grumpy guy who just needed someone stubbornly loving and comforting - that is Venezia. Once his grump is dissolved, he's gentle, and wants to learn her. He's agressive internally, because of how he has been objectified for money throughout his life, his internal monologue overtime gets softer when he's with her, and it's nice to see him melt. Venezia ,quite literally has bought Rafael to his knees, multiple times.

Throughout the book, the sunflowers, pizza, traveling etc. shows how simple this couple is, if only they didn't meet in such unfortunate situations. The thrill and mystery made me gasp, my jaw? On the floor. I felt so bad for the two during the conflict, both of them desperate for the other.

The epilogue was ADORABLE. I wanted to eat baby Lavinia's cheeks 🥹 Rafael was blending well with the Cainn family despite him and Remo glaring at each other every five minutes 🤣 Remo having beef with everybody has to be my favourite thing in this series LMAO. Seeing the Torre Sisters happy, seeing the entire found family trope bloom to life, LIKE A SUNFLOWER made my insides warm.

Akwaah has done it again... she has managed to get me in my feelings with her characters. This whole series has been about betrayals and, oh my God, Akwaah does it so well! I loved Rafael and Venezia's story. He was a bit meaner to Venezia with his words than Helia was to Ambrose. He did quickly open up to Venezia though. Their story's grumpy x sunshine elements were just immaculate and brought all the other tropes together to perfection! The game of truth or dare had me giggling and kicking my feet. I even showed my sister, ok? She was shocked.

Venezia and Rafael developed and evolved beautifully from beginning to end. Of course, the betrayal hit all the spots that needed to. I spent my time thinking, "How are they going to get back together? "When are they going to get back together?" Let me tell you, I was surprised that Rafael begged for her—to her brother—his rival! Like, do you understand that situation?

It was amazing. Akwaah K. writes her books so well that I can't put them down. Her mmcs are the definition of men written by a woman. They are dark yet still have a soft spot for their women.
Venezia my baby. The life she went through was very hard for her. Her sunshine personality is the evidence that she is so strong not just a girl who speaks a lot. Each of her friendships with Medora and Danyi is so different yet they are the most precious people in her life. They helped her during her hard times by being the best friends ever.
Rafael and his brother are very protective of themselves as well as their women and children. Each one of them is different, but when they come together, they are like puzzle pieces coming together. Especialy Mikko. He guided Rafael to the right path and protected him with all he had and more. Khyros, the silent one, is the voice of reason during hard times. (by the way can't wait to know more about his story)
Rafaele and Venezia are so alike... they both suffered so much but are strong enough to get to this point in their lives. I fell in love with them since their first meeting. Rafael's test and Venezia's success in all of them were so satisfying to read. When Venezia stood up for herself after Rafael's torture, I was like, "Go girl, go, you can break his walls." Rafael being possessive of Venezia made me melt like butter. This man and his words are amazing. Like "My assistant is what you call yourself, don't you? Why don't you take care of this problem for me then ?" I melt here too. How he pursued her and tried for them to be together.
The mc's love for sunflowers and their sunflowers growing and flourishing at the end of the book was so emotional especially Rafael's. 💛
My heart broke for Venezia every time she thought they didn't have a chance in love. My baby suffered the most out of all of this. Venezia wanted to have the love of her life and her brother in her life so she couldn't choose between them. Rafael taking a step toward her and amending his rivalry with Remo is so romantic. I melted🫠. I wish more men like him existed. 🤎
The engagement party was so heartwarming I couldn't hold my smile back.
The cameo of the previous couples Aurora&Remo, Heila&Ambrose and their children made me so happy I can't describe it. Ambrose finally embracing her "dark side" filled me with joy.
Venezia and Remo's relationship is the most beautiful relationship I have ever read. They are the best siblings. Remo's protectiveness is another heartwarming point.
This book was amazing and filled with nostalgia and beautiful memories. Both of the mc's are badass and deserve each other and more. I fell in love with Rafael like Venezia. It was a good book series. I can't wait to read more from Akwaah K. She is amazing like her books. I am a bit sad that this series ended, but I'm also looking forward to the next books that will come.

