I am really enjoying listening to this series, it’s well written by Nancy Warren and well narrated by Teri Schnaubelt. While it is undoubtedly an adult book, it really would hold appeal for most lovers of the romance genre due to there not being a great deal of sexual content.
The one thing that I dislike about the narration may well be something that appeals to other people. The intimate scenes are read in much the same way as the rest of the book and in my opinion it could have been read with a little more passion.
I am pleased to report that we get to see how things are with Evan in this book too. I am loving the sense of family and the continuity. Iris in bloom flows nicely from Kiss a Girl in The Rain.
All in all this is a pleasing addition to the series with no cliffhangers and a HEA.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nancy Warren. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
This series is really growing on me . They have all been such a joy to read so far. The characters are so likeable , I really enjoyed getting to know Iris better in this book and so glad she found her HEA . I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next book.

As the eldest daughter spends her time nurturing everyone else. Coming up to her 33 birthday Iris decides to have a baby by artificial insemination. At the same time Geoff the new English teacher takes an interest in Iris. I love Geoff and Iris together they were a great couple. Unfortunately after being bitten with a man who went back to his wife. Iris didn’t feel secure enough until Geoff became divorced. For it was like visiting family after listening to three of these Chance family adventures. At frustrated with Iris but still enjoyed it and looking forward to number four I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. A sweet tale of overcoming the disappointments life sends your way to be open to the possibilities that still exist for you in the world. Also a cautionary tale of not letting love slip through your fingers by jumping to conclusions and letting the good things in life be enjoyed. A well woven plot that was very enjoyable and a happy ending to make this the perfect afternoon listen to be entertained by!
Iris in Bloom is the story of Iris and Geoff. She is the owner of the Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company. One day Geoff walks in and she falls for him instantly. She is 33 and not married, her biological clock is ticking and she wants to have a baby but doesn't tell Geoff because she is trying artificial insemination at a sperm bank since she figured she would never meet the right man. She is afraid if she tells him she will scare him off. He is indeed very angry with her when he finds out the truth and breaks it off with her. Meanwhile he flies back to LA to finalize his divorce from his ex, knowing he made a big mistake in leaving Iris, since he is so in love with her. He wants his divorce finalized so that he can have a real relationship with Iris and prove to her he really does love her. When he comes back he goes right away to see Iris realizing he made a big mistake by letting her go only now he cannot find her. They finally meet up again and get back together. I do love a happy ending .... I really enjoyed it. Thanks for another great book, Nancy Warren!! Check out this wonderful author, you won't be sorry!!
What an amazing story. The second book in the Take a Chance series is about Geoff and Iris. Geoff is the new English High School teacher in town who is in the process of divorcing his wife. He meets Iris at her coffee shop The Sunflower that she owns. They become friends and than things sizzle for them. Fast paced story that will make you laugh and cry. I had a hard time putting the book down. Great addition to The Chance series. Looking forward to the next book in the next book!
Iris finds that she can wait no longer for a man to come in and help her with the fairy tale love and family she wants. She has decided to move forward with her plans to have a baby. She knew the family she loved would support her. She has been the go to for all around her now it was time for those around her to be her go to. But things get a small wrench put in place. Geoff. Geoff finds that he no longer wants anything to do with women, period. He also finds that he had found the best muffins, ever. He finds that those muffins are attached to the most attractive woman he has ever seen. But none of this changes the fact that he's unwilling to become attached to another woman. In small town, Hidden Falls things have there own way of changing when you are paying attention. Geoff and Iris find that the two of them together can make magical things happen.
Teri Schnaubelt has given me another one of Nancy Warrens books to fall in love with. I loved her timing, cadence, pacing, and pitch. She gives each character their own charm. The audio was smooth and hiccup free. I could increase speed and find no faults with the quality of the audio.
Spoiler free review. Audio narrated by Teri Schnaubelt. Romantic comedy with some drama but nothing I felt was traumatic. This is HEA romance with both drama and humor just like most people's real lives. I tend toward reading romantic suspense but enjoy a well written romance with well developed characters and a good story. Nancy Warren delivers in all those categories. I can relate to the family and friends drama and comedy that comes with being unmarried woman over 30. I realized when I started it again I hadn't listed it on Goodreads in 2016. When I rate a book 4-5* it means I enjoyed it enough to re-read. Won this through Nancy Warren newsletter. I only subscribe to newsletters of authors who have written multiple books I more than just liked. Nancy Warren routinely delivers characters I enjoy having visit me and would gladly know in real life if they were here my world. Iris, please bring muffins.

