Oh my goodness, Daddy December by Linzvonc, where do I even begin? First, a huge thank you to Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for the ALC. Because who wouldn't want to read a Christmas romance? But... um... this? Definitely not it. If I wasn’t listening to the audio, I would’ve DNFed this so fast, I would’ve left a trail of Christmas cookies behind me. The audio? Sure, solid 3.5 stars. The story? Maybe 1.5 on a good day. 😬

Okay, Noelle had her reason for hiding her kid for TEN YEARS—she didn’t want to get in the way of Nicholas’s career. But let’s be real here: TEN YEARS, Noelle? TEN YEARS? I get that you didn’t want to mess with his career, but you couldn't have handled that like a responsible adult and shared the truth a little sooner? Hiding the kid that long felt less like a noble decision and more like an extreme case of "oops, I messed up big time." And Nicholas’s sister, Noelle’s best friend, who suspected the truth for a decade and didn’t say anything? Like, seriously? A whole decade? Are we pretending that doesn’t make this even worse?

And Nicholas—oh Nicholas. He’s so mad, but at the same time, can’t stop thinking about jumping back into bed with Noelle. Because that makes perfect sense, right? One minute, he’s all "I’m angry" and the next, it’s "I can’t resist you." Like, buddy, pick a side. 🤦‍♀️

I was hoping for a sweet, cozy second-chance romance, but this? It was like watching a cringe-fest unfold in real-time. These characters were acting like 🙄 And the way they treated each other? Don’t even get me started. Noelle? She’s a disaster. Nicholas? A wannabe alpha male with zero self-awareness. The writing? It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

And the "romantic" moments? Ugh, one minute they’re practically ripping each other’s throats out, and the next they’re making out in a parking lot like it’s a high school make-out session. Yeah, not buying it. 😬

If you’re into something light and easy, sure, this might work for you. But for me? This was a major nope. I’m definitely not recommending this to anyone. ✌️

- best friend's brother
- single mom
- secret baby
- second chance romance

The audio for Daddy December was honestly what made me enjoy this as much as I did. I'm a sucker for second chance romances, especially when there's a secret baby involved (it's a guilty pleasure of mine), and really enjoyed how quick this listen was!

I really wanted to love this book. It seems like just the thing I’d love. Sadly this book didn’t even scratch the surface of what I wanted. I feel as though the author left out so much. Almost like this was an outline for the book and all the details were missing.

Nick talks like all he cares about is getting to know his daughter, but every other second he’s thinking about getting in bed with Noelle.

I hated how everyone made Noelle feel for leaving. She was barely 21 and pregnant. She did what she thought was best at the time. Her best friend treats her pretty crappy after learning she wasn’t told about the baby. And everyone acts as though they are entitled to Holly. Ugh. This book bothered and annoyed me on so many levels.

All I can say is, if I got pregnant by this dude I would take my child and run away for 10 years too.

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes when it comes to books, as it should be.

THAT BEING SAID

I really have to question all these 5 star reviews....

Let me break this down for you because this was just the most ridiculous and boring book....

First, the character names? Goodness... I know its a Christmas themed book so I expected a certain level of 'cheese'... but really? Dad Nicholas Christian, Mom Noelle, Daughter Holly.... And its not even a self aware joke. The fact that those are their names and they live in a very 'Christmas Forward' small town is not mentioned.

Second, the storyline is so boring and over used... Secret baby, 10 years later, small town romance, best friends brother, there was nothing original about this book. This was like a hallmark movie, but the Wish/Temu version. You guys heard of that atrocious app ReelShort? This was like that.

Third, let's do a quick rundown of this storyline. Because nothing really makes sense. Noelle (21) is in love with her best friends older brother. Nicholas (freaking 29) is said older brother and has been messing around with Noelle in secret. Now good ole Nick is down on his luck. Going from dead end job to dead end job. He applies to Oxford because he has BIG BUSINESS DREAMS (that we don't even learn about... I think he's some kind of lawyer?). One day, Noelle goes over to Nick's parents house (yeah he still lives with mom, dad, little sister) to see him and instead finds an acceptance letter from Oxford.