4.5⭐️| I fear that this might be my favorite book out of the series 🥹

this book was so amazing and heartwarming at the same time. Getting to see all the couples from the previous books and how far they’ve come made me tear. I loved these characters so much and I realized how much I’m going to miss them. They really felt like real people who you went to visit every holiday and just enjoyed spending time with.

now to VeneziaxRafael’s book. This book felt like a warm hug from your favorite person. Everything about this book was spectacular: the aesthetic, the characters, the romance. There were so many cute and romantic moments between both characters and sometimes it felt as if they would speak to each other with their hearts and no words were needed. The development of both characters was very realistic and at the same time very touching especially because had past/present chapters . As a reader you got more insight in why both characters are the way they’re. Rafael and Venezia are truly soulmates and made for each other. I couldn’t imagine someone better for Venezia. Even though we’ve never got to meet or get to know Rafael in the previous books it felt like as if I’ve known him for a very long time. I loved how open and honest he was towards Venezia and her feelings. And just everything about him. I truly hope that I’ll find a Rafael in my life as well. Someone who’ll cherish and love me the way he loves Venezia.

Remo. Remo,Remo, Remo the man you are. I love you so much. Literally one of the best brotherxsister relationship.

here are some of my favorite quotes from the book ❤️‍🩹:

“If I am hurt, upset, happy, he is there to notice it all. Remo, he is everything to me. ”

“It’s her. Her personality. Her beauty. Who she is.”

“When you truly feel deeply for someone, you are always ready to give them the world. ”

“I hope you decide that, maybe, we are both a broken part of the puzzle that don’t fit with anyone else but each other,”

a huge thank you to @akwaah for giving me the opportunity and chance get to know these amazing and beautiful characters and for being part of their journey. Thank you for giving and making readers feel understood and valued. I’m beyond grateful and honored. Let’s see where the journey takes us. 🤍

Please be sure to read the author’s note and the trigger warnings because this book touches on heavy topics.

What to Expect:
💛 Brother’s Rival
🖤 Age Gap
💛 Forced Proximity
🖤 Secret Identity
💛 Forbidden Romance
🖤 Boss x Employee
💛 Betrayal & Trauma
🖤 Grumpy x Sunshine

“For those who think they don’t belong. There is a perfect match made to help you recognize that you do.”

Forbidden Deception, book 4 in the Deception series, is a true gem. This story is absolutely adorable. While you could dive in here, reading the series in order adds so much depth to the rich web of characters and relationships that span each book. Though not a dark romance, it does have a few darker elements to keep things interesting.

Venezia is an absolute sunshine of a character. Her bubbly personality is both her strength and a testament to her resilience after everything she's endured. Her friendships with Medora and Danyi are heartwarming and uniquely special; they're the support system that carried her through tough times and made her shine even brighter.

And then there’s Rafael—a protective, silent type who tries so hard to keep his feelings under wraps. Rafael starts off as a major grump, but Venezia, with her sweet, clumsy, chatterbox personality, completely wins him over. His silent obsession with Venezia, paired with his grumpy exterior, is just perfection. The way he and his brother fiercely protect their families adds depth to his character, and their interactions are like puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together.

Rafael and Venezia are two souls who’ve endured so much but have emerged stronger. Their connection is instant, and I was drawn to them from their first encounter. Their dynamic is irresistibly cute, and even without heavy angst, the emotional pull had me hooked—especially in those final chapters that left me teary-eyed.

Forbidden Deception is an emotional whirlwind, with Rafael and Venezia’s intense connection keeping me on the edge of my seat. This book is heartwarming and spectacular in every way. This one’s definitely an emotional rollercoaster you won’t forget!

Thank you to the author, Akwaah K., for the ARC opportunity.