♥ Story ♥
Iris in Bloom is about, you guessed it, Iris. She is a bakery master, a published author, and a shoulder to cry on for the town.
Iris ❤ Geoff
Iris Chance is turning 33 and her baby clock is ticking loud. Being the eldest female child among the Chance siblings, she has always been the secondary mom. The small pool of eligible partners leads her to the fertility clinic. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and she has that in spades with all the Chance clan. Iris is set on her plan, but meeting the hot new English teacher puts her mind into a spin.
Geoff McLeod left L.A. after his wife ended their marriage via text. He came to Hidden Falls for a fresh start. He left his lawyer friend to handle his divorce but is still technically married on paper. His outlook on love was grimm, until he stops at the Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company. That's when he meets Her, and his whole life changes.
"O Captain! My Captain!" ---Dead Poets Society
Iris in Bloom will inspire lots of nail biting moments that will leave you yelling in your head, or out loud, things like wait, hurry, and listen. Those that were alive in the late 80's will feel a need to stand on something to recite the above quote. There is the most interesting, yet touching re-gift ever! There is no epilogue which leads me to think that part #3 will start close to where this one ends, hopefully. This is a great edition to the Take A Chance Series, and I can't wait for more!

Nancy Warren can be very creative. That re-gift was one I've never heard of before.
If life is too conflicted, too hectic, too complicated… may I suggest visiting Hidden Falls, Oregon. The perfect vehicle for this journey, is Nancy Warren’s 2nd Take A Chance series book, Iris in Bloom. Iris Chance owns and operates The Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company, A café and bakery in Hidden Falls. Her patrons love her coffee, or tea, and her delicious Morning Glory muffins. Iris is an exceptional young woman. She’s intelligent, lovely, hard-working, and extremely caring. Her patrons love her as much as they love her awesome treats. There is one big problem: Iris is single, without a boyfriend… and her biological clock is kin to a runaway locomotive! Iris wants a child… now! Add her caring sisters, and her always observant mother… Iris feels confused, and solitary.
Enter Geoff McLeod, Hidden Falls’ new high school English teacher. Geoff is trying to heal from the dissolution of his past marriage, but his ex-wife’s betrayal still hurts him deeply. Despite his current disregard for all things female, he can not fight his strong attraction to Iris Chance. When both of their defenses begin to crumble, will the result be a fling, or a lifetime romance? Will Iris desire for children be realized?
This story, as with all Take A Chance books, is helped along by the ever-present Chance family members. The always caring Marguerite comes to their aid, as the reader would expect. This story is tender, and loving, and fun, and very compassionate. The story illustrates just how special love can be in our daily lives. Love for our parents, our siblings, our partners, and our children. This book is a wonderful read.
This story begins with Iris, the main female character, wanting to have a baby and Geoff, the main male character, as the new man in town. He has moved from LA to Hidden Falls, Oregon to begin a new job as a teacher at the high school. He is trying to start over after his wife has told him she wants a divorce. As he starts his first day at school, he stops by the local coffee/bakery shop that is owned by Iris. Stopping by each day becomes a habit he falls into and as the days go by he finds himself attracted to Iris. She is attracted to Geoff, as well, but doesn’t want to get “seriously involved “ because she doesn’t want to be his rebound girlfriend. Things begin to get heated up, but Iris continues to be resolved to have a baby by in vitro fertilization . Geoff would be a perfect match, but again, she doesn’t want the complication of being the rebound girlfriend, so she keeps him out of the loop about her plans for having a baby. The interactions of all the characters of Hidden Falls is very real and you will especially like Iris’ parents. This series about the Chance family is one that readers will want to follow through on and learn more about the wonderful people in this family. You can read this story as a stand-alone novel, but as for me, I am definitely going to follow this author and the Chance Family adventures.
Iris in Bloom is the second book in the Take a Chance series. Like the first book, this one is a light read with engaging characters. There is minimal drama, but enough tension to keep things moving. Geoff has moved to Hidden Falls to start a new life after his wife informed him she wanted a divorce…in a text message. He’s not interested in a new relationship. He just wants to be a good English teacher and to get himself put back together. Iris’s time clock is ticking. She doesn’t trust men, she has pretty good reasons for that distrust. Without any prospects in sight, she’s beginning to think she needs to take matters into her own hands and start a family of her own.
This is a fun, quick, and cute story. It’s entertaining and easy to read. If you’re looking for a light read that still has a bit of substance you should check out Iris in Bloom.
Just reading the title made me smile. Then I read the book and it warmed my heart. There is Iris Chance, owner of her own coffee shop. She’s 33 and feeling like her time is running out to have a family but with no eligible good looking man in sight, she decides to use a sperm bank. Then in walks Geoff McCloud, the new English teacher at the local high school to purchase coffee and muffins for the staff he will be working with. He’s a 35 year old man with a broken heart after his wife texts him that she wants a divorce. Their first meeting had me in stitches but there’s heart wrenching dialogue between the two as she finds love for the first time and he learns to love again.
Enjoyed the story and characters, but throughout the book there are very abrupt scene changes. There are no clean scene breaks. One moment the main character is on the street talking to her sister hundreds of miles away from home, then she's back home in her bakery's kitchen talking to her mom for two sentences, and then she's in her apartment! Or it's the female main characters point of view and then in the next paragraph it's ABRUPTLY the male character's. It seems like it's mid thought or mid scene when these scene changes happened. It wasn't even a clean end scene, start new scene. It seemed mid thought, mid action. It got very confusing. Had the author made a new chapter at the change of scenes, it would have made the book much more enjoyable.
Really liked the book. Iris is the typical maternal and friendly woman that everyone Goes to, to talk. She feels old and realizes she had endometriosis and no man, so she wants to have a child via fertilization. She meets Geoff, an English teacher that has just gotten separated from his wife. they get together but she doesn't tell him her plans of getting pregnant so that is basically the novel's main conflict. The romance is very cute and nice, it's not instalove. They get to know each other, they talk and have experiences before they have sex and say they love each other. The book is very nice and I totally would recommend it
Cute, fun book. Iris Chance just turned 33, is single and has endometriosis. Her doctor has told her that if she wants kids, she "needs to get moving" on it. So, she's decided on artificial insemination because, as the oldest of 11 children - some adopted, some not - she's always wanted kids. She's a published author, but now owns and operates the best coffe shop/bakery in Hidden Falls, WI.
Geoff McLeod's wife of 6 years dumped him six months ago via a text message. He's recently moved to Hidden Falls to teach English. He's instantly attracted to Iris, but she refuses his advances because she doesn't want to be his "rebound" woman.
Iris is the oldest of the Chance girls and has always been everyone's listening ear. Her last relationship ended when he went back to his ex. Geoff has just moved into the area. He is a teacher at the high school and in the mist of a divorce. They meet when he comes in to her coffee shop to get drinks & muffins for his first teacher meeting. And let the sparks fly.
This is a story about a ordinary woman who hasn't had much luck in love deciding when to become a mother. She meets a ordinary man who is starting his life over after divorce. They have big decisions to make but do they make them alone or together. Average read.
Just when Iris thinks that there are no interesting single men in their little town Geoff walks into her coffee shop. After his wife's email Geoff thought he wouldn't be interested in women again. He was right until he walked into the coffee shop. Now how to get Iris to believe him. very good story. Hard to put down until finished.
Iris frustrated me beyond belief. She blames the H for her actions and cannot understand why he has not apologized. She enters a dating relationship but doesn't tell that person that she is going through in vitro... Really! She jumps to the worst case scenario! The H is a bit whiney but overall a decent person. Iris is also decent but makes mind-numbing decisions.

