The Mystery of Malaysian Airlines 370

Rate this book
Malaysia Airlines flight 370 departed from Kuala Lumpur airport shortly after midnight, full of passengers flying to Beijing. Half an hour later, the greatest mystery in aviation history had begun.

Though most of us will board an aircraft at some point in our lives, we know little about how they work and the procedures surrounding their operation. It is that mystery that makes the loss of MH370 so terrifying. Follow along step-by-step as Wrigley recreates the flight and its disappearance. Review the many varied theories as to how it could have happened — up to and including alien abduction. The Mystery of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 also introduces a variety of related crashes and incidents, allowing readers to draw their own conclusions.

If you have any interest in the disappearance of MH370, this is probably the only book that I'd recommend reading. Sylvia Wrigley has an exceptional knowledge of many of the areas that surround aviation, including the workings of a Boeing 777. The conspiracy theories are thrown to one side in order to focus on the one thing that matters: The facts. The covers many possibilities of why the plane disappeared, and how. Well worth reading and highly recommended.

I'm so glad this is the book I chose to read about flight MH370. It's well thought out and expertly written. I love that it goes through all the possibilities, even the crazy conspiracy theories, using logic and expertise. As I knew there was no resolution to the flight 370 story, I was afraid reading this book would be a waste of time, but it was so full of interesting facts and thorough stories about other plane crashes that it kept it deeply interesting.

You'd think that you've heard about every plane crash in your lifetime, but there are so many in this book that I never heard of, even though I'm old enough to have heard of all of them. The author does an excellent job of dispelling myths and presenting everything in a logical manner. It's great to get info like this from someone who knows what they're talking about.

An insightful reading. I'm taking my time finishing this book as I'm a bit slow understanding the aviation jargon. The author really did her best making sure readers like us understand the terms. That's one the best parts of this book besides a lot of comparative cases, references and research of past aviation catastrophic events and how other countries handled it. Thanks to google playbook, i found this book for free. What a treat!

Disappointing

This author is clearly not open to complicated scenarios and finds the simplistic explanations given by "authorities" as sufficient to conclude that there is nothing more incidius going on. Inconvenient theories are quickly dismissed as conspiracies without any research into them. Beware of anyone who does not question the official versions of such controversial and highly suspicious events as 9/11 and TWA800.

Food for thought

It makes a nice change to have an informed person look at the factsand report them, and not deliver the normal sensatioalist bs that we are fed.
It is an absolute disgrace the Malaysian Airlines heads would not admit the truth, and felt the need to hide information that may have helped with the search. RIP FLIGHT 370.

Full of detail

An excellent detailed analysis of the mysterious loss of MH370. While not able to pinpoint a solution to the loss the author explores the plausible and not so plausible possibilities of why an aircraft could simply disappear without a trace.

Flight 370

This book helped understand what did or didn't happen on this flight. Maybe one day we'll find out. This book is written in a way that the layperson can understand. This was a great read.

Nonfiction book covering all the theories of what might have happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. I'd give this 3.5 stars. I think I'd give it 4 if the writing and editing were better, but there were many, many punctuation errors and some grammar errors. Also, it was very dry. However, it seems to me that the author knows what she is talking about, and she did a good job laying out all the possibilities of what might have happened, with good authoritative references for the facts behind the theories. I've been puzzled about this mystery, and I felt that I learned a lot to fill in the gaps in my own knowledge about the mystery.

This is a straightforward account of the flight, before, during, and after. It compares a few theories with similar incidents, then gives pro or con, according to known facts, of the logistics of that particular occurrence. It is interesting and a few revisions have been made in attempt for relevancy with the case. As of 2016, I believe, revisions were stopped. This does not propose outlandish conspiracy theory scenarios. It does provide information of the flight and the mistakes the Malaysian government made in dealing with the disaster.

A Still Unsolved Mystery Explained

Fine investigation of the disappearance of MAF370. The author who is herself an aviator and author of books on aviation and frequent consultant on documentaries about the subject, has done a great job of explaining every imaginable thing that could have went wrong in a way that an aviation novice like myself could understand, and, I believe would also be interesting to expert aviators. I pray for all of the families of the victims and hope that someday they find the peace and closure they need.

Great informational book despite some outdated parts.

Great book detailing the event and the many theories that try to explain it, even the more ridiculous ones. The first half read at times like a thesis paper rather than a book which became a bit stale but the second half seemed to have more narrative which held my interest to the end.

An aggregation of all the facts as well as the multiple theories about one of the greatest aviation mysteries of our times.
However since it was written in 2014 and updated in 2015, it misses out on recent updates.
The mystery still continues.

Reasonable analysis

Me. Wrigley does an excellent job in examining the frustrating case of this missing aircraft. She is highly competent in the aviation field and looks at all possibilities in a reasonable manner. The writing is very good, and she makes a difficult subject understandable to everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed this book in one sitting.