OMFG THIS BOOK!! THIS FREAKING DAMN BOOK!! This book was singlehandedly my favorite from this entire series. It had me a sobbing mess. (Only because im an emotional girl and anything remotely sad makes me cry, so leave me alone.) This book was so freaking good and the tropes in the book, ugh I love me an office age gap romance with the forbidden romance, I will always eat that up!

I freaking knew the second I met Venezia in Bitter Deception, I would love her and god do I. This woman has been through so much and when she takes on a mission for her brother in the same town she had a past. Little did she know she will end up falling for the one guy her brother assigned her to get dirt on since he holds the video of her brother Remo unaliving Aurora’s dad. But instead she slowly falls in love with him, this broody man also falls deep for her. Her teasing him, her annoying him, her speaking all the time and just not backing down when he tries to make her quit, he ends up falling for those things. Ugh, Venezia having to betray Rafael when he’s finally learned to trust someone broke my heart. Like you knew Venezia didn’t want to do it, but she felt like she had no choice because she begged her brother for this job and betraying the same brother who went through hell and back to find her, obviously she couldn’t do that to him too. But then also betraying the love of her life was also not what she wanted. She was stuck between choosing the two people she loved most and was willing to sacrifice her love for them both by walking away. God that had my heart broken!
Rafael is amazing, I absolutely did not think he would take Remo’s spot but damn this man was just so perfect! I loved him so much! I genuinely never wanted their story to end. When I finished it I was begging for more but then I forgot this was the last book in this series and I had to say bye not only to then but also the previous couples which I was so not ready to do. But good things do come to end and I know @ won’t disappoint us with whatever she has planned next.

✨ I received this book as an ARC for my honest review✨

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Akwaah is still a new author to me but I fell in love with Darkness Deception so I had to give this book a try and well! And let me tell you, she did not disappoint! I could not put this book down! It has everything I love – an addictive storyline, grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, brothers rival, and let me not forget that he FALLS HARD FOR HER🥵

Venezia and Rafael’s chemistry was off the charts. Venezia is a smart, confident, and independent woman who exudes so much light, but there's so much depth to her, especially given her dark past. Rafael, on the other hand, is the grumpy, brooding, and dangerous guy who, despite his tough exterior, has a soft side that I fell for ♥️ Their grumpy x sunshine dynamic was *chef's kiss*. Venezia knows exactly how to get under Rafael's skin in the most fun way, and their playful bickering had me laughing nonstop. The truth and game was top-notch!

The plot is full of tension, secrets, and drama, but it's also heartwarming to see how these two slowly open up to each other. The way they support each other and grow together was beautiful, especially with all the emotional ups and downs they go through. Their relationship was so genuine – I loved how they never gave up on each other, even when things got tough. The third-act breakup? Ouch, it hurt, but their reunion had me swooning! Rafael literally got down on his knees to beg for her to come back – I mean, *wow*. Why can’t men like this exist in the real world? 😭🤧

And let's talk about Remo Cainn... WOW. That jaw-dropping twist had me absolutely hooked. The rivalry between him and Rafael adds a whole extra layer to the story, and I was here for it. When Remo got revenge I was LIVING FOR IT!! I also loved the little cameos from characters in the previous books – seeing Ambrose and Helia’s baby was such a sweet touch.

Honestly, if you haven't started this series yet, do yourself a favor and dive in!

