Seastone Seasons #2

Home Between Homes

Rate this book
Dog Sitter and House Cleaner snowed in on Christmas. Noah's goal for this Christmas? To get away from everyone and everything.

So, taking a job as a dog and house sitter in Seastone, a town no one had ever heard of, was a no-brainer. He jumps in his car and drives for ten hours, only to discover that the first person he meets is someone from his past.

When Jack approached, it took Noah a minute to remember him from their college days and another minute to get over Jack's adorable smile. Noah tried not to engage. Their shared past was a cruel reminder of what Noah was trying to get away from.

Of course, they keep running into each other: at the gas station, at the grocery store, and even at Noah's temporary home, where it turns out Jack is the devoted housekeeper.

But when the predicted blizzard arrives earlier and worse than expected, they suddenly find themselves snowed in together for an entire week.

Enough time to explore their pasts - and each other.

Home Between Homes is a sweet and spicy, gay, new adult, friends-to-lovers romance following dog sitter Noah and house cleaner Jack. Expect some unplanned proximity in a small town, lots of snow, a fluffy old dog, and a happy ever after. This standalone novella is book two of Seastone Seasons.

DNF 43%. The author is new to me and I picked this one up on a whim. The story seems cute enough but not really for me. I’m a little squicked out by a dog sitter having sex in his client’s house. I would not be happy if a stranger who was house/dog sitting for me was fucking in my house… 🙅🏻‍♀️😒🥴

Such an easy 5 ⭐️. I just love how Flynn Woods characters are so easy. There is some angst but everyone can communicate like the adults they are. This one made me cry, Noah and Jack were just so sweet and so relatable. Noah is trying to find his footing, after falling out of love with a profession he loves but worked him to the bone. He finds himself in Seastone to house/dog sit in the midst of a blizzard and finds Jack and old college friend. We met Jack in the previous book, a lonely young handyman. Who puts his all into others and leaves very little for himself. These two get snowed in together, make soup, and the rest is history. The subtle way Woods writes about anxiety is just emotional enough, but not too heavy.
There were a few tears shed towards the end because these two guys love is just so sweet!

Snowbound in Seastone

Noah is so stressed out and broken after his first stint as a Veterinary that he gave up and his father found him another desk bound job in the FDA in the New Year.

Bowed down by thousands of dollars in student loans, he takes a job as a house and dog sitter 400 miles from his home in Glen Creek and heads to Seastone, a little town in the mountains of Pennsylvania. When he arrives at the home in the middle of a snow storm he’s met by the McCormack’s, an elderly couple heading off on a search for sunshine break for 10 days. He meets Maggie, his canine charge and they bond immediately.

Now alone in the house and the weather warning on high alert he heads out to stock
up on food supplies. He is shocked when someone called out his name in the market.
It took him a while before he realised he knew the guy way back in College, years ago.

In the previous book in this short series, ‘Don’t Scare Me, My Love’ Jack Norlander, played a big part in the lives of the MC’s in that book. An adorable, Jack of All Trades, for everyone who needed help in Seastone.

Next day, Christmas Eve, Noah is awakened by someone entering the house and panics, when he sees Jack standing there, patting Maggie, he is shocked. Checking out Jack’s explanation, Noah calls the McCormack’s and verifies that Jack is there to do the house cleaning chores each week. With more snow piling down Jack hurries through the house cleaning but when he goes to leave, his truck won’t start and he can’t get a tow from his friend Dany, also a character in Book 1.

And so that’s how Noah and Jack spent Christmas catching up, and Jack eventually rekindling his previous crush on fellow student Noah.

Jack and Noah were very quick to act on their attraction and not hold back on their feelings, and soon the weather outside didn’t seem so chilling.

Flynn Woods here has written another short, cosy, warm, fast growing romance in unusual circumstances, in the snowy wilds of the Pennsylvanian Mountains, a beautiful setting for a steamy Christmas romance.💕 ❤️‍🔥. Just right for reading between the coffee breaks during Christmas preparations.