*LE GASP*

She decides he needs to chase his dreams, so she breaks up with him. He then proceeds to leave without even saying goodbye. Not just to her, but to his whole damn family! Fast forward a month or so and, dun dun dun, Noelle finds out she's got a bun in the oven and said bun's daddy has taken off overseas to chase his dream and become BIG BUSINESS MAN.

Okay, she's gotta be a single mom then. *shrug*. She also takes off, doesn't tell her best friend or anything. Moves away. Goes to live with her aunt. Has the baby. Her parents get into a car accident on the way to see her in the hospital and they die. Then like 8 years later, her aunt dies. Its all (supposed to be) very sad.

She decides she wants to move back to live in her hometown and wants to give her daughter (Holly) the childhood she had. She moves back and gets back in touch with her bestie but doesn't tell her that Holly is her niece. HOWEVER, the best friend (cannot even remember her name even though I JUST read the book) knows that her brother is Holly's dad. Because blue eyes. Yeah, she figures it out because everyone in her family has blue eyes. *insert intense eye roll*

A year goes by, and Christmas rolls around and Nick decides he's ready to come home for the holidays. Shocker, he runs into Noelle. It's awkward, naturally. Later that night, bestie let's it slip to Nick that he has a 10 year old daughter. And he is hurt (understandable) and pissed he wasn't told (less understandable since ya know, he left without saying a damn thing or even giving them a way to contact him).

And listen, I'm sure you can guess how the rest of the book goes after this point. I don't need to go on longer about the story itself because its all very predictable.

I will say the only part that wasn't predictable was how completely UNREASONABLE Nick was towards Noelle. Like he doesn't show any compassion to her about why she made the choices she made and kept the news about his kid from him. Does he have a right to be upset? Absolutely. That's his kid. But to literally say "you were just selfish" "she made her choices and now she has to deal with the consequences".... yeah no.

NOT TO MENTION

He tells her "playfully" *another eye roll* to shut up, multiple times, when she repeatedly says she's sorry to him. Yeah, she keeps apologizing to him and not once does he say "I forgive you" or anything like that. In fact, he basically gaslights her the entire time until she's basically telling herself that she's a terrible mother.

Oh also, when Noelle "goes public" with the truth to bestie and her parents, bestie gets so pissed at her and stops talking to her. Saying "I can't believe you kept this from me!" yet she KNEW the kid was her niece. She admitted that. So I don't understand the hostility?

So, at the end, he goes to Noelle's place of employment and basically tells her that she isn't working there anymore because he doesn't like other men looking at her. To meet him in his truck in 5 minutes or he's coming back in. So she makes up an excuse to leave work and then they do the 👹DEVILS TANGO👹 in the parking lot!!! And he tells her, after she said she needed to go to the pharmacy for a Plan B because she's not on any contraceptive, that he hopes she gets pregnant again!

Ta-da they live HEA. *exasperated sigh*

Oh, there was also some slight Other Woman drama, but it didn't even last half a dang chapter before it was resolved so its not even worth mentioning.

Did I mention this whole book takes place over like 4 FREAKING DAYS.

Thank fuck that's over with.

This is a sweet and steamy Christmas novella filled with festive cheer, second chances and reconnecting.
Noelle is busy preparing for her daughter's 10th birthday party, when a face she never expected to see again walks back into her life shattering everything around her.
Nick left for England, made a name for himself and built his career, his only regret was leaving Noelle behind, but that was 10 years ago. Now back in town for Christmas he didn't expect the frosty welcome from his sister, or to bump into a hostile Noelle either, even worse is the discovery of Noelle's daughter who has the same distinctive eyes as him.
This is packed with drama, misunderstandings, tension, vulnerability and emotion as the two reconnect and try to come to terms with the loss of the last decade and Nick's adjustment to being a dad.
There was great chemistry between Noelle and Nick, and I enjoyed the snippets of jealousy, doubt and regrets that came from them both.
Add in some steamy encounters, ex drama, meddling friends, an adorable and accepting daughter, and you have a fun festive romance.