First and foremost I was really grateful for this arc (It's by Akwaah) and I enjoyed reading it very much. I got to see the cameo of my fav characters which was the cherry on top. Also, this book was very different than the previous ones and it's characters were nothing like the previous ones.
Venezia is the sister of Remo Cain who is the biggest rival of Rafael and he has a footage of him by which he's blackmailing him. So, to erase that footage Venezia has wore a cloak to spy on hum but things get changed and now she has given her heart to him even though she knows it's forbidden. But who doesn't love a forbidden fruit, right?
Rafael is not the man he seems to be. The image he portrays of himself is a ruthless business tycoon who doesn't spare anyone but from inside he's a softie especially for Venezia. Although at the start he despised her because of her bubbly personality but then that personality warms upto him. Venezia has erupted deep darkest desire and feelings inside Rafael's heart and the only thing he now wants is him but he doesn't know that Venezia isn't the Venezia she seems to be. She's hiding something.
This book is very different from the rest of the series and it's quite very fast paced. The chemistry really starts showing after 55% in the book and it ended very soon like it should've been longer (it was 250 pages)
Each of the characters arc was portrayed very well and omg did I tell you there was BETRAYAL!! I personally love this trope! This book was pretty intense from the start and is great for readers who likes to read romance with intense and a lil darkness.

thank you akwaah for a copy of this book HEHE

4.25★!

this series has had a chokehold on me, and the growth in akwaah's writing is so so GOOD. she's been listening to everyone's feedback and keeping everyone FED.

venezia and rafael, where should I even start with them.... im just so obsessed, I flew through the last 40% of this book within one sitting. I WAS GLUEDDDD TO MY SEAT. I honestly was not expecting to love them as much as I did. They were just so right for one another, the way that they quietly and loudly cared for each other.

rafael gustav, a man obsessed. he was wholly in love with her, he would do anything she asked. especially that one specific scene of the jet, oh. it broke me, genuinely visualising the pain and the feelings he was going through in that moment for her. the gustav family was also the sweetest ever, they always had each others' back and would do anything for one another.

venezia cainn, my girl. she's been through hell and back yet is still sunshiney as ever. her need to not fail makes her so real, and the way she is just so feely with her feelings made me smile. remo and her relationship makes me smile as they genuinely have so much love for e/o as siblings it was so so cute.

I love this series so much, it feels like the kind of family you would meet during the holidays, just like a warm hug. I can't wait to read more of akwaah's works >ᴗ<

Thank you soooo much @Akwaah for sending me the ARC of Forbidden Deception! 🥹🫶💛

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I’m devastated.😩
I can’t believe this series is over. Seriously, how am I supposed to move on? 😭😭 This was the last book of the deception series and I savoured this book 🤌💯💛

Let’s talk about Rafael ! That man 😩🫶 Ugh, the way he’s such a “words of affirmation” guy with Venezia melted my heart. I’m swooning so hard I can’t even function. He is obsessed with his girl. He can’t breathe without her. He gets on his knees and begs for her. He’s everything I imagined and more—literally perfection.

Akwaah’s writing completely pulled me in—it’s so beautiful and compelling. Honestly, it pulled me right out of my reading slump.

What stood out the most to me was how she crafts such layered, complex characters. Rafael’s growth throughout the story was breathtaking. Watching him slowly break down the walls he’s spent years building? It was equal parts heart-wrenching and satisfying.

Compared to Remo and Helia, Rafael has this softer, darker edge to him, and it made his journey feel even more unique in the series. Akwaah truly knows how to create characters that stick with you long after you’ve turned the last page.

I absolutely adored the connection between Venezia and Remo, even after all those years apart. The way Remo protects and softens for Venezia makes me wanna have a big brother. 🥹💕

Every detail, every moment of this book —it was everything.🤌💛

If you’re into age-gap romance, grumpy x sunshine, employee x CEO relationships, and characters with past trauma, then this is your next read.

P.s : Dear Akwaah, I’m begging you for extra scenes, bonus content, anything! I need something to fill the void this book has left in me. Help! 😫💛

•••REVIEW••••☆

Forbidden Deception is one of those books that hooks you right from the start and doesn’t let go. It’s full of tension, drama, and a romance you can’t help but root for.

When Venezia hears that her brother plans to send someone to spy on his rival, Rafael. The mission? To retrieve a video that shows her brother killing his father-in-law. Instead of sitting on the sidelines, Venezia jumps at the chance to take on the job herself because she wants to work under someone other than her brother.