I received this ARC edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

--There are times when the most mature thing we can do is to listen to the voice of our inner child.--

This fast-paced, 185-page MM romance novella in e-book form is written in a single character POV. It comes across at first as a grumpy sunshine trope. But that’s just a misunderstanding that becomes apart later. It’s actually a missed connection trope, which I don’t see very often.

This light romance written in Noah's POV starts with him coming into the small town of Seastone to house and dog sit for an older couple. He just graduated from Vet School and is using the opportunity to re-center himself before starting a new job that has nothing to do with his college education. While stopping at the gas station upon arrival in town, he runs into happy-go-lucky Jack, who was a part of the ensemble in book 1.

--It [snow] stuck to the glass, showing off its starry beauty before it melted.--

The novella moves at a quick pace and doesn’t linger. It doesn’t take long for a blizzard to strand and seclude our men together in a house that’s not there’s and a dog that’s food motivated & side eyes them constantly. It is a nice short story to hold your attention if you need something to help escape from your own loneliness. It's romantically cheesy and has quirky naughty humor.

--Slowly, more and more [snow] fell to the ground, not like the blizzard they had predicted, but like a poem.--

The character development was very small. There wasn’t much plot to bounce off of because most of the novella take place with just the two of them together. You learned why Jack works the career he chose and why Noah is running from the degree he worked so hard on. They lean on each other to make a sudden life decision that could have a mentally negative outcome.

--That we're alive to make our own decisions is the greatest privilege we humans have.--

Some plot details could have been expanded to give the reader more meat to chew on. Some scenes were left out or mentioned but with no detail, like the phone call Noah had with his parents. However, the 3rd act conflict was written perfectly with just enough tease and not drawn out. The climax of the story was sweet, eye-opening, and hott! Also, Flynn Woods uses chapter titles instead of character names or just numbers, which I appreciate because it gives the reader a small hint of what to expect in a creative way.

The spice was 4/5🌶 Their time together was descriptive and creative. The scenes were a good length where they got you hot n’ bothered, but not so drawn out that you were sweating thru your clothes.

--My insides gave way to him like the snow gave way to the plow trucks.--

There was much of an ensemble, which I was a little sad about. I was looking forward to seeing Jason & Nick again since Jack is Best Friends with them. Jason makes a very quick cameo. We meet Alex briefly, who will get his own book next. We also became acquainted with Dany, the tow truck guy, and Mrs. Candice is one of Jack's clients who has a passion for MM Romance and is my MVP character! She was hilarious!

Now we wait to revisit Seastone again for the Spring Season!

HAPPY READING!!

It's better than the first one in the series, but again, nothing really happens, and there's no plot or character development.

Noah takes a job dog sitting in Seastone, a storm hits, and he finds himself snowed in with Jack (a former college friend), and they do it a lot and fall in love...

I’m a sucker for a Christmas novella. Did I need to know the ins and outs of running a Vet clinic towards the end? Absolutely not. But you know what, it was cute and steamy so what else would I ask for from a gay Christmas novella.

Thank you to Flynn Woods for this book, this story which warmed and then melted my heart, for restoring my faith in love, lovers and happy Christmas' despite blizzards!

I think I might have fallen in love with both Noah and Jack and of course Maggie, she is going to steal your heart and never give it back, she has to be the very best dog, pet, friend that has ever been portrayed in a story!

And to that story we should go. Noah and Jack were College classmates, a few years back and somehow despite the years and the distance and the fact they were never anything more than classmates when Noah pulls into the gas station just outside Seastone and then Jack pulls in behind him, Jack remembers Noah. Truly remembers him. Noah has no recollection of the other man at all. At least not yet. Noah is in town to dog and house sit over Christmas before having to go home and face a desk job he really doesn't want but which might help pay off his student debts. He is also, quite possibly, running from himself and his perceived failure to follow his dreams and become a vet.

Jack lives and works in Seastone. Similarly to Noah he may have arrived there and stayed because he too is hiding or trying to hide from himself and perhaps the world a little too. But he is happy here, he has a few friends, a great job and knows just about everyone in town as a result. His job finds him offering home services which includes cleaning and that is how he and Noah find themselves face-to-face again. A relief for Noah who had decided he did want to initiate contact but had lost the number he needed!

