READ A FREE PREVIEW OF THE EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT, HEART-IN-YOUR-MOUTH NEW JACK REACHER THRILLER

1992. Eight respectable, upstanding people have been found dead across the US. These deaths look like accidents and don't appear to be connected. Until one body - the victim of a fatal fall from a hospital window - generates some unexpected attention.

That attention comes from the Secretary of Defence, who promptly calls for an inter-agency task force to investigate. Jack Reacher is assigned as the Army's representative.

Reacher may be an exceptional soldier, but sweeping other people's secrets under the carpet isn't part of his skill set. As he races to discover the link between these victims, and who killed them, he must navigate around the ulterior motives of his new 'partners'. And all while moving into the sight line of some of the most dangerous people he has ever encountered.

His mission is to uncover the truth. The question will Reacher bring the bad guys to justice the official way . . . or his way?

Lee Child was born October 29th, 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham. By coincidence he won a scholarship to the same high school that JRR Tolkien had attended. He went to law school in Sheffield, England, and after part-time work in the theater he joined Granada Television in Manchester for what turned out to be an eighteen-year career as a presentation director during British TV's "golden age." During his tenure his company made Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown, Prime Suspect, and Cracker. But he was fired in 1995 at the age of 40 as a result of corporate restructuring. Always a voracious reader, he decided to see an opportunity where others might have seen a crisis and bought six dollars' worth of paper and pencils and sat down to write a book, Killing Floor, the first in the Jack Reacher series.

Killing Floor was an immediate success and launched the series which has grown in sales and impact with every new installment. The first Jack Reacher movie, based on the novel One Shot and starring Tom Cruise and Rosamund Pike, was released in December 2012.

Lee has three homes—an apartment in Manhattan, a country house in the south of France, and whatever airplane cabin he happens to be in while traveling between the two. In the US he drives a supercharged Jaguar, which was built in Jaguar's Browns Lane plant, thirty yards from the hospital in which he was born.

Lee spends his spare time reading, listening to music, and watching the Yankees, Aston Villa, or Marseilles soccer. He is married with a grown-up daughter. He is tall and slim, despite an appalling diet and a refusal to exercise.

Jack Reacher is assigned to a very difficult case. He needs to find the people who have been on a crazed killing spree. The book just drags on, and on, and on. Although the plot is quite interesting, I just had no motivation to finish the book whatsoever, so have been reading it in between other books. Overall, despite the fact that the storyline could be seen as engaging, I found the book dull and I wouldn’t recommend.

I really enjoyed that this was set back when teacher was in the army. The setting was great and action suspenseful.
Fun read.

Overall a good book I found the start a bit slow but the storyline was good with some good twists. It was a very good easy reading book.

Not one of the best of the Reacher books. I found the multiple storylines somewhat disjointed and it hindered the pace of the book. I also found some of the storyline just plain unbelievable. In previous books, the FBI were competent. In this book you are asked to believe that the FBI would not move people to safe houses, would not have agents inside the house with the people they are trying to protect and would just allow people to walk into surveilled houses to kill people. Very unbelievably which made the book difficult to digest.

Sample? Waiting for the full book. Should we wait till December again?

Waiting for your book, We are.

This part about the fight in the bar reminds me of one other similar fight in one of Reacher's earlier book. Can you change it. Thanks in advancece. 😀

can’t wait!

Looks like I’ve got another long night of reading Reacher ahead of me. The excerpt I’ve just read was exceptional and quintessentially Reacher. I haven’t missed the launch of a Reacher book since book 3…this will be no exception.

Tantalising

A tantalising taste of the story to come, another dip back into Reacher’s time as an MP. Lookkng forward to the book being published as always.

After the last 2 disappointing collaborations with Andrew Child this is a classic Jack Reacher - goes back in time to when he was an MP in the army and is thrilling and satisfying

It was “ok”. It didn’t particularly have me on the edge of my seat at any point and the plot twists were kinda predictable, but it was an easy read

I quite enjoyed this book but it is definitely less violent than past Reacher books. Nice ending with some good turns.

Pretty good book, very easy read. Standard Jack Reacher plot line which some may not like but I find to be a comfort when I know what I want to read.