Enter Rafael the man of mystery, the guy who’s cooler than an iced latte and even more dangerous. He’s the kind of guy who collects secrets like they’re rare Pokémon cards, and he’s not shy about using them to get what he wants.

As Venzia and Rafael spend more time together, the lines between professional and personal start to blur, and they begin to fall for each other in a way neither of them expected. Venzia is torn between loyalty to her family and the undeniable pull she feels toward Rafael.

i would recommend not only this book but this whole series to everyone! it’s such a great read i love the characters and storyline is soooo good!! Akwaah is such a fantastic author and i just love everything that she writes! I wish I had a sixth star, but this book deserves all five that I can give.

🌻ARC REVIEW🌻

So grateful to have received the arc for forbidden deception. I can’t believe the deception series has come to an end the feeling is bittersweet 🥹

All books within the deception series can be read as standalones, though I suggest reading it in order as some things makes sense as the events take place in books prior to book 4.

By far Grumpy x Sunshine will be one of my fav tropes, I love how Venezia gets on Rafael’s nerves but in a fun teasing way - she truly keeps the guy on his toes 😭 and he can’t say no to her, love it so much!

Venezia Cainn an independent woman who is confident and knows how to stand up for her self. I love how she never gave up when working with Rafael got to stressful, she always stuck to her happy chatty self and we love that. 💛

Rafael Gustav may be a grumpy and serious guy on the outside but he is such a sweetheart to those dearest to him. Like when he waters Venezia’s plants - it’s the littlest acts that mean the most. 💛

The relationship between Venezia and Rafael was beautiful. I love how they both were there for each other and supported one another and never gave up on their love.

And REMO CAINN oh my word AKWAAH you had my jaw LITERALLY dropped towards the end. NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE CAN MESS WITH REMO CAINN. When I read about Rafael I was like “oh him and Remo are kinda the same” but NO Akwaah proved us wrong and I loved reading every bit of that scene.

I also loved how we got to see some cameos of the characters from the previous books in the series. Ambrose and Helia’s baby - I felt so happy for them 🥹💖

I would recommend this book if you like:
🌻 age gap
🌻 brothers rival
🌻 forbidden
🌻 betrayal
🌻 secret identity

Once again Thank You Akwaah for giving me the opportunity to arc read truly appreciate it. I’m so proud of you 💖 and I can’t wait to read more of your future books!

I loved the book because of the beautifully written chemistry between the characters and I was so surprised to see it written so perfectly in such short pages.
I thought that a book under 300 pages cannot be written with plots and it'll be an insta love plot( which I hate btw). But the author nailed the slow chemistry and the development of the relationships within characters very accurately. Tho, I felt like the ending was a little rushed but I cannot expect a very detailed ending from a short spanned book.
Raphael Gustav is literally PERFECT. I CAN'T GET OVER HIM. THEIR AGE GAP WAS SO MESSY AND HOT. He was hotter than Remo and Helia. HE WAS THE BEST MALE PROTAGONIST IN THE WHOLE DECEPTION SERIES. I loved Venezia too because she wasn't very typical about her past traumas and was more likely moving on from that without playing out the victim card everywhere like a fragile little baby or something.

(FROM THE BOOK)
and my favourite part of the book?
Raphael literally begging Venezia to kiss him with the dialogue, "End this torment, end it for me." LIKE WHAT?HELLO?SO HOT.

I’m in tears 🥲🥲🥲. I can’t believe this series is over as well. 😭😭😭

When I tell you I need more of this couple so badly! It was absolutely amazing! Raphael has my second heart because we all know that place is for Helia and Helia only!

Anyway, tell me why Raphael is the most perfect man that anyone can ask for? Like, is my man obsessed? Yes. Is my man unable to breath without his girl? Yes. Did he get down on his knees and beg for her? Hell fkn YES!

Agh *swooning so hard* right now. 😩😩🫠🫠🫠
I don’t know what to do right now. You put me in a book slump dear author. And I need at the very least extra scenes of the couples or even scraps of anything. I’m begging you I need something to get me over this book!