The pair go from awkwardly working around one another as Jack cleans to finding themselves battling a blizzard desperately hoping to get home and dry. Once they do there is nothing stopping them making more of the situation. The power is out, the blizzard is not going anywhere and neither are they. Unless of course into one another's hearts, minds, bodies counts!

This story is stunning. It hints at the couple we met in Book 1. Introduces us to new characters, brings us such deep passion and love set against personal angst and hurt. It is addictive reading, leaves you yearning page after page for the very best outcome for them both and left me with a huge smile, the warmest heart and tingles all the way from head to toe. Flynn Woods is a strong author, clearly heart and soul have gone into this story and I can't wait for more to come from him.

Flynn Woods delivers a beautifully crafted love story set against the backdrop of a charming mountain town. This book doesn’t just tell a story—it immerses you in a world where the air feels crisp, the community is tight-knit, and two lost souls rediscover themselves and each other.

Noah is a veterinarian trying to escape the ghosts of his past failures. He takes on a simple dog-sitting job over the holidays, hoping for some peace and quiet. What he doesn’t expect is to run into Jack, an old college acquaintance who embodies warmth and connection—a stark contrast to Noah’s guarded demeanor. When a sudden blizzard traps them together, their lives take an unexpected turn.

Jack isn’t just the friendly guy everyone in town seems to adore. He’s also the kind of person who makes others feel seen, valued, and, as Noah quickly discovers, deeply cared for. As their time together unfolds, the chemistry between them becomes undeniable, sparking moments that are tender, electric, and unapologetically intimate.

What I loved most about this story is how it balances heartache and hope. The angst is real, but it never feels overdone. Noah struggles with self-doubt—about his career, his choices, and whether he deserves happiness. Jack, on the other hand, is a steadying force, a reminder that sometimes life’s detours lead to exactly where we’re meant to be.

The elderly couple Noah house-sits for adds a heartwarming touch to the narrative. Their advice to follow his heart is simple yet profound, nudging Noah toward a love he truly wanted.
Yes, the explicit scenes are vivid, but they serve the story. They’re raw, emotional, and deepen the connection between Noah and Jack. This isn’t just about lust; it’s about two people learning to trust and love again.

Flynn Woods has crafted a story that’s as much about self-discovery as it is about romance. It’s touching, engaging, and, above all, a reminder that love often finds us when we least expect it.

✎ This is my first time reading a book by this author and we are in the Christmas season so why not a good feel Christmas story to count down the days to Christmas.

✎ 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 is going through something in his life and he needed a break,so when he saw dog/house sitter job online for a couple going on a vacation he applied for it,because he needed sometime away from his family and town.So this job was kind of vacation and a way for him to relax and think about his future plans. When he got to the town for the job he applied for he met 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔 the kind, sweet and always ready to help home service expect.During their conversation 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔 told 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 that he remembers him from college, later on 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 remembered him too and I can’t believe how hot 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔 has become. One led to two and they are stuck in a house alone with a dog and no electricity. But don’t worry because they find ways to warm themselves from all that snow and cold.🤭

✎ 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 and 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔 were such cute and adorable couple.I love how 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔 blushes a lot and how 𝙽𝚘𝚊𝚑 finds it so endearing and cute.I love how their relationship developed from college “friends” who met each other again by chance to two people who shared their fears and insecurities with each other. They became each other’s support and strength.

✎ The book is such a great feel good Christmas story, with characters you can’t help but love and funny moments you just can’t help but laugh out loud at.Side characters you hope to read about and wished they have their own book.It just a beautiful story about life given you a second chance to go after the things you weren’t brave enough to go for in the past.

How do I tell him I don’t want this to end?

Back in Seastone, a small town in the Appalachian Mountains.

Noah Atchley, 27, studied veterinary science…but is not pursuing it as a career.

Jack Norlander, similar age, is a self-described “Home Services Expert.” Tight beard, deep brown eyes, and big ears that kinda protrude. 😊

The premise is a missed connection. The guys knew each other back in college, five years ago.