❄️ "The only prince I need is the one carrying twenty-four Christmas cupcakes"

❄️ "My instincts scream to protect her, not just because she's the mother of my child, but because I can see the pieces of her that are missing"

❄️ "She's a shadow of the girl I once knew, and it breaks my fucking heart"

❄️ "The scratch of his beard against my skin sends a jolt of electricity through me. I want him. All of him"

❄️ "I'm fucking crazy for you. Seeing you tonight confirmed it for me, if any man touched you, if have buried them under the lake"

❄️ "You deserve happiness. I can't believe I ever let you go"

❄️ "I plan to reacquaint myself with every inch of Noelle's body in every room"

Thank you NetGalley and author Linzvonc for giving me a audiobook copy in exchange of an honest review!
This audiobook was a dual pov narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose. I really enjoy their work on this book, definitely the highlight of the entire experience. This was a very quick read, good if you want an easy and short holiday novella for this time of the year, however, I do have some problems with the overall story which I detail (WITH SPOILERS) bellow:

This book was just not good in my opinion, for a variety of reasons. For starters, it felt like there was nothing new added to an already overuse storyline, best friend’s brother, age gap, secret baby, 10 years later he comes back, etc. I don’t have much to said about Noelle character, other than there were a few thing that didn’t fell right for me, like how easily she gave control to the guy and how little apprehensive she was about the MMC’s decision of staying and demanding to meet their daughter, as if it didn’t affect her daughter’s life. Yet, my biggest problem was the guy. This man comes back 10 years later and boss her around in a passive aggressive way, demands to have a baby after they were together for the first time in years, ignoring the fact that the woman wanted to get the pill and then “convinces” her (more like forces her) that they need a bigger family ignoring yet again the fears of the MFC regarding childbirth. Moreover, this all happens in like 4 days, and they are back in love like nothing has happened in the end, with no resolution to the problems, in fact not even touching them at all. There were so many plot holes in the story, and sadly, it felt like an undeveloped story. But, as I said before, if you want a mindless read, then maybe this could work for you.

Quick Summary: A secret baby, second chance novella

My Review: Daddy December by Linzvonc is a "Spicy Christmas Second Chance Romance."

About the Book: "Ten years ago, Noelle made the hardest decision of her life—she left Winterburg, pregnant with her best friend’s brother’s baby."

In My Own Words: A ten-year disconnect, a secret pregnancy, a family separated due to poor choices and a lack of communication, attitudes everywhere, a pushy ex, a naughty club, immature characters, and a HEA - that is what this book is about in a nutshell.

About the Narration: This book was narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose. Great job!

My Final Say: Umm...what was that?! Were they adults or high schoolers? This was a yea but no for me. The more I continued listening to the audiobook, the lower the rating fell. I cannot even.

Nick and Noelle's story started out so strong, then it just piled on everything you can think of. It made me mad. (How is that even possible?) Every character acted younger than their age. It was ridiculous. And some of the sexy times situations were straight up NOs. (Like, really!)

Normally, I am not negative with reviews. This was just ok. It was not the worst thing I have ever come across, but my goodness. The story has potential, but it definitely needs work. Perhaps, it should be longer...or something. It gets a thumbs down from this reader/listener.

Other: A good story is a good story, and a not so good story... Spice in a book does not guarantee solid ratings.

ALC AUDIOBOOK REVIEW

Daddy December
By: @linzvonc

Narrated By: Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose

After 10 years, Nicholas Christian Is back In the small town he grew up in, and although his family might be excited to see him, one person in town isn’t. The moment Noelle sees Nicholas come through the doors, 10 years flash back in the blink of an eye and her heart sinks, but this time it’s not only her heart she needs to protect, her sweet daughter Holly Is her only priority these days.
Daddy December is a sweet short novella starting off with all the angst and wonder. I went into this completely blind and was hooked, with Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose narrating i couldn’t help but hang on every word. This story is full of all the drama that Noelle has held onto for 10 years, all the family nosiness and once the spice hits everything heats up.
If you love a small town Christmas novella with a second chance at love and the love of a family, listen to this today.