Where do I even begin? I loved every second of this book! I have so many thoughts I wish I could put them all into this review.

The plot, characters, storyline, writing style, and tropes were all the perfect combination to get me hooked from the first page!

Venezia & Rafael have my heart; it has been a while since I fell in love with the characters in a book so intensively. The raw emotions these two characters brought out of me while reading the story; their story was just the best time of intense & emotional ride.

It was impossible to not fall head over heels with Rafael; the way this man is utterly obsessed with Venezia got me SWOONING. Venezia was such a determined character and I loved her for it; I loved how she is the sunshine to Rafael’s grumpiness, they couldn’t be more perfect for each other even in they tried.

Forbidden Deception by Akwaah K
⭐⭐⭐.5 stars

As the fourth and final book in the Deception series, I was left wanting more from this book. The premise, of Venezia going undercover to get blackmail materials of out of Rafael's hands is a good one, and there are some ideas and moments in the book that are well done, however, I was overwhelmingly left wanting more: more description of how people at work treated Venezia, more insight into Rafael's thinking and how it changed over time, etc. The bones of the ideas and there, but when it came to the final execution there could have been more.

Another big issue I have is the romance just happens one day. I feel like there could have been a few more moments of tension and attraction before the first love scene. And those love scenes just didn't have the same panache as in the first three books either. As per usual, when I don't love a book, it's just my opinion, and maybe this book is a better fit for a different reader.

"I think I need someone older just a little bit colder."
Yeah that's right, this line perfectly suits him.

I am a sucker for slow burn romance and Akwaah perfectly delivered it.
Rafael, this man literally went on his knees in front of his rivals for her...😭
The way he loves her even after knowing her betrayal>>>😭❤️

Also I love his brothers too, the way they were with Venezia and took revenge for her..

This was truly a 5 star read. The plot, the time jumps, the storyline and character development trough out the book. I absolutely loved it and i fell in love with venezia and rafael just like how i fell in love with remo and aurora and ambrose and helia. The change dynamics were perfect and everything just made sense. Would highly recommend truly a 11 outta 10 read!

A beautiful book that I devoured in one sitting... the only thing I didn’t like was how Rafael was described as very handsome in almost every line ;)

Thank you Akwaah K. for providing an e-ARC!

Forbidden Deception is the fourth and final installment to Akwaah's Deception Series, a standalone novel following Remo's sister, Venezia Cainn with her brother's rival, Rafael Gustav.

I am thankful to receive an e-ARC of this book and I devoured it within two hours from when it was sent. To say this book is magnificent is an understatement.

Venezia and Rafael now have a special place in my heart. Their story is emotional at a different level than the other three books. Both of them have undergone things and witnessed things that made them the way they are.

Akwaah's writing style was compelling and beautiful. I loved reading with the flow of the writing style and pulled me out of a reading slump.

The way she creates compelling and complex characters is beautiful. Rafael’s character development is breathtaking. Watching him break down the walls he spent years building was both heart-wrenching and thrilling. Unlike Remo and Helia, Rafael is a softer and dark man in the series.

Venezia's bright and dramatic spirit is fuelled with determination. She's a ray of sunshine in Rafael's life and pulls him out of the dark world. She's stubborn and fierce, always with a sense of protectiveness, always thankful for everyone and everything.

The pacing was a bit fast but it was perfect and I had no qualms of putting the book down. I was deeply plunged into the world of deception.

What I think sold me the book was in general the character arcs and development. It was never out of the blue or ridiculous. It seemed so natural and real that it still maintained the characters original qualities.

The chemistry between Rafael and Venezia was sizzling with anticipation with a rollercoaster of emotions and heartwrenching healing.

Overall, this book plays a perfect and soft conclusion to the series and is recommended for readers who want dark themes with a mix of soft and dark romance with slow burn tension.