A dangerous blizzard helps the men make up for lost time.

Mrs. Candice and her love of gay romance novels. 💙 🙌🏻

Jack still has Noah’s number from college. 🥰

Noah’s crippling anxiety pairs well with Jack’s adorable shyness.

Organic growth of feelings. From dancing together to sharing their respective damage, excellent emotional work. Not too much, and not too little. The Goldilocks sweet spot.

Reading the gay romance novel together. 🥰 🔥

Beautiful intimacy in their lovemaking. Anatomy, circumcision status, and verbiage are strong. Appropriate bareback. The descriptive detail is not as vivid here. But Flynn writes gay men so well and so authentically that it is acceptable.

The appeal of small town life. Mr. McCormac’s poignant advice.

New Year, and New Beginnings.

Awesome L-words.

It’s great to have another book by this author with two out, gay men. The lack of sexuality games…it’s a breath of fresh air.

Solid wrap-up to a lovely, heartwarming, emotional story.

Still, I couldn’t care less. It felt more like home than anywhere else I had lived before. The reason for that was no secret. Wherever Jack was, it felt like home to me.

story of Noah and Jack

This is a reconnected friends to more romance, featuring Noah and Jack, and is book two in the Seastone Seasons series.

Noah is needing a break from his life, after burning out during his veterinary residency. He is a little lost and a lot stressed out and just wants to escape. He signs up to dog sit for a couple in Seastone over the Christmas/New Year break. What he doesn’t expect is to run into an old uni friend, Jack. Jack is a Home Services Expert and looks after the home Noah is a dog sitting in and as Mother Nature brings the biggest snow storm Seastone has seen in a while, they get snowed in. WOO HOO! Thanks Flynn.

This book is a low angst, fast paced holiday romance and is from a single POV. The majority of the book covers being snowed in by the blizzard, and I was here for it. Nothing to do but be with each other in front of a cozy fire, hello! Lots of sweet and spicy times between Noah and Jack and I was super happy with the HEA.

If you have r read book one, make time for it because it is awesome too. And we see a cameo from those characters in this book.

Things to expect in this book are:
2nd book in series
MM Christmas romance
Single POV
Reconnected friends to more
Dog sitter x Housekeeper
Snowed in
Holiday fling
Forced proximity
Re-enacting book scene
Sweet & Spicy times
Catching feelings
HEA

‘Home Between Homes’ is book 2 in the Seastones Seasons series and follows on from ‘Don’t Scare Me, My Love’ but is very stand alone with a few characters from book 1 only making a fleeting appearance. Other than Jack that is as this is his story and that of Noah’s. Jack and Noah met at college years ago in a very innocent way but that’s not the way the story is going to go here. They both hoped to become vets until things went sideways for them. This is a love story filled with a kind of desperate passion during a blizzard. Jack is a jack of all trades and Noah has taken a nine day stint as a dog sitter.

The story starts off quite low key but steadily builds in heat as the two guys begin to trust each other and begin to open up. There are some distressing memories to cope with for them and the end date of the dog sitting job hangs heavy over them both. There are decisions to make and a commitment to each other to be decided on before a happy ever after can be expected. This is all set in Seastone, a dying town where most people are over fifty and many properties lie empty but it is filled with vibrant eccentricity that draws you in. The well drawn characters make the whole thing worth reading. A quiet joy of a read.

This book somehow kept dropping on my tbr list and I am sorry to say I just yesterday picked it up again.

3,75/4-
This spicy MM romance missed connection forced proximity story is told from Noah his perspective. It is fairly fast paced and does not have a lot of character development. It does not bother me that much since we do get thr basics of both men.
He and Jack meet at random in the small town where he is dogsitting after quitting his job as vet in a burnout type.
After those 9 days he will return to his aprents home to start a desk job.
Noah meets Jack again an unexpected way. They start a tentative friendship that never fully came to fruition at uni.
After Jack his car do3s not work they go to visit on of Jack his clients before a winterstorm comes in. After a not so succesful drive home from said client.
Try are snowed in together with Maggie the dog. The chemistry between Noah and Jack reaches very spicy levels. They have to decide if they can built further on what they found or if they go there own way.