Thank You @bluenoseaudio for the opportunity to listen and review.

This was a super sweet short Christmas novella and I loved it.
I was sent an alc copy of the audiobook by Blue Nose Audio for my honest review.
The book itself is available on kindle unlimited and paperback I believe.

This was a dual style audiobook with Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose. They both did an incredible job. I have been a fan of Maxine Mitchell for a while and she did not disappoint as the fmc Noelle, and her kid voice was awesome!
This was the first time I have heard Scott Rose but I loved his deep voice and the emotion he put into the mmc. Together they did great with each character and it was easy to distinguish who is who.
I was able to feel the emotions through their voices which I appreciated because parts of this story are very emotional.

Some of the tropes that are included:
🎄secret pregnancy
❄️small town romance
🎄found family
❄️holiday romance

Noelle moved back to her small town with her daughter and doesn’t expect a blast from the past in the form of a tall drink of water named Nicholas to come back after he moved to London years ago. He gets a huge bombshell of a secret thrown at him (if you’ve read the story you know what I mean😆) suddenly the both of them have to work together to live harmoniously in Winterburg just as Christmas is approaching. (I also appreciated that both characters are in their 30’s)

I also love the cheesiness of a fun holiday novella. The author Linzvonc named her main characters Noelle, Holly, and Nicholas which really added to the Christmas fun.
I also loved the minor character Richard who is Noelle’s best friend. He is the glue that everyone needs in their life.

I give the story a 4-4.5⭐️ just because I wish it were a little longer and had a little more history explained between the characters but I understand that since it is a novella that it is supposed to be short.

At the end of the audiobook there was a short holiday Q and A with the narrators and that was a pleasant surprise. It’s great to get to know more about who brings characters to life. I hope Blue Nose Audio continues to do things like that for future audiobooks.

If this sounds interesting You can pre order the audiobook December 13, 2024 and it will be available early in the Blue Nose Audio app on December 18th and available to the public January 2, 2025.

Audiobook Review:
Daddy December: A Spicy Christmas Second Chance Romance (Christmas Romance Collection)

Characters:
Noelle Granger and Nicholas Christian

Performed by : Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose
They both did a fantastic job !
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.5 🔥🔥🔥

Storyline : A Cute incredible heartwarming second Chance Romantic story.
One that draws several emotions for me …. No matter the spin that was put on keeping a child a secret it’s still hard to comprehend.
Noelle made the decision ten years ago to not tell Nicholas about their child..
and Nicholas after returning home found out in just one look that he has a daughter… Holly a daughters life he was not made a part of through no fault of his own, a decision taken from him for ten years!

All on all it’s Christmas, Noelle and Nicholas have a lot to figure out as they navigate through the missed opportunity, regrets, lost moments and perhaps A Second Chance to pick up where they left off !
Hope flair’s forgiveness as Nicholas concentrates on the here and now and his love that never ends for this woman.

Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose gave a heartfelt performance of this quick pace novella that was wonderfully written by Author new to me .. this was one quick audio that was worth listening!

You will love this book 📚

If you read/listen to this, suspend yourself in a general sense of belief, because some of this is so outlandish but the outlandish is so much fun. The cover art featured on NetGalley is this beautiful oil-esque scene with two lovers gently embracing with a pastoral, snowy winter backdrop. Stunning. I needed a quick holiday audio-novella to listen to while wrapping gifts. Based on the “listen now” and the cover, I was thinking this would be the equivalent of a cutie Hallmark Christmas movie.

It was but make it Hallmark movie meets a touch of Maury Povich meets a romcom? This had it all and I loved it. I was shook. An estranged, hot ex. Second chance romance. The one that got away. A secret TEN YEAR OLD love child. Returning to the hometown for the holidays. A strip club?! Angst, yearning, car sex, and matching Christmas family pjs? This had me shrieking. Shocked. Giggling. Invested. There were definitely moments of, “Wait, wut.” but again, just suspend in belief and don’t dissect. This isn’t a literary deep dive. This was soapy, and little campy, and horny. Enjoy the ride.

