New Brunswick author Allan Hudson's first novel is a large, detailed (very detailed) foray into the dark side of vengeance. Drake Alexander, the primary male antagonist represents the side of good while Bartolommeo Rizzato represents evil (boy does he ever!). Somewhere in between the two falls Andrew Stratton, a businessman who has lost his two children to Muslim terrorists and wants revenge on all Muslims, no matter the cost. All appear to have unlimited funds and connections in all the right (or wrong, as the need may be) places. Mr Hudson takes his time in telling the story, adding in lots of backstories and details on all the characters, making it obvious that some of them will remain to appear in a sequel (which is due out this year, I believe). If you like action, adventure in various locales and don't mind f-bombs, violence, sexual abuse and other disquieting themes then Dark Side of a Promise will appeal to you.