This is a new author to me and I was impressed. The story line seems simple. A Veterinarian who loved his job but burnt out had disappointed his parents and they had arranged a desk job for him to start in the new year so he felt like he needed time away and took a Christmas job as a dog sitter in a small town. He meets a former student he studied with while in school and several things bring them together including a blizzard.

When the blizzaed clears almost a week after they got stuck together, they parted, both of them very down. The man whose dog the Vet had been sitting drew to his attention the fact that people who mean something to you are more important than the job and points out the job available in the town's Veterinary clinic and so he decides to look into it before leaving town and draws his love into the story.

While I am not a dan of reading sexual scenes over and over, I loved the reltionship between the two former friends and their caring for others, including animals. That came across as beautiful, rare, but real.

I very much enjoy this author's work and have read pretty much everything, so I was excited to see this was coming out, especially after the Halloween novella in this series :)

This is a low angst, sweet holiday novella with Jack (the handyman/friend we met in the previous novella) and Noah, who is disenchanted with his career path/life and comes to town to house and pet sit. But... the weather outside is frightful and the two end up snowed in! Love the forced proximity :) They get to know reconnect and catch up over soup (melting here) - since they used to know each other back in their college days - and get cozy in front of the fire place. Sweet and sexy times happen and it all ends wonderfully. Another wonderful holiday read and excellent story from this author!

I have to say I am really enjoying Seastone and it's residents and I was very much looking forward to Jack's story and I think Flynn Woods delivers! Jack is such a sweet, good guy who really deserves to find happiness and Noah is the perfect match for him!

This is a quick and easy read without much drama, just two people with a chance to reconnect and find real love. And just maybe all it takes a chance dog-sitting job in a small town and a huge blizzard because that's what we get, but it's a sweet journey and I loved it. I thought this was a fun read that made me smile and I really liked the way their story came together. Another great visit to Seastone and I'm already looking forward to Alex's story as well!

This book was such a cozy delight! Noah and Jack’s snowy reunion in Seastone had all the elements I love: second chances, forced proximity, and a touch of holiday magic. Their chemistry is sweet and spicy, and the fluffy old dog was an adorable bonus. Flynn Woods captures the charm of small-town life while diving into the emotional depths of Noah and Jack’s shared past. It’s the perfect winter romance—heartwarming, captivating, and full of love. A must-read for anyone who enjoys snowed-in stories with a guaranteed HEA!.

Wow, who knew a snow storm while house sitting could lead to such steamy scenes. From feeling like your life is out of control to having to go with the flow for a week and discovering that's not such a bad thing when you're with the right person.

Great characters who both have such heartfelt emotions you want them to find their happiness together. I loved every moment of this small town story that makes you yearn for a slower paced life.

🌶️🌶️

I absolutely love a good insta-love trope and Flynn Woods did not disappoint!

Jack is such a sweetheart - everything we learn about him is so endearing. While we don’t get his point of view, I loved getting to know him through Noah’s perspective.

Noah is also a wonderful person - it’s easy to connect with him and his background. There is a nuance about him that is incredibly relatable; he’s so easy to love.

If you’re looking for a sweet, but still spicy, story of love and understanding this book is a perfect choice ❤️

I love Jack! He was PERFECT all the way through this book except for like 2 pages. They were very sweet together and I got my "soulmates" fix with them. Jack and Noah had a beautiful reconnection after college in the tiniest mountain town in the middle of nowhere. How could it be anything but fate? Yes, I'm a sap sometimes...No, I don't care. This was exactly what I wanted from this book. Also, I LOVE that Jason and Nick made an appearance.

This was a cute wintery MM romance. The forced proximity was fun. I did feel like the relationship in this book was a bit surface level and much more lustful and physical than emotional though. Overall, this was a fun, short read for the winter season.

Excellent read! Great Holiday gay love story that kept me engaged until the very end. Great characters and scenes. There were spicy scenes without getting too explicit or raunchy which I appreciate.
Can’t wait to read the other books of the series!
