A life-altering snowball is now in motion for teenagers Ducky and Logan. Inseparable since birth, they now have only weeks left in their high school careers. For the laid-back surfer and dedicated school captain, it should be smooth sailing and pure excitement from here on out—right? But when new heart-throb Oliver Carter enrols at Woodston Bay High with only a month left, dormant emotions wreak havoc and drama ensues.

Will Logan get past his temper and pride to obtain his true happiness? Will Ducky have the courage to go after what she's subconsciously always wanted? Will the duo even make it to graduation together . . . or at all?

Kit Hindmarsh is a self published Australian author, releasing her first two books, both within the last year.

Firsts & Lasts was a mere hobby project, started in late high school. However, with the encouragement and support of her husband, Kit eventually gained the courage to release the 10 year long work to the public.

Ends & Starts, the sequel to the romantic story following teens Logan and Ducky, has quickly followed behind, being written and published in just a fraction of that time.

Kit lives on the Sunshine Coast with her family and tubby staffy boy. She helps run their electrical business and works part time at the best child care centre on the planet. Some of her favourite works have come from John Green, Lucy Score and Colleen Hoover.

Kit claims to be an absolute sucker for a happy ending and always has a minimum of eight works in progress on the go. She hopes to be able to share these stories with the world over the next few years.

*Thankyou to author Kit Hindmarsh for my gifted copy.

Fav quote
“He’ll just have to fall in love with you all over again…”

Pia (Ducky) and Logan have been best friends since childhood. With only a month left until they graduate from high school a new student arrives that grabs Ducky’s attention. Logan has a choice to make, continue to hold back his true feelings for Ducky and lose her forever to Oliver or tell her the truth and hope it doesn’t ruin a lifetime of friendship.
On top of this an unfortunate incident throws their graduation and future plans in turmoil.

Throughout their last month of high school there are a lot of firsts and lasts that each character experiences.
This story is told both by Ducky’s and Logan’s POV and I loved how each chapter was titled The first time…or The Last time… This story brought back all those end of high school feels.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters are very like-able and the banter between them is all great. This story made me laugh and made me cry. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel when it comes out.

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I could not put it down. It was a nostalgic read that took me back to my high school days and I was all for that.

I am a sucker for childhood friends to lovers and this was one of the best I’ve read. The relationship between Logan and Ducky was so authentic and beautifully written. Not to mention all the banter between Logan, Ducky, Oliver and Emma - so good!

I laughed, I sobbed, I was taken on an emotional journey that had me turning the pages and needing to know what happened next. This is a brilliant debut by a wonderful author and I look forward to reading more of Kit’s work. An easy 5 star read for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a beautiful and nostalgic story of friends, hard times and love. Kit has such such a wonderful job at making this feel so wholesome and informational whilst also keeping even the hard times light hearted and full of support. Kit is now one of my “always buy” authors thanks to Firsts and Lasts.

(I'm new to the author scene, so I'm not sure if it's douchey to review your own book, but I need to because I'm just so gosh darn proud of myself!)
This book means the absolute world to me and the characters truly feel like family. I hope everyone enjoys this light little read before the heavier follow-up novel gets released in the next few months.

Ducky and Logan have been inseparable since birth, but now with only weeks left in high school their lives will soon be changing. Will Logan get past his pride and build up the courage to finally get the girl of his dreams? Will Ducky have the courage to finally go after what she has always wanted?

This is a sweet YA romance novel set in high school. The two main characters were likeable (although at times very frustrating, but weren’t we all in high school) and you couldn’t help but root for them to finally get their act together and realise they both want the same thing! The ending of this book didn’t go where I thought it would so I was glad for the touch of heaviness at the end. I enjoyed the dual perspectives and the way the chapters were set out.

This book was an nostalgia overload and such an accurate interpretation of teenage life in Australia. So many of the things the characters were saying and doing reminded me of my high school days. I got quite a bit of second hand embarrassment and thoughts of “I can’t believe we used to use that phrase” or “ yup, I remember doing that myself!”. While I enjoyed this one I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I read it when I was closer to the characters age.

Kit Hindmarsh is a self published author from Australia. This is her debut novel. Her Second novel Ends & Starts is available now as an ebook. This story follows Logan and Ducky after high school and I am interested to see how the characters grow and change.

Where do I begin. Honestly, Ducky and Logan’s story transported me straight back to my Aussie high school days- I’ve read a heap of YA high school novels, but Kit Hindmarsh has encapsulated everything I uniquely Australian from water bubblers to driving utes with the surf board in the tray, this novel felt like home.
I have such a love for all the characters in this story but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Ducky was my favourite.
I laughed at Logan, cried with Ducky and felt everything they did.
If you’re looking for a unique YA high school romance novel, this is for you. I can’t wait to hear about where Ducky and Logan’s story ventures to next.

Ok this is not my normal genre of book. I usually go for the YA fantasy genre. HOWEVER…… I loved this book so much. I laughed out loud, I got butterflies during the cute scenes and most importantly I struggled to do anything else other than read this book over the last few days. I’ve never read an Aussie book before and absolutely loved how relatable it was. I could picture my own similar scenarios of high school parties and school crushes. I especially love the authors ability to convince you to root for each of the different characters when you read from their POV. 5 stars from me….can’t wait for the sequel <3

I was in a book slump after reading another great series when I found this book. I loved it! Ducky and Logie drew me in from the start, and transported me back to my highschool days (or more accurately, what I wished my highschool days were). I only wish there had been more… but thankfully, I already have book two downloaded! Yay for more Ducky & Logie!
If you haven't read this, you're missing out on really good story, great writing and characters.
I will definitely be keeping an eye out for new releases from this great, Australian author from now on! 🙂

Absolutely fell in love with this book! It will bring back all of the high school emotions with every first experience that comes with adolescence. The characters and setting are so close to home for me I could visualise everything perfectly, such a wholesome and sweet straight to the point story of an honest and pure first love. Obsessed with all of the Aussie colloquial nuances in Kits writing style! Think Home and Away but HEAPS better!

I love how well written this book is. I was captured by the details and how relatable the characters were. It took me back to my adolescence and the relationships I had at that age. As I read it in public I couldn’t help my emotions as I laughed out loud at hilarious moments and had tears streaming down my face as I was heartbroken in others. I recommended it to everyone - including my partner who also loved it. We can’t wait for more!