Is it perfect? No.
Is it fun as hell? Absolutely.

Also, the audiobook cover is 193744792 times better than the GoodReads featured cover (maybe that’s the trad book cover? Idk.) Although, I would have been more prepared for the book contents if I saw horny Santa first 🤷🏻‍♀️. I think the element of surprise was better.

Also, the audio production and the dual narration was really well done.

Thank you Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for the ALC. I really wanted to love this book and the premise of this book was interesting even though I have read many book similar to this. The Hallmark vibes in this book were great and it felt like a great holiday read. That being said there were so many issues and I just couldn’t get past them. First of all the way the book started it just randomly picked up that I felt like I started listening to the book from the middle. So Noelle not telling Nick about being pregnant made sense to me since she didn’t want to keep him from his dream. The thing that I couldn’t understand was why she originally broke up with him as there is a such thing as a long distance relationship. Also not telling him originally I could live with but 10 years and especially after she move back to town made no sense to me. In addition to this the way Nick acted just made no sense. It was like one second Nick was angry at Noelle for keep such a big secret from him and the next they are jumping into bed together and are one big happy family. With all that being said while I love second chance romance I do not believe this one was executed properly.

This is my first book by Linzvonc, and it was a great introduction to her writing and fictional worlds! Daddy December was a quick holiday novella with some fun characters that have me ready to read more of her books, and it was perfect for the holiday season.

I love a good secret pregnancy/child and a good second chance romance, and Daddy December had both. Noelle and Nick head up a strong, well-thought-out cast of characters that built a story I was invested in from the first chapter. Holly, Noelle's daughter, was so cute and fun to read about, and I was excited for her to learn more about her father. Having Nick back in town made Noelle face the music and explain the things that had happened between them so many years ago, resulting in the adorable Holly. I enjoyed how Nick was able to jump into his father role pretty quickly with Holly and he and Noelle were able to get to know each other again. Linzvonc did a fantastic job writing characters that I loved getting to know but I do have to say that I wished that there had been just a little more to the story. The story had a great outline, but some parts felt rushed, and it could have benefited from more fleshing out. I enjoyed the story, but I was left wanting more out of the characters and their connections.

I listened to the audiobook at 1.5x speed and absolutely loved it. The narrators - Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose, were fantastic. Their intonation, different character voices, and ability to draw emotion from me made for a great audiobook experience. I will definitely be looking for more from these narrators!

Overall, Daddy December would be a perfect read for someone looking for a quick, holiday romance with all the feels and a great audiobook. I wanted to rate it higher, but felt that the lack of depth to the characters made it feel a little light and rushed. I rate Daddy December 3.5 stars.

This is a review of the audiobook.

This was a short read but a great one! I love how the author was able to capture so much and so many emotions in such a short amount of time. And the character development in this amount of time was also great.

I would definitely love this story as a full length book that shows what happened between Noelle and Nicholas before and leading up to this point and even their separate lives during their time apart.

The narrators for this one were also great. Scott and Maxine are new narrators for me but I will definitely be listening to more of their books!

Thank you to @NetGalley and @BlueNosePublishing for the ARC. Daddy December was a sweet second chance romance. Nick and Noel have not seen each other for ten years but when they see each other they know the spark is still there. This is a short novella, about 3 hours, and set during Christmas. I enjoyed this easy read.

Wow. Second chance romance with a secret child 10 years old? Yes please!

I did find the romance and spice a little rushed but otherwise this book was a total win.

This was a super fun, cute and easy listen.

Noelle and Nicholas are former secret lovers who haven’t seen each other in 10 years. Nicholas gets the surprise of a lifetime when he comes face to face with his 10 year old daughter.