Iris the owner of a coffee & tea house wants a baby but has no special guy in her life. Then she meets a customer and they begin dating. This is my kinda romance, very little sex scenes and it's not graphic. The friends to lovers romance was sweet. The characters are easy to like. I like this book a lot and i recommend it to the romance lovers.
Nice story but the layout was horrible. You’re reading one paragraph and the next should be a new chapter or have a break between the two as it goes in a completely different direction. It happened quite often. Was reading on kindle so not sure if that was the issue.
I really liked Iris' story. This is a series but the author does a good job of telling background without beating a dead horse. Her characters are fun and, so far, interesting story lines.
Iris starts off as likeable and connecting with likeable Geoff. Iris becomes dislikeable with the whole my choice, my body statement yet has previously been risking pregnancy by regularly sleeping safely with Geoff. I'm glad they worked it out in the end

The heroine has just the right amount of uncertainty and the hero is the perfect amount of imperfect. Great, unusual secondary characters add interest and help move the plot. A real winner.
Iris is 33 and her doctor told her if she wants children she should get started. So she started thinking about a sperm donor. But then she meet Geoff and sparks fly. Now what does she do? A very intriguing story.
A charming light read, and at 145 pages, it is basically a novella that can be read in one sitting. Nice characters, pleasant writing style and the plot follows a predictable path.
An easy read for when you just want to escape for a while.