Though I did enjoy this book because it’s filled with so many hilarious and loving characters I found myself at times struggling to connect with Noelle’s character. I just didn’t get her reasoning and I am someone who LOVES surprise/secret pregnancy but her reasons fell flat for me. I will say though that Nicholas was amazing in his understanding and forgiveness. You could tell he still held so much love for her and I’m happy that in the end it all worked out.

The audio narrators were great. I loved how distinctive each character was and I didn’t find myself cringing at any of the voices.

When Nick arrives home after living abroad for a decade, he finds out the girl he left behind had a baby and it’s his. After all these years, the first time he see’s Noelle again, it’s like seeing her for the very first time again. Now that he’s back, just in time for Christmas, he knows he’s ready for the family he’s always wanted with Noelle, but is she ready to deal with the decision she made all those years ago! Maybe with some Christmas Magic’s these two can have the future they’ve always dreamed of.

Loved the narrators, I’ve never listened to Scott Rose before and he is phenomenal! My sweet Maxine, she can never do wrong and she has one of the best male voices done by a female narrator!

The story was cute, if not a bit frustrating… mainly when Carrie is just like going off about Noelle at her parents and just being like a real mean girl, yeah okay, we get it, Noelle made a huge mistake and she is having to deal with it. But this girl is supposed to be your best friend and you are just smashing her to hits in front of your family. Then when Elise comes in the picture, suddenly your tune has change and you’re all about Team Noelle now!!! Give me a break girl! You’re a troll and I’m not over it! Also, Nicks mom was being all chummy with this Elsie bitch and then once Nick is like kicking her out she tells her to leave too, but while Noelle was at the house she invited Elsie in… with pretty much open arms getting her a drink and chatting her up…. Like WTF!!! Nicks Fam is SUS and I don’t know if I’m here for them! lol Nick is the only one acting normal out here!

Nick was precious! I loved him from the beginning. He handle all this news so well! He never really got mad at Noelle and I think it’s because he still had major feelings for her and just couldn’t stay mad at her. Loved Richard too, what an angel pie he was! I was cracking up with the interrogation he was giving Nick.

Noelle, precious sweet girl! I mean when you’re barley 21 years old and find out the love of your life just got into Oxford, a school he has been dreaming about his whole life and he hasn’t said he loves you yet…. And you just found out you’re pregnant on top of that…. Yeah I would have ran for the hills and never looked back. She’s scared and she doesn’t know if he loves her back and she can’t tell him, she wants him to peruse his dreams! I understand her decision… but also, I probably would have reached out after a while and told him. I don’t think she would have ever told him if he didn’t come back into her life!

Loved the ending and the bonus chapter! Lots of ooey gooey sexiness at the end and I’m always here for it! Thanks BN for the ALC!

4.25 ✨

I received an ALC from Blue Nose Audio in exchange for my honest review of Linzvonc's novel Daddy December, which features narrations by Maxine Mitchell and Scott Rose.

This was my first novel from Linzvonc but I have been in my Christmas novellas this year - so it was a great time for me to be introduced to a new author :) 164 pages and approx 3.5 hours of audio.

This is a perfect little Christmas read for fans of authors like Corrine Michaels, AL Jackson, Devney Perry, and all those queens who write fantastic second-chance, single moms with small-town vibe romances.

I find with novellas - there is a chance that you found the story too rushed which leaves me uninterested or that you loved the story so much, that you wish this was a full novel and feel a bit disappointed with the result - but for this, I felt like this was the perfect length. There weren't a lot of dragged out scenes, you got the Christmas vibes and a cute love story.

I did find that the situation where someone needed to forgive the other (don't want to spoil anything) felt unbelievable and that I felt other people reacted more realistically than the MCs in the situation. I think there needed to be some more of a reaction from the character. I don't think it was rushed, but I don't think the reaction worked for me.

But the story was cute and it gave the Christmas vibes and there were a lot of fun characters in it!

Narration:
Maxine is one of my favourite narrators. She does an excellent job when switching voices, and setting tones/emotions and I can listen to her narrations back to back. I tend to listen to my audiobooks fast and with some narrators, it just can't work. But I can listen to Maxine at 1.0 and 2.0 and she sounds clear and great at either speed.

I am not as familiar with Scott's narrations. I first heard him in Claire Kingsley's Obsession Falls novel as a supporting role and he was awesome. I remember his character very clearly and he gave you the vibes that he needed for that role. This is my first time listening to him as the MMC and I will be definitely doing a deep dive into his catalogue and see what else he has done. He did a really good job of capturing the character. Nicolas is a likeable character and you get that with Scott's narration. I have a hard time with some male narrators and the way they can amplify their emotions (sobbing, yelling or when doing their spicy voice) but I never had any cringe with him. I liked him a lot.

Overall, it was a great audiobook and story. A quick listen in one sitting with a great cast of characters. This is book one of the series - there is also Miss Christmas which I will be checking out along with more of Linzvonc's novels. Thanks again to BNA for the ALC :D

Daddy December is a heartwarming novella that beautifully explores the impact of our choices and the possibility of second chances. Noelle, a young woman who made a difficult decision for what she believed was the best at the time, crosses paths with Nick, her best friend’s brother and the unsuspecting father of her child, a decade later. The story poses a compelling question: Can they overcome the mistakes of their past to create the connection and family they’ve always craved?

The novella’s sweet and tender narrative is both relatable and emotionally impactful. The characters are well-crafted, with Noelle’s quiet strength and resilience shining through, while Nick’s vulnerability and determination to move forward from the past, add depth to his journey. Their story unfolds in a way that feels genuine, highlighting themes of forgiveness, growth, and the enduring power of love.

The audiobook performance takes this heartfelt story to another level. The narrators do an excellent job of bringing the characters to life, using distinct tones and inflections to differentiate voices and convey emotions. Maxine gives Noelle her moments of introspection and quiet hope are portrayed with subtlety, while Scott gives Nick the right tone to convey the struggles and sincerity ensuring they are delivered with a raw authenticity. The pacing of the narration complements the novella’s rhythm, allowing listeners to savor the emotional highs and lows without feeling rushed.

What truly stands out is the narrator’s ability to capture the intimate, almost magical atmosphere of the story. From the wistful reflections of the past to the hopeful anticipation of a brighter future, every word feels carefully considered and delivered with care. The production quality from Blue Nose is equally commendable, with crisp audio and seamless transitions that enhance the overall listening experience.

Daddy December is a perfect listen for fans of second-chance romances and heartfelt novellas. It’s a short yet impactful story that reminds us how love and understanding can heal the deepest wounds. Whether you’re a seasoned audiobook listener or new to the format, this one is sure to leave you with a smile and a full heart. This was my first story by Linz Vonc and wont be my last.

Noelle, a young woman who made a difficult decision for what she believed was the best at the time, crosses paths with Nicholas, her best friend’s brother, and the unsuspecting father of her child, a decade later. As the snow begins to blanket the picturesque town of Winterburg, Noelle finds herself grappling with the emotional storm brewing inside her. Nicholas, now a successful scholar, is initially shocked and overwhelmed by the revelation he has a daughter, Holly. The weight of lost time and missed milestones hangs heavily over him, but so does the undeniable chemistry between him and Noelle. As they navigate the complexities of co-parenting and rekindling their relationship, the Christmas season offers a backdrop for healing and forgiveness. Both families must confront the choices of the past and find a way to embrace new beginnings. In the heart of Winterburg, amidst carols and crackling fires, Noelle and Nicholas are given a second chance—not just at love, but at creating the family they never had the chance to be. 3.5 ⭐️

Noelle was incredibly aggravating. Not only did she make a terrible and selfish decision 10 years prior, but she continues to do it now. She continues to judge Nick, not listening when he explains that he has an ex, not a current fiancée, and making assumptions and saying bitter, ignorant things — she has no right to be angry or upset that he was ever with someone else, and no right to treat him like garbage when *she* left him and *she* pretended the baby didn’t exist. And working at a diner that makes her work practically naked? Get real, girl. And then she fucks him in his truck but tries to act like they can't go back home because their daughter will "get confused"? Unprotected sex when you're *still* acting pathetic about him and the last time? And she's telling him that she "isn't wearing anything underneath" her Christmas onesie, and that he shouldn't either . . . While their daughter is there?

Nick was pretty great. He immediately wanted to be involved in his daughter's life and be the perfect dad, deciding in seconds to move countries to be able to be there for her. He even claimed he was "stupid the last ten years", as if *he* were the reason they weren't together and he didn’t know about his daughter. The one thing I didn't really like was the borderline pressure for her to have another baby with him.

There were a few repetitive areas where there should be some extra editing done, and there are way, *way* too many uses of the word 'pussy' and 'fuck', as if the author wanted to use it as much as possible — it made all of the spicy scenes far less enjoyable as it sounded clunky. There were far too many spicy scenes for people who haven't seen each other in ten years and have their daughter in the next room, and she wouldn't be ready to have him in her within literal seconds.

Overall it was written out well with a good plot. The female narrator was a little aggravating, opting to make every word waver when Noelle was supposed to be crying, versus just the dialogue. I did have to listen to this at almost 3x speed as it was really slow, but I had no issues with the male narrator.

I started to cringe when at the birthday party for the ten year olds Noelle finds it cute the girls are pretending to be drunk. What??? The premise is Noelle was secretly dating Nick, her best friend's older brother ten years ago (she was 21). When he got accepted to his dream school she broke up with him so he would go. She realizes after he leaves that she is pregnant and doesn’t tell him. She left and only returned to his hometown and her best friend last year. She has been raising Holly as a single mom. He comes home for Christmas and is shocked to learn that he has a ten year old daughter he never knew about.

There are a lot of plot holes in this story. His sister knows Holly is her niece by her looks but inexplicably is mad now because Noelle never told her. She has had almost a year to bring that up. Also between acceptance letters and starting college there are months and months not days, so why did Nick just disappear? And why hasn’t he been home before if he is so successful.

The whole story takes place in a ridiculous few days' time frame. And of course sparks fly between Nick and Noelle. I am fine that Noelle works at a Hooter’s on steroids type of place as a waitress to support her and Holly. But his reaction to it by going alpha male and yet being so turned they get it on in the parking lot was icky. I only realized after the story ended that it was a shorter book, 164 pages. So maybe there wasn’t time to more slowly introduce him to his daughter or adjust to being together.

This is an okay story but I’ve read similar type books that are better and have more depth. I listened to an audiobook from Dreamscape Select via NetGalley. I did enjoy the narrators, especially Maxine Mitchell who I have listened to before. It you want a mindless, quick read or listen with steamy bits this will do.

Linzvonc is hands down one of my favourite authors, I just love how her mind works, and that she takes us on these incredible journeys, everything from sweet and adorable to gut wrenching, soul destroying reads. When I seen she has this sweet looking Christmas novella, I just had to jump at the chance to read it, and I'm so glad that I did. Noelle and Nicholas's story was everything and more. Once I started I just couldn't put it down, it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride, that just keeps giving. It's action packed with drama, spice, jealousy, meddling friends and ex's, festive fun and so much more.
The characters, storyline and plot where wonderfully written as always. Their chemistry has never left it's still sizzling, they are so made for each other.

Noelle and Nicholas use to date, head over heels in love, until nick left to focus on his career, leaving a devastated and heartbroken Noelle behind. She ends up leaving their small town aswell taking a secret with her, now she's back in her home town, stressing over cupcakes for a 10 year olds birthday party. When in walks the love off her life nick, she can't believe that he's here, but it can't be him, her secret will come out. He can't find out.

Nick is back for Xmas and it's not the warm welcome he had hope for, but he had been gone for 10 years. When nick finds out Noelle's secret, he's mad, sad and also feels guilty. He's missed out on so much. But it's always been her. Can they get their relationship back on track and be a happy family ? Or will they forever be destined to love each other from afar?

Grab the book and find out, you won't be disappointed, I sure wasn't, I can't wait to read more from linzvonc, highly recommend.
